The Oak Room Restaurant at Moor Hall Hotel & Spa in Birmingham

Stayed at Moor Hall for three nights from Friday 1st November and had two evening meals in the Oak Room. The food was to the highest quality, hot and presented to a high standard. The young staff over the two nights include Amy, Ben, Jake (dingle), Eloise, Sophie, Marma and Chole were not only cheerful and receptive were polite and always at hand to tend to our requests and needs. My friend and I had a lovely overnight stay at Moor Hall with breakfast and evening meal in the Oak Room Restaurant, I must say that there was excellent choice on the menu, the meal was very well presented and went down at treat. The staff were attentive and served us well. All together we had a lovely stay and would recommend a stay and meal in the Oak Room Restaurant.

We visited The Oak Room Restaurant on Bank Holiday Monday and expected it to be quite busy which it was. However, we were seated immediately and were explained the menu options straight away. Despite the young age of the wait staff we found them all to be very knowledgeable, polite and very attentive. Not too often, but they regularly checked on our progress and asked us if there was anything else we needed. We used vouchers my Wife had for her Birthday and was completely surprised when after the meal they presented my Wife with a Birthday platter of Chocolates and Strawberries. I hadn't realised the vouchers had Happy Birthday printed on them! Well done to the maitre d for picking that up. Overall our visit was first class and a wonderful trip down memory lane as we had our wedding reception at the Hotel 44 years ago! Thank you all for a lovely evening.

I had a lovely, relaxing, delicious afternoon tea with my two friends as a treat for their kindness towards my partner who has cancer.

My partner and I have dined here often but at our most recent visit it was so refreshing to be served by a waitress who took her job seriously. In many restaurants the service is poor with nobody really bothered if you are enjoying your meal or not. We were served by Eliane who was an absolute delight. Not only was she serving us but we could see she was aware of all going on around and asking other staff to clear tables etc. She was so friendly and personable. It all made our evening out so much more enjoyable.

Took my parents for Fathers Day lunch. Very warm welcome. Food was absolutely excellent. Beautifully presented and all delicious. The service was perfect. Really lovely people who made us feel extremely welcome. Highly recommend. Look forward to returning.

A party of four adults - comfortable spacious dining area in the Oak Room with views out to the terrace and Golf course. The food was excellent, starter, main and dessert. All were enjoyed and a pleasant evening, with friendly attentive staff. My only criticism would be that the tables are bare polished wood - which is very nice, but no cotton table cloths - which seemed a bit odd considering its a highly regarded Hotel Spa and Restaurant! The prices were about average for hotel of this grade, though perhaps a little more than we would normally pay.

Had a lovely afternoon tea for four people to celebrate a 30th birthday. Food was lovely, server Debbie amazing and setting perfect. The young lady whose birthday it was originates from Afghanistan and although she is now a British citizen, said it was an experience she had alway dreamed of. Would highly reccomend.

We had dinner here of an evening and breakfast in the morning, both were fab. I loved my lamb dish and would definitely reorder it, the kids portions were of a decent size too, which is always hit and miss, and the puddings were also really tasty. Service was brilliant and like dinner the breakfast was spot on.

We originally booked The Country Kitchen but on arrival we weee told it was closed and that they had rebooked us into The Oak Room. We weren’t sure how we felt about that, but as it was convenient we went along with the change. We were welcomed by a team of young faces, who we were told were training. They were all attentive, professional and timely and did a splendid job. Husband had soup, fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding- which he enjoyed. I had Goat cheese with beetroot hummus, Superfood salad and sticky toffee pudding- all very tasty. My only gripe was a glass of the house red was £9.50!! A lovely meal with delightful staff

Lovely afternoon tea with friends at Moor Hall. Good range of sandwiches, cakes and scones, all nice and fresh. Great service from Zoe, Libby, Craig and Paul, kept the tea and prosecco coming. Have been here a few times for afternoon tea and we will definately be back!

Having attended on many occasions to Moor Hall and had impeccable service and quality food, I can honestly say this was definitely inferior. I had chosen once again Moor Hall for our annual Christmas get together with close friends. We arrived and headed to the bar for a drink before dining. Only one member of staff was visible behind the bar with many customers waiting! We did eventually get served and as there was no seating available (not that this mattered too much as it was Christmas season) we ventured to the dining room. I was expecting the oak room to be busy but actually it wasn’t. Unfortunately, the service and the food was not up to the usual Moor Hall standard. The festive menu lacked quality and quantity. One slice of carrot and one slice of parsnip for the vegetable selection is not sufficient the plate was so beige. I did ask the waitress if we were expecting a vegetable dish a long side our dinner she went back into the kitchen came back and said “these are the seasonal vegetables” Overall we were very disappointed with our experience and really do hope this can be rectified.

We went for a birthday meal as part of our spa stay and had a fantastic time! The food was amazing and the staff couldn’t have done more for us - the lady who served us was very friendly and they brought out chocolates for my girlfriend for her birthday which was a lovely touch and made it a very special experience

Absolutely amazing evening at Moor Hall and The Oak Room on 27 October 2023, everything was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were phenomenal. We were served by Marjan, Ella, Millie and Rachel and we could not fault them, they were always happy to help and served us very very well. We are already trying to figure out when we can go again! We also had breakfast the following morning on the Saturday - once again the staff were superb, very attentive and the food was just delicious. The Oak Room itself is a beautiful setting with large windows, although it was dark outside when we visited in the evening there were lights along the terrace, but obviously in the morning it was light and you could see right across the grounds. The room has high ceilings, it is very ornate but very comfortable. We could not stop talking about our visit and can't wait to visit again!

I booked this for our 29th Anniversary of when we met 😍. A dinner, bed & breakfast package. The restaurant staff were so attentive and efficient. The food was delicious. The beautiful grounds were a delight to walk around the next morning, it was a shame that everything is ‘extra’ ie you cannot check in until 3pm, check out at 11am. I do get that, but by the time you have a couple of drinks in the bar you don’t get much chance to use the leisure facilities without paying extra to fit this time in. So unfortunately on this occasion we didn’t get chance to use the pool facilities. I would however definitely recommend the hotel for its lovely staff, excellent food and grounds. The younger members of staff were a credit to your lovely team with a very polite manner and very helpful too, to be left a little surprise for my hubby and card for our anniversary was such a sweet touch too 😍, thank you for making it memorable

Greeted by a member of staff telling us The Oak room is down there. We then waited for the restaurant manager who was fuffing around with something who told us just bear with me ive got to go to the kitchen. A waitress then barged past us. We said we would like a drink first and that was fine. The food was far below average. The caesar salad was vinegary, the duck egg was solid. The lamb was very fatty and the chicken dry and completely tasteless. Even the cheese board was unadventurous. Service poor. We have been coming to this restaurant for years and was excited to be coming to your brasserie. What a complete waste of money. We shall dine elsewhere in the future.

A most scrumptious afternoon tea in a gorgeous function room with beautiful decor and very eye-catching art. Paul and Evie went above and beyond to make us feel welcome at this bottomless tea brunch. The loose leaf teas had an explosion of flavours, each one so different and exciting. Three teapots later and 3 tiers of yummy treats had disappeared. An amazing experience overall, would definitely come from London again just for the tea and service!

My cousin and I had a lovely afternoon cream tea. There were various finger sandwiches, plain and fruit scones with jam and cream and a variety of cakes. The afternoon was made all the more enjoyable by the attentiveness of Paul and Debbie. I had a little chat with Paul and discovered like me Paul had recently lost his partner so he could relate to my feelings, very special. Both Paul and Debbie were professional and smiley. On Thursday 3rd August I enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea with a friend. On offer for the tea were sandwiches ham, egg, cucumber and smoked salmon, all of which were extremely tasty; fruit and plain scones along with clotted cream and small jars of strawberry jam; and a selection of pastries. We were well looked after by Marjan, who was very attentive and topped up our tea pot when we requested more. This was a lovely treat in a well appointed hotel.

Had a yummy and relaxed afternoon tea here. Marjan, who hosts afternoon tea was attentive whilst creating a friendly sociable atmosphere . So lovely for a catch up - felt right at home. Highly recommend.

We chose to stay at the Moor Hall Hotel and Spa for our 10th wedding anniversary and dined at the Oak Restaurant on three nights. We absolutely enjoyed our experience at the restaurant and overall we had a wonderful mini break at the hotel. The service was excellent and we would love to extend our gratitude to Troy, Mia, Rachel and Jacob for their attention, professionalism and for making our anniversary just a bit more special. The food was delicious, we sampled different dishes each night. The wine list selection was good and it complimented our meals really well. All in all, we fully enjoyed it and felt so happy that we chosen this particular location for our celebrations. Just to add, the setting was beautiful too and we noticed that it was a very popular place for all kinds of occasions. So we are also happy to recommend the hotel and the restaurant.

We had a dinner in a dome down the bottom of the garden. All staff were lovely and the food was delicious. Lady that looked after us, Marjam, was superb and made our evening a very enjoyable experience.

Moor Hall carvery has gone downhill. Such a shame. The service was abysmal, from the start where nobody was there to seat us - and whilst ordering drinks, there were no pleasantries. Everything seemed too much trouble. I had to ask the waiter if he could explain to my guests (four) about the starter options. After the starter we were all queuing up for the carvery and no sign of Chef. Tick tick tick……After a good 10 mins, I asked a member of staff if they had seen him. No surprise they hadn’t but went to look for him and sure enough he appeared shortly after with a dish of carrots and put them in the Bain Marie. The main meal was okay, nothing to write home about, I didn’t have the pork but my guest explained the two slices she was given was mostly fat. Desserts were sitting in a cold holding area that we helped ourselves to so weren’t depending on the staff. The ambience was dreadful. One member of staff was sweeping the floor whilst we ate away. I had to wait 10 mins to see someone to ask for the bill. To summarise, I’ll NEVER go back

We visited to throw a suprise Afternoon tea birthday party. We hired the lovely Bracebridge Room for the occasion and were pleased to be able to have the room in the morning to decorate as we wished. Staff were on hand from the minute we arrived to help us carry our things upstairs, offered to bring us regreshements and check on all of our requirements and timings for the day. Lady G, Belle and the rest of the team were all fantastic - so accomodating, polite and just wonderful for the whole day. The afternoon tea itself was delicious and such good value for money. We could not have asked for a better day and after such a difficult 18 months it was so nice to have something to really enjoy and the team made sure we did just that! Thank you all!

Long awaited afternoon tea yesterday that was a Christmas gift for my Mum. Lovely food and service from our waiter Lady George. So lovely to see some normality and beautiful surroundings. Mum struggled with the table offered due to low seating and it was no problem to bring in a table and chairs that suited.

The food was very good and tasty. The only thing was the service was very slow. There was no one around if we needed anything else, we just had to wait for someone to come to us and that could of been a while.

We came to the oak room on 14.04.21 for afternoon tea for my sister in laws 40th birthday. The oak room terrace is beautiful, the views are lovely and the afternoon tea was delicious. Our hostess Lady George was amazing, she was so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. She made our visit even more enjoyable. Will definitely be returning in the future.

We had a wonderful afternoon tea on Saturday. The setup for COVID was done well and it was lovely looking out over the lawn. Food was lovely (preferences taken into consideration) and lots of it. Our experience was made complete by the five-star personal service from Lady George. Such a lovely lady and nothing was too much trouble. Superb afternoon tea, served by a very helpful 'Lady George'. Seating was socially distanced and we felt extremely safe. The tea was just wonderful, very tasty sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, the most amazing choice of cakes, and far too much to eat so took the rest home!I would thoroughly recommend this as a real treat

Lovely setting in the Oak room. The food was presented really well with polite and courteous staff. We had the Scallops and Lamb belly, both very tasty, followed by the beef short ribs which were so tender they just pulled apart. Only criticism was the cheese board was cold straight from the fridge and only 1 choice of port. I went with my mum, but also ideal for couples, friends etc.. A chance to get dressed up if you like as the restaurant is inside Moor hall. Prices are reasonable Approx £18 for main meal and the Covid limited menu had enough choice on it. we will defiantly be back. 3 courses each with wine was £103.

A rural setting yet only 8 miles from City Centre of Birmingham. Easy to find and plenty of car parking spaces. Set in some lovely country grounds. A warm welcome from friendly and knowledgeable staff and at all time everyone CV 19 aware. Good choice of food on the paper disposable menue and not difficulties finding a 3 course meal of our choice. Served quickly and steak cooked exactly as I requested. Menu changes frequently but steak always an option. Be back again soon.

Despite the restrictions that were in place at this current time all the staff were happy, friendly and efficient. The food was wonderful too.

Firstly we arrived for our Afternoon Tea to be advised we were late..I rang 48 hours earlier & spoke to Julie to change the time of our booking & she advised we would not have any issues - she didn't amend the booking on their system.Secondly, drinks orders shambles.. drinks coming to the table in drips.. waiting time 15/20 minutes... miss matched Whiskey tumblers, run out of Whiskey.. Bar staff very inexperienced.. everything just seemed too much trouble for them!Thirdly, the Afternoon Tea was really disappointing.. the quality and quantity of sandwiches was to be honest quite shocking.. We do Afternoon Tea a lot and this really was the worst we've encountered..However, George was lovely.. but the experience isn't just about one person.

Great first impressions - polite,professional and welcoming staff. Dining Room had a lovely atmosphere with suitable lighting and well spaced tables. Food was amazing in presentation and quality. We popped in for a spot of afternoon tea on a Saturday recently after meeting with a wedding organiser. The staff were very friendly and polite and relaxed despite the current situation. I felt very welcome and safe. George was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed including a lovely glass of Prosecco to make the occasion a bit more special. First time me and my partner had escaped the kids and had some us time in a very long time. Very pleased we choose this beautiful setting. My wife had a sandwich which was sort of acceptable, but I had a Risotto which almost defied belief in both presentation but especially flavour.I am sad to say that no effort whatsoever had been put into providing a worthwhile culinary experience - particularly with regard to flavour, seasoning, texture nor presentation.The Eaton Mess dessert proved also to be a bit of a non-event with rather a puny presentation & of limited quality.My meal in particular simply did not warrant the fine setting and environment of the long established Moor Hall Hotel. Front of house waiting was charming, but clearly the kitchen was under pressure and service was painfully slow.I am also sad to say that the total eating experience simply did not bear favourable comparison with 2 other really excellent recent meals that we have enjoyed at some of the local surrounding country pubs & restaurants in the last 10 days or so.A bit of a baffling experience - especially as we have supported this venue for over 40 years. Although I do not feel good about listing these comments, in what must be very difficult times, I feel that perhaps something should be said in the hope that old standards may be perhaps revisited.
