Went to the Old Bakehouse for the first time today and was very disappointed. Although there were only a few customers the waitress spent most of her time going to the kitchen and was slow bringing orders. I asked for lightly cooked bacon, but was severed overcooked and dry bacon that looked like it had been left a while on the hotplate. I won't be going for a repeat visit!

Me and my mum was in the area, and we popped in for some lunch. I had the ham, cheese, and rocket sandwich, which came with coleslaw and salad. Which was lovely. Mum had an omelette with salad, which again she enjoyed. Lovely little tea room. Definitely would recommend it and will be going again when I'm in the area. Thank you to Eve... lovely surprise too see you there

We visited here a couple of years ago for a quick cake and coffee which was really nice, so while passing through early one morning we thought we’d grab a breakfast. I have to say it was the best breakfast I’ve had in a very long time, great sized portion and very well priced. Clearly everything was cooked fresh that morning and as before the staff were really friendly and made us feel very comfortable😊

Just popped in for a quick mid-morning coffee and hot chocolate but it took three attempts to get an acceptable flat white coffee for my wife. My hot chocolate was fine but the coffee was disappointingly weak. The third coffee was good (3 shots) so maybe stronger coffee bean are the answer

When we heard the previous owner was leaving we were a little worried but Eve has done incredibly well taking on this business and giving it her own character. She is is really friendly as are all the staff and the food is always excellent quality. I have taken my family there many times, mainly for breakfast, and each time we've thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend it and if you live in the village support this small business and keep it thriving.

Had a fabulous afternoon tea a couple of years ago with homemade scones to die for. So called in today for more fabulous scones,, none on show, told available so ordered 2 cheese & one cherry. Given in brown paper bags told wouldn’t be charged full price as taking away as not wanting butter or chutney and they had no clotted cream anyway. Charged £7.50 for 3 scones got them home obviously shop bought flipping gutted and disappointed. £2.50 per scone cheaper and better from M&S. Should of checked bags before I paid but assumed would be homemade, disappointed.

This is my second time visiting the old bakehouse. I bought a friend for afternoon tea for her birthday. It was incredible. I had a lemon scone which was served with a lemon curd and was delicious, perfect with a good cup of tea. We chose tuna mayo& egg mayo sarnies which were perfect, not so much filling it was dripping out hut enough to be satisfied. The cornflake tart. Oh my. I love love loved it!! Arrived here on a very hot day with a friend. Lovely cool welcome with fans whirring and able to sit inside with the French doors wide open and enjoy a catch up. Food was great (although I would prefer butter to margarine in my cob). I had a delicious omelette which was cooked perfectly and without excess saltiness. The cakes are varied, generous and delicious. I love an excuse to visit this lovely family enterprise! One thing to note is that they close early so check timings.

The cafe decor is cute and appealing, the staff very friendly. We had an afternoon tea which wasn’t like the usual ones. You only got one sort of sandwich, a scone and one piece of cake. Although the sweet things were homemade and lovely you didn’t feel it was a treat like you do with others when you get an assortment and the pleasure of wondering which to eat first. The coffee was a bit rough. £12 each so quite pricey for such a basic one and not much cheaper than if bought separately.

I have just read one of your latest reviews giving your lovely tearoom a terrible rating. I find it hard to understand how the reviewer could give it this rating when they hadn't actually visited the tearoom at all. I too had purchased a voucher through groupon. I had booked a date to use the voucher but unfortunately it clashed with a hospital appointment that my husband had. When I phoned to try and change the day the lady could not have been more helpful and understanding. Although they were very busy and had lots of bookings she managed to fit us in at a convenient time. I'm so glad she did....we had the nicest afternoon tea we've had anywhere. The service was absolutely spot on... and the food was delicious. We couldn't manage to eat everything but again the lady was more than happy to box up the remaining food for us to take home . The homemade scones were the best I've ever tasted.... as was the cake! We will definitely be back! Thank you

What a lovely welcome as we arrived a little early at the Old Bakehouse Tearoom in Ruddington for a birthday present of High Tea.Shown to seats by the window we were invited to choose from a list of sandwich fillings in a choice of breads, and from a counter full of scones and cakes with hot drinks which were promptly served in bone china cups. This was really good value for money, was well presented and served with a smile. Good things are worth waiting for as there had been a delay before an available date could be arranged. Thank you for an enjoyable experience.

I had bought 2 vouchers through Groupon as gifts for friends birthdays and they were unable to use them. One gave various dates but non available, the other also found availability unavailable and both have told me the lady was very rude to them on the phone. I am currently trying to sort through Groupon, but advise others be careful with these vouchers as they dont seem to want to accept customers with them. Such a shame as both friends were not able to use gifts I had given them. Very disappointed, as I thought this would have been a lovely experience. I have only just found out both had the same issue, when asking if they enjoyed their afternoon tea as they were too embarrassed to tell me my gift was wasted.

Dropped in for coffee and cake. We were spoilt for choice as they had a massive selection, that all looked very moreish. I had the coffee and walnut and the wife had ginger and fudge cake. The cakes were the best I have had for ages both had good flavours. I have sometimes found that tea rooms advertise a cake as a particular flavour but it doesn't live up to expectations. Both our cakes tasted as they were suppose to. We will definitely be back for more.

The sandwiches were made fresh and rather than having a selection of different flavours you get to chose which filling you like which I preferred (the ham was excellent by the way!) the same with the cakes - you get to chose which one you would like so we got 4 different ones to share all of which were good. The cherry scones were awesome as well! It was so good we really considered buying more cakes to take home with us, but after the indulgence of afternoon tea thought it was too much! One of the best afternoon teas I've ever had. It's a small, local place with a lovely atmosphere, relaxed, old-fashioned, and friendly. We went once, and when we returned, we were recognised and remembered - twice we had the afternoon tea, and the second time they tried to vary the sandwiches for us - even though we're vegetarian. Service is attentive, without being intrusive. And the food is just fantastic. The tea starts with a shot of soup, (home-made like everything else). This is followed with little dishes of salad and potato crisps and then the cake stand arrives laden with sandwiches, scones (each time there's been a choice of three) and cakes. It's all good, but the cakes are to die for - very high quality and really delicious. It's also very reasonably priced. (£12.95 p.p. for winter afternoon tea) I just wish I lived in the area, so I could as often as I liked. Loved this place.

Lesley's tearoom is a lovely place to come to have your lunch, or a cup of tea and a slice of one of the lovely home made cakes. She is very friendly, and is more than happy that my children visit as well. My girls especially like to visit as a special treat after school. I would really recommend her milky coffee and she makes sandwiches with "proper" bread (i.e. not pre-cut). You can't go wrong with the cakes and tarts either: yesterday I had a mince pie which was melt-in-the-mouth. Lesley also offers lunches, and for Christmas she is offering to make Christmas dinner on a plate ready to be warmed-up on the day, which is a fantastic idea for people that do not want the hassle of making their own Christmas lunch but still want to have a proper home cooked meal.

Our football supporters coach stopped off in Ruddington recently for refreshments on the way to our away game in Nottingham and I happened upon this gem of a tearoom. An A-board outside was advertising a "beef stew special" for lunch so in I went to try it. I was served a wonderfully warming, piping-hot beef stew with a buttered cob, a pot of tea serving 3 good cups (I like my tea!) and I just had to have the lemon meringue pie with pouring cream in a separate jug to finish. What a great meal and what lovely staff! The tearoom boasts cheerfully mismatched china and crockery, all bright and clean, and tempting cakes and pastries. On a Saturday lunchtime it was much quieter than it deserved to be - come on Ruddington, support your local tearoom, you don't appreciate what a little gem you have! The tearoom has disabled toilet facilities.
