I was blown away by the food, really good value for money, super tasty and very accommodating. My Mum is dairy intolerant and they changed the prawn dish which was originally in a butter sauce to prawns in tempura batter!!. I have eaten many times in Lowestoft but for us this has been the best !!

Walked pakefield beach today and intended to stop on the way home for lunch. Talking to a local dog walker he mentioned odd fellows and said very dog friendly. People at work had recently also mentioned as good. Went there for lunch, fantastic welcome by two ladies behind bar.several well behaved dogs and owners scattered around bar, no trouble. Huge sandwiches, crisps and side salad, great value. Also made very welcome by a couple of locals. Pub was clean , fresh, nicely laid out and friendly. We will definitely be back. Ps as a dog owner, I have my own water and bowl and do not expect dogs to be on seats In a food pub. I'm totally support the pubs stance on this as a dog owner, so would expect non dog owners to definitely appreciate this . Staff/ owners are trying to balance expectations of both and I think this is totally understandable.

We arrived in the pouring rain to meet some friends here with our very small dog, not seeing the sign outside due to the weather. Our intention was to eat in the bar being fully aware that dogs would not be welcome in the restaurant. We took off our wet coats & ordered our drinks from the friendly barmaid, I asked for a bowl of water for my dog as we had been walking for over an hour to get to this dog friendly pub!I was told there was water outside for dogs, they were not allowed water inside as it was a hazard!Bearing in mind it was pouring with rain , I took my dog outside for a drink. My little lap dog doesn’t like being left out so I as the sign above seat said no dogs on seats , I thought well I’ll put my jumper on it for him to sit on, I mean it’s not like he’s a Great Dane or German shepherd is it?Our friends arrived & after greetings we started looking at the bar menu. The lovely landlady Edwina came over & explained the menu to us & politely asked me to remove my dog from the seat as the sign clearly states, no dogs on seats, I explained that he would not be happy but rules are rules! We decided to leave , went to the tramways where there was no problem with dogs on seats, took a takeaway home instead. So because of this ruling about dogs on seats, they lost out on about £50 on food.In hindsight I feel the landlady could have said , oh don’t worry he’s only tiny no one will see him there, but if anyone complains could you put him on the floor please. Wouldn’t that have been so simple ??Oh by the way he enjoyed his glass of water I got from the bar for him

The only problem you will have with this place is gettinga table. Really nice pub with friendly helpful staff serving really nice food. As the title suggests we went there a couple of weeks ago for Sunday lunch and it was spot on. Not expensive, good service and a nice atmosphere. Well worth booking though just in case. The place get busy in the summer. We will be back !

Great fish and chips and Adnams cider. This draft cider is even nicer than the previous Aspall cider they had on draught. The fish & chips on the bar menu was good and reasonably priced. Clean toilets. Right on the seafront. Nice cosy atmosphere. A favourite when viditing Lowestoft.

Had fish and chips which was cheap at about £7 but didn’t realise it was a small portion as I’d happily have paid more for full size. Ideal local, close to beach, nice decor, nice staff. I’d give it a good overall..

Enjoyed a lovely fish & chip meal.... However the Cod was not available so we were offered Haddock or Plaice as an alternative. We decided on the plaice which we enjoyed... when asked by the fair haired waitress if everything was Ok we did point out the large amount of flies at our table & on food! ( not nice when trying to eat) waitress was clearly not bothered and said nothing could be done!!!On receiving the Bill we noticed we were charged more than advertised for the 2 plaice meals... we merely stated to the waitress this should have been brought to our attention when she offered the alternative fish.Waitress then became stroppy ... rudely said she’d change the bill.. then turned her back on us chatting and left another member of staff to take the payment. She clearly needs to go back to charm school and needs to learn a few customer service skills... sadly not a pleasant experience on this visit!!

Off work this week and looking for somewhere for lunch. Someone had recommended this place and it was not somewhere I had ever thought about for eating as I thought it was just a local pub.The staff were incredibly friendly and the menu was varied. When the food arrived it was excellent, well cooked and well presented. I wish I had known about this sooner, we will definitely be back.

We were told that this pub was really dog friendly and that the food was excellent. We visited for dinner, dogs are allowed in the bar not the restaurant which is fair enough. There are however only 4 menu choices, none of which are vegetarian.Really disappointing and we ate elsewhere!

The Oddfellows is tucked away down a maze of streets of terraced and semi houses but eventually fronts onto the beach. First impressions as you approach are “should we turn back”. However, the inside is a revelation- very smartly furnished but loads of photos of yesteryear Pakefield and a homely feel. Menu appeared typical pub grub but was very exceptionally wee cooked. Good selection of real ales (and not just Adnams). The only criticism was the tray of sachets of vinegar, mustard, ketchup, etc which shouts “caff” and spoils the effect.

We have had several visits here in the last year and I now feel I can review them confidently. The welcome has always been very good and the decor is comfortable. I have tried various fish and chicken meals and they have all been superb. My wife says the deserts are to die for (I don't have a sweet tooth). The real ales were nicely kept with a decent diversity, unlike some places which seem to sell similar beers with different names. We will be going again soon.

Have eaten here twice in the last wk: 1st time was from the lunchtime menu in the bar area (as we had the dog with us) baguette & chips, baguette was warm with a nice selection of fillings, very reasonably priced & tasty. 2nd time was in the restaurant with friends, 2 of us had whitebait (about 20 on each plate), our hubbies shared the ribs which looked very tasty. Mains was gammon, fish cakes, sirloin steak & medium fish & chips. The gammon was lovely & tasty, my friend said her sirloin was cooked to perfection, the fish cakes got a thumbs up & the friend who had fish & chips said it was the best fish he had ever tasted, & he was pleased he hadn’t had the ‘large’ portion as he wouldn’t have managed to eat it all, all came with hand cut chips. Generous portions at a reasonable price, a nice friendly pub, will definitely go back when in the area again.

My husband and I have been coming to Pakefield for years to enjoy the peaceful seaside at our parents caravan. We absolutely adore this pub and it’s our ‘go to place’ for fabulous ales and amazing food. We have never had a less than perfect meal and the staff are always friendly. Yes it is small, and can get busy, but we accept that for the quality Oddfellows delivers time and time again. Looking forward to our visit this weekend.

We often come here when staying at a nearby holiday park. Food over the last few years has definitely improved. We came here on Weds 30 May, they kindly did a kids portion of haddock & chips for our son though it wasn’t on the menu. My husband and I both chose from the specials, I had a baked fillet of cod with crispy new potatoes, peas & bacon with balsamic glaze which I thoroughly enjoyed and hubby had an Asian style steak with noodles and veg stir fry which was ok but swimming in sauce. Service was fast & friendly.

We went there today for lunch. 8 adults and 4 children, ages 11, 4, 2 and 10 months. It was not a good experience. Despite them knowing we had booked, they had prepared 2 tables. The reason for this was fire safety as would block the door...I accept that, however our orders could have been taken together rather than doing 2 table at a time. They brought the food out separately, and the children were left till last. As a vegetarian, it was disappointing that there was literally only one option available to me...if I didn’t like mushrooms I’d have been stuck! The wait staff seemed to find anything asked of them a chore, and did not do it with a smile. The attitude was appalling. They snapped at the 11 year old for closing the blinds....asking politely for them to have been left alone would have sufficed. What was the most upsetting and was absolutely disgusting was the staff were overheard in the kitchen referring to the children as brats when in fact they were well behaved. This is completely unprofessional, and gives the impression of not being child friendly. Appalling place. I do not recommend and will not be returning. Thank you for ruining what was our last meal together before some of the family return home to Africa!

This really is a pub that does food. There isn’t much atmosphere in the dining area and it is thoroughly spoilt by how noisy the bar is. The food is actually pretty good but it is just pub grub, but it was very enjoyable. I had steak and it was cooked well (I ordered it blue). This was almost a 3 star review but we had to wait such a ridiculously long time that it became unbearable and completely over shadowed anything else. The staff did take off a round of drinks to apologise but this didn’t make much difference to the two and a half hours we’d been there for a pub meal. So, wouldn’t recommend if you’re in a hurry but it’s pretty good value for money.
