Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Do NOT pass this shop up. The croissant is melt in your mouth, the sandwiches are delectable and the sweets,.. OH the sweets!!! The shop owner is so incredibly kind also. If I lived here, this would be a daily stop- hands down!

This review is for the Arbroath branch of their bakery. The bread and other products are good quality, but not baked fresh every day when there is surplus stock. This is understandable due to the costs involved. If they want customers to feel their products are worth the price, then prices should be reduced where the bread (and other products) are more than 1 day old. Just because a bread or other products is more than 1 day old, doesn't mean it is "stale". The quality is such that they can be reheated or rebaked to bring back the freshness each day. The sourdough breads can be re-heated, toasted, and fried (grilled with oil) etc. A couple of slices are very filling and so I don't think they are overpriced, as one sandwich will fill you up for a long time, and a loaf can last for a week or two. Thin slices can also be enough to satisfy. They are like a complete meal with a decent sandwich filling. I am lactose intolerant and would appreciate an ingredients list for each item. Unlike the other Arbroath bakeries, there is no ingredients list of allergies and intolerances for each of the most commonly sold items. This could be a problem for them in terms of litigation, and having a simple checklist would help. Their croissants are good. Again, even if they are a day old or more, they can still be enjoyed reheated, and the quality is obvious. One croissant makes a filling and nourishing luxury breakfast treat on Sunday (for me anyway), so again, they are not overpriced if sold fresh. Recently, the Arbroath shop has been offering 3 croissants or 4 ciabattas for a reduced price compared to individually sold ones. That has been a good deal for me and got me returning to the bakery more often. Not sure if all their breads have been leavened or kneaded as well as they should be. The dough can sometimes be a bit heavier than I would expect, though still good.

Visited the newport bakery on a Sunday and ordered an almond croissant and a pain au chocolate. Very disappointed as they were clearly not fresh as they were hard and tough. Very expensive too and would expect fresh pastries as it’s always obvious when they are a day old. Heated them up at home however we ended up leaving half. Unfortunately won’t be returning

After reading in the La Liste, about this bakery we decided to go for a drive. Unfortunately not what we expected, we chose the cinnamon scroll as they usually are good, unfortunately they were not fresh, yes it’s Sunday, but if you’re going to open on a Sunday everything should be fresh Coffee was nice and the lady was very polite and friendly.

Visited the Arbroath branch. I paid £8 for a chicken sub roll. Two very small pieces of chicken, the roll was mainly hard-boiled egg and lettuce. The filling was falling out as the bread roll was not buttered. The man serving was rude, and I almost walked out. I wish I had. Cakes were dry, overpriced, and tasteless. I sadly will not be returning. I think this shop is destined to leave Arbroath.

The Newport bakery in Dundee's Westport is local for my work and hence convenient for lunch. Three times I've been in over the last few weeks and there has only been the same limited selection of filled rolls. I understand a concise menu for the purposes of saving on waste, but it would be good for the selection to change. The rolls are fine but some days they are a little dry. Tried a cake one day and it also was OK.

I bought a couple of pastries whilst visiting to buy the granola (which is lovely) on a Friday afternoon at Newport Bakery at the Westport to have with a cup of tea and they were all dried up and had no flavour. Totally disappointed. I telephoned the shop to complain as they were expensive for what they were and I felt they had been lying around too long in the shop. They apologised and said they would pass this on and I never heard back despite them taking my mobile number. Disappointing as the restaurant and bakers in Newport are really good.

One of my passengers told me about this bakery as I was driving them home from Edinburgh with his family, so I thought why not. I got a few things as the shop was almost dried out due to an event that day and was really looking forward to a nice cheesecake. The coffee was really as he promised, absolutely amazing late and the almond croissant 🥐 was out of this world. I wasn’t greatly impressed by the panzanella salad as I was expecting the capers whole and they were mashed with the pesto. Still nice but I would have preferred them whole, unfortunately by the time I got home to eat the salad it was a bit soggy from the tomatoes but wasn’t half bad. I haven’t tried the strawberry infused honey yet but I’m looking forward to it. It was a bit expensive but considering the quality and the work people put into it and the rising costs and its reputation it was worth it. Definitely put whole capers into the salad. It was a very nice break

Ludicrously overpriced for what it is. Not terribly nice bread at a vastly over-inflated rate. If you don't go early in the morning, all the food is stale.

This may be the cutest wee bakery in the east coast of Scotland. Such an innovative array of crisps, biscuits, jams, jellies, and desserts. Truly something for everyone. My partner and I stood in awe for about 5 minutes before deciding what to order. We wanted to try it all! The macadamia & rose biscuit reminded me of Ladirée in Paris… but even better. Light and delicate, yet still creamy, crumbly, and delicious. The nuts add a perfect crunch with each bite. The tiramisu croissant was unlike anything we had ever had before - to die for. I was only allowed one bite before my partner devoured it all!

Order the chocolate brownie. It’s probably the best brownie I have had in the area and for £3.50 that big slab of home made chocolatey gooey goodness is definitely worth it. We split one between two and it hit the spot. Seriously, order the brownie.

I've gone down to the newest branch in the Westport of Dundee soon after opening to buy a pastry to enjoy with my morning coffee and on both occasions they've been so tough that they've had to be binned. Around a month or so ago I bought an almond croissant which was way too dense and difficult to bite through, so most of it was thrown out. The second visit, I bought a cinnamon knot for my partner and a chocolate & cardamom cruffin, both were disappointingly tough and the cinnamon knot was just a big chunk of hard pastry with hardly any cinnamon flavour or sweetness at all. We've bought some of their cakes before which have been absolutely lovely, so they get the softer bakes spot on! Reading other people's comments makes me feel like I'm not being picky, I really hope the chefs/owners have a taste of the morning bakes and adjust the timings as it's clearly an issue. I'm a big fan of their cakes so will go back from time to time for those, but sadly won't bother with the pastries or bread anymore. It's a shame because there's not many places that do flakey morning pastries well in the city!

I have been supporting the bakery for the past year or so and whilst I really like it, the cakes in particular are wonderful - great choice and vegan options too, I have had quite a few sourdough loaves that have been dry and what seem to me, to be stale. I have often messaged on social, but never had a response. The focaccia is lovely though, very moist.

After a hearing lots of good things about the Newport bakery today we decided to pop in and try one of their pastries. We got 2 cinnamon knots as we both love cinnamon. My other half's one looked quite differnt from mine you could see that the dough a had been twisted on hers where as mine didn't have any difining pattern really. I bit into it to find it very difficult to get through the exterior and when I did manage to get a bite it was really chewy and felt like It was stale. Then unfortunately to make things worse there was literally no cinnamon in my knot at all just all bread. Its a shame as we were looking forward to this but at the prices charged you expect a high standard and these were mediocre at best. Sorry to say unless there is a vast improvement in the baked goods here I would not recommend it.

Avoid until the manager/owner recognises that her behaviour is incompatible with hospitality, although I suspect she's not the type of person to take feedback. I wish I'd read the reviews before I spent my money there. I didn't enjoy seeing an elderly fellow customer shouted at about a coffee, or other customers being told off about where they sat, and I didn't enjoy seeing a staff member being told off either. I also didn't enjoy hearing plates crashing about, if you have an open kitchen you might be aware of this. The food was nice enough but overpriced and the menu is very limited. I'm afraid there are no reasons to visit the cafe that are greater than the reasons not to visit. I'll be back to Culross but not to Biscuit.

Dear God. Didn’t think this place could get worse but it has. Not enough staff, tables not cleared, no water in hot water urn, no clean mugs, no milk in coffee machine and the one poor staff member totally run off his feet trying to cope eventually collapsed with the stress of it all. Ambulance was called so I do hope the poor man is okay. Absolutely appalling that Morrisons management have let this go on for so long! Staff your cafe or shut it down!! We sat for an hour and a half and dud not receive our order especially after staff member collapsed. Werent offered a refund as till couldn’t be opened???? But were given a had written credit note for a free meal next time. After a second disastrous visit to this cafe I’m not sure I would return again!! Management get it sorted!!!

We had a bad experience at this place. We went around 10 pm for drinks as we were told this place is opened till 11pm. But the staff and shift supervisor told us they are closed as there was no guests and they were not professional to welcome us. It was very obvious from their voice and look that they didn't want to serve us. Me, my brother and our teen children were visiting Scotland and it was very harsh to see such unprofessional and weird customer service. It was also obvious from their approach that they were mean to our color of skin and not happy to see color customers. Even though we talk about diversity but still people are not mentally and emotionally accept the diversity.

Carrot cake nothing like what it use to be, tastes like a betty crocket packet cake mix, famous fudge doughnuts taste bland and are very very expensive, feels like profit is getting put before quality, but i suppose directors need there bonuses, but on a lighter note the staff in the shop were brilliant. Pity about the cakes, sorry.
