Absolutely terrible. If I ever go to Portrush again, I'd drive to KFC in Coleraine before I'd set foot in this overpriced, third rate food joint again. STAY AWAY!

Fabulous dining experience in the middle of Portrush. Staff are always friendly and attentive. Prices are fabulous, and the food is always quick, hot, and full of flavour. I can't fault it!

Over priced rubbish. 14 Sterling for a piece of greasy battered cod, and ripped off for 4pounds for a small bowl of supermarket frozen chips. Ridiculous. Bluebottles flying around. Not a fussy eater but this is one to avoid.

Food was really over priced, main dishes should come with a choice of side, got scampi it was £15 pound for scampi alone, and it wasn't even fresh I could tell it was frozen. £3.70 for a glass of coke. Atmosphere was shocking, no music, very quite, signs up all over the place, kids to remain at their tables at all times. Wouldn't visit this place again.

Great wee place, something kinda nostalgic and traditional. A friendly, family atmosphere compared to the hustle of modern restaurants and street food places. Food is always absolutely spot on and very well priced.

Called in on a wet Tuesday afternoon in Portrush at lunchtime,due to the bad weather the place was almost empty.Ordered the days special.Fresh beer battered Haddock,mushy peas,homemade tarter sauce and chips @£12.50. Waited a short while for food,when it came it was well presented,and piping hot.The fish was huge,with large white flakes done in a light beer batter,perfect chips,great mushy peas.The staff was very attentive and pleasant and service was great.There was a great atmosphere .Will definitely be back.

If you want to feel transported to 1970s decor, this is the place to go. I think they'd get more customers by hiring a professional designer to update the ambiance. Food was ok, but could have used "something special" that would likely come from hiring or consulting a modern professional chef. The fried haddock had a pleasant coating, so that should be kept. The french fries seemed to be from frozen, not fresh. The sampling of many types of salad with the grilled chicken was nice, but better seasoning of the chicken would have been nice. This is a tourist town, so they really ought to have on hand condiments (like hot chilli pepper sauce) that are standard in other countries. The Wi-Fi didn't work, and staff said it was always terrible on the rare occasions when it did work. It was obvious that the owners failed to use a competent IT network professional, because neither their network name nor password were customized to be human friendly (just the garbled string of numbers and letters that the internet provider gives as a default). Bottom line: this place CLEARLY would benefit from the owners looking around at their nearly empty restaurant and saying to themselves, "hmmm, perhaps we might make a lot more money in the long run by paying a short-term professional restaurant business consultant to bring us into the 21st century now." Heck, the owners should toss themselves in as a candidate for the reality show "Restaurant Makeover."

In all the times I've been to Portrush, this is the first time I've eaten here and I will be back. The food was fresh and tasty, and the girls waiting the tables were helpful and friendly - the cost was about normal for what we got and the waiting time wasn't too bad either.. it's up a flight of stairs but worth the effort.. The restroom was dated but clean.

Avoid. Waiting staff looked like they were in a trance. Didn't know answers to simple questions about the food. Food itself was just ok. Overpriced would be a compliment to them. £10.95 for a burger with a skim of cheese would've been fine if I hadn't have to pay another £4.95 for 'Garlic Fries' which were basically frozen potato cubes you buy from Iceland with a dollop of garlic butter over them. In all,we ordered a fish special, burger with cheese, chicken burger with bacon and cheese and chicken goujons. The latter 3 didnt come with fries! Bit strange. Started off by bringing us 2 cheseburgers. Sent one back and corrected them as per order. Then brought us 2 fish specials. Again, sent back as before. Been a long time since I've been out for lunch and not automatically had fries with my burger. I think £3.60 for a glass of watery 'Fanta' and 'Coke' takes the biscuit as well. Avoid the side salad btw l. looks dry and recycled from previous plates. The bill aas a joke. They Added a dish to it we didn't even order.! Overall a disappointing experience. Will never be back.

Food exceptional, quality, flavour, portion size and reasonable prices. Relaxing dinning environment, definitely a go to in Portrush!

Cremated steaks and dirty surroundings advertises pasta outside I asked for plain pasta (daughters autistic and only eats pasta) waitress told me the chef refused to make it

My partner and kids were very hungry at around 4pm and this restaurant was one of very little places serving dinner at that time. The decor is dated. Staff are friendly enough but young and very unprofessional. Prices are ridiculous and we should have left at that stage but stayed and wanted to give it a chance. I have never in my life ever received food that looked as disgusting as all of our meals did. The burgers were grey, the fish and chips frozen crap and I got a chicken breast swimming in what was a flavoured water. The most weird meal. I tried it, couldn't eat it. Kids were hungry so ate the burgers and the other meals weren't ate. At no stage were we asked if food was ok, probably because they know it's not. My partner paid an extortionate amount of money for something that we would have got better from a chippy at a much much less amount. I should have complained in person I know but I really didn't want to upset the young ladies serving and there was no management there. Will never be back!!! Ladies toilet's were disgusting, I found out at later stage.

Full of lovely staff and the restaurant it’s self was decorated lovely , although the food was not the best. Friend got a steak that was very small and dry , brother got a kids meal and the chips where half cooked and the rest just wasn’t very pleasant. Spent almost 70 pound and not very happy with what I had received

Interesting nautical themed restaurant with nice stained glass windows. Service was friendly and efficient, order taken promptly and food arrived in good time. Steak was cooked well, chips were hot and crispy and peppercorn sauce was included (often an extra). Chicken was perfectly cooked and selection of salads were fresh and delicious. Two main courses and drinks came to about £40. We were impressed.

Great food and atmosphere at a reasonable price. I've been coming to Portrush for all my life, and this is the first time I can recall being in here, and I wasn't disappointed. Note that the meat is from McAtamneys, and of good quality. The restaurant was very clean and staff were attentive and polite, and service was good. I do love coming to places which remind us of older times, and the Spinnaker was just one of those...make your way upstairs and you won't be disappointed. There is a very good kids menu, but it's not that far off the adult prices, but they do give good portions. And it has a bar in here, so you can enjoy a wide variety of drinks to compliment your meal. If God had of been kind and had a sea or waterfront view from here, it would have been the icing on a lovely cake.

Called in on a whim and our assistance dog was admitted. Food was excellent and the young lady who served us was so polite and friendly. I would certainly return to this lovely venue.

Don't Don't go here horrible food cold food rump steak was like a 1 inch strip of cold precooked meat over priced paid near £6 for 4 Iceland garlic slices complained to 2 separate staff members who just said sorry but happy enough to take the full price of over £70 no tips given except stay well clear THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE THE CHEF LOL SO CALLED CHEF NEEDS FIRED OR MAYBE MANAGEMENT DONT CARE NO MORE HELLS KITCHEN

Visited Spinnaker Portrush on the 9th April 'Easter Sunday ' and can say the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the restaurant is spotlessly clean.The food is tasty and well presented. So why 3 stars? The restaurant price's are in my opinion high for what it is. A typical example would be when you order a battered Cod at £15 you would expect a portion of chips, No, that be an extra £3.50 for a small bowl of frozen chips, so £18.50 for fish & Chips emmm! A pint of Carlsberg £6.50. This little restaurant/cafe could do alot better in my opinion as it's location is the town centre only for their prices. Every other cafe', takeaway and bar on that particular Sunday were queued unto the street. We simply walked into Spinnaker and were surprised to see empty tables. Maybe a lesson here as there's so much potential for this little restaurant .

My husband and I went to Spinnaker’s yesterday..Lovely little cafe/ restaurant, very clean and friendly staff.. Our food was good, only complaint was that they serve frozen chips.. Also I was surprised to find that my cod with mushy peas did not include chips in the price.. I have never been to a restaurant/cafe where a fish with peas doesn’t come with chips..I did question the bill as it seemed quite expensive.. In total a cod and chips with peas costs £18.50, very expensive for a little cafe..hence the three stars.

Had dinner here yesterday evening it was a lovely meal everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely be back the staff were all friendly and helpful would recommend it to anyone.

Went here yesterday with 5 others and everyone said it was a great feed ... staff were friendly and food was very nice lovely decor and we will definitely be back .. we had read previous reviews and I have to say we were nearly put off going but I am very happy we decided to go as we seen the reviews really do no not describe the place well 🙈 great feed and we definitely recommend if your looking a big feed 😀

Where to start? Dined in yesterday (Bank holiday Monday) 5 of us shown to our table by a pleasant waitress ordered some water and juice for table waitress spilled some of the juice when setting down the jug and just left it! Ordered our food which was just ok definitely frozen chips and onion rings which were hard. 4 members of staff all standing at the top of the stairs laughing and talking very loudly about one of them farting and running their fingers through each other’s hair and giving the male member of staff a man bun, then proceeded to carry out the food. Very sure no hand washing was carried out. Food arrived had no cutlery or napkins asked for sauce which was brought and set in the middle of the spilled juice. No one came back to ask if the food was ok too busy chatting and having a great time. A gentleman came up to ask about a table for 6 at 7.30pm and was told they wouldn’t take a large table that late seemed strange for a very quiet restaurant. I think no management were present and young staff left to it very unprofessional won’t be back!

Rude staff, we went to go for dinner on the 28th of August 2022 @7:45 and they said they were closed even though the doors were still open and it states on their website they don't close until 9pm disgrace

Absolutely fuming we went here Tuesday it was a saved up luxury for me n husband from Belfast we eat here before had fond memories of it.we ordered fish I got burger we were told chips etc need to be bought separately we got a small bowl of frozen chips under cooked an cold plus onion rings these were also frozen an totally beyond burnt they were so hard,I did mention it but was laughed at by waitress and adding insult to injury bill was over 40qd drinks was water I can’t get over this so bad

Called today for lunch and was seated right away. The staff were very friendly. But the food was a little disappointing. I ordered the pepper burger which was £12 and came with a salad of lettuce tomato and onion but didn't include chips. The burger was tasty but not £12 tasty. I think the pepper Sauce was out of a packet and a bit bland. My husband ordered their "famous" haddock and chips. The chips were frozen,he said he could get better fish from the chippy and the tartar sauce was cheap mayonnaise. My daughter had goujons and chips, both seemed to be frozen. The food didn't taste bad and we ate everything but for the price charged we expected slightly better. Again I stress the food wasn't bad but you could get as good or better from the chippie down the road for 2/3 the price.

Had the two specials today. Food was very nice. Just shocked when the bill came and saw I was charged £3.60 for a glass of coke, which might I add was flat. I did query this, and was told all soft drinks are that price!!!! Think they need to start putting prices on the drinks menu. At least people can see exactly what they are charging. Would go back for the food. Certainly won’t have a drink, soft or otherwise.

Nice enough place was clean and staff friendly but food wasn't great... I ordered the chicken with peppered sauce it came out and thought what even is that looked more like a pork chop it didnt taste like chicken, couldn't eat it, its bad when it comes with a steak knife to cut chicken. the sauce was very watery also. I definitely wouldn't go back. Over priced for what was put in front of us.

Food was poor I had 4 kids chicken nuggets an chips, chicken burger an chips, beef burger an chips 4xportions of pepper sauce 5 regular coke an 2 large coke bill was £101.60 the 4x pepper sauce were £15 it got better the glaces of coke were £29 would not recommend

Been several times now and food and service has always been great, when there last week a young blonde girl waitress was probably the most pleasant waitress I've ever seen. Keep up the good work

£4.50 for diluted juice £3.95 for can of Pepsi £4 for a spoon of gravy £8 for dirty greasy garlic frozen mushrooms that cost £1 for massive bag.. Frozen crap on the plate with brown coloured gone off lettuce. Honestly it's the worse most over priced place I've ever been it. NEVER AGAIN!! So bad I stood outside and anyone thinking if entering I told then to move on to the next place which they all did. I'd rather starve than go back here. 0 stars... The food here is very average and a lot of money for what you get. £8 for a burger and the chips another £4 for a tiny bowl that weren't even hand cut for that. Scampi obviously frozen not fresh and the prawn salad had the smallest prawns that you wld get in the freezer of any supermarket. It was empty when we went in yet we were rushed to finish up and leave. The person serving us didn't even know what draught beer they had and said we don't do that. 1st night in Portrush didn't leave a good impression and we won't be back to the Spinnaker

Went in for a meal Young waiters staff Not trained very disrespectful Laughing and carrying on and being rude went in with a young adult that has autism and special needs I hard them say to look at those to wiredos eating and kept coming over and saying are you finished and wanting to take are food away The food wasn't great either Frozen chips Ask for a well done steak cooked plain it came on it covered in peppercorn all over the rump steak When I paid I just said I was not happy with the service because they asked me but didn't do anything about it didn't clearly care I wouldn't recommend it I won't be going back

Absolutely terrible. My steak tasted like a dirty pan, I ate one piece, only thing nice was coleslaw. Garlic potatoes tasted of fish. When told waitress I didn't like it she just out her head down and walked away. Customer service has alot to be desired

Was in on Saturday 2nd July. Food was good but girl on bar said only draught was Guinness the others weren't working. Asked about bottles of beer only to be told there wasn't any. Very poor especially on a Saturday night.

Visited at the weekend with our family of 5 (2 adults & 3 young children), in fairness the kids liked their food, what we had was nice but it was average food, what would have been a pleasant enough experience was shattered by the bill £120 for us! A la carte prices for bang average food. £60/£70 for the experience would have been closer to the mark for what we had and they would still have been making a pretty penny out of it. We wont be back.

Made feel welcome when we arrived and then shown to our table. Promptly served with our drinks and then shortly after our order was taken and when our food was served it was delicious. The staff were very good and quickly got what you requested . Will definitely keep coming back. Well done to all of you. When we were in the resturant was very busy .and everything ran smoothly so well done again.

What a disappointment, always loved the food here but after finally visiting Portrush again after lockdown and wanting to revisit Spinaker I can say NEVER AGAIN. Food average, service discusting, actually still eating and was asked by waiter if we'd finished was so shocked that I looked at my husband in disbelief. If you were having a slack night that's OK but try not to show your customers that. I'm sure we won't be missed but we won't be back again.

We were not impressed with what my mother and I had ordered, I had ordered a matured cheese burger with a side of salad relish and chips while my mother had a steak burger with the side salad. What we got was a huge plate with a burger placed in the middle and the most pathetic excuse of a salad that comprised of two small lettuce leaves, one cherry tomato sliced in half and three thinly sliced strands of onion. The burger and lack of salad looked completely lost in the middle of the plate. Also the "matured cheese" on mine was basically a cheese slice that probably came from the local pound shop. The relish was served in one of those disposable paper cups that you normally find in McDonald's and was only half filled, not to mention the chilly wind tunnel that we sat in (there was a terrible draugh coming from the back of the bar close to were we ate) and finally I had noticed that the liquid soap in the toilets had been diluted with water obviously to make it last further. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the liquid soap turned out to be cheap washing up liquid In all, two burgers with one order of oven chips, a non existing salad and two cokes came to just over £31! I would have taken a photo of it but we were so hungry and wanted to leave as soon as. I know that things are really really tough and people are having to tighten belts but scrimping on even the basics and over charging for the privilege.....definitely not on.

Food was poor Mushrooms for starter (frozen) over cooked. Onion rings (frozen) where the same with my steak. Under staffed though the staff were nice.

My husband and I visited The Spinnaker yesterday with friends having not booked. We were welcomed and shown to a lovely table by the window. Drinks order placed and arrived quickly. Our food order was taken (not an easy decision, all sounded delicious) Two if us had the Mediterranean Chicken which was delicious, one had prawn salad again delicious and one had chicken and bacon burger another delicious meal. All food came out quickly, piping hot (apart from salad lol) and portions were very generous. We enjoyed it so much we plan to return today. Would not hesitate in recommending this hidden gem of a place.

My partner and I were staying in Portrush August bank holiday weekend. We had nowhere booked to eat and took a walk into the town. Saw this place and decided to try it. A member of staff checked if we could get served and it...

Very poor indeed. The only positive I can say is that the staff were lovely. The food was bland and tasteless. I had pepper chicken but the pepper sauce tasted of nothing & separated into a watery mess. The chips my husband ordered were obviously frozen & the onion rings were cremated. I had “chilli & sour cream fries”. There was about a thimble full of sweet chilli sauce & teaspoon of sour cream poured over little fried potato cubes. The restaurant was practically empty, considering it was a bank holiday weekend. To me that says a lot. We will not be back again.

The food was good but the price was way out to expensive. what you order you still have to order all sides that what makes to expensive. For a family I would not recommend.

I've had the worst restaurant experience ever ! Bland , frozen food you could cook better at home.. Dining out should be an experience not an ordeal . Gordon Ramsey would say this chef has lost his soul , will never be at this establishment...

Absolutely fantastic visit with my family, great service from start to finish, very very welcoming and nothing is any trouble, really nice atmosphere ( even though our youngest doesn’t like sitting down much at six years old ) however the staff took time with him and really took an interest in him which really helped . The fish is absolutely brilliant and cooked perfectly. just a lovely place to have a meal, we are now heading back to get the ferry to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, recommend and definitely will return

Great nautical decor with wooden ships and lighthouses galore. We got the special haddock and chips was delicious. kids got sausage and chips. Nice friendly staff and large portions.

The Spinnaker has been a mainstay on Portrush's main street for many years, but it was a while since we had been there - and we were very glad that we returned. We were there at a fairly quiet lunchtime and the staff were attentive but not smothering. The food was excellent, although perhaps a little on the conventional side - don't expect all the bells and whistles of the fancier places. What you get here is good food, well cooked and with a range of choices that should suit almost all diners. The dining room has a nautical theme which gives you plenty to look at, but which doesn't intrude on the dining experience. Our party tried a range of starters and mains ranging from burgers to salads, with no complaints at all. Prices are entirely reasonable and we would recommend giving The Spinnaker a try - you may well find that you like it better than some of the places with bigger reputations - and prices!

Traditional restaurant with lovely old fashioned food. Good steak, lovely plaice and fish and chips is wonderful. Limited opening hours and early kitchen closure so book ahead!

Very poor food, pepper sauce very bland, the frozen cooked chips were very dry and over cooked, my steak was well done not medium, a very poor cut of meat,mushrooms were fried in the deep fat fryer,onion rings were like something you would buy from iceland. My diet coke certainly was not diet coke, more like tescos own brand. Dessert presentation not good at all. No fresh ingredients used, will never be back. Fair play to the servers who were so pleasant.

Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Service was fantastic from beginning to end and the food was delicious with huge portion sizes. Staff were so friendly and couldn't help enough. Fantastic place x
