Whilst the waiting staff were nice and friendly. Service was slow. We waited almost an hour for food. The food arrived lukewarm and the kids meals were missing items. It's extremely pricey for below average food and certainly overpriced. More like wetherspoons with ritz pricing.

Had Sunday Roast (29Sept24) and found it very poor standard for the price, Roast potatoes were very poor as they tasted stale from being out under heat lamps as my guess, certainly did not come across as being fresh roasties. Overall the food was in my opinion bland, to be honest you get much better value if you went to a Toby Carvery ! Left feeling disappointed after bringing family along as it is in a great location but let down with the quality of food on our plate. We were given a £20 discount at the end but then the meal was over £120.00 which did include1 drink each.

Very accommodating as arrived without a booking, food however was really disappointing. Also very expensive even if food was good.

Really lovely meal, great food- recommended the rib eye steak, good wine selection. Staff friendly and attentive. Worth a visit!

Serving bad food is one thing but being overpriced on top of it is a quite an achievement.

We called in here for a drink and something to eat, has We are staying near by. We all had fish and chips which were excellent and so was the service

We've booked a table on a Sunday and we've got lucky they were serving Roasted Dinner. Everything was nice and smooth from the greeting to the serving of the food. We decided to sit outside which means you have to order the food from the bar. We can safely say we went there for a meal and we ended up having a feast! We enjoyed the food so much, it was perfectly cooked, hot, fresh and very tasty. Plus the lake view is really the cherry on top! We loved it so much! Highly recommend.

Food selection is a little limited, and based on Italian cuisine. Only a small restaurant, nice position, overlooking the lake. Service was very poor though, no idea why, [no large parties in there.] Prices of wine are a bit steep. Portions are reasonable.

Service was uninterested...had to take dirty dishes back myself. Food overpriced, and certainly had better locally at a cheaper price. I have a holiday home locally....will not be recommended to my renters

The building and the view are the best part of this dining experience. Food is overpriced for the quality you get and the service is slow even though the restaurant wasn’t full. Music to loud and genre quite inappropriate for an evening meal. Wouldn’t bother eating here again if I stayed at the hotel again.

After booking the wrong boathouse, the lady on reception very kindly fitted us in.... I wish she hadn't bothered!! The roast dinner was shockingly bad. More fat then meat on the pork, things missing off the plate. No flavour to anything. Rock hard potatoes and paranips. Best thing on the plate was the gravy. Will never return which is a shame as it has lovely surroundings. They did discount my meal from the bill.... but after really looking forward to a roast dinner with my family left very disappointed.

Turned up on a Tuesday night, car park empty place barely half full and we got turned away as no space and fully booked. We didn't like the tone or lack of apology from the greeter; no effort to squeeze us in and very poor of the De Vere hotel to either not make it clear we should book or to not ensure hotel guests get priority. Offered an 8:30 booking or advised to go to the Brasserie but its not cheap or family friendly; 8:30 for 2 two toddlers slso far too late. Having eaten here before its a place of convenience (to the hotel), food & service is average and there are far far better places to visit locally. What it does have in its favour is a great setting - bit thats not enough I say go elsewhere.

We have been asked to place our order before 8pm from a menu with only roasts which is. It said on the website when booking. The manager seems on drug, the waiter is asking if I want a « Yorki » after an hour waiting. The food is as dry as hell, veggies not cooked properly, hard and the gravy is like dish water.

Lucky with the beautiful weather when we booked as sitting on the decking overlooking the lake was just amazing. Food was decent, though not overwhelming. Biggest complaint is 1 toilet!!! Absolutely ridiculous to have 1 toilet!

The food is very expensive and appalling. Left basically all of it and left. I don't eat mcdonald's however that would have been better.

Nice place to have a meal and a drink. Food was superb, staff are friendly and polite. Restaurant had a nice vibe about it. You can take your dog there too.

Probably the worst service & food for the price I've ever had. On arrival we decided to sit outside as my daughter has hyper sensitive to chill etc, we informed the staff when placing our order, we ordered appropriate food and awaited food. The calamari starter that myself & son had was described in menu with garlic aioli & lemon it arrived with small side salad with CHILLI'S & CHILLI SAUCE. My daughter evacuated to another table away from us and within seconds had to take piriton tablets. My daughter ordered the Heritage tomato & buffalo mozzarella Focaccia toast, basil oil, aged balsamic starter that came with 1 half of a tomato only Main courses were not much better my daughter ordered greak salad Heritage tomatoes, cucumber, olives, red onions, with added chicken breast again the tomatoes were in short supply and the chicken. My wife ordered Lasagne verdi with Garlic foccacia, brought better from waitrose I'm afraid. I ordered fish & chips which was ok but not at £19.00+. My son had the burger with he found very dry but edible, he also ordered GIANT ONION RINGS good job they weren't small ones probably would not find them. All in all for over £120.00 it was abysmal. Sorry it's long winded but need to make people aware of this place.

Starter was really nice main was terrible. Beetroot burger wasn't a proper burger, fish and chips clearly had been warmed up. Awful Service and staff nice. I'd try somewhere else.

Absolutely shocking food. The old Boat house is a beautiful place to look at, it’s a shame about the food and often the service too. Will never be going back here again, and will Stop telling friends and clients about this place. So sad, as it used to be great when it first opened. Over priced!

Food was mixed quality for the price. The cauliflower 'steak' is a soggy mess, and the steaks weren't cooked correctly. Service was very slow even though it was not very busy. They need to be available at all tables not hiding /chatting.

Lovely location and great food let down by the service staff! Such a shame as the food was lovely; our steak was some of the best I've had. This business should be booming with people queuing out the door. 1) Google said it was closed, when actually open. 2) Staffed moaned when we arrived and delayed our booking by 1.5hrs saying they were full. Arrived later to find it 1/4 full with dirty plates on most free tables. 3) Forgot part of our order (for two people). 4) Didn't bother offering condiments or asking if we wanted any desserts. 5) We had to find the staff to pay the bill!

Had a really excellent celebration meal here with a group of 6 friends. The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and super efficient. Especially thanks to our waitress Josie who looked after us so well. Also Manager Natalie who ensured everything was spot on.

We went for my mother in laws birthday as we were staying in the area. It took 1 hour for someone to take our food order. All waiting staff appeared to be behind the bar or absent. A total general lack of urgency! A shame as the setting is beautiful

We went there for our 51st wedding anniversary, we booked 2 weeks in advance, we had a text 2 days before to confirm. The waitresses were spot on, I don't eat certent food but they were happy to give me an alternative. The meal was well presented and only took 10 mins from ordering to table. The sweets were absolutely superb!!! Overall a great experience. If were in this area again we will come back for a meal.

We had seen the varied reviews on the old boathouse but decided to give it a try given the close proximity to our holiday house. The restaurant itself is well appointed and has a nice feel about it. We had a late booking so were unable to see the lake but can understand it would be quite nice to look out on. The service was sub-par. It took about 40 mins in total to recieve our drinks order. We did recieve part of the drinks order for free due to the length of time we waited. One of us had the fish and chips which was perfectly acceptable and the other had the lamb shank which was tasteless, bland and highly disappointing! All in all overpriced for what we got. We would not recommend or return.

One of the best steaks I've had recently. Cater for allergies, dog friendly, friendly and helpful staff, nice atmosphere. Best to book in advance as gets quite busy. Highly recommend a visit.

My husband and I stayed at the Devere Hotel and were really struggling to find somewhere to eat. My husband phoned up to book a table (english isnt his first language) and the lady was really rude on the phone and said no tables for you and hung up. I thought it was strange so I phones back (english speaking) and was given a table straight away for the time I wanted. It was such a shame they were so rude to my husband, we had no choice to eat there as couldn't book a table anywhere else. The food and service was really lovely, we had a lovely evening there. Such a shame we almost didn't have a table and was lucky I called back. Was very disappointing.

Staff are great but the customers are annoying

WE GOT FOOD POISONING A group of nine of us visited for Sunday lunch, four of us got food poisoning. We’ve tried contacting the restaurant several times to discuss this with them but have not been able to get through over the phone, and emails have been ignored. The roast itself was not worth the money (food poisoning aside). The Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were clearly from the freezer and there was no flavour to anything. The meal ruined the end of our holiday and resulted in most of us missing days of work after.

The location is amazing. Unfriendly and unprofessional stuff. The roast dinner was awful: the small cubes of vegetables were undercooked and Yorkshire pudding was defrosted and warmed up. Instead of fruit salad we ordered, they gave a veg salad to us . The desert menu haven’t been offered at all. Avoid this place. Very disappointed.((((

Expensive & not much choice on the menu. Is not separated from Devere next door, it's owned by them. Service charge should not be added, at all. This company is just taking your money. Avoid is my advice

Absolutely horrible. The place was so noisy that I could barely hear my wife in front of me, between the table of four people who were talking and laughing way too loudly, the music too present and the sounds of breaking glass, it felt more like a canteen than in a restaurant. The staff are helpful but the food is terrible, the "artisanal" bread (at six pounds!!) is bland and tasteless as if the artisan had made a mistake in the recipe and had preferred to take out frozen bread to apologize . The fries are frozen and the vegetable risotto is inedible, the steak is okay, just ordinary and the quantities are mediocre. The sauce is charged (2.5 pounds) which is once again unacceptable. The drinks are ok but completely overpriced. Finally, we left just after the course without having cheese or dessert because the noise was becoming unbearable and the wait was too long. For an experience like this, for two drinks, two mediocre dishes and a few pieces of frozen bread, we got almost 80 pounds (!!), which is completely inconceivable for a meal of this quality. When we see the other comments, we see that nothing is done to make the offer better correspond to the price or the quality expected for a meal in a setting like this. I will never set foot in this restaurant again and I hope that those who read this will not make the mistake of setting foot there either, otherwise they will surely end up being as disappointed as everyone who posted a comment like this one before them.

The menu here ( on google reviews) is badly out of date and prices sharply increased. Walked out before ordering as no burgers on the menu (for the kids).

This place is beautiful the interior shame about the staff and food the staff were lovely but clueless countless bottles and glasses smashed long waits for food not even in a busy restaurant… food come out all at different times and wrong to what we ordered… then when we received the mains it was freezing cold not coming here again way to expensive and over priced

Nice venue - lovely view and a very clean and bright interior, and the staff were all very friendly and polite. But the food was really not great. We went on a Sunday and the main option for adults on the menu was Sunday Roast, with a small handful of other options. Most of us ordered a pork belly roast, which came with limp, under-seasoned carrot, parsnip and broccoli and a small cube of pork belly. The pork belly was a small portion of dry meat yet not crispy - the fat had not rendered and was in no way crisp. One of the pork bellies came as two cubes and looked slightly different to all the others. The potatoes were tough but not crispy on the outside and on-the-edge of cooked in the middle. Two were served with a Yorkshire pudding, two without. Upon requesting the Yorkshire puddings one was served with a hair embedded in the batter. All the Yorkshire puddings were sad and presumably from frozen. Overall it was not a hugely generous portion, but not too bad. I would not have wanted to eat more of it. We also ordered onion rings, which were the kind of lifeless rings you get in Iceland intended to live in your freezer. We also ordered a kids' portion of Sunday roast, which was exactly the same size as the adult portions, if not bigger, just served on a smaller plate. It was less than 1/2 the price of the adult portions. At nearly £20 per roast we'd hoped for better, and it's a shame because the venue and staff suggested the promise of good things.

Whilst 3/4 of the meals were fine, fish was over cooked and borderline inedible. Mentioned this to waitress who said she would speak to chef but heard nothing back. Then waited to order desserts but no one ever came. In fact waitress only arrived when we started to put on jackets. Sadly ruined the evening and would not therefore recommend.

Just left there. £85 for 2 starters and 2 mains. The food was minging. A packet Yorkshire Pudding, under cooked and cold parsnip and carrot. Overcooked beef and all stone cold. They need to apply some basic cooking principles, heating the plates would be a good start. I won’t be back.

One Vegetarian, two vegans and one GF - we managed to get something for all of us!! Great food, great location. Unfortunately, it was dark so no lake view, but inside was quite nice. Service let down when we ordered two of the same dessert, and only one turned up, but still, it tasted very nice!

Had the roast maybe I ordered wrong belly of pork was extremely fatty and absolutely swimming in gravy hard broccoli small dessert portion I didn’t have but my friend did, nice views, if you are going to charge fairly expensive prices makes sure that effort goes into the food Yorkshire not homemade I was abit disappointed.

Went here during a visit to the Devere Hotel next door. Food was plentiful and delicious. My husband had the beef brisket bon bons to start with a horseradish sauce, they were delicious. The crab starter was larger than I expected and was outstanding. The main meals did not disappoint either and as for dessert, glorious. A beautiful setting with very attentive staff.

Although the food was tasty, the portion size was disappointing & the prices were far too high! We ordered for our kids using the children’s menu and wish we’d ordered from that for us too! Much cheaper and more generous portions! The service was incredibly slow. The wait between courses was far too long and we had to ask three times for deserts to be brought out before the children fell asleep. The staff were lovely, but the food over priced & kitchen slow.

Just popped in for a quick pint on our way to our hotel further down the road. We have been there in the past whilst staying at the adjoining hotel. A little pricey for the drinks in my opinion but there's nothing cheap these days.

Lovely setting, the food was ok, however our local fish and chip shop far exceeds the fish and chips served. They also don't accept cash which was very disappointing since that's the choice of payment we use, hence we won't be back.

Lovely venue overlooking the lakes. Interesting dining room. Lunchtime menu was rather disappointing, limited to sandwiches/baguettes etc. The online menu suggested a full range of meals.

Forgot the being an entire course. Forgot part of the main. Bought the wrong pudding. Glasses uncollected everywhere. Apparently we caught them on a bad night. Shockingly bad.

Dreadful experience from start to finish. We came for the setting, a stunning view over on the lakes. When we arrived, we waited for ages for someone to greet us and when they did and we asked to sit on the terrace, they said there was no availablity. I had a look and there were several tables available, many uncleaned. Once seated, we cleaned our own table and went to the bar to order. Walking through the restaurant there were less than 30 customers, less than a third full. We were told by the bar staff that there was a forty minute wait for food. Food which was primarily, sandwiches and chips! We ordered, but because the rolls are premade, ordered five sandwiches and one cream tea. Tea arrived Forty minutes before the cream tea and the sandwiches. The scones were mouldy, the chips ice cold, the sandwiches unseasoned and virtually inedible. All in all a experience the organisation should be ashamed of. When we told the manager about the mould, she argued that the blue growth was not mould but raisins, and showed us a photo of the package the scone was bought in. Absolutely outrageous. Eventually our food bill was reembersed. Go next door for the pizzas, they are delicious, the staff are friendly and there is absolutely no mould.

Mediocre food at an extortionate price. Sirloin streak was £32. Asked for medium, it came out well done. Accompanied with a mushroom and a tomato. Chips were bought in. Bread arrived just before the main course so they took that off the bill. The waiting staff were friendly and helpful. An ok meal but the price point should be half what it is.

Unbelievable bad service from molly wouldn’t recommend this place at all!

Went here for food last night 09/06/2023 best to book and we booked through hotel as on same site. Lovely clean inside. Situated on the lake which is nice view. Plenty of seating inside and outside. The staff friendly and welcoming Tristan was really good throughout the whole service and professional. We had starters both had duck pate and agreed could of shared but was nice but quite good portion. We had mains which were nice and hot but again quite good portions said we could share next time. Did find drinks bit pricy.. Would go again as was nice... This is situated in South Cerney just outside Cirencester between Swindon..

5 star review for the guy working who was serving us called Sam he was the best waiter we’ve ever had! He was awesome! The food however was absolutely shocking! They gave us a gluten meal even though we asked for gluten free multiple times and the amount of food and food quality for that price roast isn’t good at all, wine also very pricey. Avoid going for any food but just pop in for a drink in a nice setting and have a chat with Sam!

The worst £18.70 I have ever spent, .... so a very expensive birthday mistake... £9.00 for a glass of wine, £ 4 for very very dry chips... and £4 for a basket of onion rings .... Also a service charge of 1.70 ... I ordered a salmon main and was given a very bland salmon starter instead... I was offered an exchange for the starter, but by this time I had eaten the onions and half the chips... I WILL NEVER EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN .... AND WILL NOT BE RECOMMENDING IT TO ANYONE.

Always wonder why places like this don’t serve home cooked chips. Steak was ok.

I genuinely don't know how this gets more than one star reviews. My wife and I both ate here tonight, food was utterly terrible. Clearly some folk are happy with over priced rubbish, however both our meals were vastly over priced for the quality of food served. My wife ordered confit duck, which was dry and tasteless. I ordered rib eye steak which was a mediocre to poor cut and while cooked as requested, was served with frozen chips as clearly it's too difficult to cut some potatoes and cook them like a chef. The lady waiting-on had her work cut out. Despite there being some sort of event and the hotel being busy, The Boathouse was at least 50% empty. I'd have expected more waiting-on staff. Anyway we had to wait about 45 minutes for each course which on a quiet Thursday night was really quite unacceptable, to then receive poor quality food to top it off. All in all, I wouldn't say The Boathouse is worth a visit. It not somewhere I'd recommend and will be steering clear in the future, I suggest you do the same.

This restaurant has some great staff who were very attentive. Very well designed with comfy furniture. The food is good but let down by the price for what you get, it was very quiet on the night due to a large conference who were eating in a different area, it may have felt different with a few more tables in use. Lighting was blinding initially although the team did turn this down slightly when asked. I would go back but felt that for what is a hotel within a family attraction, the pricing needs to be revisited and I am not a penny pincher. Kind regards Steven Holland

Very friendly waiting staff, food was prompt and to a very nice standard. Drinks came out quickly as well and staff making sure we were ok and asking if we needed anything else. Have eaten here a couple of times now and will do again in the future. Great service, food and experience. Top marks

We had Sunday lunch here. The service was good and staff friendly. But! The roast plates looked quite pretty, but portions were very small. I've never before seen such a mini pig-in-blanket!
