Great laid back chill pub around Camden Market. Our group of six was able to find a small corner to sit in upstairs - a bit of a tight squeeze but the environment was nice. Upstairs was definitely a bit quieter than downstairs. We only stopped in for a quick pint (go up to the bar and get your drink and then take a seat) and we enjoyed it!

Smells like klorak bleach What did you do? Did you excuse everyone to go out for 30 min and clean everywhere from scratch?

Great little Tavern, good food (great gluten-free selection), pleasant and helpful staff. We are due back very soon with 10 people on another outing.

Served very quickly and drinks were good. Served the incorrect food but honestly didn't bother to have it corrected as it was still good.

The staff here was so kind and the environment was so welcoming. I had such an amazing time here at the pub and I would highly recommend it to anyone in Camden. 10/10 will be back again.

He strikes the perfect balance between ensuring safety and creating a welcoming atmosphere. His presence makes me feel genuinely secure at this place. Highly recommend! Eli, the bartender, is exceptional! Attentive, friendly, and providing top-notch service.

Beautiful bar in the inside, however the staff and ambience of the bar is less than desirable. Not an hello, no please, no thank you, not friendly the staff make the atmosphere and this is the reason it's a 1 star. Only stayed for one drink due to feeling unwelcome.

Went in after a trip around the Camden market, tried Camden pale ale and it was refreshingly gorgeous. The staff were friendly and the pub was busy. Lovely place.

Address near Camden Market! The Lock Tavern offers a fun and cosmopolitan atmosphere, perfect for a family outing on the weekend. The terraces are pleasant. Ideal for a break after exploring the neighborhood. The fish and chips are good, the beer is ok. A good place to relax!

The Lock Tavern has always been my pub of choice in Camden, it's lost some of it's charm over the years but was still a nostalgic draw, and was why I suggested to friends we meet there yesterday. I had no problem being served by the lovely woman behind the bar and grabbed a table. My female friend joined us and went to get a round for the four of us, she returned 15 minutes later visibly shaken with no drinks. After patiently waiting for the male bar staff member to finish his long conversation with someone at the bar, he proceeded to ignore her and serve a bloke at the bar instead. When she pointed out she had been waiting patiently and was first, he took exception and refused to serve her, also stopping his colleague from serving her. I guess he didn't like a woman daring to suggest she should be served first as she had waited longest. There are so many other great pubs in this area so I won't miss this place. I'll keep the memories of when it was more friendly.

A really brilliant and cozy pub in Camden, opposite the market a little away from the hustle and bustle. We sat here chilling out in the beer garden and drank a few nice beers. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Camden Market, this is the place for you. Full five stars, I would be happy to come back and give a top recommendation!

Tidy little battleship with one of the world's smallest bogs. Anyone at chubby chasers may struggle to get to the armitage shanks. Beers kept well and worth a visit. Nice concealed garden but could find the roof terrace downstairs.

Was on a night out in Camden last night and found ourselves in The Lock Tavern. Great venue and amazing staff! A special mention to Isaac who had the worst job of the night cleaning up a drunk geezers vomit and was an absolute champ about it. The man deserves a pay rise from that clean up alone.

Great bar staff, busy enough and they work hard. Problem was the bar back server guy in glasses. Rude, obnoxious, terrible service, lied to my face about our food errors and tried to make our fault. Unfortunately this gentleman let the side down. Hats off to the rest of the team

Staff absolutely amazing, kitchen closed briefly for an event. Staff saw our kids trying to find a menu then brought chips, sliders and brownies as we weren’t able to order, very sweet!!

Typical English Pub. Kindness and good food. The price is great. You order, pay and they bring it to your table. The food has a slight spicy touch that makes it taste great. The waiters are super friendly and answer any questions you may have. Next to an access to Camden market.

The Lock Tavern has a great location and a fantastic atmosphere, making it a favorite spot for a night out. However, during our last visit, they were short of certain beers and spirits, so we couldn't get our preferred drinks. Despite this, the place is still worth visiting for its charm and lively vibe.

Perfect spot for food and drinks with friends! Booking was a breeze, atmosphere was amazing (and complemented by live music), staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend, especially the roof terrace on a sunny day! Thanks Lock Tavern ❤️

On our way to the tube station yesterday, we saw this pub had a roof terrace. We popped in for a drink and sat on the terrace. A nice atmosphere and experience. Would definitely return.

Extremely rude, verbally abusive member of staff almost pushed a female member of our group to get out of the garden when it closed (classic absurd uk pub rules) when she was just trying to get her jacket on, and after we paid £200 in drinks and food, and while other people where still sitting outside. Not giving them £1 again. All pubs are pretty much the same anyway. They can learn the essence of competition in economy and how to treat paying customers perhaps, before giving people with complexities an ounce of "authority" that makes them think they are "somebodies".

Reasonable place, a bit grimey. Drinks choices were varied but service was pretty slow. Music was really loud.

Zero sense of urgency! Many people waiting and very slow ladies behind the bar but super SUPER slow! And my friend told me she was here yesterday and she was totally ignored and ended up leaving before being served! Seriously SLOW!! But they are nice but feels like a team with no bar experience…

Looks small but the garden is,additional (small) space. Staff looked harried but managed to serve the customers in a timely manner.

Be very careful the amount the bar man put on your bank card. Had 2 identical rounds in here, the first one was £12 the second was over £18. Seems the staff are skimming off the customers and hoping you don't realise. I won't be going back.

If I could give this a 0 I would. Security were extremely rude & left a young girl outside alone without her friends and her phone. So dangerous.

I went here hungry & with not a lot of money. But I ordered The American & it was the best choice i ever made. the burger is the juiciest best burger to have graced this earth. guys, i ate the best burger in the world, i would have saved you some but it was so good i had to eat it. could’ve have added a few more chips though. 🫶🫶🫶 to the chef & everyone that served us

Disgusting behaviour. Was assaulted by a man in this bar and refused entry to collect my coat. Security humiliated me and told me I was too drunk when i was emotional and refused entry when i was upset and requested my jacket. Do not go to this club if you are a single female.

Bar staff didn't have the knack to see who was next, they just served whoever and some people waited at the bar for ages. Also, it was really busy and they decided to do some training which slowed things down again despite there only being two members of staff. However, the back space outside was brilliant!

Brilliant hidden fire pit and decent selection of ales

The atmosphere is great BUT NOT THE security guards, who are aggressive and discriminate. Without an explanation, they decided that my male friend, who went out to have a video call, was not allowed to enter back into the bar, then they got into physical contact and using very bad words against us(2 girls and a male), celebrating a birthday. It used to be once a decent place.

I’m so sorry guys but I have to leave a review for the DJ on New Year’s Eve. We actually had to leave because the DJ was so poor and completely killed the atmosphere!! Big pauses between songs, terrible transition. It was actually wild how bad this poor man was. Rooftop and outside closed way too early at 10:45pm and made it absolutely packed inside. Needed to be more controlled how many people were let in. Didn’t even change tv channel to the fireworks so the whole midnight countdown was missed. Bartenders could do with smiling a bit, I know it’s not fab working on NYE but come on, a bit of vibes behind the bar woulda been fab😂

One of my favourites pubs in London ! Not the cheapest, but vibes are so good, with the cozy area upstairs and the beer garden.

Lovely atmosphere and prompt service. Team were very friendly and accommodating. Venue was very busy and tricky to navigate through, but lots of outside space and defo a venue I would like to return to.

Torrid food experience. I paid a £10 deposit to secure a table beforehand but when I arrived 40 minutes early no one could find my booking or table for 20 minutes. When eventually the table and booking was found we were told that they had run out of Sunday Dinners (the only thing on the menu). They claimed they had tried to ring me to reserve some food (they hadn’t) and then they said they had emailed me as well. When I check, they had emailed me about the food situation, while I was at the bar waiting for my table. Eventually they cobbled together some scraps of a dinner with what they had left, there was no vegetarian options left so they said they could do something with cauliflower cheese. The food was cold when it arrived and when we were charged for it they didn’t take off the £10 deposit I had already paid and also had the cheek to charge us full price for both meals plus extra for the cauliflower cheese! After we’d finished we enquired about dessert as we were still hungry from what was essentially a plate of vegetables for £18, and we were told the kitchen was not shut. Then to top it off they ran out of the beer we were drinking. Shocking experience overall really.

Lovely food and quick service but unfortunately experience was ruined by a very rude member of your staff who took it upon herself to be snappy and giving attitude to my family who are visiting here. She clearly doesn’t like tourists and was rude to me after I called her out on being extremely rude to my cousin who doesn’t speak much English. More training needed for this member of staff. Won’t be returning again. I think it’s safe to say she hates her job

The barmaid tried to charge me 70 pounds for a 17 pound bill on the card machine. Now that is a difficult mistake to make. No slip of the fingers. Very fast presentation of the machine to me and I slowed her down to view the amount before bringing my card near. And I challenged her on it. She corrected the amount in a non apologetic and arrogant way which told me they do this habitually. Avoid this place at all costs!

Nice people, well prepared food

Awful experience: poor standards and appalling customer service in a very generic setting. This used to be my local in the early to mid-2010s before it changed hands and was refurbished in 2018. It used to host excellent gigs and DJs, the atmosphere was great and the roast and burgers were the best in Camden. This was my first visit after the refurb having previously been put off by the new look. Once inside, my first impression was that the flowers outside, the new decor and wallpaper are more “small town hotel pub” than Camden iconic destination. Sadly the excellent music programme and stage have long gone, and the place has lots its character and atmosphere. Live music is more than hosting a local musician with a guitar, as was the case today (no offence to the musician who was quietly playing in the background this evening). More than anything else though, my negative review is due to the poor standards of service and cleanliness I experienced that should have no place in a pub of this type. I went to order a few drinks and to my surprise my white wine was poured in a spritz glass with a large Aperol logo on it. The pub was not busy, it was 5.30pm on a Sunday, but apparently they had run out of wine glasses and the only other option was going to be a tumbler, and there was no acknowledgement on the bartender’s side that this was not ideal, in fact, he was quite annoyed that I had asked if it would be possible to have my wine in a wine glass. The answer was unapologetic: “I can give you a tumbler, we’ve run out of wine glasses”. Reluctantly, I took my drinks and went to sit down when I noticed lipstick marks on both sides of the wine glass. I went back, explained the issue (I even started with “I’m sorry, I’ve just noticed…” despite this not being my fault at all). The bartender went to the other end of the bar and, after checking a handful of tumblers for cleanliness (and putting them back down in the same place as they were probably not up to standard either!!), he eventually found a decent one and without a single word or facial acknowledgement he just put down the tumbler in front of me and turned away. I couldn’t believe that I had to then explain that, given the first glass was clearly dirty, I couldn’t just pour the same wine from the dirty glass into the tumbler. Again, without any acknowledgement or apology, the bartender went to speak to a colleague who confirmed he could pour me a fresh drink. I appreciate that occasionally glasses can come out of the dishwasher cycle with lipstick residues, that is not what I’m disappointed about, but it’s the way the issue was dealt with that is disappointing. Mishaps happen, somehow pubs can run out of glasses even if it’s a quiet night… but what was below basic pub standards was the disappointing service I received, and the fact that I was not told they had no more wine glasses before ordering. Had I known, I would have ordered a different drink. I hope the member of staff with the long hair and moustache gets some training on drinks presentation and customer service. I assumed they may be new to the job, but this someone who has worked there for months, judging by Instagram. Lastly, the back garden roof is now all covered in plexiglas allowing no air circulation at all. It’s basically like an enclosed smoking area. It is also worth noting that during this visit most of the toilets were out of service.
