Absolutely aweful, booked a Sunday lunch, on arrival after ordering a stater we was told sorry we don't have that so we went for a roast beef dinner only to be told sorry no beef but we can slice a steak up? Absolute joke avoid this place. Absolute joke.why adverise Sunday lunch with no beef no starter's , sorry but no return for us..0..out of 10 for this place

Today I took my nan for afternoon tea at The Prospect. She lives near by and we had seen a Groupon offer and some good reviews. What we actually got far surpassed our expectations. I had communicated before hand online and found the communication excellent and prompt. We arrived at 1pm for our booking and was greeted by a very friendly lady ( who later we found to be the owners daughter) she told us to pick a table we would like and came straight away with tea and coffee. She was ever so friendly When our afternoon tea arrived it was huge and could have fed 4! The cakes and scones were lovely and a great choice but the sandwiches!! Wow what a selection. We were offered more tea and coffee throughout our visit and it was nice to see the place looking so clean and tidy. It was warm and welcoming and the owners really are making the best effort to attract customers. Others around us were eating off the regular menu and it looked gorgeous! We can't wait to to back to have a meal. It was a bargain with the Groupon offer but would have been still value for money without it. I almost didn't want to use it because I felt they deserved every penny. We will be back to try the rest of the menu very soon. ( ps don't let the roadworks put you off! There is access in boothtown near range bank which we found better to use actually)

Visited in July for Sunday lunch, the service was absolutely diabolical to say the least our table was booked for 3.30pm we left at 6.20pm, just to give an idea of the hanging around we had to endure. Food had the potential of being good, however most dishes were not piping hot and the service just spoilt the whole dining experience. The young man in the bar was very sympathetic and did apologise and appeared embarrassed at the wait we had, but seemed it was his first day, Just to give you a picture of our wait time, we had over an hour to wait for our main course and it doesn't end there, I asked twice how long our meals would be, my Husbands meal came out first, he finished his meal while we were still waiting for ours, had to ask again. Eventually came out, Luke warm, and to be honest we were all passed eating at this point. I wished we had walked out long before, as some guest did who came in after us. There were two waiting on who didn't seem to have much experience, one asking if we needed a spoon for our soup 🤔 we also got a distinctive smell of marijuana from one of the staff at one point, which was very off putting as he was serving our long awaited dishes at this point. I did ask when paying would they knock something off for the appalling service, I got £13 knocked off my bill for 5 people. Didn't hang around for desert, decided to call at Tesco express on the way home, as didn't have the patience to wait any longer. Very very disappointed and will be a very long time if ever that we visit again, which is a shame as I said the food did have the potential to be good, if it had been better organised with service and hot.

Visited for an afternoon tea with a friend. This was a first time visit after purchasing a voucher from ‘Groupon’. Didn’t know what to expect and went with an open mind. We were welcomed in and our choice of where to be seated, which is always nice. It wasn’t long before a very large pot of tea was placed on the table. This was closely followed by the biggest round of assorted sandwiches I’ve seen. Next came the selection of desserts. The sandwiches were beautifully presented with fresh tomatoes. They included good quality ham and beef and cheese. Also included were warm sausage roll pieces. Delicious. Next to the desserts, I had one of the scones which came with a generous helping of cream. I’ll be honest, we couldn’t eat anymore. The waitress and chef were super friendly and asked if we’d like to take the remaining sandwiches and cakes away with us. Yes please! It came back in 3 take away packages - so that’s my tea sorted ;) Would absolutely come back. One of the nicest afternoon teas I’ve had in a good while, and exceptional value for money.

We have been a few times before for afternoon tea and always found it amazing. However today it was not! Where to start..... the place looked dirty and shabby inside. Also had a funky smell. Dirty tea cups. 1 teabag in a large teapot. Food came out on the wobblies tea stand.... at one point we thought it was going to fall over. No plates, cutlery, napkins... Sandwiches were beef, cheese, cheese and onion.. . First bite all I could taste was margarine. All cakes were shop bought. Asked for tea pot to be refilled.... she brought the kettle to the table to refill....with extra teabags Sandwiches were something like my 8 year old would make.... cakes soggy. Sausage rolls were OK. As for the member of staff..... swearing, telling us about other customers.... came and sat down with us at 1 point... Defo our last visit... such a shame as precious visits have been top notch!

Excellent Food, Excellent value. Excellent Service. What can I say about the Food, probably the best 3x course meal I have had from a Pub. 3 x courses for £14 per person (extra £3 supplement for a mixed Carvery so works out £17 per person). Starter: The Black Pudding and bacon stack, with peppercorn sauce, crispy onions (best starter I have ever had). Main: A Mixed Roast Carvery (Chicken, Beef, Gammon & Roast Pork), Massive Yorkshire puddings & roast vegetables. Desert: Stick Toffee Pudding & Ice Cream. The New Manager, Waitresses, and other staff where excellent. So much I bought everyone in the kitchen a drink and tipped the waitress both of them separately. PS: Genuine Review from a genuine paying customer (Came father's day 16/06/24 and again 30/06/24).

Very disappointed 😞 we have enjoyed many nice meals here, but im guessing new management or new chef, because adequate is the best I can give it. We went midweek after seeing they had a 30% discount offer, but the food was barely worth what we paid for, and the service was scant. I had to find my own condiments and steak knife, and the waitress had no idea what drinks they had...wine and beer?? 8oz rump steak.....well it was beef of some kind, but not an 8oz rump. Had Sunday lunch here on 07/01/2024. As far as pub grub goes it was probably the best I have had. Service was good too though it wasn't very busy.

Family meal just before Christmas. Pub is tucked away, literally clinging to the side of the hills overlooking Halifax. Service was efficient and friendly, food was outstanding. The beef is to die for! Also, dog friendly with water and treats available. Highly recommended

Unfortunately my experience didn’t match up with the current high rating. The interior was dirty & the entrance smelt of sick - not the best welcome. The menu is very limited. Food below average. The only positive was the friendly waitresses.

Arrived wet and cold mid walk to a warm welcome. Tasty soup and a highly recommended pulled brisket baguette with chips and gravy. Fantastic tasty lunch. Beautiful place well worth a visit. Just wonderful

Went for daughter’s 16th birthday, food was amazing. We had 2 steaks, one lamb hotpot and one salmon meal, all beautiful. A few largers and gins, great choice at the bar.

My friend and I went yesterday for Sunday lunch and her birthday. There was a small portion of beef which was fatty and tough, but my dog enjoyed it for tea from both of our plates. What has upset me was that the young man showed me a bottle of red wine saying it was £40 reduced to £20 to clear stock, so never having spent that on a bottle, agreed to have it. When I googled this wine it came up as £6.99 so I’m horrified, even allowing a good mark up, Ive been conned, but par for the course, a woman and very old, which is a great disadvantage I’m finding.! While also being there doing a review for our club for Christmas lunch this year, we’ve been before, I’ve crossed off The Prospect Inn for any future lunches.

Visited for lunch after a visit to Shibden Hall. Read the fantastic reviews before so thought we would give it a try. Was not disappointed. Lovely welcome from the girl behind the bar. Both had fish and chips, absolutely delicious. Hubby then tried the sticky toffee pudding as it is his favourite, oh my goodness it was without doubt the best we have ever tried. Food and drinks reasonably priced. We will definitely be back 😃.

We chose Malaysian Beef Curry and Hot Crust Braised Beef Brisket & Onion Pie from the new menu this afternoon, both dishes were absolutely beautiful. A very warm welcome from a very friendly team in a lovely, clean family pub. Even tried a new delicious cocktail made by the latest addition to the team who is a mixologist ! Definitely will be returning soon!

Saw this place here first, as it’s not perhaps where visitors to Halifax would go. So we used Uber and got superb quality and tasty food, lasagne and a burger, our pub go to dishes. You couldn’t fault either Service was amazing and so friendly.
