The Normandie Bar in Pembrokeshire

We had lunch here. When we ordered we had to pay in advance. No problem, quite common, but we were asked to pay a tip in advance of receiving the food, which is bizarre. It was fortuitous that we didn’t pay a tip in advance. My wife ordered mackerel which was very good and I ordered the peppered ribeye steak. The steak was so tough it was impossible to cut let alone eat. I complained and the plate was taken away for a replacement. I wasn’t asked if I wanted a replacement or at an alternative dish. When the replacement arrived it was only a little better. I complained again and asked where they got their meat from. I didn’t receive an answer. I wasn’t offered a refund and despite telling the servers we would give a negative review we were allowed to leave. At no point was a manager brought in to apologise or manage the situation Cannot recommend this place…

Food overpriced and bland. We arrived to many tables still covered with empty glasses and plates of food not removed. I had steak with all of the trimmings which cost almost £40, my daughter had the pasta special which again for a pasta dish at £18 was not cheap. I ordered my steak medium and it came definitely well done. It was supposed to be rib eye and I would say it was definitely rump. Chips were oven chips and on the whole the meal was very underwhelming. My daughter’s pasta was dry and bland and the garlic bread was hard. The only positive was the young lady who served us at the bar. She was lovely.

We had a very friendly welcome here. The restaurant was spotless and tidy. It has a fantastic menu, which made it difficult to choose! The food was delicious, presented well and the staff were all very friendly. The place has a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended and we will be back!

Our family visited 3 times while on holiday and each time we had an excellent meal. The seats were comfortable, staff were friendly, we were served quickly and the food was plentiful and delicious, as well as being reasonably priced.

My Wife and I stayed here from 3 - 7 June 2024. Our room, 5 was excellent despite the long climb to access, (I'm 73 with back and knee problems), and I compliment you on that! On Tuesday evening we decided to have a meal. My Wife's curry was fine, but my haddock with Mediterranean veg was awful, the veg was just lettuce, tomato and mushrooms. The fish was full of dangerous bones and was, quite frankly inedible; also the Angelo Poretti wasn't Poretti at all, it tasted like a flat Carlsberg! I drink Poretti regulat so I think.i know what it tastes like! I complained to the robust female waitress and she took it away and came back stating the 'Chef' had authorised a free pint, so I had an Estrella - that was worse, so I went to the bar to complain and the youn man deducted the money for the meal but made me pay for the (Angelo Poretti). We decided due to all over above we would not eat ot drink here again. On Wednesday evening we returned to our Room and the t.v. had been disconnected. On the following morning I spoke to the excellent caretaker and he put matters right! On packing on that same evening I noticed one of my shoes was missing; we searched the room high and low to no avail. On returning Home I called the hotel and my call was later returned by the Manager PETER; from the outset he was most obnoxious, praising himself, his Staff and became very irate over the Poretti issue which to me seemed like a statement of guilt! He didn't want to know about the shoe issue, stating he had been in the Trade 20 years! He concluded by stating 'DO WHAT YOU WANT'! So I have with this review; also I have a sample of the 'Poretti' which I will taking to Trading Standard's in due course and I will be deciding on action re - the shoe! Believe Mr Manager you have not heard the last of this matter by a long way and I suggest you invest in a Management/Customer Service course at your earliest convenience!

Central location, no on site parking, but inexpensive multi-storey car park close by. The pretty hanging baskets, belie, a soulless interior that resembles a cafe rather than a traditional welsh pub/ restaurant. Staff were friendly and welcoming, however this did not off set the fact that wine was only available in miniature single bottles, with very little choice, and TV on constantly, plus fruit machine! We stayed for two nights, on a Thursday and Friday, and booked a table for our first night. The menu was pretty dull, but had the standard fare available in most pubs these days. However the food was fresh and hot. It was a quiet evening with only half a dozen or so customers, so the enormous TV playing on mute was entirely unnecessary! The rooms were pretty grim. Venetian blind slats broken in multiple places, and no blackout curtains. Therefore woken not only by the noisy street, but daylight streaming in from 5am. There was no plug in the sink, non existent water pressure and extractor fan not working. No Wifi available in the rooms, and although the room gave the appearance of being serviced, the cups had clearly only been rinsed, as my lipstick was still on it . The bed hadn’t been made, and towels not changed. Overpriced for what you get, which isn’t even breakfast! I raised all these concerns with the bar staff, as there was no management available, she kindly offered us a free round of drinks. However I have not yet received any communication from the manager/owner.

Came across the normandie Pub With a lovely beer garden Has a few ciders served by Peter and Claudia We ordered food When it arrived it was nice size portions And hot Would definitely recommend the normandie For food and atmosphere in the beer garden which was a bit of a sun trap Would definitely return.

This has become our home from Home! We come to Tenby regularly and the food and drink here is really good. The log fire in winter is welcoming and we always get great service. It’s family friendly and the kids meals are generous portions! Highly recommend the pizzas and the Normandie burger which has bbq sauce. It’s my fave.

We went in to another pub who were very rude close by and told us the couldn’t accommodate us not even for a drink. They told us to come to the Normandie pub….. and I’m so glad we did. The food was excellent we all had baguettes and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would return again when in Tenby.

What an amazing place. Staff are really friendly, nothing was to much trouble, they even ran out as my father in law forgot his hat, Food was amazing very generous portion size nobody in my party had any problems, prices are reasonable. Called in for lunch with my husband. We opted for the Lamb Cawl and a cheese jacket potato. Both meals arrived within a good time and were both hot! The Cawl came with a chunk of cheese and half a baguette. The Cawl was ok.. nothing special, a bit bland and the lamb was very tough. I left the lamb and just ate the vegetables and the broth. The jacket potato came with a nice salad and coleslaw.. potato was cooked perfect but would of liked a bit more cheese on the potato! Reasonably priced restaurant for The area and a good choice on the menu.

Service staffs were nice but unfortunately food is bad. Pizza is obviously frozen kind that you can get from nearby Sainsbury. Calamari is oily and soggy. Coke is flat. It's disappointing and prices are steep for such quality. Maybe we just ordered the wrong items from their menu as other people seem to be enjoying their food.

Dropped in for a bit of lunch Had a warm salmon baguette, lovely fresh salad and coleslaw.wine 167 mls in a little bottle( Jack Rabbit) .fresh tasty friendly service. Only negative was stairs and carpet up to ladies needs decorating and upgrading.

This is a great restaurant in Tenby. The bar and waiting staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent. The only downside was that they didn't have much in the way of deserts.

Warm welcome from staff on a rainy evening. Pleasant atmosphere even though it was very busy. Great selection on the menu, food was reasonably quick and there was a great selection of drinks. We had a very enjoyable meal and time at the Normandie. Location very convenient for our hotel also.

Brilliant choice of food on the menu, great service, fab atmosphere and a safe welcoming environment for families. Even though the resturant looked really busy on arrival we were found a table quickly after we asked at the bar. We didn't book so we were pleased we got a table. The menu has plenty to choose from : seafood, burgers, pizza and sandwiches. We first ordered drinks from the bar then after a look at the menu we ordered food from the bar. Food arrived quickly, fresh and as expected. I highly recommend The Normandie!

Tried to order a meal for my daughter with a nut allergy, but was told 'there are nuts all over the kitchen' and therefore they would not be able to cook a safe meal for her. I accept this can be difficult for some cuisines but pretty disappointing for somewhere selling pizzas and burgers - surely it couldn't be that hard to take a little extra care. Very discriminatory.

Absolutely appalled at the service received, on a girls trip away this was the one evening we had planned to go out, originally to the billycan but was fully booked and we stumbled across this restaurant near the castle walls and thought it looked okay. My friend who has been vegetarian for years ordered the vegetarian lasagna and myself and other friends ordered the burgers, 2 with no onions & 1 without cheese…the only order that was correct was the burger with no cheese. My friend who is the vegetarian had a mouthful of food and on her second mouthful had to stop, started inspecting the food and saw it was a meat lasagna! She took her order up to the bar to question if it was possibly a Quorn lasagna to be told no they don’t do Quorn it must be a meat lasagna, this has made my friend instantly feel unwell and she had to go throw up and got extremely upset by this. My friend went to bar and asked the staff to check they had put vegetarian lasagna on the order and they proved they had so it was a mistake by the chef/s and the excuse we was given was they were short staffed and busy…not impressed. They then said we’ll plate her up a vegetarian lasagna now and we said don’t bother no way she will want to eat now and asked for a refund. Ruined my friend’s evening and the staff just didn’t care, now imagine the same excuse if they had given someone with an allergy that same excuse, not good enough & the burgers weren’t the best.

To be fair we were going to go to anither restaurant down the road ,but they were fully booked, luckily for us,the food was realy good, the price was about right,compared with other similar places, and the service was very good, we would definitely go back there in the future,
