The Old Farmhouse in North Somerset

Without a doubt the rudest manager of a pub I have met. We popped in for a drink and were treated poorly. Manager stated that Without a table we could not have a drink. There were many empty tables which did not fill up for the hour we were there. I then witnessed him be verbally rude to other customers. I've been a loyal customer for many years. But do you know what. Not any more. The manager is as total plonker.

This could have been a good eating experience, however, partway through my meal I found there was a crack, along the main part of the plate. I told the staff member who said 'I'll let the kitchen know'. Bacteria can grow in the cracks, and this was not a new crack, so a good chance some were lurking there! I have never experienced this before, not even in a really cheap eating place. At the end of the meal - a main and cup of tea - I mentioned this again, and was told again 'I'll let the kitchen know', took our money, end of. I was so shocked at the attitude, I never thought to take a picture!

Visited with a couple of friends & our dogs, sat in the snug area table 23. The service with excellent. All the dishes were beautifully cooked & finished off with fab desserts. The pub was vibrant & full with locals, lovely & warm on a cold winters evening with the glow of a log burner, very popular so remember to book. Definitely recommend. Well done for a top quality evening.

I love The Old Farmhouse. I’ve lived in Nailsea for 16 years and soon to be moving away. The Old Farmhouse is the only thing I’ll miss in the town! The pub has such a lovely atmosphere. It’s so warm and cozy, a ‘proper old pub’. The staff are always really friendly and welcoming. The carvery on a Sunday is fantastic. Book early because it’s always busy. The food on the menu is lovely and a good choice of drinks at the bar. Ignore the negative reviews because every time I’ve been (with family), we’ve all loved the food, staff and atmosphere.

Very busy and buzzy Pub on a Friday evening. Two couples had a great meal with excellent service with the young Staff members doing a terrific job. Food is extremely good and the pies are top of my list for content, quality and value. The other members had either the chicken dish or the Moroccan dish which got a 10/10 vote. There were some large parties before us and we were prepared for a delay, but this was minimal, the Kitchen was obviously very well organised.

Came with the family for a Christmas Eve lunch, not very festive asked if the music could be changed to something more festive, other than Oasis , told Grinch said no

The pub itself is lovely and the staff are friendly, but the food was pretty disappointing. Starters, mains and deserts were quite dry, bland and not really as described. I'd happily spend time there having a drink, but not for food. Maybe the kitchen is busy with Christmas bookings.

We came for my daughters birthday, big group of 11 and the staff though busy were so helpful and friendly even took our daughters cupcakes and put candles on them for us. The atmosphere was lovely and the food amazing well worth the money.

We were flying out from Bristol Airport on a Monday morning (at stupid o’clock) and went here for a Sunday lunch before we checked into our overnight accommodation. We both decided on a Sunday roast and really enjoyed our meals, very good value and tasty. The service was excellent and servings were generous but not too big. After our lunch we went for an enjoyable walk on a community maintained path the other side of the car park.

Been Coming to the Pub for over 3 years. Unfortunately, we are moving from the area. We would like to thank the Boss and his team for the professionalism and service with a smile everytime. Can we say you would have to look hard and wide to find a pub that serves delicious food time after time to a very high standard. I've never been a massive fan of carverys and unfortunately this one was just as disappointing as the others ... I'm always incredulous when people say 'oh my god it's amazing' All the meat was over cooked and dry, The potatoes were awful ...I never understand this ? Any chef or cook will tell you .. once cooked they have a shelf life of 20 - 30 minutes tops ... potatoes are cheap as anything... why not cook a fresh tray every 10 mins ? These were just terrible, all the veg (with the exception of the carrots) were soggy, over cooked and bland and the Yorkshires were soggy and tasted stale ... I didn't like the prison style gravy serving hole with slop all around it ... staff lovely, pub beautiful and to be fair the desserts (despite being way over priced £7 for a few scoops of ice cream?) Were tasty ... wouldn't recommend and have yet to find a carvery in the UK that cooks as well as my gf and I do for a quarter of the price... Sorry but no cigar !

What a find! We were recommended by friends who came last week. A little oasis where it’s not expected! Fantastic Pie - you can a good pub by the quality of its Pies!

I felt they should offer smaller plates for carvery, not just large or children. Understand people take advantage, but with one slice of meat and veg, can't really overload it? I felt the chef needed better manners, very bad customer service . Nice pub just felt not looking out for what customers want and look for new chef maybe??!!

Wasn't overly busy, was seated and server said she'd be back to take drink order. 15 minutes later had to chase her. 30 minute wait for food, one meal ok but other two nothing special with excessive red onion slices a theme. Finished eating and could have walked out as all staff seemed to have disappeared. It's become a bit of a theme there when not a Sunday carvery.

I'm not usually a fan of carvery but this one was really good. Good nut roast along with a variety of vegetables which were cooked in a more imaginative way than normal and of course very good value when you can pile your plate up:) It was very busy so that shows how popular and well thought of it is. The staff were very welcoming and polite. Great place for the locals to have. It serves lunch all Sunday afternoon and it's not just carvery, there's a (restricted) menu of other dishes on offer, so all in all a great place to meet up with family.

Early Father's Day meal once again but this time just the four of us. Excellent staff as always - polite, friendly and efficient. Meals were extremely good and prices about average although I personally only opted for the Light Bite meal which was a lot cheaper than the full size one but was more than enough. Cod/chips/mushy peas and salad and the fish was perfect as were the chips. Various mixture of meals for the others and all were polished off so must have been as good as mine. Thatchers Gold was also excellent.

Lovely place to eat with family, come in regularly. Kids enjoy the games and lego and makes it a nice relaxing experience

The Farmhouse was our pub of choice when moving to Nailsea 30 years ago and has numerous landlords over the years, and some very bad press. We have visited several times over the last few years (it would have been more if COVID hadn't get in the way) and glad to say that the food and service is excellent.

We have visited on two occasions recently and have enjoyed great foodand good service. Our servers last night were Martin and Adam.

My husband brother sister-in-law and I had a lovely Sunday roast,a choice of 4 kinds of meat a very wide range of vegetables it was lovely and the staff are well organised and very friendly,would definitely go back.

We visited as a family on Sunday for the carvery. Food itself was lovely, would highly recommend. 5 Choices of meat (you can pick up to 3), generous portions, lots of veg and side options (including roast and mashed potato). Also had the option of a standard 11" plate, or smaller 9" plate for those that dont eat as much, which is very good and not something i'd seen before.Slight downside was that it was very busy - its a large pub, but only 2 people serving at the bar, so queue to order and pay was quite long, and then queue to get food at carvery was also long and slow, as there was only one chap doing all the different meats, and as most people tended to order 2-3 different meats so he had to take a piece of meat, slice some off, put it back, pick up next piece and slive that etc. It might be better if that has 2 people carving to keep it moving quicker?Would recommend overall though, as long as you dont mind a bit of a queue - it was worth it!

What a delightful and charming pub! We were made to feel very welcome and the service was excellent throughout the evening. Prices were sensible. We were seated in The Old Kitchen which was very cosy and relaxing. The food was served promptly and was of generous portions and extremely tasty (sadly we were too full to manage a dessert, but next time........!) The pan toasted garlic mushrooms was the best starter I have ever had - absolutely delicious (would love the recipe!) Many thanks to all the staff, we hope to make many return visits when in the area.

We visit this pub regularly for food and we find it excellent in every way. I just had a birthday party and it was fantastic. The buffet they put on for us was 5 star. Highly recommend this pub.
