One of my favourite camden pubs. Well, one of the few from my youth that still exist

Had drinks here for St.patricks weekend. Was a blast

Nice London boozer with a bit of an alternative edge.

Been here a few times & always enjoyed it. It's a proper pub. Good selection of beers, decent cocktails, served in a proper old school boozer.

Couldn't spend more £s here....because the service was so off hand and impersonal. NO acknowledgement of presence...even sitting AT the bar. It wasn't even majorly busy! Times have changed at The Lock !! 👎🏾

Bar staff didn't have the knack to see who was next, they just served whoever and some people waited at the bar for ages. Also, it was really busy and they decided to do some training which slowed things down again despite there only being two members of staff. However, the back space outside was brilliant!

Brilliant hidden fire pit and decent selection of ales

The atmosphere is great BUT NOT THE security guards, who are aggressive and discriminate. Without an explanation, they decided that my male friend, who went out to have a video call, was not allowed to enter back into the bar, then they got into physical contact and using very bad words against us(2 girls and a male), celebrating a birthday. It used to be once a decent place.

It was very crowded here in the evening and there was a good atmosphere. It was hip hop, which I really liked.

Brilliant atmosphere, polite and attentive staff. It was a group of around 20 of us and we all had great time. Loved live performance and fast service. Massive place + rooftop with heaters and seating. Recommend and will be returning!

I’m so sorry guys but I have to leave a review for the DJ on New Year’s Eve. We actually had to leave because the DJ was so poor and completely killed the atmosphere!! Big pauses between songs, terrible transition. It was actually wild how bad this poor man was. Rooftop and outside closed way too early at 10:45pm and made it absolutely packed inside. Needed to be more controlled how many people were let in. Didn’t even change tv channel to the fireworks so the whole midnight countdown was missed. Bartenders could do with smiling a bit, I know it’s not fab working on NYE but come on, a bit of vibes behind the bar woulda been fab😂

One of my favourites pubs in London ! Not the cheapest, but vibes are so good, with the cozy area upstairs and the beer garden.

Lovely atmosphere and prompt service. Team were very friendly and accommodating. Venue was very busy and tricky to navigate through, but lots of outside space and defo a venue I would like to return to.

Service is slow but they are always so busy. 4 stars for the extreme high prices

Hard to give a good review when nearly all the food on the menu had run out. The sausage’s my friend had were okay but not worth £15. There was nothing left I wanted to eat… so I didn’t

There wasn't any food at the time we visited and the back area closed early. Other than that it was very pleasant and the service was excellent.

Torrid food experience. I paid a £10 deposit to secure a table beforehand but when I arrived 40 minutes early no one could find my booking or table for 20 minutes. When eventually the table and booking was found we were told that they had run out of Sunday Dinners (the only thing on the menu). They claimed they had tried to ring me to reserve some food (they hadn’t) and then they said they had emailed me as well. When I check, they had emailed me about the food situation, while I was at the bar waiting for my table. Eventually they cobbled together some scraps of a dinner with what they had left, there was no vegetarian options left so they said they could do something with cauliflower cheese. The food was cold when it arrived and when we were charged for it they didn’t take off the £10 deposit I had already paid and also had the cheek to charge us full price for both meals plus extra for the cauliflower cheese! After we’d finished we enquired about dessert as we were still hungry from what was essentially a plate of vegetables for £18, and we were told the kitchen was not shut. Then to top it off they ran out of the beer we were drinking. Shocking experience overall really.

Lovely food and quick service but unfortunately experience was ruined by a very rude member of your staff who took it upon herself to be snappy and giving attitude to my family who are visiting here. She clearly doesn’t like tourists and was rude to me after I called her out on being extremely rude to my cousin who doesn’t speak much English. More training needed for this member of staff. Won’t be returning again. I think it’s safe to say she hates her job

Absolutely, the pub in Camden Town is a hidden gem that you simply can’t miss. The barmaid tried to charge me 70 pounds for a 17 pound bill on the card machine. Now that is a difficult mistake to make. No slip of the fingers. Very fast presentation of the machine to me and I slowed her down to view the amount before bringing my card near. And I challenged her on it. She corrected the amount in a non apologetic and arrogant way which told me they do this habitually. Avoid this place at all costs!

Mid-week drink. Good space with enclosed outside courtyard with heaters. Didn't see roof terrace as closed. Even has photo booth outside. One of the better pubs outside of Camden Station's immediate vincinity🥃

Nice people, well prepared food

Awful experience: poor standards and appalling customer service in a very generic setting. This used to be my local in the early to mid-2010s before it changed hands and was refurbished in 2018. It used to host excellent gigs and DJs, the atmosphere was great and the roast and burgers were the best in Camden. This was my first visit after the refurb having previously been put off by the new look. Once inside, my first impression was that the flowers outside, the new decor and wallpaper are more “small town hotel pub” than Camden iconic destination. Sadly the excellent music programme and stage have long gone, and the place has lots its character and atmosphere. Live music is more than hosting a local musician with a guitar, as was the case today (no offence to the musician who was quietly playing in the background this evening). More than anything else though, my negative review is due to the poor standards of service and cleanliness I experienced that should have no place in a pub of this type. I went to order a few drinks and to my surprise my white wine was poured in a spritz glass with a large Aperol logo on it. The pub was not busy, it was 5.30pm on a Sunday, but apparently they had run out of wine glasses and the only other option was going to be a tumbler, and there was no acknowledgement on the bartender’s side that this was not ideal, in fact, he was quite annoyed that I had asked if it would be possible to have my wine in a wine glass. The answer was unapologetic: “I can give you a tumbler, we’ve run out of wine glasses”. Reluctantly, I took my drinks and went to sit down when I noticed lipstick marks on both sides of the wine glass. I went back, explained the issue (I even started with “I’m sorry, I’ve just noticed…” despite this not being my fault at all). The bartender went to the other end of the bar and, after checking a handful of tumblers for cleanliness (and putting them back down in the same place as they were probably not up to standard either!!), he eventually found a decent one and without a single word or facial acknowledgement he just put down the tumbler in front of me and turned away. I couldn’t believe that I had to then explain that, given the first glass was clearly dirty, I couldn’t just pour the same wine from the dirty glass into the tumbler. Again, without any acknowledgement or apology, the bartender went to speak to a colleague who confirmed he could pour me a fresh drink. I appreciate that occasionally glasses can come out of the dishwasher cycle with lipstick residues, that is not what I’m disappointed about, but it’s the way the issue was dealt with that is disappointing. Mishaps happen, somehow pubs can run out of glasses even if it’s a quiet night… but what was below basic pub standards was the disappointing service I received, and the fact that I was not told they had no more wine glasses before ordering. Had I known, I would have ordered a different drink. I hope the member of staff with the long hair and moustache gets some training on drinks presentation and customer service. I assumed they may be new to the job, but this someone who has worked there for months, judging by Instagram. Lastly, the back garden roof is now all covered in plexiglas allowing no air circulation at all. It’s basically like an enclosed smoking area. It is also worth noting that during this visit most of the toilets were out of service.

The Lock Tavern it’s been always one of my favourite place in London. Atmosphere is still ok but Unfortunately I have to say I had a really bad experience recently. I booked tables for 23 people in the garden on Saturday evening. The person in charge of the booking ensured me that we could have 3 big tables so we could sit together. I was celebrating my birthday and I specifically asked at what time the kitchen close on Saturday as we wanted have dinner. She told me last order for food is 9.15pm and because was my birthday I could have complementary Prosecco . Well, we arrived at 8pm ( booking time) and we got 2 separate tables. First thing that went wrong. We tried to order food but they give us only a “late night menu” that basically was fries and small portion of chicken. They also have pizza margherita (14£) in that menu but they pizza was already finished ( we try to order food at 8.20pm! ) . The poor staff was completely unprepared to answer any of our questions. I try to talk with the manager ( or supervisor) in charge ; he laughed at me and he just said “ food stop at 8pm, after that only night menu’.” At that point I didn’t want ruin my night and we ordered the small dinner they were offering. Few people and I ordered and paid for foods that it never arrived at the table. I did come back and talk with the person in charge and he said that they checked all the orders and he was sure that the food left the kitchen and probably someone else at the table eats our food or perhaps the food was delivered to another table. He, once again, laughed in my face telling me he can’t do anything and he can offer me a bottle of Prosecco ( that I supposed to have as complementary and I never received). Again, never received the Prosecco or any try to sort the situation. We wanted have good time and we didn’t complain too much but we will never come back. The manager was rude and unhelpful, I understand that was busy night , maybe they were under staff, I worked in a pub I know what does mean manage a lots people but you can always explain your reasons and make people happy with small gesture and definitely no laughing in my face when I try to explain what it was going wrong. Be professional because at the end of the day we spend a lots money in “your”place . Sadly this place is not anymore the coolest pub in camden definitely no a place to have party , it’s just a random pub with a nice garden.

I love the lock tavern and it unlocked my decrepit heart. The cider quenched my thirst as we walked in 30 degree heat, the beer garden was vibin and had lots of open tables, and bar service was quick and friendly! I love thé rooftop bar but unfortunately it was closed so lost a star for that bc TRULY that’s the peak attraction for me. Camden, the lock tavern is your main port!

They charge for service when ordering food at the bar, which isn't made clear and is inexplicably applied to all items on the bill including drinks. Wouldn't mind so much if the pizzas weren't already overpriced and of average quality. Would never go again for anything more than a drink.

A few minutes walk away from the market is a pub with a beer garden and food. It was all pretty good for an early Thursday afternoon! I had fish and chips and they were good. Next time swap out the chunky fries for skinny for me!

The experience here was very much mired by the staggeringly inefficient and untrained bar staff. There were multiple staff who were clearly almost brand new. This made queues at the bar frankly ridiculous, even on a Wednesday evening. There's a nice beer garden, at least

Great atmosphere, beautiful terrace/garden with pretty decoration. Garden is partially covered. No need to worry about the rain. Only when you leave. 😝 Food is great. 🍔 One day we tried a vegan jackfruit burger and a classy beef. I wanted to replace the fries to sweet potato, and they charged extra for it instead of just swap them. They told me I have to pay extra is true. 🤓But like that it was overpriced. I payed around £58 💸 for two burgers with a swapped fries to sweet potato. Just be aware when you ask any extra or swap. 🤨 Second time we were there for Sunday Roast. It was amazing. I didn’t expected to be that good. Well done team. Would be back for another Sunday Roast for sure. Great vibrant environment.

Christie was amazing! She made the banging bloody Mary’s and dealt with our army of people making 20 drinks at a time. Big up the queen of the Bloody Mary!!! ❤️

It's a great place with friendly staff. All the food we tried was tasty - fish&chips, pizza, sausage&mash. Quite a peaceful pub although it was a Sat afternoon and crowds at the market. I would recommend that without question.

Never been served by such rude staff with disgusting attitudes. Also a side note, you’ll be waiting at least 30 minutes a time at the bar, especially on Thursday 2-4-1 cocktail night. The top floor toilets were disgusting and urine all over the floor literally seeping down stairs to the roof terrace floor.

We went to The Lock tavern for a late night drink. I ordered a beer and my partner ordered an Espresso Martini. While I was waiting for the cocktail, i was was watching the barman. He opened a suspiciously dirty container, which looked putrid. He then poured this "liquid" into her Martini. I thought nothing of it at the time. We went home sometime later, where, my partner was violently sick several times. You need to know this.

What a great discovery in Camden!.. I'm sure it's no surprise to locals and those who frequent the Roundhouse but it was a first for us. Lots of space in the bar, terrace, and gardens... we sat int eh rear garden which was buzzy and had a great atmosphere. Lager on tap was maybe a little limited compared to some but they did have a few staples which was good. Food appeared a little pricey at first glance but we were hopeful... and the kitchen did NOT dissapoint.. the burgers were AMAZING!!!. Friendly staff behind the bar... great food, good buzz... I'd definitely return!

Super gemütliche Bar mit sehr nettem Personal. Man fühlt sich dort richtig wohl. Die Lokalität ist riesig und hat zusätzlich Dachterassen und einen Biergarten. Die Getränkeauswahl ist ebenfalls sehr groß. Von den Preisen her ist es okay.

Love this pub….it’s my favourite Camden venue. Visited with my wonderful son for an early evening meal, as per the staff were excellent BUT the food very very disappointing….I ordered the Caesar salad which I have to say was more than disappointing…limp lettuce, stale croutons , one egg and 2 of the smallest anchovies …. I should have sent it back when it turned up looking like a poor excuse of a salad….let’s hope it improves next time…….my sons Fish and chips was equally as weak but let him leave his own review. Apart from that I still like the venue and the staff , just have a word with the kitchen…….xx

Honestly the food isn’t all that, but amber served me at the bar and not only did she make me the sexiest espresso martini but she’s got all the craic! Totally coming back

Popped into this pub for a quick drink, great pub with a fantastic roof terrace. Ordered drinks and watched the world go by. Fantastic view of the market, great atmosphere and really busy as around 6pm on a Saturday Would definitely return. Didn't order anything to eat but the food looked delicious

El lugar, ambiente y el local están genial, pero el camarero intentó timarnos... Dos veces! Primero pedimos las cervezas, y con la excusa de que no había leído bien la tarjeta, nos lo cobró una segunda vez. Al llegar dos mensajes de cobro al móvil, comprobamos los movimientos en la app del banco y lo habían cobrado dos veces. Pensamos que habría sido un error, pero al pedir comida, volvió a pasar lo mismo. Pedimos el reembolso del dinero (obviamente) y ni se inmutaron ni el camarero ni la encargada, como si fuera algo normal allí. Más tarde, al comprobar el cambio de libras a Euros, vimos que nos habían devuelto dos libras menos. Desde luego, cero recomendable por el servicio. Una pena, con el local tan chulo que es.

We booked a Sunday Bank Holiday afternoon, booking was very easy, lovely lady on the phone. Good selection of pints, we had the Peach Beer. Burger was of a pretty good standard, but lacked a bit of garnish. Good enough beer garden to spend the afternoon in. No sports TVs available. Tables were not good for touch cup, if you know what that means.

Si sois de otro país no vayáis, porque os van a intentar estafar. Nosotros pagamos con tarjeta y nos cobraron dos veces diciéndonos que el primer pago con la tarjeta no había funcionado. Menos mal que nos dio por mirar los pagos en la app del banco, si no nos la cuelan pero bien. Cuando se lo dijimos nos lo devolvieron, pero si no se lo llegamos a decir nos cobran el doble. Por lo visto se lo hacen a todos los turistas. Lamentable trato, NO VAYÁIS.

Fijaos bien en la cuenta porque nos cobraron dos veces tanto por las bebidas como por la comida. Pensé que se había tratado de un error pero después de leer dos reseñas, ya me hace cuestionarme si realmente lo fue. Me cobraron las bebidas y me hizo pasar la tarjeta dos veces diciendo que había dado error y con la comida ocurrió lo mismo (me cobraron primero lo uno y luego lo otro). Si la entidad bancaria con la que trabajo no me hubiese enviado los cuatro mensajes, no me habría dado cuenta de la duplicidad y fueron casi 100€ más al cambio. Reclamé y me lo devolvieron, pero ahora comprobando los tickets, me doy cuenta de que me han devuelto unos 2€ menos. Mucho cuidado porque os hacen pasar la tarjeta primero con Contact Less y os dicen que ha dado error y luego te hacen introducir la tarjeta y que metas el PIN para que la entidad bancaria no deniegue la duplicidad al pasar el cargo con la misma forma de pago en menos de 5 minutos.

The place was nice with a lovely garden and roof terrace. We went for a drink and even though was very busy, we found a place to sit down. The drinks were good and the weather was amazing.

Gréât roof top patio! Very pretty and delicious beverages. Only issue was the installed bar was closed (it was a Tuesday afternoon) so we had to go downstairs to order, which was totally fine

Ce dimanche midi le menu du dimanche était réduit à sa plus simple expression : sunday rost , fish and chips , burgers … pas de salades pourtant à la carte du dimanche Nous etions 6 adultes et 3 enfants réservation OBLIGATOIRE !!! Service sympa !

What can I say ..a brilliant place, a Pandora's box of a pub. Sit for a moment, enjoy and then look at the garden, delightful. Oh, pop upstairs and look at the bar and roof garden, not missing out on the lovely hidden room next to the bar. The place is simply delightful. Then we address the staff, thank you for lovely service and the best smiles. Loads of keg beers but, as far as I am aware, not the place for real ale drinkers, it doesn't say it is, so, sorry but still a great place. I have never put so many commas in a single sentence: sorry to my teachers of yesteryear.

My favourite pub since 2017, always makes me feel at home. Great beers, various menu, amazing terrace and a magical backside where you can drink sitting around a big fireplace. Perfect for lunches, dinners, happy hours and nights out. My heart is definitely there! xx

It's rare I find myself wanting to write a review of a night from a few weeks ago. I've been to the Lock Tavern before, and every single time I go completely outdoes the last time. Rahela was a delight and Muna was an absolute diamond. To call you ladies professional, kind, courteous, friendly, bubbly and welcoming would be an understatement. The drinks kept flowing and I had a wonderful time with my family. I absolutely loved my time here, again, and a huge thanks to the staff for the joy of their company at many brief points through the night! Fabulous drinks + Wonderful staff and a Hot fireplace - what more could you ask for!? All the best,

Hvis man er til special øl som mig, så er dette IKKE stedet at drikke øl, men der er en god stemning, og musikken er helt tilpas, så man også har mulighed for at snakke med hinanden.

We popped into The Lock Tavern ahead of our Peaky Blinders immersive experience across the road at Camden. Whilst we didn’t eat save for a couple packets of crisps, which was duly washed down with a round of drinks. The food coming out of the kitchen did look pretty good to be fair HOWEVER post a quick visit to their toilets I certainly won’t be eating there any time soon. They were in a word disgusting. They smelt, had paper towels all over and not a drop of soap in sight! After leaving the toilet I reported this to a young lady behind the bar, which didn’t seem to get any response whatsoever. I watched from our table to see if she spoke to anyone after my complaint and she just went on to serve customers drinks as though I hadn’t existed. All very strange indeed.

I can’t remember how to spell her name but mailka is the most amazing waitress. She was so polite and amazing to our very large groups needs. So positive and smiley and nothing was an issue. Can’t thank her enough for making our experience here amazing!! Thank you ❤️

Came here for birthday drinks for a friend, so sat near the fire pit outside. Quick service, nice atmosphere, would recommend.

OK pub but they probably thought we were tourists so they overcharged us 🤷‍♀️ mistake was admitted very naturally so maybe its not a rare occurrence, never happened to me in a pub before though . 1 star so you are more careful next time x

Touristes, restez vigilants ! Voici mon expérience : "Prenez-vous la carte Visa ?" "Oui." Nous déjeunons, donc. Puis, nous demandons à plusieurs reprises l'addition... Soudain :" SO SORRY, problem, no card, just CASH!" Nous n'en avons plus ! Nous faisons 1 retrait pour régler les 82 livres S. demandés et non justifiés par un ticket de caisse, on nous fait sortir du restaurant que les employés ferment à clés . Mais, un calcul mental rapide, sur le trottoir, fait apparaître une addition de 69 livres. Je toque à la porte pour demander le remboursement aux employés pas du tout étonnées qui nous remboursent sans sourciller🙄 ! Bien tenté mesdames le coup de la machine à cartes en panne, mais c'est raté ! Pas de chance, cette fois vous êtes tombées sur une touriste francaise près de ses sous ! 🤪
