Friendly staff, clean beer taps alway a big plus with pubs out the way. Will be back for sure.

People have rated the oak "excellent" and "terrible". I go slap bang in the middle with a leaning towards the positive. I liked it here. I was delighted to see a Katydid on the outside of the window. Lovely. Ordered a nut brown ale. Ot sat well on my pallet and the staff member was sympathetic towards my demeanour. Food service was medium speed and the burger tasted nice. The geography of this pub is a little roomy. I'd prefer a quiet dark corner to skulk in. Of the xxx burger challenge I tried four months or so ago, I must say that it was easy. A baby could do it. A perfectly good pub.

Great pub for young and old.... if you want to watch sport orplay a game of pool, or in the lounge, have a cosy meal. I highly recommendthe roasts. Friendly staff and local atmosphere. Dog friendly. X

Great pub! Staff are always friendly and happy to help. Sunday roasts are delicious, as are the burgers during the week too. Drinks are reasonably priced, lovely beer garden and great atmosphere.

We live nearby, used to go to 5ways as our kid friendly local, tried this place for a change, really pleasant, kids can play pool and have a muck around, not snobby or pretentious. Can get a bit laddy on a Friday with the builders finishing work but nothing the kids haven’t heard at other pubs!

Wonderful beer and incredibly lovely owners. I couldn't have asked for more. Even took us to the football!

Thr drinks here are very overpriced, £2.30 for a can of diet coke, the young barman was very friendly and pleasant, have to go there to play the ladies dart team, wouldn't go there any other time

Reserved table ready on arrival.... waitress a bit clueless with menu accompaniments and how things cooked however very pleasant staff and excellent food .will recommend and return .....a bit noisy and echoy in restaurant as large table of people over powered more secluded couples dinning.....

Well run , great owners ,great food and drink . A really lovely place just to drop in and feel at home , what more can we want !! I can even have champagne by the glass. The food is lovely really well cooked and presented , the desserts were so yummy !! Thankyou for a great new local !

Pre booked a table at the New Oak for my 2 daughters, myself and friend yesterday. I often pick up a Sunday lunch from this venue as its my local pub and and their roasts are great! I have just lost my Dad and needed chearing up so this time, decided to eat out for a change. The food, as usual was delicious but we had a few extra reasons to write this review today.. Not only did the landlord agree to turn off the football( it's OK, no one was watching (!) But he also allowed us to play our own music from our playlist on my daughters phone..... I thought this was a lovely 'touch!' Added to receiving 10% off the bill ( can't remember why!), but we were grateful anyway! I would highly recommend this local but for a warm and friendly experience and great food. Thanks again x

Family went up for a roast this afternoon....all I can say is WOW, It's was amazing. The portion size, taste and price were spot on. I can honestly say it was the best roast I've had in a long long time. We will certainly be back for another.

Ordered Sunday lunch 2.30pm...now 3.50pm, still no sight of food. Could understand if it was bizzy..not good..however food was excellent.

Roasts are back at the The New Oak , yes there was a bit of a wait but we were well informed all the way through as to it being a new kitchen and a staff member down , however the lamb shank I had and the pork belly for my mother were exceptional and well worth the wait, vegetables cooked to perfection, a huge piece of crackling for my mum and attentiveness and attitude were exemplary Thanks Patrick Matthews Just a shame the people on the next table had the eating manners of pigs and delighted in vociferously declaring a one star review was incoming BEFORE their food arrived even

I was made to feel unwelcome by the blonde staff member, I ordered a soya burger but wanted to see what it came with. I was told just as it says on the menu and if I wanted extras I has to pay . By extras i mean onions, tomato, some dressing perhaps but no ..I wasn't allowed so my burger was just a ' burger and a pine apple ring.' She then took my drink before I'd finished which sealed the pubs fate in this review

The manager is rude !!! 1 star from me.!! We spent £50 plus and he was incredibly rude in telling us we couldn't complain about the wine we ordered that was off !! the food was average too.

Quaint but sizable pub 2ith pool table and regular karaoke night. £7 for a double mixer is pretty good too!

Good local pub with good quality food and decent service. If you're looking for restaurant style service go elsewhere, but if you want a really good pub, this one's great! Sunday roast gets 5* from me.

The staff were welcoming and friendly, the pub with lots of rooms and outside tables. Until Yesterday. The establishment had locked down worse than under Covid, only one entrance with a flight of 15 stairs. My wife made the 'mistake' of asking why the pub was no longer easy to access for the disabled and physically challenged. The single male member of staff demanded to know how I !! would staff the pub with its 3 bars, ie how the pub could not make its premises available to customers with only one member of staff. I told him I was not responsible for his staffing and I met a torrent of abuse. When I suggested it was not the friendly welcome we usually met, he told us we were not welcome, and he would not serve us. He could do without our custom. As I said Shocking !! The one star post is the minimum I can give, that treatment does not deserve one star.

Ok place for a beer. Turned up for their quiz night on Sunday (advertised on Friday), but was cancelled. Bit rude....? Have now upgraded from 1 to 4 star... Been a few times since and found service good and friendly - probably I was a bit irritated first time with the cancelled quiz !

Came here today with my daughter and 5 boys ,the barman Dan was so helpful, my daughter funny about drinking out of the glasses they didn't have any straws Dan opened a new box of glasses for her .Thank you and the food was lovely served altogether and nice and hot.pleasant experience ...

Nice food but the owner (the lady)was unfriendly to us…She told me I’m not allowed to order kid’s meal for my self…I went there at 12 after my son had football match and wasn’t really hungry and just wanted to keep company with my 2 kids while they were eating. I have never heard something like this before any other restaurants.I mean everyone can order what they want. I don’t think I will be back again.

Tried to order a pint, told its table service only, cool. It took 20 minutes for anyone to come to my table, an entire 20 mins later I’m still not sat with a drink, but someone else is allowed to go to the bar and I watch him get served straight away?????? 45 mins in total for one drink is appalling. I know you’re busy, but 45 mins??? When I watched someone else get a drink in a minute flat ???? :(

We had our roast dinner delivered, and it was superb! So much food and plenty of gravy! It came in 30 minutes and was well worth every penny, we will definitely be ordering again!!

My girlfriend and I ordered a roast from here off of Uber Eats at 4:30pm, we have been waiting for the order for nearly 3 hours at the moment with no communication from the Restaurant. When I have called to ask about the order I have repeatedly been told that the order was "on it's way and with you in 20 minutes", after an hour of this excuse I was told that they actually had to make some new roast potatoes, and excuse which hadn't been used yet. If you are in absolutely no rush, or love waiting hours on end, then this is the place for you. Worst service I've ever had for a roast, would NOT recommend.

Okay, so it was delivered it was fab, I had the slow roast pork .. it was beautiful, pork was succulent potatoes were crispy and soft inside, and lovely fresh veg. Amazing :)

We were out for a walk on holiday and came across this pub. A very nice welcome and c omfy bar, and all kitted out with sanitizers and track and trace!

I pre ordered a roast for one after an extremely hard day.... I was told it would be an hour which was fine. Being in my own, I didnt really want to 'hang around' in a bar on my own( actually my local). The pub was busy when I got there and I was told it would be another 20 minute wait.....again, not a problem bit dodjt want to stand there empty handed whilst waiting so I asked for a 'drink, whilst I wait '. I am a manager for a retail outlet and customer service is paramount to keep customers 'coming back', and I know this first hand ( having worked for 30+years in the industry.) Assuming this is the landlady who wanted to charge me £5 for my drink I think is wrong. I was patient by not worrying about waiting another 20 mins but I then need to pay for a drink?! When I told the lady to 'leave it' she was abrupt and nonchalant.......seemingly not bothered on the slightest. I have heard great reviews about the food since the latest changeover on owner but this was more than disappointing. No one knows how someone has spent their day and what they are going thru. Empathy is a great trait to have and I would like to think that the very fact that I was ordering a meal for ONE would maybe alert the staff to being a little sensitive to a woman on her own in a pub and eating alone. A great shame. As my local, this would be a great place to get regular Sunday roasts for me and my family. I work full time and unsociable hours so a local take out roast on a sunday would be great. Please think about my feedback.. Mental health is also high on the agenda right now and this has really upset me today

We had a roast dinner from here in lockdown. I picked it up as I live really close. We had a vegan roast, vegetarian roast and a beef roast. The roast potatoes were even crispy when I got them home! The vegetables were a nice mix of cabbage, carrots, peas, parsnips. Even a bit of roast beetroot which I love. The packaging was partly recyclable. We ordered drinks too. They were all absolutely amazing. I really couldn’t recommend any more. Pat the landlord was a really nice man and helped with choosing. Really impressed - this pub was given a bad name by a reviewer a few years ago before Pat took over - which I ignored and I’m really glad I did. Thank you to Pat and his wife for an amazing meal. Lockdown was made that little bit easier! 😀😀😀

Ordered a roast dinner from here through UberEats and was really unimpressed. It was over an hour late, the gravy and potatoes were bland and the veggie sides were limp and inedible.

Very cramp conditions to play darts ,when you have 4 teams at home pleased to get out of there. Shame really feel sorry for the home team such lovely ladies .

Excellent quiz night every two weeks, good laugh

We went here for a family meal to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. We had various of the roasts and all were excellent. I always think the quality of the carrots shows how good the dinner is and these were excellent! Definitely worth a visit for the Sunday roast.

My sister went to the 'New Oak' for an evening with a close friend recently and was particularly complimentary about the new decor, the whole atmosphere of the pub and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Well done to Pat and his family for their efforts - i'm sure this is beginning of a new and happy era for them. Good luck x

Third visit for a Sunday roast since the pub has been revamped, the food has been excellent each time. Good value for money and good service. We came with my mother-in-law who is in a wheelchair and staff and customers were so helpful in making sure we got in and settled. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We've also tried the weekday Thai food which was also very tasty and available as a takeaway if you want.

Played darts there this evening had a great night catching up with everyone.staff were very good and the curry was very tasty all in all a good night

The toilet needs to be repaired ASAP as there is urine leaking onto the floor. Been like this for years. Forget tarting the building up sort this out first not rocket science.

My local. Friendly bar staff. Since new management it has been more fun to visit and more lively and looks more updated. Drinks could be a bit cheaper considering it is out of town but other than this its always pleasant to visit.

Was there for a wake but staff very friendly buffet food was good considering why we were there it had an amazing apmophere

Under refurbishment atm hence the place smelt of paint which is not pleasant whilst having drink. However, looks like it will be a great improvement from how it was before.

The landlady, bar staff really make this pub a fun place for a drink or too. There's a function room which is free, it always seems to be something going on. I like this pub!
