The New York Grill Bar in Coleraine

Decided give this restaurant a second chance after being there in July as the food was amazing but the service was awful due to a mix up with starters and waiting over an hours for main course after the kids meals came and another hour to be offered a desert but put this down to being busy holiday week in July and decided to try it again on Sunday. Returned on Sunday for a family meal on the bank holiday weekend and wish we had not bothered. The food was once again excellent couldn't fault what we had but the service in this establishment really lets down the amazing food. We were shown to our table for six which had been booked well in advance of Sunday and it was on set for five. The service was really slow when we ordered drinks waiting some 20 minutes, the ice having melted in the soft drinks when we received them. When eventually we came to order we had been given the wrong menu and there was no soup for starters as per menu. The person behind the bar shouted at one of the waiters across the restaurant rather abruptly for the whole restaurant to witness this argument. Apart from this our starters came out and were beautiful. This is where it went downhill. It took ages for our starter dishes to be collected and our main course to arrive. The waitress was so rude and unhelpful. One waiter was wiping sweat from his forehead all over his hands and then lifting customers plates. When my beautiful Sunday roast arrived I enquired where was the Yorkshire pudding as on the menu. To be shouted at that the had ran out no explanation when plate arrived or no alternative offered. We had also ordered a chicken burger on the menu and when it arrived it had no side order. when the order was taken this was not highlighted that it didn't come with a side or we would have ordered, but the response from the waitress was really rude and we made do with what we had and shared out. As if we had ordered additional who knows how long we would have waited as we waited so long for the mains to arrive leaving my son with his main meal of the day just a burger. Now as someone who makes Yorkshire puddings regularly they only take 25 minutes to replenish and make a new batch and considering the length of time we waited between courses this should have been no issue or was very bad planning for portions of roast beef. We waited a further 40 minutes from finishing our main courses in the hope we would be offered a desert menu (this was the problem the last time waiting over an hour for this despite asking twice). However, this was no offered and we went and got the bill despite each waiter walking past our finished plates at least five times and each waiter clearing empty tables of glasses. Surely it is in the interest to look after guests in restaurant rather than clear tables at this stage in a nearly empty restaurant. Not once in the two plus hours we were there were we asked was our meal ok or did we need anything. we ordered a second round of drinks as our main courses arrived and they were delivered after we had finished eating and stacked our own plates. Food is excellent but service is really poor; Paid the bill and when got home realised that despite all main meals being £10 we had been charged full price for one. Wont be rushing back despite the high quality of food as service truly lets down and doesn't make for an enjoyable dining experience.

Four of us visited the New York on a busy Friday night. The staff were attentive and friendly. The new menu had many attractive options and we ordered a wide variety of choices. All were excellent. It’s obvious a big effort has been made to “raise the game” in the New York. We would be happy to recommend it.

Had dinner here tonight. Rib eye, haddock and burgers. Food and service were excellent. Lovely Pinot Grigio wine. Finished off on sunlit balcony with Irish coffees.

When arrived after 12.30 wasn’t even open & kitchen staff not even in the kitchen,being easter prices were over the top for lunchtime & menu not really a lunch menu, soup ordered & we overheard it wud take 30mins to get ready & it did with small hungry children it was not an easy wait & were actually about to leave when eventually fed, food was mediocre wudnt rush back as there are lots of other places to choose from, we went as it had been recommended by others who had been a while back but obviously thing have changed since then such a pity folks

Very very average Christmas meal. Soup was cold, tables didn’t have tablecloths on them, not a fine dining experience. Some dinners came with potatoes, others didn’t. No tea/coffee. Plates were cold. Crispy chicken was chewy. However the service was very good and the girls and guys were very helpful and engaging

The welcome we got was lovely and the chef made us dinner even when the restaurant was closed. He is so friendly and went out of his way to please us. We will definitely be back to stay. Balcony in room over looking the sea which is beautiful and a bonus for us smokers. The food was amazing. Warm friendly welcome all round. Can't wait to get back in the summer.

The food at his place is fantastic both me and the better half loved the Sunday lunch. One of the better restaurants up the north coast way the staff are very friendly and welcoming We had the special which we both agreed was very tasty and full of flavour. Would recommend to anyone up round this way Not to be missed

My 3 sister's & myself booked in here & stayed 22-23rd Oct. Just weekend passed. It cost £150 a nt per room & we had booked 2. The money was None refundable .. We arrived on the Fri. Nt... Lift wasn't working but friendly staff helped with our bags as 2 of us have walking difficulties & the stairs were a problem . The rooms were not very clean ... smelt musty . Broken tiles in bathroom ... window lock broken & couldn't open the window. Marks on the ceiling. Breakfast not included. We went down more stairs to the restaurant for a meal. Stairs were a problem ... We ordered 4 main meals & all of us left at least half of our meals.... Very basic & as cheap ingredients as possible used. Desserts cheap rubbish too ...Definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.!!! The only good thing about the place was the friendly helpful staff. If we could have been given our money back we would not have stayed there at all. We went to the Anchor & Royal Court & had lovely ...good quality food in them for around the same money we paid in the New York which was disgusting . NEVER WILL WE STAY THERE AGAIN!!!!

We had a visit on 25th Aug 2021 while on holiday in the area, booked online which was simple. On arrival we were informed they were running a “limited menu” due to “issues”. Right ok things happen. (Around half the things on the online / paper menus where not available) Had to order food and drinks using an app which is very impersonal as couldn’t ask for any advice regarding accompaniments, sides etc. As an example I ordered a “pulled pork burger” (which was basically gristle and bbq sauce), to me a burger usually comes with chips etc, nope a plain burger arrived ! Not even the “apple relish, fresh tomato or salad” which it was meant to have in it. In whole all our meals where disappointing and certainly didn’t warrant the price charged for food that was mediocre at best.

We were a table of six at the York restaurant tonight. The food was fab,prompt service & very friendly staff. Everyone enjoyed their meal ,highly recommended. The restaurant manager is friendly and very efficient ,our new favourite place to eat locally.

Went with my sons and on arrival ordered online our meal and drinks. The online set up here is fantastic!!!! No waiting around….especially for bill all paid for and go when finished. Good setup guys!!!! We got our drinks promptly and after which seemed a v short time, my rare rib eye steak and the boys meal together in very good time. We were soo impressed. The staff were so lovely and helpful. Can I say I had to send my compliments to the chef….my steak was absolutely cooked beautifully!!!!! The boys really enjoyed their meals too…..chicken gougons so fresh and succulent and a steak burger with all the trimmings and tobacco onions too. We ordered a side of veg which was really plentiful of broccoli, parsnip,carrot and peas…..plenty for 3 people. The desserts were also lovely……only thing was I asked for forks with desserts ….the spoons were fine but forks made it that bit easier…..but a 10 out of 10 for sure….a really delicious meal…..will defo be back….thank you guys!!!!

Basically if you cant order using your phone don't go here. Also good luck trying to attract the staffs attention to see if you can place an order. On entering we were asked to scan the QR code...which my phone was not able to do. We were told oh don't worry about it I will get you sorted, here's your table. We were placed by an open door and I ended up having to put on a coat to try and heat myself up, by the end of the meal I was also sunk down into the table trying to stay in my husbands shadow to avoid getting blinded by the setting sun. After about 10-15mins of waiting on someone to take our order I attempted to download a QR app as on the table it told you to scan for your menu (paper menus had been left but no staff came anywhere near us to take a drink or food order). We had planned to pay by cash but now as we were having to order on line that was out of the question. Over an hour after arrival we received our food, we waited on our sides to come but had to make a start before it would get cold. The food was tasty. When the table was eventually cleared of our mains we were asked had we order desserts. We had and we also had already seen what appeared to be the kitchen staff closing up and some one had to go back in and serve up our desserts as a take away as we just wanted to go home.

Definitely won't be going back! I went with two friends for a social meal. It took a full hour to get our starters and a SECOND hour to get our mains! The food was expensive for the standard received; £15 for a seafood carbonara that was dry and tasteless. The staff were nice enough, but inattentive and hesitant to attend us. Overall I felt it was a real shame, the substandard food and rediculous wait times really spoiled the lovely setting and view of the restaurant. Next time, I will just go to Amici (right across the road).

Beware! Booked for Sunday evening via website which showed normal menu- on arriving only reduced Sunday menu was available!!! Why not put this on website!! After some time to navigate app placed order food arrived at good time but we then waited for cutlery!!! Then wait again for 2 missing sides! Burger @£9 without side order was flat and tasteless better been had from road side van! Chips like warm at best! Only Guinness on draft again advertised online menu£4.50 today £5!! Kids portions v mean for £6.50 and tomato sauce was scary - red tasteless cheap rubbish! No prob with paying price but expect a quality meal and this was FAR from it!! Not a question from waitress if all was ok! She was too busy getting my children to clear the table for her!! Won’t be back and won’t be letting friends waste their cash here either!! App so impersonal felt there was not point in complaining face to face so I’ll just do it digitally here to match this restaurant digital way!!

This is probably the worst restaurant in Portstewart/ Portrush. £9 for a burger which a chip van cud do better with their eyes closed, plus £3.50 for a half bowl of fries! Garlic fries £4! Again half filled the bowl. Chunky chips with a steak, 12 chips, yes I counted. £4 for a bottle of beer? £1 for a glass of cordial juice absolutely ridiculous. £3.50 for a can of diet coke!! Bottom line is this; I don’t mind paying for a good feed, but this was so expensive and I / we left hungry. Kids meals tiny. I feel robbed & hungry. Never ever go here, absolutely TERRIBLE!!!!!

Bad experience we ordered via app and staff were clearly not in full understanding of the app’s limitations we were offered to speak to the manager and no manager appeared . The app was terrible we tried to order for 2 groups in a table...

Ate in The York tonight with our 3 children and it was a roaring success...and with 3 young kids that is high praise indeed. Service was excellent: quick, attentive and very friendly and the food was fantastic. Will definitely be going back.

Stayed here a couple of nights last week as our holiday had been cancelled due to covid. From arriving to check out no complaints. Room was very comfortable and good standard with chilled prosecco in fridge. Struggle slightly at start with the table app but...

I am all for digital technology but in Portstewart I have an issue with a few restaurants and this is one of the restaurants. How do you expect to survive if you only work from a digital aspect? Using an app or barcode is okay...

We arrived early and were given lovely seats with an ocean view. Had never used their new ordering system at the table however once used was really quite easy. Ordered the haddock & chips for both of us, very disappointing portion of fish & chips...

Family friendly restaurant. We had a lovely family dinner, very reasonably priced, quick service using their new digital ordering system. Lovely views with a relaxed atmosphere. Nothing was too much for the staff. Will be back soon and would highly recommend. Word of warning ! The kicking chicken wings are not for the faint hearted !!!

When we arrived we received a warm greeting from the staff. The new system of ordering from the table was seamless and the food arrived quickly. The food was excellent, sirloin done to perfection, cod was superb and kids meals were great. Staff were incredibly helpful. Overall a great experience

Very helpful on the phone as we struggled to get a booking anywhere else locally due to 'eat out to help out scheme's. They fitted us in for early dinner on our first visit.First time to use the online ordering. Very simple and easy to use and service is prompt for additional drinks or sides.Food was nice but nothing overly special.

This afternoon my boyfriend and I visited the York restaurant for lunch, to say we were extremely disappointed with the overall experience would be an understatement. To start we ordered the white bait which came out with very little batter on the fish, the texture was rubbery and greasy, and left a very bad after taste, my boyfriend is a huge fan of fish however he couldn’t eat even a small portion of the starter so it was subsequently left untouched. To follow we ordered the shrimp scampi which we also found to be rubbery, greasy and undercooked, not to mention there was a hair in the dish. Our other main was the chicken stack which was lukewarm, the chicken was very dry, and the tobacco onions were soggy and came out in a greasy clump. We also ordered an extra portion of tobacco onions which were just as poor. Neither one of us are critical or fussy and didn’t like to complain especially in the current climate and also because the staff were so friendly and helpful, however after paying £32 for one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had, I feel I have to speak up about our extremely unpleasant experience, which was mainly down to the very poor quality of the food.

The York is under new management and the food is well worth a visit. I had seafood chowder and salt and chilli calamari. It was nice but spicier than I expected. Kids fish and chips was best they have ever had. Lovely location and wish Adrian and team all the best

Disgraceful service, discovered after ordering yesterday that they were not doing the Govt eat in 50% off deal despite them being listed on UK Gov.uk. They claimed it started next week! Will never be back, limited menu and £22 for a steak in Portstewart. Awful

We heard that the restaurant/hotel was under new management and decided to call in for lunch. It was their first day! It was busy, but we got a table. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The chowder was gorgeous, packed with a variety of fish. The whitebait was also delicious. My husband loves it, but rarely sees it when eating out. He also had a portion of chips. Real chips, just like mummy used to make. Fab!Sea views and lots of people watching. I look forward to returning.

The family really enjoyed their mains and desserts! I got the steak with peppercorn sauce and I would rate the steak a strong 8/10. The peppercorn sauce was honestly the nicest peppercorn sauce I’ve ever had in my life! The £2.95 desserts were delicious for their low price! Very happy and we will be back!

Rather drab unprepossessing exterior, but comfortable enough inside for a function. Very respectable and keenly priced carvery, with affable staff. Great sea view from upstairs. Recommended.

My husband and I were staying the night in the New York Inn on Saturday so when we arrived we decided to have lunch unfortunately we really wanted sandwiches but they dont do any sandwiches at all. In saying that it was two courses for £5.00 which is brilliant value for money. I got the chicken stir fry on pitta bread and my husband had burger and chip. Excellent meal and very friendly staff. Would have given 5 stars if I could have got a ham salad sandwich instead because I only wanted something light for lunch.

We visited on a Saturday lunch part of our eight person party was due to fly out so we didnt have much time.We were seated by the waitress and I explained we only had a short time to feed some of our party.She and her colleagues were amazing we ordered and agreed starters and mains would closely follow each other.The starters came very quickly and were excellent, when the meals came again as requested quickly they also were superb, my Bang Bang chicken was incredibly tasty and perfectly cooked and plated. Others had bolognese, which was a big portion and really enjoyable, and chicken goujons which could not be faulted.My travelling relatives left on time ( within 30 mins)And we were happy to stay for a coffee .We really enjoyed our visitSummary a nice place with a view, excellent service, and great food.Oh and the menu was £5 for two course.

Our party was 2 adults and 4 kids and we’d a lovely meal which was the best value I’ve had in Portstewart. The food was lovely, kids meals were good and we were given a table with a lovely view. The staff were fantastic - very attentive, friendly and welcoming. We ended up at The York by chance but will definitely be back. Thank you!

Stopped for a bite of dinner after a long walk along the beach. Great menu, with very friendly staff. Good value too!!!

We ate at lunchtime and the food was fantastic and reasonably price. Nicely decorated inside and a view over the sea.

I visited with my husband and daughter early Saturday evening. When we ordered I asked if the chef used bottled sweet chilli sauce in the Chicken Chilli Pitta as I've been disappointed in other restaurants where they think it's ok to serve commercially pre-cooked chicken warmed up with bought sweet chilli sauce. The waitress kindly went to ask in the kitchen and returned to tell me that the chef said they make their own sauce. Great, I thought and I ordered the dish. We enjoyed our starters and the main courses arrived. What did I get? Commercially cooked chicken slices (they have a distinctive texture) tossed in commercially prepared peppers & onions (a distinctive flavour) & bottled sweet chilli sauce, (definitely a distinctive flavour) all tossed together and heated. Horrible. The other 2 mains were good however and the service was very good. Would the chef eat this dish?

We had food and drinks here as part of a large group. We ate upstairs, the food was quite pricey for what it was in my opinion. I paid £17 for a teriyaki salmon which was simply just salmon on top of some noodles. However the bar downstairs was excellent. There was a band playing at the back of the bar, it was just our group in there. The bar staff were so helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble for them. Really good fun bar with great prices!

This restaurant was recommended to our family by a friend, and upon reading some reviews on here we were a little dubious. However, as we were staying close by we decided to give it a go.

Called in on a rainy Wednesday, three adults one four year old for the two course for a tenner lunch deal. Couldn’t fault any of it food was delicious I would recommend the salted chilli only problem the starters were so big I couldn’t finish my main! Roast dinner looked delicious and the children’s fish and chips would probably have been enough for an adult! We had ordered buy one get one free bramble cocktails which were beautifully presented and delicious, the barman then offered my daughter a alcohol free cocktail when he saw her asking for a taste which he didn’t charge us for and she was thrilled with her special drink! Staff were very helpful and friendly and couldn’t believe the value for money!!

Came here tonight in a family group of 8 as a highlight of our holiday.....oh dear dear!!! While were had requested a quiet table upstairs and were prepared for a little delay on this...the end result was awful... Drinks we ordered arrived wrong and indeed one was spilled over one of the party!! After a delay starters arrived... mine was dreadful 4 little mushrooms in a pool of mayo ...no garnish. After and hours delay and after we had cleared table ourselves...the 'Mains' and I say this loosely!!! arrived 3 of the 8 ordered were completely wrong...My 4 year old granddaughter received a adult pasta dish complete with white wine sauce.....my chilli beef pitta was sweet chilli Chicken....it was then replaced eventually with tough beef in a sweet chilli sauce and sweet peppers!!!! Ugh. We then sat for an hour at a dirty table waiting on dessert order. ...never happened....we left without......with so many decent restaurants in the area please avoid here at all costs.....away for a bottle of gaviscon!

Called in to the bar at weekend for a drink and to watch sport. Bar staff used foul language for the entire time we were there and it wasn’t between themselves it was across the bar to people they seemed to know who were in having a drink and others who were eating. Also swore constantly in front of a child who of note was riding around the place in his bicycle!

Booked and Promised a function room twice before we visited for a party of 20 on Saturday evening. Arrived and no function room available. Service was abysmal. Staff were untrained and ignorant -throwing cutlery across the table and shouting instead of talking to people. Half party had finished their meal which was lukewarm before other half even got their meal. Never were asked if everything was okay. This on a bill approaching £400 was MOST UNACCEPTABLE.

Visited here on the friday of the British open, The food isnt the cheapest (outside of their special offer) but in fairness it was pretty nice, we didnt have to wait too long on it but thats about it.

Last minute decision to try and wish we picked somewhere else. After being seated we were left alone for nearly 20 mins so had to find someone to take our order. Food arrived in another 20 mins which was average. Pretty pricey for all we got, fish and chips at £16. Lasagne,hard chips £14. Watery jug cordial £2.10 . Jawbuk gin and tonic £8.05 ...... all a bit too dear I'm afraid its a reminder to book the tides in time next time ...we won't be back

Booked a table for two last night, arrived and waited a considerable amount of time before anyone came to seat us. Eventually when we were received we were taken towards a table they had just invented right beside the kitchen, infront of the hot plate and opposite the door to the bathrooms, I refused to be seated there and was asked if I was cancelling my reservation, not if I wanted to be seated somewhere else. Had my husband and I appeared off the street on the off chance of getting a table I would have understood but I had booked a table that morning. Ended up dining in the Newbridge, service and food was fantastic.

Three of us called in after enjoying Shane Lowry winning The Open and had no problem getting a table. Everything was great especially the wine waiter who knew his protocol. Just one negative, the waiter who took our order did not know how to smile, if he would have been back at our table again, I would have asked him, if he enjoyed his job!

We received a warm welcome to the busy restaurant. The menu had plenty of choice for everyone. The price of the main course chosen also included a starter and dessert. The food was very good, generous portions and enjoyed by all 6 of us. Service was good.

Wonderful dinner. Amazing service. Would recommend to anyone wanting a great casual meal. Awesome value for money !!!

This was our first visit to the New York bistro - but we definitely will be back! We had booked a table as we knew it would be busy - July holidays and Open Championship golf in nearby Portrush. The place was "buzzing" but our table was ready when we arrived and the staff were quick with menus, drinks, orders and serving our meals. All the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and eager to help. The views across to the sea are outstanding - but this was only the "bonus", because the food and service were excellent. It is very good value and has good sized portions.

From having a drink spilled over one of us to being overcharged by £65.00 I really can’t say it was a great meal out. The food was good but the service was not up to standard and let the kitchen down badly. The waitress knocked over a wine glass over one lady and never even said sorry. When challenged about the lack of apology she insisted that she did say sorry (in a party of 8 people not one of us heard her say sorry) the soaked guest was then told by the lovely bar manager that her meal would be free. He was excellent in dealing with the situation to the point of even offering to locate a hairdryer to help dry her clothes.

No food was ordered - this review is solely based on the extremely poor customer service we received. When the waitress came with our drinks, I took that opportunity to ask if some dishes on the menu were flexible (for e.g. swapping chips or bread for a salad) The waitress replied with an emphatic NO!! She then returned to our table a few minutes later to inform me that the chef would do a very small salad instead of the chips or bread option. Unfortunately, by this time we had decided to leave as her poor attitude had made us both feel uncomfortable. We instead asked for our drinks bill and consequently left the restaurant. Perhaps, when I first posed the question, she should have asked the chef at that point and not after the damage had been done. I really doubt we will return to this restaurant simply based on this experience. There are plenty of eateries who boast excellent customer service-this is definitely not one of them!!

Supervisor Gary I think is a complete tool couldn’t run a bath doesn’t know what he is doing and is ignorant completely ruined everyone’s drink by the looks he even gives for a supervisor it isn’t on

Eight of us called in without booking a table and were immediately shown to a little booth which just about got us all seated. The young staff where both inventive and courteous and the whole place had a buzz about it. Shortly after we arrived every table was full which is always a good sign. All our food arrived together and was piping hot. We were seated at the rear near the kitchen serving hatch which was fine but it looked like you may have a sea view if you were seated closer to the front of the dining area near the front windows. Overall a pleasant experience which we hope to repeat soon

Been here twice recently, first time we where quite late in and near last orders, asked was it okay to still the guy said yes as long as we where quick, looks like a manager maybe not sure, Buh was the only person on he was with other tables, drinks didn’t come down to we got our food, the food itself was decent had no issues at all apart from the desert seemed shop bought, was polite enough to me and my partner. We got the feeling that we where being really rushed we gave him the benefit of the doubt and came down northwest 200 week and was a really nice evening and wanted to sit outside, went to the bar ordered the food and drinks, starter came and was fine but then our main came out and we hadn’t even finished our starter yet again felt rushed was good amount of people in but not crazy, the staff could do with a smile and a bit more care with their customers! More experience staff members and more cheerful staff this place would be a lot better, food was decent for the price no complaints that regards

What is it that they say about a busy hotel......yes, that it must be good. And it was, although we did have quite a wait. We were so hungry, but it was worth the wait. Everyone is always so friendly, and there's plenty of choice. Love it!

Really lovely experience here. Staff friendly, food really good and toilets spotlessly clean so ticked all the boxes for me.

Reasonable prices for beer. Food is excellent. Menu has a good choice. I had the chicken curry which was just right. My friend had the salmon. All good. Nice decor, good outdoor dining area. Overall a good place to eat.

I visited here this weekend and it was a lovely experience. The staff are amazing so friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and really good value. Prices in the bar are really reasonable too .

The early evening special dinner menu is hard to beat when it comes to a good selection of dishes for not a lot of money. Service is always friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant is certainly family friendly.

myself and my husband ate here a couple of weeks ago and it was superb, all food was very tasty and served HOT we enjoyed it so much that we returned with our 2 grandchildren for Sunday Carvery Lunch.. we were warmly welcomed by friendly staff, food was a great selection and nice to see freshly cooked Turkey breast ( not the usual plastic looking turkey we have seen in other places) also had HAm and Beef along with a good selection of vegables and potatoes... we were served a good sized portion by a friendly chef would highly recommend ... Also it was very resonably priced, our grandchildren loved it as well and want to go back

After having a not too good first experience for dinner a year ago we decided to try it again for lunch and it was much better. We had a light lunch ..a soup, which my other half said was delicious..parsnip and apple..I had breaded mushrooms followed but chicken carbonara which was lovely and a big portion. All very reasonably priced and well worth the money. Glad we tried it again.

This place such a good atmosphere day and night foods beautiful have been loads since tasty breakfast too and a beautiful view of the coast

had lunch today they were extremely busy but the food was absolutely superb had the pan fried cod honestly one of the best bit of fish I have had in a while my wife had the bang bang chicken kebab delicious thanks guys well done

This was a poor experience due to bad service. No conversation from original waiter and we ordered drinks after the food orders were taken. The drinks the arrived after the food. Very unhelpful staff bar one member who was pleasant. We would not return and felt uncomfortable and as if we couldn't wait to leave rather than feeling relaxed.

We stayed at the hotel and eating in the hotel's restaurant was convenient. The steaks are very good and so are the starters. The service was good and friendly.

Haven't been here for years. Dined here tonight with work colleagues. It was busy. Staff were friendly. Food was ok and very keenly priced. I had garlic mushrooms to start which were slightly undercooked as a bit hard. I had chicken maryland for main course followed by jam and coconut sponge and custard. What made the experience good was the location as across the road from the sea.

Just been this dinner time and had a fantastic meal.Try the spag bol,best I have ever tasted.Top notch!

The hotel and Grill Bar looks a bit scruffy outside, but is decently fitted out inside, and quite plush and pleasant.

A group of us were looking somewhere to go on the north coast that wasn't overrated or overpriced. And we found it!

We went here a few weekends apart in August which is their busy season but both occasions we barely had our starter finished & the main was straight out, same with dessert. I know they try to get as many covers as possible but it wasn’t very relaxing. The food was very good and tasted freshly made. Menu has a wide variety to choose from. The service was excellent on one of the occasions and poor on the second, we had to ask several times for drinks and asked for the kids meal to be brought ASAP & it was the last meal out with the mains. I would definitely return for the food but perhaps off peak season.

Arrived with my family and waited for over half an hour at the table. No one came near us to even offer a menu, a lot of disgruntled cross neglected customers also giving off at nearby tables. Where are all the staff?? Saw just one guy serving the entire time we were there, gave up waiting after 30 mins and walked out passing several staff chatting and giggling behind a totally empty bar downstairs!? My husband told them we were leaving as no one had even gave us a menu after half an hour and that more staff were needed upstairs and she just looked as us blankly and shrugged! Very bad customer service for a Saturday afternoon, will never be back, dreadful.

There's a wonderfully cosmopolitan ambience generated by the downstairs interior of the New York Grill Bar, in Portstewart. My visit for an evening meal there last night, with two friends, was a first for all three of us.

My husband attended for breakfast yesterday (31/8/18) with a group all to have “Ulster fry” breakfasts.

Booked in advance for family of 5 Sunday 12th August 6.30 pm - were given great table. By 8 pm we'd had our starter, other customers were frustrated also, service was atrocious! Spoke with Peter, manager who offered us round of drinks, we declined as had just bought a round and just fed up. Meal arrived, 2 of the meals were not good, 1 was what we hadn't ordered and the other - lasange wasn't great. Reduction in bill but would have rather of had an enjoyable evening, wouldn't return in near future!!

Worst service I have ever had. Staff so unfriendly and had a don’t care attitude towards us.

A large group of us, 4 adults, 10 kids and a pup pre booked this restaurant in advance and were very happy with our experience when visited in Aug 2018. Nicola the waitress, who had just started working there the night before could not have been more cheerfully obliging and helpful. The manager also went out of his way to ensure we were happy during the meal also. Service was fantastic. We ate in the outdoor area due to us having our pup with us and it was perfect as the kids could run about without disturbing other diners and the pup was catered for too with little bowls of water laid out. Gas heaters were lit to ensure we were snug enough. Price was very reasonable and view was terrific. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and many thanks to Nicola again for the service, chat and attention. :)

So much could be done to make this a destination high end restaurant. The food is basic, the room upstairs is massive and downstairs is like a canteen.

tried the bar one night and the restaurant the next beer was good and the food a revelation, portions were large and well priced left well fed and not out of pocket the service was polite quick and attentive recommend a visit

Called her in Thursday 16th August 2018 to book a family meal....i requested a quiet table as on of the children has special needs. The gentleman at the desk was wonderfully understanding and indeed arranged for us to have a table upstairs with another family with the same needs..on arrival that evening we were immediately shown upstairs to a lovely table overlooking the bay!! The service and attention was wonderful without being intrusive...the food excellent and very generous portions as it has been over the years. I would recommend this place to anyone. Full marks to the staff

We a party of 6 had lunch here and it was very nice. The table was booked for 13:30pm so no problem with seating. Service was fast and efficient and everyone was happy with their main course and dessert order. Nice views over the sea but not many parking spaces.

I've just had lunch here and found it to be a wonderful experience. With a special at the moment of 2 courses for 8 pounds, there was seriously good value for money. The staff were friendly and dealt very efficiently with the busy lunchtime trade. The food was delicious. I will definitely be back.
