I only put stars so I could ask - is this place EVER open?? Tried to take the family to dinner there and it's just never open, no info online about how to contact them, is there some kind of secret club that im not in? I'll change my review to five stars if the management actually reply with how on earth to make a reservation!

Sorry we won't be back, we arrived just after they opened, seated, drink & food order taken quickly, but took 40-45mins to be served. £16.00 for a rump steak that looked more like an over cooked thick beef burger. Food may suit those who wish to soak up a day's drinking, but not our cup of tea. In saying that we have heard that they do a good Sunday Lunch but unable to verify.

This is almost worth going to see just for the lovely interior decor. As the name suggests this is an old courthouse and it retains many of the architectural features and is family friendly. There are steps at front and I did not notice if there was disability access. Service was prompt and the food was really good. Kids enjoyed their meals and wifes curry was delicious. Coca Cola comes in proper glass bottles (not premixed rubbish) and pricing was very reasonable. Recommended.

Staff too lazy maybe to carry up our food? Inside could do with a power wash, even my menu was dirty!!

Went for an evening meal with my grandparents on a Saturday evening, they had been before and loved it. Food is amazing at rest value, I had the steak, which included a side, mushrooms and a sauce. The drinks are also good value, a bottle of wine is only £10! Staff are very friendly and willing to help with anything. My only complaint is that the live music made it hard for us to talk at the table, but then again it was a Saturday night and plenty of people where in only for drinks! Definitely has improved tenfold since Granny Annie's took over!

I ordered Steak and kidney pie but was told by the waiter that the menu was wrong and it should read Steak and Guinness pie. So i went with that and when it arrived it was awful looking. i had a large plate which had an enamel dish placed on it which contained meat topped by what looked like a long crusty roll. It gave me the impression that it was a dish for the dog. The meat had disintegrated and was just a lot of long stringy pieces in gravy and the bread topping was so hard and so cold it was impossible to cut. This to me is a misrepresentation of what a pie is supposed to be. The mushy peas came in another metal cup (very small) again sitting on the large plate. One taste and I had enough. The worst mushy peas i have ever had. The highlight however were the chips which were actually on the plate and tasted quite good. i also had a pint of guinness and it was fine.I complained to the waiter and he offered me another meal but given what had happened i did not want to take a chance. This was my first visit following the transfer from Wetherspoons and will certainly on this performance be my last.

First time visit since The Old Courthouse changed hands. The first thing that struck me when I walked in via the Captain St side door was the stale smell of dirty carpet however I know that Granny Annie intends to have a makeover and I can only hope that it will improve things. We were served by a pleasant and efficient waitress. The place was not particularly busy for a Friday afternoon which is unusual for this place and none of the past regulars were about which speaks for itself. No real ale and an unexciting beer selection. Drinks are much more expensive than customers were previously used to and I think that this among other things has put people of. The menu is basic with no great choice. I opted for a fry as a safe option. It took a while for the food to arrive and given that it was simple fare the wait could not be justified. The food was hot but greasy. The mushrooms were deep fried and greasy. The soda bread and potato bread were also greasy. The sausage and bacon were basic, cheap cuts with no real taste. I asked a waiter for more hot water for the tea but it never arrived. The Old Courthouse has some great, long serving staff but I think they must be fed up hearing people moan about the changes. Perhaps if management consulted with previous experienced staff some improvements could be made and old customers would return and be happier. I think it's a shame that this place has changed so much and not for the better. I realise it is still early days but I can't see old customers using it as their regular again unless things improve. A serious makeover is needed to iron out the wrinkles and a face-lift might improve appearance but it will not change what lies beneath. I can't see me rushing back any time soon.

This was one of the worst meals I have had in ages. Coleraine is crying out for a decent open all day restaurant - this could be such a great opportunity. Having been in the GA's in Belfast I was very eager to try this one. AWFUL. Food not fresh, curled up meat, brown salad leaves, very small portions, hard over cooked chips, dirty smelly glasses reeking of old beer.... ugggh so bad!! So dissatisfied. We will never be back. First time visiting since weatherspoon's sold this place and couldn't be more disappointed. We ordered two ulster fry's at £5.50 each and a kids small pizza and fries. The ulster fries were pitiful. One sausage one piece of bacon a tea spoon of beans (in a tiny ramekin) some sorry looking mushrooms two potato bread and two soda. This was nothing compared to the the disaster that was the wee man's meal. Twice they tried to cook what can only be described as a smart price frozen pizza and twice it was so hard it could not be cut up. No fries so they sent chunky chips which is fair enough but when they came back they had obviously just warmed the originals. They apologised and offered a burger which at time of writing we are still waiting for 15 min later. Truly shocking and not only would I not recommend but will certainly not be back.

Food came after another 10mins, they sent a young girl over with the food that had nothing to do with our table so I never said nothing to her. Chips were burnt, peas, Brussels and mash were poor and Yorkshire puddings were missing. Paid for our meals and left, hoping this is only teething problems and will give it another go in a month or so, waitresses could do with retraining in customer service

I've been here a fair few times and always enjoy the food and atmosphere. One of the nicest Wetherspoons I've been to. Always good food and drinks, and for the most part the staff are lovely. However there are a few members of staff who lower the tone. After being in the bar on a recent Wednesday I witnessed 3 female members of staff working. 1 who I assumed was a managered seemed to be absent more than she was present, leaving the other two do everything else. 1 lady who appeared to be new then had to rely on the other waitress for help. Although they worked well, at times seemed to be under pressure. This was confirmed when, what I assumed was a regular commented that the young girl was 'doing everything again'. When the manager was present there didnt seem to be any comraderie between the staffI've been in the bar on other occasions and seen the same dark haired waitress working with other managers and they all seemed to get on very well. Its a shame that this time the atmosphere between staff and the manager in particular wasn't as inviting as it usually is.

Visited on a mid week morning to have brunch with a friend. We sat at table 21 and got up and placed are order with the barman who was very friendly and helpful. Our food arrived quickly and was of a good standard. However what lets this place down is the management. The female manager just stood and questioned a staff member who appeared to be working well so she lacked respect for her team. We found this very off putting considering we where sat close to the end of the bar and could hear it all as well as the table by the window also passed a comment. JDW need to rethink there plans if they employee someone who speaks to staff in a condescending manner like that and appeared herself to be doing little work.

The food here has got bad reviews, but it is a Weatherspoons so I don't know what people expect. If you want gourmet food you need to go elsewhere, if you want a cheap and cheerful meal that has probably been defrosted/microwaved/fried by a novice chef then eat here. You can get a fry up for about £3, that should give people a clue as to the sort of food they're going to get, you get what you pay for. Nice drinks menu though, lovely craft beers and ciders, great surroundings as well, it was the old courthouse and all the character is still there, one of the nicer Weatherspoons as far as that is concerned.

This is not a restaurant, it's a Wetherspoon's Bar. Yes they have food though whether it's cooked fresh or microwaved is debatable. If you like taking your children into a big bar full of drunks for dinner then this is the place for you - the staff weren't interested. Food was ok, not rushing back.

I had my Saturday night dinner in the old courthouse with my boyfriend. We ordered fresh salmon and a steak with vegetables. The food was good and affordable. However, I asked for some olive oil and they had none! I recommend this restaurant for a dinner with friends.

Popped in last night to fortify ourselves before facing Sainsburys. Our usual Ham, egg and Chips, very good ham (Ham can be a trifle hit-and-miss), usual skimpit portion of chips though, all washed down with an excellent pint of Doombar (my real reason for worshipping at Weatherspoons)A really pleasent atmosphere, and seriously good value.A selection of proper/decent teas would be appreciated by Senior Managment, the stuff served is OK, but I get the impression there is a resurgence of interest in real tea, a demand that could perhaps be better met by Weatherspoons?Perhaps we should start taking our own Earl Gray in with us!We might still have a tin or 2 of Fortnum and Masons EG about somewhere.

We dropped in for a coffee and a pastry, but they were out of pastries so we chose desserts instead. The coffee was very good, as were the desserts which were ginormous. The prices were very good also. The only minus points were the faded decor and the minute gents toilet - that's a minute toilet for gents, not a toilet for minute gents though on second thoughts, maybe it was.

We came to The Old Courthouse and really loved the atmosphere. It was a great looking place. We quickly grabbed a table and ordered our food from the bar (as is indicated in the menu). The staff were incredibly friendly and both asked us how our meal was and said goodbye to us. We got the fish and chips and pint and it was pretty good. The price was also one of the most reasonable we've seen on our trip in the UK so far. I would go back again.

The history of the place was great. The food was good but they did not have all of the items on the menu and their beer and wine selection was down.

+ Good breakfast, cheap drink, nice location, good bar and clean toilets - rude and uninterested floor staff, had steak meal, avoid at all costs, menu claims sirloin steak, more like very tough rump, worst processed chips i've ever had, 9 of us for lunch and not 1 good meal, need I say more??!!

This was the second time we visited within a year. We appreciate the relaxed atmosphere and the reasonable prices. Each menu has the a calorie count, which was helpful for some of us on a diet. We love the salads.

First off, no lift upstairs and it is a long walk up. You have to order at the bar which means it is a long hike down and then back up. There is some first floor seating but it was all taken when we got there. My husband and I do not do stairs well so we had to rely on our adult daughter to get menus, drinks - and carry them up stairs without a tray -and order for us.The food was good, no complaints there but if you wanted a refill, yep -- the long hike down and up again and that was for a glass of water. My husband and daughter got a lesson in rugby from some young studs sitting at the next table over so that was fun. Because of the long flight of stairs, I don't think I would go back unless I could be seated downstairs.

Steak would have soled your boot! Maybe sitting under the hot lights for half an hour didn't help it much. The staff were run ragged and in fairness to them it probably wasn't their fault. Won't be dining here again soon.

when we all arrived and had ordered our meals it took the staff an hour and 20 minutes to give us our food which was half cold and rotten chips. when we where ordering our drinks at the bar they ignored us and when we asked about our food the staff including the duty manager was very cheeky and not helpful at all. they hunted us into a quiet corner and just forgot about us. A meal for 15 people took 3 and a half hours to complete and when bringing the meals they litteary throwed the plates on the table. I would definatley not recommend anyone to visit here for a family meal as it will just be ruined. i will be in contact with the head office with futher complaints.

A good filling large fry for £4.60 is hard to beat value wise and includes 2 slices of toast. Kids had the breakfast wraps which were well filled too. Was a tad slow getting the order placed as busy and only one behind the counter. The staff were pleasant. Free refills on the filter coffee. A varied breakfast menu. 4 breakfasts, 2 coffee and 2 juices for £18. Nice and roomy inside with typical wetherspoons décor. A sign at the front door states the wearing of football tops and baseball caps is not be permitted but several were on display which lowered the tone.

Not a big fan of Weatherspoons but this is a pretty poor place. Went along for a quiet pint and took ages to be served flat beer. There was also an English member of staff who was quite rude when i was finishing up my drink on the way out - think he was trying to act tough. All in all, I'll head to Portrush in the future.

Called in for a family meal one Saturday evening. I had the Tennessee burger with chips and the wife the chicken burger and chips. The children had a couple of the kids meals. All the food was good although the portions of chips were quite small. It cost just over 20 quid for it all which was good as it would have cost similar for something from a local chip shop.

Disgusting..... Last time I was here I made a large order for my family as I wanted to treat them to a takeaway. After I ordered I could see into their back storage room. There was a tiered cart on wheels with chips in each tray. To my absolute shock and dismay I could see someone with a mop and bucket right beside this. When I watched the person PLUNGE HARD into the bucket, they splashed the chemicals from the bucket all over the chips. Obviously this is disturbing to anyone about to eat the chips out of here. I don't want myself to get sick. Told the girl at the counter and she seemed very disinterested. I therefore felt I would just cancel the order and leave as I don't want to be at risk or my family.

Hadn't used one of these before as I thought it was a little too much california coffee shop but was very pleased to be able to get a good quality fry. It was the last item on the menu on the flashy screen on the wall and I felt a bit under pressure deciding what I would have in the queue at the till. Still It was very good, very well presented and I was able to swap the beans and black pudding for other items which is great. More room inside than I had thought and I would definitely be back.

Loved this restaurant, food was beautiful and the staff were so nice, I thought I'd left my purse there and they were so helpful helping me to locate it. We ate there twice on a 3 day holiday ♥️
