6 off us were there Friday and Saturday. Great pub. 😊 we were visiting from Scotland for darts compition

I've been in alone or with friends and have always felt welcome. They always have a great selection of beer and the staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. I love the place.

Nice local pub. Recommended for a visit.

Used to be good but castle rock have let it become somewhere no one wants to go, last week one beer being sold this bank holiday just 4 of castle rock boring beers

Went yesterday afternoon after getting off train..Went in the lounge room and surprised the barman came round and said he was only serving in the main bar yet we were the only 2 customers in the whole pub??

Old school boozer, rarity these days

It's out of the way but worth finding as the beer is excellent and tends to change regularly despite a Castle Rock core range. Open from 4 most days.

Proper old pub, with great range of proper beers not that terrible lager stuff. Well poured. Good price. Music not to everyones taste perhaps

Little hidden gem slap bang in the middle of Notts. This is an old fashioned boozer with upholstered benches along the walls but it keeps an extensive range of real ale and unusual keg. Warm pork scratchings and the only bar billiard table in the county

Half the pub was closed for a private event (even though no one was in there) so the area we were is was a little squashed. Good selection of real ales and craft beers (the arbor tik tonk was stunning) Unfortunately when we visited there was an extremely loud group of men on thier Christmas party playing a darts game which apparently required a lot of shouting and the pub had the bullseye theme tune music on repeat which was extremely irritating for other customers. For these reasons despite the excellent beers we only stayed for one and moved on. I'll try it again but first impressions for atmosphere weren't great.

Staff are lovely but there is not much atmosphere. Ok for a midweek drink with your granddad

Top place - a good choice for well-kept local ales. Felt like a proper pub.

Popped in today to try the new menu on offer from D-Grilled dhaba kitchen which is cooking up fresh food within the pub. I had the lamb tikka wrap and it was blummin' lovely! Food is served in a takeaway carton, so you can eat in the pub if you want to, sit outside in the sunshine or take it away to eat if you want/need to (which I did as my lunchtime is short - but I also had a swift half while I was there too 😉) Can fully recommend a visit for both drinks and food.... And maybe even have yourself a game of Bar Billiards as well, it's quite addictive once you try it!

Good beer, friendly staff and a mushroom pool table (bar billiards ). Big bags of pork scratchings. What's not to love? I'm updating my review, it's still awesome, great land lord and a real pub feel. Best in town. New land lady, she's bloody lovely, and a fantastic warm pork scratching machine! This place just gets better and better!

Great pub, been going there for 7 years, recently under new management, as Colin and Jen retired after 11 years. Louise and Jackie who both run the pub are lovely and know their stuff when it comes to alcohol. There is a bar billiards table and darts board in one room, and a lounge bar in the other. A fantastic choice of ales and stouts! Love the castle rock app and the collection of points!

Great atmosphere and excellent selection of beers. Bar Billiards, darts and other games. Definitely worth a visit.

Love this place. Just a shame it closes at 9 pm at the weekend.

This pub has been given a new lease of life from the lovely new landlady and a bit of help from Castle Rock. Cracking friendly atmosphere, lots of trad and craft beers to choose from, bar snacks and plenty of games available including darts and the only bar billiards table in Nottingham. An up and coming place for a pre/post football/hockey/concert drink, or just somewhere to kick back with a cracking pint and lovely company.

It has newly been taken over. The landlady is very friendly. There is a good beer selection. More craft cans are coming in shortly. There is a selection of pub games, like darts and bar billiards (only one in Nottingham). They serve warm pork scratchings, which are very nice.

Wonderful atmosphere, excellent place once again to enjoy pre match drinks. Good well kept range of beers.

We have tried a few times to visit this pub and this time it was open!!. Nice selection of real ale.

Great old school pub. Very reasonable bet prices.

A good, nay great city pub. Beer selection was great. The only thing I can think is that it's a bit out of the way as to why it was fairly quiet when we were there. Definitely worth a detour.

A bit weird, perhaps trying too hard to find an identity. Bar occupied by a rather raucous bunch of people when we arrived but they soon left to leave us alone in a highly-decorated but rather soulless space. A genuine bar-billiards table in the other room so not all bad - but it could do with sharpening its focus.

Update 17/05/21: reopen and lots of hygiene in place, feel very safe here. Cheap, safe friendly, good as before but better! Friendly and welcoming. Cheapest ale in Nottingham city centre.what more do you want?

Only bar billiards table in Nottingham and very well kept. Have already been a few times and definitely intend to keep this up! Edit: definitely ended up keeping it up, been a regular here for four years 👍

Solid little alehouse, hidden from the spotlights in Nottingham [You'll notice it when you're walking between the Motorpoint Arena and the train station]. Six real ales on tap when I was visiting; I tried the "Mosaic Pale", which was decent and fresh. No-nonsense décor, friendly, community boozer atmosphere. Nice place for a quick refill.

A old fashioned type of watering hole. Well kept beers, rather out of the way place with snacks available. Not as cheap as a 'Wethers' but sensibly priced.

The worst pub ive ever been to the lady there is so rude and racist she threw a drink at me just because i told her she got my order wrong i just dont understand how they are still running a business

We stopped in for a few drinks after our long bus ride into Nottingham from Norfolk! We are from America and were visiting friends. Nice little pub, and the man behind the bar was very friendly!

What a pub! It has an amazing a ray of old school pub games like bar billiards. The staff were very friendly and the pints are well priced. You could happily lose yourselves for a few hours in here.. 😊

A lot of fond memories in this pub over the years. But I'm afraid as they no longer serve Stowford Press cider I can't see me going back in in the foreseeable future. It's a shame I I liked it in there.
