Great place to play board games and drink slightly cheaper drinks

Atmosphere is nice, and they have regular fun events, however there's a certain member of staff who will randomly decide to refuse to serve you for being "too drunk" seemingly at random, myself and a couple of other friends who have visited without me present have experienced this, and it almost seems like a cop out to not serve larger groups of people during peak times. That's fine, but dont pin it on people who are far less drunk than other people you've chosen to serve that evening, as it puts a downer on the night. A lovely little pub, just don't always count on being served!

Always have a great time here. Decent food and a fab selection of games to play!

The beer garden is just splendid, even on a rainy day (we just had to putt our coat under our butt to stay dry). The monday burger deal is jut a good opportunity

Made a booking for Sunday lunch, had a group of friends visiting and wanted somewhere near the station. Turned up on time to be told I hadn’t booked! I explained that I had booked in person a few days earlier and it turned out they wrote it in the diary for the previous week!! OK mistakes happen, fair enough, but they didn’t make any effort to accommodate us and just said we couldn’t get lunch. Very disappointing service.

Lively crowd. Quirky, old-style pub with a modern flourish. Outside area. Very friendly and rapid staff. Draught beers something different. Variety is always good - certainly in this case!

Very nice pub. Staff were very friendly. Six of us had a variety of drinks all of which were good. We had cheesy chips 👍. Best of all , they had bar billiards and a dart board. 👍👍👍

One of those British pubs American restaurateurs fail miserably to replicate. The Caxton Arms is a picturesque third space with lots of entertainment options upstairs and well-developed, sound/projector hooked up venue downstairs that I had a pleasure to perform at. I love that there is a curtain you can make the performance room smaller or bigger. The bathrooms are stocked beautifully, lots of happy ppl - staff and customers.

I was meant to be attending a Eurovision night that they had originally planned. I arrived and they told me that the event was cancelled and I should have been contact, which I was not! The staff were so causal about it and offered no means of compensation as I wasn’t contacted. Never going there again!

Only went in for a quick bite and a pint this time. I had a surprisingly delicious burger (the one with extra brisket meat on top, that comes in a perfectly scorched challah bun), and my friend got one of the £10 burgers (there are various daily deals - check them out!). Food was served in a timely fashion, and we enjoyed a couple of extra cold Guinness pints. Happy days! 🍻🍔

The food wasn't hot, there was very little veg, but the thing that annoyed me was a 10% service charge, which was not even offered as optional, it just appeared on the bill. On a meal for 4 with drinks this was an additional £8. I don't like having to refuse to pay service charge, if I want to add a tip then that should be something I offer, it shouldn't be imposed and it certainly should not a % in a pub. I won't be going there again.

A favourite for me and my friends, nice atmosphere and the food is good. Three toads tables, darts, bar billiards, and a selection of board games!

Only small gripe was the stuffing balls were a bit dry and. No baby change. However this did in no way dampen the visit. It’s a lovely pub, great food and lovely staff. Will visit again.

Love this place. It's great for ales, games, food and amazing atmosphere. I usually take my toddler and he is happy playing with the Lego available. Only downside is if you are too close to the toad table, but I guess that's everywhere

As a brighton fan has to be the best pre match beer stop.

This is my all time favourite pub, staff are brilliant and accomodating, food is great and I always bring my friends here for some lunch, chips are amazing and really nicely priced, one portion is enough to share with 2 or 3 people! Owner is really lovely and clearly makes a point to remember people. Also lots of traditional pub games and lots of board games! Beautiful beer garden and two TVs to watch the sports. Can't recommend enough

This pub has everything going for it. The food, both the standard week menu (burgers, fries, fish and chips, nachos, etc) and the Sunday roast are fantastic. Both menus also cater for dietary requirements and certain allergens such as gluten intolerance. Great selection and prices on drinks. They show the rugby and footie. There's 3 toads tables and a crazy amount of board games. Easily my favourite pub in all of Brighton. The Caxton is the spot.

I love this place, the staff and the food are so great! Our office of 60 is spoilt for choice in Brighton but this is possibly the nicest place you could come to for food or a good tipple. x

Absolutely love this pub, great atmosphere

Am a regular visitor here before Brighton home games, and despite often getting busy the atmosphere and service is always friendly and relaxed. Excellent choice of drinks - ales, lagers, IPA’s, ciders and non-alcoholic choices. Whenever we’ve eaten here the food had been delicious and reasonably priced. I live up near London so only really visit when coming down to watch the football, but if I lived anywhere near here it would absolutely become my local of choice.

Stopped in for a quick pint and plate of chips! Great prices, great service & great atmosphere! Will definitely be back again! If you’re looking for somewhere that won’t break the bank check here!

One of my "go to" Pubs in Brighton, met some friends here, sat and chatted in a lovely relaxed atmosphere with decent beer at a reasonable price, didn't eat on this occasion but have in the past and have always enjoyed it. Nice and friendly bar staff made us feel very welcome. Will definitely go back again!

Fabulous Sunday roast, nice beer and wine, friendly staff. And a nice little covered courtyard garden out back.

Refused service because I didn't know what I wanted to drink .. Bartender then processed to tell me he would not serve me. Interesting at 7 pm when people playing pool were rowdy!! .. if I was drunk would I be writing this .. SORT YOU MALE BAR STAFF OUT!!

Went for Sunday Lunch. Service with a smile but food was like eating a school dinner. Gravy, meat and potatoes very poor.

Had a great Sunday roast. My Vege wellington was lovely, great vegetables and gravy. Could have been slghtly hotter but I would definitely go again. My friends loved their pork belly and lamb. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Accommodated us last minute. Great roast dinner, along with wonderful service and good beer. A must visit for anyone who enjoys a really good pub!

My partner ordered the fish & chips, I had the vegan burger with skinny fries. Service was very good. Food was excellent- my vegan burger had lots of flavour, big portion & was well priced. My partner really enjoyed his fish & chips. Pub was surprisingly busy for mid week. Nice popular spot. Huge selection of board games - if that’s your thing. Recommended.

One of my favourite pubs in Brighton. Hidden down a residential road away from the crowds. Reasonably priced beer, live sports shown with no idiots and classic pub games.

Visited as a family.....played bar billiards all afternoon. Darts and toad-in-the-hole also available 😂Highly recommended- fun day.

Such a lovely pub, went for the simpsons quiz, came second! Will be back for sure. Impressed with how friendly and kind the bar staff were. Portion of fries was actually big too!

We had such a fabulous fun evening at the caxton arms. Went specifically to play bar billiards and stayed until last orders. Brett, Anders and Esther were friendly, and were genuinely happy to serve us, also checking we were okay, and serving us drinks promptly with a smile and conversation. They truly made us feel welcome, like we were regulars. Couldn't have asked for a better night. We will be back!

Absolutely super Sunday lunch and served by a lovely member of staff (so sorry I didn’t get her name) who bought all the food and drinks up and down so many flights of stairs to us outside! Food was amazing, all so delicious, and the extra cauliflower cheese was such a nice touch. Highly recommend!

This was an event for my work colleagues to say goodbye to wonderful people. It was a good occasion but sadly the food was not good at all stop one of my colleagues had a vegan bow bun which contained cold cherry tomatoes and that is it so sad full stop another colleague had fries which were called dirty fries and it was a case of some bugs standing supermarket fries covered in melted cheese which had been microwaved so when it came to the table you needed a hammer and chisel to separate them and the bacon was as hard as bullets. I had chicken fajitas which was extremely over salty and the sauce it was cooked in was extremely untasty. It was so frustrating my colleague had a refund for the bow buns and did not eat anything. The only saving grace was the game of toads and company that was there. I will never be eating there again.

Well, what can I say. Premium toads hall, fantastic atmosphere, great smoking areas and station adjacent. Not to mention the incredible staff, always make you feel at home. Top 5 pubs in Brighton

Oh how time change, I always get this place mixed up to the point I can't remember if I've ever been. It's late and just want to say thanks to the pub I don't remember, the staff I might of met, and the small ornamental lizard I thought I saw behide the bar in my mind palace of the possible maybe I've been there can't remember so let's try again. Oh wait it's coming back it's where Iet Joe for the first time, got trapped and a stand up and walked away with images of Freddy and I recently been bought my assistant a tequila Rosa and made them drink it staying it was vegan when they're not. I really like the fire escape 🧨

Sunday lunch in Brighton with the family - decent food, really friendly service and sitting in glass bubbles outside made the experience fun, and encouraged us to talk to the other table in there. Recommended

We visited Coppa for lunch and booked a table in one of the outdoor ‘igloos’ (essential to book in advance, you’ve no chance of getting a ‘walk-in’ igloo). The restaurant itself looks really funky, great design, and was packed. The front of house staff looked really presentable but were flapping and having difficulty dealing with demand. I wouldn’t recommend eating in the main restaurant if you want a good conversation with someone, as it was very noisy, but it was a Saturday lunchtime after all. The igloos were superb, really cosy inside and warm, and great funky music. Far better if you looking for an intimate lunch/dinner. There were blankets to put over your legs incase you got a bit chilly, but didn’t really need them as it was toasty. The service was surprisingly good, despite being so busy. Our waitress was great, very helpful and personable. I wish I’d remembered her name! Reasonable selection on the menu, and cocktails etc I had a delicious superfood salad with chicken. Loads of it and very tasty. And some lovely puds too I’d recommend if you want a ‘novelty’ dining experience in one of the igloos. (Remember to book). Reasonably priced.

Jack was brilliant and patient with me and my friend, he was cool and understandable even when we lost a deposit on a game (which was our fault!) Most fun in Brighton, cost wise, for a few mates! Toad in the hole and bar billiards!

Had a roast here last week, and it was an absolute delight. Everything was excellently cooked and we were all full and happy by the end of it. One of my friends even booked in immediately for the next Sunday! Booking essential!
