The Old Crown Public House in Camden

Sharing details of my experience with the a particular doorman. Ive been in this pub a few times, chiefly because Im often at the Museum of Comedy across the road. Had a drink early evening in here and as usual very friendly and professional staff. Nice atmosphere. Went to go back into the pub at 10pm with a female friend, just the two of us, not an big group of guys etc. to be clear. Immediately two bouncers stepped in front of the door. One said nothing so no issue with him. The other was immediately rude and aggressive for no reason, asking what 'we want', 'what we are doing etc' (apparently there was a private function - but he could have obviously been polite and explained but chose not to be). Really odd and completely out of keeping for a pub in this area. He was very definitely trying to come across as street and gangster and intimidating, to two ordinary people trying to go in for a drink - was laughable honestly but also just completely unnecessary. Ending with him telling me, we weren't welcome and 'go home' shooing his hand at me. Had a good slanging match with him which he entirely initiated with his attitude. Shame for a pub in a nice area.

Great place! Nice atmosphere and all, but the customer service was the best - there was a slight delay with the food and Valentina at the bar handled it like a pro! Major props for that :)

Got rejected at the door cause we were not with a girl my group are on a stag do so obviously we are not with any girls absolute joke bouncers were very rude and disrespectful

Never felt more unwelcome in pub. Got told by the bouncers when we entered that they only accepted mixed groups only (we were 3 guys) unless we gave them money or a free drink. We agreed to give them a free red bull when we entered to which they agreed. At the bar, we ordered 3 pints and a redbull and paid. They never gave us the redbull and was told that was the payment for the bribe. When I asked the manger if he knew the door staff and bar staff were taking bribes, he said "i know". Shocking behaviour.

We stopped here for a Guinness after the show at the ROH. Cozy place and very pleasant service.

Over priced £32 for 2 double gin and pump tonic

A midweek visit at 6.00pm a good buzz about the pub. Sadly, the menu only had two choices, and I wish I hadn't made a choice. Expensive and poor quality.

Absolutely extortionate, not worth the time and money. DO NOT BOOK WITH BRAZEN MONKEY. Was scammed into paying £340 when I was told it would be £100. Ruined my 18th birthday.

Went to a friends bday. over a call she was told it was £100 for the whole thing. up front they asked for £240. they didn’t explain anything beforehand just left us to our own then pretty much scammed us definitely not worth it also there’s a leaky roof. Me and my friends were literally being splashed. Terrible experience won’t be going again.

Didn't eat here hence the one star as we just popped in for a drink. Always nice to find and check out a new boozer and this one on the fringes of Bloomsbury doesn't disappoint. Friendly service and a nice selection of beers. The place was pretty busy for an early afternoon and had a varied mix of people including young families which is always a good sign. Definitely worth checking out.

Surprise, while walking we see it from the outside, it is impressive, you enter, it is even more so. Attentive service, excellent beers on tap, tried the burgers in 3, well made, paid the right price. We will be back

The food was good. But I like when a restaurant or pub has transparency in its prices. The waiter charged us a service charge 12,5 % which wasn't written anywhere in menú and he did It before serving the meal for making you to pay it

Too loud music in the lower bar area! Impossible to chat and nobody was dancing or enjoining it. Also, security didn’t allow to go outside with drinks for some reason…

Nice place to hang with friends. Menu isn’t substantial so don’t expect a proper meal. They only have some Mexican tacos and quesadillas as small bites. We ordered the drinks special - 2 for 1.

My friends and I decided to visit this bar for a casual evening of drinks. As we approached the entrance, the security staff claiming that the bar was closing ahead of schedule. However, we saw through their ruse and insisted on entering. Once inside, we were met with a different story altogether. The attentive bar staff informed us of the actual operating hours, which contradicted the false information provided by the security team. It was quite the rollercoaster of events! While we managed to enjoy our evening eventually, it's worth noting the questionable conduct of the security personnel at the door. Their attempt to deceive us about the bar's closing time left us scratching our heads. It's important for future visitors to be aware of this peculiar situation and approach the bar with caution. In the end, we couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the situation. Despite the initial hiccups, we made the most of our time at the bar. However, we feel it's essential to share our experience and warn others about the dodgy security practices at the entrance. So, if you're planning a visit to this establishment, keep your wits about you and be prepared for a slightly unconventional entrance. Happy imbibing, and may you have smoother encounters with the security staff than we did!

Beautiful place, amazing atmosphere, awesome staff

Close to both the British Museum and the Holborn Station. A brilliant selection of beers to try before buying and outside seats.

We went in just for beer this afternoon. They offered Rivertown Pilsner and IPA. The best drafts we’ve found in London so far. It was a great location, close to the British Museum but quiet and relaxing inside. Staff was very friendly and personable.

It’s live till 3am, I was looking for pub at 2 and found this one. The atmosphere is really nice and cozy. I would recommend.

It doesn't really have food options, but it's a good choice for those who likes to drink beer and it's not an expensive place.

Really sad to rate poorly! We visited on a Friday evening for a drink and really enjoyed it but Saturday night we attempted to visit for a drink before returning to our hotel and were greeted by 2 of the rudest alleged bouncers. They looked my husband up and down and refused to let him in. I pointed out how rude he was and they became very aggressive. Very disappointing. I say alleged bouncers as they had no formal evidence they were when I questioned them.

Stumbled on this place looking for a pit stop in central London and was impressed. Karaoke room for hire looked pretty decent as well. Staff friendly, patrons all sound. Good spot to know!

We use a function room upstairs every week and it's good each time. The drinks are a little spenny but it is in central London do....

My previous workplace was close to a pub, so I used to go there with my customers and staff to take a break after work. Today, after quitting my job, I went with the staff who had been working for me for the first time in a long time. The staff welcomed me and gave me a shot because I was a regular. I asked him if he remembered me and he said yes of course, which made me very happy. I haven't written a review yet, but I thought this pub really valued its regulars See you soon Thank you so much!! Super bar avec un service chaleureux. Des cocktails délicieux, le bar man est super doué et à perçu nos gouts sans même que l'on ne lui dise. Ayant commander des cocktails de son propre choix on a était très agréablement surprit ! Le bar fais aussi office de source pour un escape game via le site Mystery City. Un superbe escape game retraçant l'histoire de la pandémie du choléra à Londre qui nous permet de visiter le quartier !

So i went here with 2 friends and 15 minutes after the 2nd round the lady that had served us advised that the Amex card used for that round didn't go through as they do not accept Amex. Not a problem. My friend asked for a rejection receipt and whilst the lady was explaining to us that they do not get these receipts for Amex (my mate was getting his Monzo card out to pay), the landlord decided to get involved and said that my mate should pay for the drinks and check his card in the morning. He was about to pay for the drinks anyway but the landlord was incredibly rude and asked us to leave the pub. My friends went to the toilet and I stayed at the bar to finish my drink, at which time the landlord decided to belittle the situation. I do not leave many reviews but have to say that the landlord is not fit to run a bar. He did not need to get involved as my friend was about to pay for the drinks on his Monzo card but felt the need to show his authority when his member of staff was handling the situation perfectly. Maybe take a leaf out of her book in future pal.

It was advertising vegan food outside, so went in for a bite to eat. There was a menu posted on the wall, but no real menu cards. I was told to scan the QR code menu and order through the app on the phone; you HAVE to order through app, can’t order with waiter off the mobile phone menu. I asked what if I don’t have a phone with me or don’t have a smart phone, "sorry we can’t do anything". The app then proceeds to ask my name and email address, I asked why is that needed? "Just in case we have to contact you", but I’m sitting right in front of you! Sorry can’t over-ride. End up ordering via app, and paying through it. It had the gall to add a 10% tip I couldn’t remove, for what??? I did all the work, you just brought the dish to me at the end. That’s all. The staff isn’t the issue here, they are doing what they can do and have no choice on ordering. It’s the pub owner I have an issue with. Don’t give him the business, yes it’s very likely a him, women have better sense. And the food was average at best.

The 2 doormen are atrocious and the staff are not much better. Awful experience. The pub it’s self is alright and a decent atmosphere - but the staff made our group feel very unwelcome.

We bumped into this small pub by accident and were really glad that we did. Pretty Victorian design, very nice vibes, a nice welcoming lady running the bar. Didn't get to try the food, but the wines were decent. Will gladly visit again when in London.

I booked The Snug for my sister in laws hen and everything was great. The communication was great, price was really good, I was able to post a banner directly to the venue that they put up which was helpful as I don't live in London. The staff were really friendly and we had a fridge stocked with drinks when we arrived, really delicious vegan food and the karaoke was a HUGE hit. We had the absolute best time! I would recommend hiring The Snug for certain!

Rude staff. Over priced drinks. There’s one member of staff that’s always high on drugs. Smashed my friends drinks one night. Glass everywhere. Tried to get a refund. They only gave us cheaper quality drinks. Don’t bother going. Dodgy place!

Visitamos el Museo britanico y por casualidad entramos en este pub para comer. El restaurante lo tienen en la primera planta. Fue un acierto total. La comida esta muy buena y elaborada, es tipica britanica y los precios para lo que hay en londres son aceptables. Tienen varias cervezas de barril por lo que es un acierto. El servicio fué muy bueno y el camarero estuvo atento y fue muy agradable. Lo recomiendo si quieres sentirte en un ambiente británico.

Lovely staff. Plenty of good food. A nice private room at the top of the building with its own bar. If needed to have a party in town this is the place to be.

Working locally, popped in for a quick lunch,Saturday midday it was quiet, but filled up later, frequented by tourists and locals, limited menu offered, no real children's options, but fine for adults. of the 2 members of staff on duty, one was customer focused, the other, as a school inspector may say, needs improvement.

We were served promptly by a fabulous Kiwi bartender Aidan. Bespoke G&T selection. Great ales on tap. Good British “pub grub” by a fine Albanian chef. Would recommend without question to anyone who asked. Worth every penny!

The Old Crowne is a nice pub to have a beer. Given its location its always on the busy side either with people have drinks after work or tourists. Came here for a a bite to eat with friends before going out. I wasn't expecting a Gastro pub experience but some thing that was edible.The food when it arrived (2 x burger and fries + chicken wings) were cold. The fries were so white they looked like they had never seen a fryer and were not at all crispy. The guy who served them checked them at the table (by eating a sample) Whilst the burger looks 'good' the actual burger was a real cheap highly processed not what you expect.Wings were returned cold also. They didn't come before we left.Bartender server was obviously embarrassed with the food and got us a round of drinks to apologise.

Un agradable y concurrido bar con una buena selección de bebidas, etc.Estuvimos aquí para una función y tuvimos un buffet en el piso superior, que fue satisfactorio y abundante.Las instalaciones estaban bien, pero el acceso por las escaleras puede ser un poco precario para algunos, pero es un buen lugar para una celebración.

Got pushed out by 2 bouncers because I spilt my drink! I doubt that anyone whos paid for a drink would deliberatetly waste it by knocking it over. Accidents happen! But is it really neccesary to be shoved out by 2 bouncers?? I tried to explain outside what had happend but they werent having none of it. I was forced to end my night with my friends, who were still inside. Very rude bouncers who were probably just bored and had nothing better to do! Dont visit!

Este es un pub histórico muy acogedor en el corazón de Londres con el que he tenido una gran experiencia. Hice un evento aquí para 20 personas en su habitación superior, el personal fue muy servicial con la reserva, el servicio fue realmente bueno y todos disfrutaron de la comida, lo cual fue excelente. (Los mejores rollos de salchicha que he tenido durante algún tiempo). En todo momento, el personal verificaba que teníamos todo lo que queríamos y todos los invitados comentaron lo agradable que era el lugar. Volveremos para nuestros eventos futuros, o solo para el almuerzo cuando pase.

The Old Crown es un edificio único ubicado en la esquina de Museum Street y New Oxford Street. Es un paseo corto al Museo Británico. El pub se remonta a 1851 y tiene un carácter propio. El local está abierto al público en 3 plantas, todas con un ambiente diferente. The Old Crown es un escape de las concurridas calles que rodean y una vez que entras, tienes la impresión de que ha ofrecido esto por bastante tiempo. Puede encontrar una referencia a The Old Crown en la famosa Beer Street & Gin Lane de Hogarth desde 1751. El chapitel de la iglesia de la calle Gile está justo en el lado opuesto de la calle, por lo que es justo decir que hay algo de herencia.

This is your average British pub with good atmosphere but nothing spectacular. The food menu is your standard pub food that was not bad but nothing spectacular either. A good place to have a drink with friends

Paseando vimos este pub típico y entramos, el ambiente era el que concebíamos de un típico pub inglés, pero nos agasajaron con unas tapas gratuitas, pusieron musica española y nos brindaron un muy acogedor trato. Los chicos al cargo del pub habian estado en España y tenian muy buenos recuerdos y querian devolverlos de alguna forma, cuando se hace el bien siempre vuelve aunque no sepamos cuando. Fue una tarde magnifica.

It’s nice here, compact, but with a great atmosphere. It’s quite lovely and we just popped in for a couple of drinks, and luckily found a space, as there isn’t a huge amount of space.

On a Friday evening just about all the pubs in this area are packed. The Old Crown had plenty of standing space - so looked just the right venue to meet up with friends before dinner.

Llamado en nuestro camino al teatro y tenía una hamburguesas, pescado y patatas fritas y un pastel de carne. ale Todos eran buenos y superó nuestras expectativas como el pub estaba bastante tranquilo cuando llegamos. El personal es agradable y amable, el servicio fue rápido y precios razonables. Sin duda merece la pena una visita.

I went to this pub with 4 friends for the first and the last time. First of all I was I asked for a small beer and the barlady saw me in a weird way because we were 2 of us near the bar counter and she gave me a pint of it, then the we were sitted in a table of 4. My 2 friends after drink went out to smoke and one member of the staff removed 2 chairs where my friends were seatted, when we said to leave the chairs there for my friends he said that the dancefloor "MUST BE FREE" just in case the people want to dance, so my friends could not sit anymore, forced to stay up( and no one danced). This is very rude because we have paid to drink to stay there many times that night. We don't want to come back there anymore.

O pub é pequeno, mas muito bem localizado e super bem decorado com direito a Dj.

Having researched where to go for an early dinner on a Friday evening there was nothing to suggest online that this would not be a good place to go. Congregating at the bar we got out hands on a sparce menu and when we inquired about seating we were told there was more room upstairs. To cut a long story short, upstairs was dark (no lights on) and lifeless, downstairs had about 5 small tables in total and no food was being served. We finished our drinks and left.

Nos reunimos con amigos para tomar una copa antes de la cena y un espectáculo en el Teatro Shaftesbury. Comedor estaba arriba. Tenían un problema con algunos equipos de cocina, así que algunos de los artículos en el menú. Pero la camarera era fantástica y las cosas que elegimos eran de muy buena calidad. Tuve una comida vegetariana que no recuerdo el nombre, pero no es el tipo de cosas que normalmente encuentras en los menús, pub. Buena selección de cervezas. Qué maravillosa experiencia de entrar en este pub, con un ambiente cálido y acogedor. El barman, Irene, era muy amable y bien informado respecto a sus cervezas de barril. Gran noche hablando con la gente y disfrutar de unas cervezas.

Así fuimos al Teatro shaftesbury y fuimos a este pub a tomar una cerveza después de un lugar fantástico, un gran pub - UN VERDADERO LONDON PUB - Pensé Danny Dyer, Ricky o incluso puede aparecer Bianca! ! ! El personal del bar también saben...

Estábamos buscando un auténtico pub, no turística para visitar y definitivamente lo encontramos con la antigua corona. Buena comida, ambiente y el local después de multitud de trabajos realizados para una noche para recordar. Además, todos los camareros eran fantásticos. Joseph Beattie fue muy divertido, incluso se unió a nosotros para una bebida (fuera de servicio, por supuesto! )

Un pub muy amable de Tottenham Court Road. Nos reunimos allí para comodidad, pero nos sorprendió lo bueno y el ambiente era. Por no mencionar la comida es encantadora, especialmente los caseros rollitos de salchicha son excelentes. El precio de las bebidas son buenas para esa zona así como algo para todo el mundo.

Yo tenía una pinta varias veces en este pub en los últimos días y es muy amable. El personal del bar eran entretenidos cuando me preguntaron si me podían tomar notas escocesa - "curso legal no? ". Así es, aunque la razón por la que me pidieron fue la actitud seas desdeñoso que he tenido en los últimos años incluso hacia este "legal", muy bien hecho chicos por su actitud positiva.
