The Old House At Home in Wiltshire

We came for dinner to celebrate my mums birthday (which also happened to be Mother’s Day). It had clearly been a busy day for the whole team, but we were left waiting from the moment we arrived. The bar tender was excellent and ended up clearing our table for us, but an early 18:30 booking ended up with us being served our roasts at 20:10 - and it had taken 40 minutes to have our order taken. The food was outstanding, as always, however the wait left us disappointed!

Lovely mother's day lunch. Fresh ingredients and well presented food from friendly helpful personnel. Would definitely recommend.

I stayed at Old house at home when I was doing a road trip. The hotel is so cozy and quaint. It is attached to a nice pub. The room was very well maintained and was furnished well. They had a couple of young people managing the service, and all of them were friendly and welcoming. The hotel is located at 5 mins drive from Cotswold. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a place to stay or have some food.

A lovely country pub which I have visited over the last few yrs and always for food. Always friendly staff and the food is wonderful. There were a few things on the menu this time that didn’t float my boat so we had the chicken burger and steak and both really tasty. We had sticky toffee pudding which was yummy. We ate at 5pm on Saturday and was so busy when we left.

Stayed here for two nights and had a very good experience. The place is clean, well presented and staffed by lovely young staff. The rooms are modern, nicely decorated and large. The kitchen is special though - this isn't just pub food, it's well thought out, beautifully prepared and presented, and quite delicious. Not overpriced either. A great spot to stay if you're exploring the lovely countryside around here.

We were treated to lunch here today and I was very impressed. Set in a small village in the middle of lovely countryside is this great pub/restaurant. I had a chat with the chef, Anthony, and quickly realised that he knows food. I had the roasted tomato soup and and an individual beef wellington. If was all well presented and delicious. I am looking forward to returning.

What a great find. We loved our one night stay. just off the motorway so very convenient. The rooms were warm and comfortable. Particularly the shower was excellent. The staff were very attentive and made our stay so memorable.

Great location for visiting the area and easy reach to Bath. Cannot fault the accommodation or the lovely cosy bar/dinning area. The service was friendly and professional. A special shout put for Ashley who was very helpful with her local knowledge and her friendly manor. But tbh all the staff were A1. The food was absolutely amazing. Ok not cheap but the presentation and quality was worth it. - one if not the best all inclusive breakfast I've had in ages. The chef can not only cook well but everything is presented beautifully. Thank you team for a lovely few days we hope to see you again.

Great stay Made to feel welcomed.Rooms were clean and well equipped. Evening meal was exceptional as was breakfast the following morning. Staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble.Will definitely be returning

We came for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived at 1.30 but didn’t get our orders for a full hour. Had an appointment elsewhere at 2.45 so had to wolf down the food. The food itself was great, but thought I’d die of starvation waiting for it. The waiter was apologetic and gave us a discount, which was kind. Just need more staff in the kitchen maybe?

We were a party of 6 celebrating our friends birthday . The welcome was warm and friendly … great table and great service throughout. The menu was amazing and we all took ages deliberating what to have. We weren’t disappointed in any of our choices … the food itself… presentation and flavours was incredible….. absolutely enjoyed the whole experience!

Haven't stayed there as we live locally, but always enjoy the food and all staff are so lovely, helpful and welcoming. Really enjoy coming here and will continue to do so!

I went for a meal just before Xmas and the place wasn't full my meal wasn't hot no one came to ask if the meal was OK the service wasn't the fastest then I ordered my desert and had to wait an hour and I asked where the deserts were and to be told they were on there way I had sticky toffee pudding which was cold should be warm I asked for the bill which arrived on the table within 5 minutes surprisingly they knocked off the surcharge but I wasn't happy thrs why I have left this review and I thought the meal overall was a let down and I would not be returning

My family and I stayed one night in this beautiful property! Unforgettable experience: beautiful, well-kept and clean rooms. Super spacious bathroom. Comfortable bed and perfect pillows! Really very welcoming room! But the thing we liked most was the staff: everyone was very welcoming, kind and polite! We felt at home and pampered. Crazy breakfast, really delicious. If it were possible, we would have given 6 stars!!! Compliments!

Great place for a drink but the food was over priced and over cooked.

Returned for another Sunday lunch and delighted to say food and service were excellent. Veggie Wellington was very good and the roast lamb and beef very good too I’m assured.

We went for a meal only. We used to go here a lot but stopped years ago as the menu hardly ever changed and it was very stayed. But oh my how things have changed. The menu was fabulous and so light and fresh. I had the red snapper and it was beautifuly cooked and presented. My husband had the venison which was a feast for both the eyes and taste buds. The served was excellent and the staff very attentive. Would definitely recommend and we will be going back.

We all enjoyed a lovely meal and great service here. We had made the reservation online and as a result were told we couldn't order from the Christmas menu that we'd seen online as apparently you need to pre order your food. This was a bit disappointing but we had a fantastic meal and great service.

Spoilt by our first visit. On this our second, my wife didn't enjoy the evening meal as much as I did, and at breakfast there was only one member of staff on, so my meal was dried out by the time it was served. A shame.

Booked a table for4. The service and food was faultless considering they were short staffed due to the horrendous weather. We arrived slightly late but we were warmly welcomed After a stressful journey to get here it was wonderful to be treated so wonderfully.

We live locally, but have used the rooms when family have been visiting, which are always immaculate and a pleasure to stay in. Pub itself is an easy go to place with delightful staff, ( we've known Jordan for sometime), lovely atmosphere in a pleasant setting, all charmingly and competently managed by Ashleigh.

Food was reasonable, had the duck but hardly any duck in the dish. We thought it was really expensive for what we had. Didn’t stay for desert as it was so cold and couldn’t understand why no fire lit, other customers also sat around in coats ! Serving team were good.

We stayed here for a night whilst visiting Bath. A lovely little place to stay with friendly staff, clean accommodation and decent food - excellent value for money too! Only recommendations would be that the apartment we stayed in needs a bit of updating through decoration and parking was tight. Other than that, I highly recommend!

Went here for a roast, but have previously stayed here & had an evening meal. Everything from the staff, rooms, atmosphere & the food!!!!!!!my god the food is another level, its amazing. Me & my partner call this place "our place" can't recommend it enough.

We just had dinner and the food was great (I’m Italian so I have high standards). The only problem is that I asked for a candle or a happy birthday text on my girlfriend’s dessert and the waitress told me that the chef was too busy. So I asked only if it was possible an HB and the chef was too busy. I think that is not acceptable considering that the bill was of 170£

We live locally so no experience of the rooms but food and service were really very good. It's clear that the chef has a proper background and is able to deliver an excellent, varied menu. It's a tricky area to deliver good food and attract an appreciative clientele but we will do our best to support them and spread the word. Well done, they deserve success.

Staff were extremely good. Most food was excellent but Sunday roast beef was too tough. The staff immediately registered that comment with the kitchen and handled it perfectly.

Went for lunch, as previously they did a really good lambs liver and bacon main course. Sadly, it had been taken off the menu, but we had the venison and that was really good , but hoping that the liver comes back on to the menu sooner rather than later!

Fine dining in a pub, food and service was excellent. Enjoyed every bite and will be returning again, if you like fine dining worth a try, although I was informed that they make an excellent Sunday lunch.

Food was excellent and enjoyed by aii 8 of our party, 3 had starters and 6 had desserts. Table set up was not great as one table took 6/7 and a fairly large round table was added to one end which meant one person was a bit isolated.

Always the most delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly helpful, but un obtrusive service. We're regulars and love it!

Best Sunday lunch, I have had for a long time. Excellent food, with very good service at a reasonable price.

Inventive menu, some hits, some misses. Very colourful! Asparagus starter was excellent, haunch of deer less so, but still good. I'm not sure mashed potato, beetroot and leeks really works, but it's healthy. Service was outstanding, wine list is good and fairly priced. We'll be back.

Visited on Monday, rather nostalgic as we were visiting the area after living in the area some thirty years ago, when we used to eat there quite regularly. Both the food and service was excellent. Good choice on the menu and a very friendly atmosphere. Nice to see that somethings do not change.

Our third stay and as usual great rooms, lovely food and a good location near to Castle Combe circuit.

Superb meal yet again! A warm welcome as usual. Beautifully decorated surroundings. Absolutely faultless food and the staff went the extra mile to accommodate two of our party that had good intolerances. What’s not to love?

Fabulous overnight stay for local concert in the Cotswolds. Lovely room with all the amenities, amazing food, lovely Sunday lunch and breakfast. Welcoming staff, thank you all for your hospitality. A great find highly recommend The Old House at Home Burton.

Visited today for lunch and both of us were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and presented very nicely. Bit of a trek for us but it was worth it! Very friendly waitress.

Absolutely amazing experience staff are wonderful 100% attentive, food was perfect everything was so tasty seasoned well very good portion sizes and great prices too. Only disappointment is I live 178 miles away. Would definitely recommend to all.

Very comfortable stay and good food

I generally do not leave reviews but felt we had to on this occasion as it was SO good. We used a travel zoo voucher which was such good value for two course menus and coffees for £34 for two. We went on a Monday night as it happened to be near the hotel we visited for our 51st wedding anniversary. We are widely travelled and I have to say this was one of best meals we have ever had. The food was expertly presented on hot plates. The lamb and pork was cooked to perfection and the gravy was to die for. The two waiting staff worked beautifully together and dealt with a busy evening. The pub has a lovely atmosphere. What a lovely evening.

I have been coming to this establishment for a number of years and have always enjoyed coming back to eat in the restaurant. This time was no different, although I was disappointed to learn that having worked up a real appetite when I saw they had Beef Wellington on the menu, it was very disappointing when our server came back to tell us they had run out. My replacement dish, which was venison, was delicious, but very small in portion size, with two tiny slivers of venison, so for me, very disappointing!! Having said that, I have no doubt I will return, as I have always done throughout the years.

Food was lovely and the staff really friendly and helpful. However, the service was a little bit slow. It wasn’t particularly busy and many tables were empty since it was Sunday evening so not sure that they were stretched too thin or more that we caught them after a busy afternoon.

What a good pub. Really nice and helpful stuff and at the time of writing a new menu that had only been out for two weeks and was absolutely wonderful. And absolute must go to for any trip in this area. Seriously good food and really well priced. Can't wait to come back.

Food lovely but service very slow again - there just isn’t enough staff to serve all customers in an acceptable timeframe. Both female staff on duty were however very friendly & helpful despite being run ragged! Management really need to employ more staff as this is the second time in a month service has been a real issue & it has put us off coming back.

Well arrived for a big birthday 🎂. Just 5 of us on a Sunday Tea time. We weren't aware that it was a Sunday lunch menu in fact 1 of the 5 of us was provided with a 'normal' menu which included steak but wasn't actually available. A really poor start to a 60th birthday event. 4 out of 5 had a starter and our cutlery hadn't been replaced by the time our main meals had arrived. We were asked if we required condiments and they duly arrived minus the cutlery. It was like pulling teeth. The place needs a bit of staff training. We all ended up with Sunday lunch carvery type menus in the end which we hadn't necessarily bargained for given that the website didn't clarify this aspect and one person's physical menu showed items like steak on the menu. What a mess! The vegetables which accompanied the main courses included a very well cooked parsnip in my case and quite salty lamb. My original intention had been to choose chicken supreme but it wasn't conventional chicken supreme in a white wine/tarragon sauce. Just a shame that a 60th birthday was celebrated this way. Wetherspoons 2 days later was more enjoyable I'm sorry to say.

We have eaten at the Old House at Home three times and took our daughter today for Sunday lunch. As always the welcome was fabulous with the best roast ever. Everything was perfect 👌 Thank you to all of you x

My partner and I came here for an evening meal yesterday, having heard good things from several friends. It exceeded all expectations. The atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable, the staff were attentive and courteous, and the food was superb. Very good selection of dishes on the menu, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. We look forward to our next visit, as we will most definitely be returning!

I met a friend for Sunday lunch. The food and service were excellent and reasonably priced.

My wife and I had a delicious lunch here on Friday and were pleasantly surprised by the excellent interior after their refurbishment. Service was friendly and helpful and the food was very good. Lovely presentation of the meals matched by the great cooking, a lunchtime well spent and they are dog friendly so we'll be back soon.

They serve excellent breakfasts. The best breakfast I had in the UK. But the room needs to be cleaned more. There are still moulds in the shower.

We are moving to Nettleton in 4 weeks. This will be our local. All brilliant. The food was divine, the service was quick and with oodles of charm. Can’t wait to return.

Firstly I have had previously good experiences at this place. . But tonight was poor I had to wait 35/40 mins between the starters and main course. Then when the mains finally turned up it was stone cold. . The staff are just not that interested. .

We arrived on New Years Day at 3pm. We were not aware we had to go outside the pub/hotel to get to our rooms which were in a separate building until our arrival. We were not informed that the bar/restaurant was closing at 6pm. It was only when we went into the pub/bar at 5.30 that were informed that it was about to close. It would’ve been handy to have been told this at the check-in. We had to drive to Chippenham to get a meal! 😡 Also the steps outside can be a bit slippery and hazardous if the weather is wet which it was in our case. However the rooms in the outside building are very clean, warm and comfortable with a great shower.
