I know the crannagh has now changed hands and the permanent staff there are another company now. My wedding was one of the last one by the arbutus catering. I was so happy with the service we received from arbutus catering. Barry and his team are fantastic, cannot recommend them enough to people. Denise was the lead for our wedding and she was amazing, replied promptly to all enquiries and was a warm, friendly personality. Our guests thought all the staff were fantastic and hard working. The barman was kept busy all day but he was always smiling and joking with my friends and family. The food was spectacular, our trio of starters were amazing and guests were brave enough to try the salted chilli squid and said they would definitely order that again when out. Totally changed their minds on seafood. We had a bbq for the main and platters were carried to the tables. Guests had the choice of chicken, steak, burgers, pork fillets, chicken drumsticks or hallomi and various side salads. The food was to such a high standard and guests loved it. My farming family were definitely well fed. We finished it with a dessert of peanut butter cookies and ice-cream which was perfect for a hot summer day. The staff were very professional and kept the day ticking over smoothly. I could not fault it at all. The evening food of bbq pork sliders and chicken goujons with chip cones went down a treat! The crannagh is a gorgeous venue for a laid back relaxed wedding. We were able to put our own stamp on it with our decor. The views of the river bann are stunning. It made for gorgeous pictures at the golden hour. Cannot recommend this venue and the catering enough to people.

Obviously under new management. Had to send a cup back as it was clearly not clean, soup was cold and tasteless. No apology for either issue. My mother in law used the disabled toilet, which has an insecure seat, flushing suggests that main soil pipe is possibly blocked. Generally this used to be a bright vibrant place, it is well on its way to greasy spoon status. Suggest you get a grip before the business fails.

Very friendly helpful service, coffee and Tea were both of good quality as was the scone and cream. We will definitely be back as we have been here before and found similar. Some other coffee stops at Whitepark Bay are always out of scones although their coffee is very nice but not much point in a coffee and nothing to eat with it. The Crannagh always have a good selection of scones. An improvement suggestion would be to carry Sweeteners for Diabetics.

A very sub-standard 3-course meal. The one star is only for the goats cheese starter. The mushroom risotto main was an over cooked plate of mushy rice and some mushrooms, with no flavour whatsoever. I’d have gotten a nicer brownie from a supermarket own brand range. Service was appalling. Hospitality is a tough business but a smile costs nothing. Drinks selection was very limited. To finish, we were seated in a marquee/conservatory area. The drapes from the ceiling were mouldy. This place is in a great location but they do nothing to make it a great place to eat.

Usually a visit to the Crannagh for an ‘Ulster Fry’ is one of the highlights of my visits home to N.I. I recently visited for the first time in 18 months (due to lockdowns) . What a disappointment! I requested no black pudding but asked if I might substitute it for mushrooms or baked beans instead. They said they had neither - baked beans are part of their children’s menu. The sausages were thin and watery, the fried egg was massively over-cooked. No choice of fried or scrambled egg and £2.70 for a small glass of orange juice from concentrate. At £8 for the breakfast I felt it was very poor value for money.

I love coming to NI for the quality of restaurants. This is the only time I have ever left a review. The starter, billed as a liver parfait, was a very thin slice of cheap pate, half toasted piece of bread and a blob of equally low quality onion relish. The main, billed as a 10 ounce sirloin, I would judge to be a low, supermarket quality 8 ounce steak. I asked for it to be medium rare and for the first time in my life, I had to send it back as it was so overcooked. The next steak was also overdone but I just wanted to get out of the place by this point. The price of the meal for myself and my partner was more than £70. This included two of the strangest Gin Brambles we have ever tasted and were a struggle to get down. Folks, avoid the Arbutus at Crannagh. They have read a menu from a decent restaurant and offer the same fayre, but the food and drinks served here are woeful. I wish them all the best for the future, but they need a new chef.

Went to the Crannagh with my parents for an evening meal. Firstly the menu seems to more suited to wedding party catering. Very, very basic as can be seen from the choice of sides (5 of which 2 are either chips or "fries"). Having ordered 2 x burgers and 1 x cod and chips, at £13, £12 and £12, I expected something a bit more than the fare that was produced. The plate with the burger and fries is exactly that, and all the normal accoutrements on a burger are designed to sit inside the medium sized bun. The chips come in a mini fry type basket. That was it. No garnish, a medium 6oz burger at most and the little basket of fries. The cod must've been just within the legal limit for catch and release, batter soft, tartar sauce bland, mushy peas looked tinned. If I'd got it at a chip shop for £7 I'd be disappointed. This place will get mostly one off customers as I would suspect locals will just visit the plethora of other restaurants who provide far superior menus and food at a cheaper cost and visitors will choke on their bill! You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. Giving a basic eatery a fancy name makes it even more ridiculous.

To be honest it’s such a shame, iv been here several times with my family but this morning was a total disgrace, I ordered a full fry for my husband, eggs benedict for myself and a sausage sandwich for each of of our two sons. I received a very skimpy fry for my husband, on my eggs benedict I was presented with hollandaise sauce that was congealed, looked like mayonnaise and ice cold, I mentioned this to the waitress to be told ‘that’s how it’s supposed to be served’ I informed her I ordered the exact same thing the week before and it wasn’t the sam ‘bearing in mind it’s one of my favourites, I even cook it at home myself and is definitely not ment to be cold and gloopy’ she got it warmed up and in all honesty it was a congealed mess. I let this go, on asking for my sons to have a sausage sandwich each they were given 1 slice of toast and one sausage each, but thankfully that was ok for them. I asked to add a piece of black pudding and a sausage to mine to try also. Upon receiving the bill we were charged £30, I thought this was extreme, so I questioned it, the manager was very rude and dismissive, we found out that £7 of the bill was for two slices of toast and two sausages for our sons, I thought this was extreme, my husband questioned it too, only to be told ‘that’s how it is, it’s my menu, and I’m the manager’ I also found out my very thin small piece of black pudding cost £2 and they are charging £1.50 a sausage and for 1 slice of toast each. Daylight robbery, such a shame but this is completely extortionate

Had our wedding reception on 5th September 2020 with exclusive use of the glass marquee. The staff were excellent - very attentive - catered to our every need. The quality of food served was of the highest standard and was commented on by all our guests. Our thanks to Lucy, Sylvia , all the team and the first class chef for making our day truly memorable. Given the current situation we were really impressed with all the measures put in place to ensure the safety of our guests. Went this morning for breakfast. SIX of us, we ordered, Tea came out. FIFTEEN MINUTES later, the tea was cold then one dish came out at a time, slowly another one and another one, same server. One of our orders was wrong, even though my son repeated to the server TWICE every order, At that time he said I dont think she has got it right. Anyway dead slow and stop until all six meals arrived, mine was cold. I went back into the restaurant where it was empty only to see minimum of 4 to 5 staff all servers standing around chatting, handed one of them the plate, told her it was cold turned on my heels and walked back outside to our table, by the way we were the only ones outside. So basically no one in the place apart from us apart from one other couple. The meals were small, one of the meals was three mini pancakes, I left in a temper, the others stayed. The person who got the pancakes came back and made breakfast as he was hungry, When I came back I made my HOT breakfast and HOT coffee.. This FIASCO cost me £40.00. which my wife paid as I left my CC with her, to pay for the meal. The others with me were not the complaining type, but I am if things are wrong which they were here. I will not be back. The others with me will not be back.

Ignored on arrival, had to wait to be served. Eventually shown outside by a nice young waiter and were told we could have our dogs with us. Also told they would come back and take our order shortly. When our coffees were brought out by a different member of staff (older male) we were told very stroppily no dogs allowed. He then walked off without taking our order. Waited another 15 minutes and nobody came out so we went in to ask only to be told, again in a very stroppy way by the older waiter, we had to go inside. Went in to pay and the same older waiter was just rude again saying 'what do you want' in a very abrupt way. Looks like he doesn't want to work there! No customer service on show at all, gruff and rude. We left without ordering food to find somewhere more welcoming!

The food was good and the staff friendly and attentive. I would recommend

Had carvery on sunday 16th. Was disappointing as most of the food was cold. We went about 2.30 and customer service was poor as no staff about to ask if the food ok or we would have asked for it to be reheated. We were the only 2 having dinner in the restaurant. No staff were visible throughout the meal until we were ready for dessert. Desert was lovely. The meal had the potential to be good as was well cooked. However I like my food hot.if staff had off been more attentive and food hotter I would have given it a higher rating. Unfortunately I wont be back for carvery.

I ordered Advocado poached egg bacon jam.... absolutely nothing like the picture on your Facebook page! No bacon as the picture shows 1 poached egg and one egg yolk with a few scrapping of what looked like ham, couldn’t tell as it was tasteless. The advocado tasted like vinegar. I cannot believe a chef would serve this dish ... perhaps the chef was off and they brought someone else in with no cooking qualifications... a child could have produced this breakfast. The other breakfast was also very poor in quality, quantity and presentation. We both paid up and left and went to Leona’s tearoom at the Magherabuoy Portrush, where we had a beautiful breakfast -well cooked, tasty and plenty of it. We have visited the Crannagh on many occasions. We enjoy the food & the location beside the Bann is beautiful. But if you don’t have a welcoming, friendly staff team, you have nothing. We certainly can’t complain about them all but there are some staff members who would definitely benefit from a course in customer service. On one occasion, live music was advertised. The musicians started playing however some customers complained that it was too loud. My wife and I visited Arbutus on Tuesday 7th May for lunch. It was not very busy, a small crowd in, but plenty of free tables. It took just shy of 20 minutes for the order to be taken and a further 35 minutes for it to be served, in fact I was just about to leave when the waiter appeared with the food. My wife had ordered a Chilli Ciabatta, which consisted MAINLY of onions in a mild chilli sauce and poor quality fries. Myself, I ordered the seafood chowder, which I usually thoroughly enjoy. Big mistake. In the bottom of the dish were three potatoes cut into four wedges, obviously to fill up the dish, covered with the sauce. Layered on top were two pieces of cod, two small pieces of salmon and ten SMALL mussels, four of which had not opened after being cooked. I pointed this out to the waitress to whom I paid the £21.70, her response was that she could not understand that as they bought the mussels fresh EVERY WEEK. Guess I must have drew the unlucky straw and was served the 6 day old mussels. Very disappointing, most definitely will not be going there again.

First impressions of this restaurant was good. It was a sunny day and amazing views over the river. I had requested a table in the tent part as it has the view, but we were shown to a table at the back facing the bar. I noticed there were many spare tables and people were leaving from the front area and asked a waitress could we all move forward. She was really rude and said no, they were all booked. I questioned why some people were entitled to book and she snapped that they had 250 people to look after and walked away. I spoke to the Manager and she apologised for the staff member but did not offer any explanation either as to why we could not move. These tables remained empty during our stay. The carvery was tasty and other than this girl , the staff were helpful. We seemed to have to ask for everything. Nobody explained the set starters/ desserts or vegetarian options. We asked twice for drinks, no ketchup offered with kids meals and no small spoons with the mini desserts. The toilets had no paper towels or toilet roll. It was not a relaxing experience for Mother’s Day and it is such a shame as this place has huge potential.

Our order was taken around 11.10am and served to us at 12md certainly not a usual period for a full breakfast and poached eggs on toast. When we got food it was fine. Whilst I would not condone the openly vocal suggestion from another table suggesting directly to the staff that they get their finger out as they were starving I totally understand his frustration so if you have to stay out of your house for two or three hours in the morning and pass time then probably down there is a suitable place to go.

On Saturday past I attended here with my parents for a late breakfast and I was very disappointed with the slow service we recieved and the restauarant wasn't even that busy.also I ordered the crosiant which they had run out of if so I had the pancakes instead and they were horrible and even when my hot chocolate arrived if was freezing.

Having booked for the 6 of us we were shown to the front area. There was a terrible cold air and after we asked to be moved into the main building the doors were still open and it was freezing. All other customers were making comments about how cold, the restaurant was. This however was not the only problem. The service was terrible. I t was 45 minutes before they took our order and two of us had nearly ate our steaks when the sides finally arrived. The food was nice when it finally came.

I had brunch with my family of 5 this morning, (inc 3 children). It was delicious. Really good, homemade and fresh food. We had the pancake stacks with bacon and berries, the American breakfast and the full Irish. We all left empty plates. The service was first class and efficient. staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The restaurant was busy, but we had a lovely brunch and would highly recommend to others. Lots of couples and families. A good atmosphere. Lovely spot. We will be back.

We dined last night and four d the views amazing. The menu is limited and we chose a couple of starters, then mains and two deserts. On the whole the food was tasty but we all found the food very heavy and you were lucky if you could eat half your main course. The pepper sauce was too rich even though it did taste nice. Do not have the Malteser ice cream. It was the cheapest non tasting vanilla ice cream with 5 maltesers thrown on top. Awful.

First time visit to the Crannagh, having driven past loads of times (a bigger sign would help lure in passing trade). We were seated quickly by Danielle and our order taken for breakfast. The menu is small but really well thought through, with something for everyone. They do cook to order so there is a slight delay, but the exceptional Lusso Coffee filled the gap. My 5 year old loved the pancake stack and both adults enjoyed their food too, and the hebredian breakfast muffin was superb. Very reasonable cost at £18 for three breakfasts. Thanks all and we will be back.

I reviewed this restaurant exactly a year ago and gave it 5 out of 5. The restaurant is in a beautiful location and I want it to thrive but it needs urgent attention if it is to continue to be successful. I arranged to meet a friend for lunch and were lead to a table in the extension which has beautiful views of the river. Immediately i noticed the general cleanliness of the place had deteriorated and we sat under speakers which were quite loud and decided to move to a quieter table. The table needed wiped and I had to ask the staff to wipe it and rather than give it a good clean they just wiped one corner. I could see that a number of people were sitting waiting to order for some time. water came to the table the tray the water was on was filthy. We both ordered the chicken caesar salad and it was ok but certainly nothing more special than i could have made at home. Once finished we must have sat for 20 mins before our plates were taken away. I went to the toilet and the bin was overflowing with tissue paper to the floor. A sign says they have high standards and want to maintain them and if anything is noticed to report it otherwise. It would be better if they employed the same system as other places where the toilets are checked every 30 mins and a sheet is signed. I just think that the staff have not been trained to take pride in their workplace and realise how important it is to keep very high standards of cleanliness. We went outside and ordered 2 coffees. We witnessed a waitress come out with food and not know which table it was for and have to take it all back in again. The coffee was served to my friend with half of it spilled into the saucer - a waitress came back to wipe it but it shouldnt have been served that way in the first place. I felt sorry for the staff I just think there has been no basic training nor any sense of the importance of working hard for all of their shift and the importance of being prompt to take orders and remove dishes and keep a restaurant spotless. I had been in before a few weeks ago and loved the menu that was given which included spring rolls which may be the early evening one though but the lunch menu also seems to have been less adventurous....I would ask the management to please address these issues . I will def come back and hopefully things will be improved as this restaurant has such potential and is a great asset to the triangle area.I did not complain at the time as there were too many issues and the food was just ok.

Lovely location and the food was fine but not outstanding and the portions were small for the price. The staff were friendly but not as attentive as I would have liked. It tries to be a cut above the rest but falls short.

I attended a wedding here for the first time on Saturday 30th June and what a delight! This stunning location is not only beautifully situated to host such a special occasion but the care and attention given by staff was second to none. We received a lovely welcome and this continued throughout the day with friendly and attentive service by all staff. Canapes on arrival were delicious, as was the wedding feast. The care shown by staff made for a hugely relaxing, enjoyable and happy day and I have no doubt the bride and groom were thrilled with the effort made. Congratulations to all! Higly recommend!

As locations go this would be hard to equal with plenty of parking space. The food is excellent and plenty of choices available, the carvery is especially good. Staff are very helpful and friendly, you should consider booking as it gets very busy at normal meal times.

Would not recommend coming here. Awful service. Food was mediocre for the price. Waiters had no idea what was happening. Pretty sure our table was forgotten about multiple times and our dinner took almost 2 hours. Seemed to be an inconvenience to serve us and we had to ask for water about 7 times and our orders were also messed up

My little family group visited this restaurant on a sunny, summer afternoon for lunch. We were rewarded with fine views of the river and the hills beyond. There is a cosy atmosphere inside and the friendly staff made us feel at home. We all had different dishes: chicken penne, chorizo chicken, fish and chips and seafood chowder. All of us were pleased with our choices. Most of the ingredients are sourced locally and the food was freshly cooked. I would not go so far as to describe the restaurant as fine dining but the food is as good, if not better, than other places I have visited in the area. Recommended for people who just want well prepared, cooked and nicely presented wholesome food.

I have been here many times for lunch, but this was my first visit for an evening meal and I was delighted to find that the food and service was as good as I have experienced in the past. Hadn't used one of these before as I thought it was a little too much california coffee shop but was very pleased to be able to get a good quality fry. It was the last item on the menu on the flashy screen on the wall and I felt a bit under pressure deciding what I would have in the queue at the till. Still It was very good, very well presented and I was able to swap the beans and black pudding for other items which is great. More room inside than I had thought and I would definitely be back.

I only put stars so I could ask - is this place EVER open?? Tried to take the family to dinner there and it's just never open, no info online about how to contact them, is there some kind of secret club that im not in? I'll change my review to five stars if the management actually reply with how on earth to make a reservation!

Disgusting..... Last time I was here I made a large order for my family as I wanted to treat them to a takeaway. After I ordered I could see into their back storage room. There was a tiered cart on wheels with chips in each tray. To my absolute shock and dismay I could see someone with a mop and bucket right beside this. When I watched the person PLUNGE HARD into the bucket, they splashed the chemicals from the bucket all over the chips. Obviously this is disturbing to anyone about to eat the chips out of here. I don't want myself to get sick. Told the girl at the counter and she seemed very disinterested. I therefore felt I would just cancel the order and leave as I don't want to be at risk or my family.

This was a brilliant find! Stayed in the Ibis hotel and wanted to eat without going too far. Absolutely beautiful decor. Warm and welcoming and comfortable. On Sunday early evening great guy playing and singing. The staff make this place without a doubt. Danielle, Amy, Neeru and Harvey. A fabulous team and we’re so friendly. To be greeted with smiles can be somewhat rare in hospitality these days!! Danielle chatted to us and was so helpful. A big asset to this restaurant!!!!
