Thai Connection in Brighton and Hove

We get takeaway from here whenever we fancy Thai food. It's always very good, and portion sizes are better than a lot of other Thai restaurants. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

The pork larb and pork pad see ew was so amazing. Please keep it up and don't change or cut corners. Whoever cooked our order for deliveroo order tonight, 7th September around 830pm for P.K, please stay consistent and keep up the great work. I'm so happy I found a place that does great larb. Sometimes what I find is some restaurants can be unreliable with certain food orders (saltier or overcooked one day) which was why I decided to try a different thai restaurant, which led me here Update: 5 stars to 4. Ordered drunken noodles and it did not match description of dish made with basil, garlic and chili. Instead it had cauliflower 🤢, tomatoes, beansprouts, red/green/yellow bell pepper, carrots, brocolli, spring onions, yellow onion, purple onion, bean sprouts and parsley and lemon slice. This is not pad kee Mal (drunken noodles), as you can see no basil, garlic, chilli. What the heck? I don't even know what dish this was as I couldn't find it on the menu. It seems like someone just threw this together and didn't think a customer could tell the difference. If so, it's unfortunate because this is a good restaurant and maybe someone new cooked today? Please keep the consistency and quality control. Ordered Friday noon, 27th Sept Update 8th October: this is unfortunately the final and last time I order pad kee Mal. This time it had long green beans, tomatoes and pineapple.

The food here is absolutely delicious. Me and my mum went in randomly once after a yoga class and were pleasantly surprised by how fresh and tasty everything was. Now we make sure to go regularly and always try something different. I couldn’t recommend it enough and there are loads of amazing veggie options too! The staff are also all lovely. I don’t normally leave reviews but this place needs more recognition for how good it is!!

The food is fantastic. Delicious and authentic. However, the service is absolutely diabolical. I have stopped going there as it is so poor. It makes for a very unpleasant atmosphere as you can sense and sometimes hear other diner’s frustrations. The last time my family went we walked out on a quiet afternoon having spent 15 minutes sat waiting to be greeted or offered a drink while a member of staff stood chatting out the front on her phone. It’s a real shame as the food is great. However, until the standards of service improve, it doesn’t really deserve anyone’s custom.

I ordered them off deliveroo and I was so pleasantly surprised. It's authentic and just so flavourful. I went for the spicy papaya salad and it was so spicy so good I just can't believe I found this place in Brighton. Also they got the BEST tom yum absolutely not a doubt there.

Overall, this place is quite a find and definitely the most authentic Thai food I've found in Brighton. It's taken me years to find a Thai curry that wasn't loaded with tons of added sugar. They also have khao soi and other regional dishes that I've not encountered in the UK before. The only downside is I was disappointed to find that my vegan pad kra-prow inexplicably did not have any tofu :( . Just seems odd to have all vegetables and no protein for £10. I'll definitely try some of their other food in the future though.

I see all the bad reviews of this place and they sound like a different restaurant to what I just ate. This has to have one of the best takeaways and Thai meals I’ve ever had. And I am not easily impressed. We had the Tom Kha, Pad Thai and Pad Kee-Mal and all were delicious. Perfect spice levels, loads of flavour, fresh yet rich and decadent - just how I like Thai food. Only thing I can think of is that maybe this place is too authentic for some people’s taste? Not sure, but to me it was amazing. Highly recommend.

Amazing food. The best tom yum soup in the whole Brighton. The Lamb was phenomenal. So yummy. We had a lovely Valentine family lunch at thai Connection. If love thai, must try here.

Wonderful food and great atmosphere

Sent one rice instead of two. How hard is it to check the order before you send it out? I’ve given overall three stars because the food was amazing but attention to detail on actually getting the order right is very disappointing on an order value in excess of £50 which is a bit of a treat.

Fantastic Thai food. There’s loads in Brighton & Hove but this really does trump them all.

Took my wife here for an evening meal and were greeted by a friendly host with a great sense of humour. The menu is immense with so much to choose from. Food portions are generous, and as a spice lover I asked if I could have my food super spicy . The chef was happy to do so, which made us happy customers. Highly recommended 👌 can't wait to return.

The food here is delicious, we ordered papaya salad, prawns padthai, pad phed talay (seafood), and roti, with two drinks. For Thai people like me and my boyfriend who love Thai food very much. This restaurant makes authentic Thai food. The owner and staff here are friendly and care about customers. The atmosphere in the restaurant and the music made me miss home. I highly recommend this restaurant as the number 1 Thai restaurant on my list.

Been going to Thai Connection and then IM for over ten years but our food this evening was truly revolting. The service was even worse with large gaps between each person's starters arriving and then the same with the mains. My fish was cold by the time my rice arrived. The fish was over cooked and dry. It was so bad that I found it funny until we had to wait 15 mins for the bill. It wasn't even busy. A couple left because no one came to serve them. They did knock my son's curry off the bill as it came 10 mins after my fish but the bill still came to £100. I wouldn't pay half of that for what we were presented with. The waiter (luckily for him) didn't bother to ask how our meal was. I think he probably knew. It has literally left a bad taste in our mouths!!! Incredibly disappointed. Can't see us ever going back again.

I ordered a takeaway through Deliveroo and it arrived after an hour and 10 mins. My Thai green curry with tofu had chicken in it !!! Not great for a vegetarian and my chicken Khao pad was actually special fried rice with prawns, cashews and pineapple ‍♀️ bit of a disappointment as none of us like prawns or pineapple - 2 dishes were clearly wrong. Very disappointing !!!

Ordered take away from this place. Phad Thai grey and greasy, my prawns swam in grease. No flavour or flair, save yourself some money and hustle and go elsewhere.

It was my first time here since the re-opening as IM Thai street food and I do like the new look. It has a warm and relaxed vibe, and is really welcoming. Fab new menu too, more expansive that I expected. There are the familiar thai faves plus loads more if you fancy trying something different. I took a punt and was extremely pleased - it was delicious. Can't wait to go back for more!

Came here when it was Thai Connection and returned now it has reopened as ImThai. We were very impressed at the transformation. There is a new menu of Thai street food and all our choices were absolutely delicious and very fresh, with lovely complex flavours compared to our home stir fries. We asked the waiter for recommendations and they were just right for us. Two of us are vegans and it was great to have so many vegan options. Good value too.

Totally new menu, and a complete makeover; now called 'Im Thai'. Really good Thai street food, loads of vegan options. I had a fab spicy tofu dish on the waiter's recommendation. Thoroughly recommended!

My wife, our 4 yr old son, and I came for an early dinner. Service was prompt and the food was excellent. My wife’s tofu curry had two pieces of tofu in it, but it didn’t bother her, as the food was excellent.Come her if you love Thai food. They also deliver!

Rather cramped space downstairs. Wc upstairs. Lunch time deal for £8.95. Tasted fine. Would go back. On interesting Blatchington Rd in Hove. Can’t comment about the evening menu.

We ordered a takeaway via dinner2go and I have to say that the food was so disappointing- we paid £30 for a selection of starters that were not as good as you can get in the frozen section in the supermarket. The menu said that the mixed starters were the chefs selection and they really were quite tasteless- I’m not even sure what was in the spring rolls or ‘prawn toasts’. Not only was the food tasteless it was also the smallest portions and expensive. We really will never order from here again and will certainly never eat in. We’re also still hungry

Had expected better but having looked at the other reviews seems we should have been prepared for a long wait. The food is OK - not large portions whcih I think ivo the prices should be bigger. It's the poor customer service and slow delivery of food. Two waiters for 5 or 6 covers tonight yet we spent 2 hours for our meal.If you are in a hurry AVOID

We went on a Thursday. The restaurant only had 2 other customers, and needed a little more heating. The food was really good and served quickly. Good value foe money & tasty.

Me and my partner have been to Thai Connection numerous times. The food has never let us down, however the customer service can be quite slow which is a shame (they are still very nice it can just take a while to get anything!). Because of this we tend to get a takeaway. Either way the food is so good I just had to give it 5 stars. Highly recommend the Tord Kra'Tiem

We came on Fri 8 Sep17, at 9.15 pm. A choice of tables to pick from, so I started to worry. There was absolutely no need, good was fabulously tasty, fresh and service was great.

A nice atmosphere; the decor is a little rustic yet quaint and satisfying. Food was excellent, it was tasty and arrived promptly. Service was attentive. £25 for 2 - wonderful!

We have eaten and had takeaways on many occasion from Thai Connection but our most recent experience leaves us a little sad with how things were.

Food was at reasonable prices and got a discount using a tastecard the portions was small however the taste and price made up for it. The restaurant was quaint and nice Victorian decor and staff were pleasant.

A sweet little Thai restaurant, lovely waiter and the food felt fresh and lean. I had the noodles with seafood and the squid was perfect. I would definitely go back and eat more.

The reviews below about indifferent and apathetic service are bang on. It is no surprise when the owner (an old soak who just sits in the corner supping wine) doesn't care and even pretends not to be the owner if you want to voice a complaint.

The menu is vast. The dishes we chose were very tasty and different, maybe more traditional than in other Thai places I've visited. Service was good just I had to get up go and find waitress to ask for second drink.

I love this place and have eaten there many times. The food is great, freshly prepared and with good fresh ingredients. The service is usually good but if you arrive when there is a big group it can be very slow. They do take away also but not delivery. It's a relaxed environment which is good for couples and small groups.

Have used this place several times before, always a nice meal for a meal at home. Efficient service and good food. Staff friendly.

Being going to this restaurant on and off for 6 years. Food is great, authentic and worth visiting. Service is poor at best and non-existent at worst. With a bit of organisation and management could be great.

Short summary of my experience:Waitress attempted to sell a beer not listed on the menu without informing us it was £7.Starter tasted like childrens rice krispies. I ordered mixed grilled seafood and was told 10mins later that they didn't have any. So I ordered butterfly king prawns. 5mins later I was told that they didn't have any. I ordered soup. Friends meal arrives. I order water. I sit and stare until the end of their meal with no soup and no water. Waitress nowhere to be seen for the entirety of the meal- so with every request I had to get up find her and order. Instead of bringing coconut rice - they brought plain rice. Eventually I cancelled my order and requested the bill. Waitress did not bother to come to the table to hand over the bill but rather leaned over from a distance expecting me to reach across my table to get it and scurried away so that we can't speak to her about the experience. Was charged £9 for 5 pieces of little prawns in some sauce.To top it off we now have FOOD POISONING.

Second time I ordered grilled mixed seafood main course here and second time it was served without scallops .Both times I was not told, when I placed my order, that there wouldn't be any scallops with it.I asked to speak to the chef to suggest they either get scallops in and serve them up or change the menu so it doesn't mention scallops in the dish.This must go against advertising standards.Chef did not come to speak with me before I left so I've decided to leave this review instead.Be warned if ordering grilled mixed seafood which is listed as prawns, mussels, scallops and squid you are not likely to have any scallops on your plate.

Truly awful atmosphere. Edgy over attentive and awkward staff. Meals were Ok but we were served so fast and were in and out within 40mins, someone was constantly stood behind us which made me feel really uncomfortable. Weird place for Hove.

Well , what can I say one of the worst eating out experiences I've had in a long time - service is Very poor the food I could cook better myself and after waiting an hour before our food was finally delivered to the table & that was because we had to ask where our food was! The quality of the food was terrible , prawn crackers were damp and soggy ...I must say once more I was far from happy and won't be returning

We chose badly for the starter, a mixed starter which we more generic Chinese than Thai. Therefore a great surprise was that all the main courses ( we tried three ) were really authentic and tasty: just enough heat but aromatic, and distinctly Thai. A bonus was the friendly service.

We have dined here on a number of occasions but this time it was horrible. Asked for mixed starter for 3 told only available for 2 or 4. Asked to speak to manager, came back after 10 minutes and agreed to starters for 3. Starters soggy, long delay and after three quarters an hour only 5 king prawns available.(3 main courses prawns ordered.) already cooked we will give you smaller portions. Ask to speak to manager, not available. Walked out.

We have been going there since it opened about 14 years ago.We have always found the food to be absolutely delicious & plenty of it! We went there last Saturday evening with a couple of friends - we have been recommending a visit for ages.. how embarrassing!!We were shown to our table & given menus - however it was at least 20 minutes before anyone appeared to take our drinks order.The waitress was clearly inexperienced but we have no complaints about that - she tried her best & was friendly .The starters for 3 of us arrived in a reasonable time but my boyfriend had to wait an extra 10 minutes for his.These were delicious & plentiful.The main courses were very small & again we had to wait before the rice arrived.We always order the mixed grilled seafood,spicy seafood rice,plain rice & brandy duck.Tiny portions & my duck was just a few fatty lumps -we had to wait for ages after asking for the bill.Not sure if we will be back.ISuch a shame as it is our local.

First visit with a group to this restaurant.The staff apologised that they were all new and so were unfamiliar with everything!Our meal took over an hour to appear but when it finally arrived it was delicious and served on hot plates.

Years previously I reviewed this restaurant and had a little moan about the slow service. This visit we arrived at the unusual time of 4pm and again the service was slow even though only one other table was being occupied. Once 5pm arrived extra staff turned up as did further customers. So we were a little unlucky with our timing. All the food was very nice. I usually have the Red Duck Curry - delicious as usual. We all enjoyed the meal and, of course, will be back again.

A few years ago this was one of the best Thai restaurants in Hove, but no longer.We went early and there were only 3 other tables occupied. We were seated and given menus but then waited maybe 15 minutes for someone to return to take our drink order. By then we were ready to order our food too. The drinks came within 5 minutes and starter about 5 or 10 minutes after. The main courses took a long time to arrive and were disappointing. Small portions, and not particularly tasty. The green papaya salad was positively bland. The green curry was tasty but watery. The pad thai was equally disappointing. The beef pad prik was ok, but small and short of flavour.After we finished we finally found someone to ask for the bill, and waited ... After 15 minutes still no sign of the bill, so we got up to leave, at which time a piece of paper with a final total arrived, and no itemized list to check. I paid and left.By the time we left the place was packed - I really do not understand it!My impression is that all the serving staff were totally inexperienced and could benefit with some training. There was no sign of a manager or anyone responsible for ensuring people were satisfied. Perhaps the boss or owner should take an interest? I will not be returning for a while.

We visited Thai Connection with a Taste card so got 50% off the food. We had a mixed starter which was lovely, although didn't like the fried crispy sweet noodles, just not to our taste and felt like the sweetness didn't really go with rest of the starters which were very nice.Mains were King prawn dish, had a kick but very good and a beef massamam curry with sticky rice.I would say that overall it was good and the waiting staff were really lovely.I would not say that this is the best Thai restaurant but there was certainly nothing wrong with it.

It's a shame I have to write this review as last time my meal was nice- but have just eaten with my wife and shocked how different it can be, very watery red Thai curry no proper flavour - wife's just as bad.Real shame as Thai friends recommend this place too- no consistency.

I came here for Sunday lunch with a couple of friends, the waiter was pleasant and the food good and reasonably priced. The interior is quite attractive. Would come again.

Went for an early evening Sunday dinner, lovely friendly staff & nice decor. Very fresh and authentic food & I had the chicken curry with "secret" ingredients which was delicious, highly recommend! reasonably priced too.

We often get take away as we live very close. It is always good particularly the salads. My partner lived in Thailand for a while and feels this is best Thai food round here.

Really great food and service. I live on Blatchington road and this place is a hidden gem in a sea of sticky sweet and sour sauce and MSG frozen chicken. Two thumbs up.

I took my friends here for my birthday and I had a great dinner here. The staff were so professional and friendly and the food were nicely decorated and tasty. One of my friends recommended me here before I came as they also had a surprise treat from the house. The atmosphere here is amazing, suitable for romantic couple. Definitely recommend for people who would like authentic Thai food. The place is such a fine dining and I don't understand why a few people are so dramatic about this place in this website.

Been here after read good reviews, and i am wonder where all these people had eaten so far? The food was not only badly presented but also tasted no way near to Thai food (more like re-heated dish).Service practically no - existent and place not so clean (pleasant decorated throughout though). Won't bother coming back here again as not actions were taken by the owner after I presented my discontents to him.

A complete waste of a meal. Tried this place for takeaway as it had a very high review score on another takeaway app. I have absolutely no idea why. The fishcakes were rubbery and oily and generally disgusting, the source which came with them was like sugary water rather than a sweet chilli dip. I had a Thai curry and this one was the worst I have ever eaten. Big lumps of overcooked chicken which disintegrated on impact, huge chunks of undercooked potato and nothing else except a watery source. My wife had the green curry and she said it was bland and disappointing as well. The only things which were okay were the rice and prawn crackers. I never usually contact restaurants to complain about their food as I just think I won't return again in future, but this was so bad and such a waste of money that I called the restaurant straight away. The manager was not available to speak to me so someone else took details of why we were unhappy with the food. I'll be amazed if I get a call back from the manager.

My partner and I enjoyed a great meal here last night. We arrived early on our way to a concert in Brighton, and were the only customers at the time, however, the staff were loverly and the food was just delicious, full of flavour and plenty of it. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough and we shall all go back.

Sunday afternoon March 29th, the Alex-Suze-Thaioff commenced again, feeling blissfully hungover from the previous evenings Chocolate and Whisky cocktail drinking marathon we both knew the only way to feel 100% would be to have a full on Thai meal, once in Hove, the first Thai place choosen was closed, unaware of how many there actually were in Hove we walked up and down in search of Thai sustenance, as we strolled Alex googled for nearby restaurants, as he found the list we stopped to review and decide where to go, I hastily added that we had actually stopped right outside a Thai and we made our way in... dissappointedly we were told that the kitchen had just closed. Still in need of a Thai food fix, Alex rang the Thai Connection and thankfully they took a reservation. Upon arrival it was quiet, that is to our liking though.A tastefully decorated and comfortable restaurant, a good selection of vegetarian meals on 2 menus were available. We were both ravenous by now and was hoping for a bowl of Thai crackers, alas none arrived. The food came fairly quick thankfully, an amazing Pad Thai was beautifully presented and was filled by an enormous selection of tasty vegetables that we just kept feasting on and it never seemed to reduce in size. As norm a Massaman was my choice, once again the chef had added extra cashews as requested and we enjoyed every mouthful. The cocunut rice was plentiful and a delight.The Thai red curry was very pleasant and moorish and as hot as my date. All the dishes were giving that 'tingling on our tongues', sensation, our tastebuds were awakened by this Thai food, accompanied by a cheeky sparkling bottle of Rose.A unique and romantic meal. I have just made a new discovery in Hove. We finished a concert and decided to go for a meal and one of the singers suggested Thai Connection. I was blown away by the food. We started with satay and ribs followed by pad Thai noodles and crispy beef noodles and then to finish off a deep fried banana with rasperry coulis and cream. It was absolutely delicious.I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough and we shall all go back.

Excellent food , service and ambience . The staff were lovely and the food was simply delicious . It felt almost like being in Thailand .

My partner and I enjoyed a great meal here last night. We have always been impressed by the quality of the food here and the service is low key but friendly. I had the vegetarian corn cakes and they were delicious. Normally I find corn cakes tend to stick in your teeth for ages afterwards but not these, they were perfect. Then as a main I had the Tofu Kra Pow which was cooked beautifully and tasted devine. In my opinion it is the best of the veggie dishes.My partner had king prawn tempura which he was impressed with, especially as it was coated in breadcrumbs rather than batter which made it lovely and crispy. Then he had the Chargrilled Seafood Platter which he has had a number of times now and says it is always good.We get takeaway from here on occasion too and it is always to the same high standard as the restaurant.

Visited after recommendation from a friend for an early dinner. Only table in restaurant to begin with (3 others arrived after us). Asked for starters and mains together but brought out seperately leaving us hungry as very slow to clear plates and bring mains. Food was average although my mixed seafood dish was luke warm, but did not inform waiter as felt I would wait another 20 minutes for him to return. After finishing we waited another 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared. Overall a 'quick' meal took almost 2 hours due to lack of/slowness of service. Also music only put on as we were leaving, so atmosphere a little dull. Another table also chose to change their child's nappy at their table whilst we were eating, but no comments were made by staff that this should be done in the toilets. Perhaps this restaurant is better for later sittings as with one member of staff they seemed unable to deliver the service and experience I was expecting. Staff member did seem friendly though but seemed to also lack hospitality experience. Would not return in a hurry although would maybe try a later evening.

We popped in for a takeaway last night following a friend's recommendation. The staff were gentle, kind and helpful and were quite happy to run off to the kitchen and check whether things had gluten in them (the Thai green curry doesn't).The food was lovely and flavourful and even though it was quite hot, the flavours survived and triumphed!

I've been here a few times and it's always nice but considering the wealth of competition around here it could be better. There was plenty of vegetarian choice for me and my starter was delicious but my main course of pad thai noodles and a chick pea dish were really mediocre. The pad thai was quite dry and didn't come with any of the little accompaniments that are usual. Nothing wrong with it but it could be better.

I just cannot help myself going to have my fix of Pad Thai Noodles, So Tasty and cooked by Sit the Thai Chef and owner of Thai Connection.Thanks for the constant quality !!

We was recommend by friends a year ago and since we have been 7 times since and the food has always been spot on.Yes the service is slightly slow but at least the food is cooked fresh and hot .The staff are alway pleasant and friendly and we will be taking 10 friends here next months so that really states how good it's is.You can read negative feed backs from any restaurant here and aboard but it really comes down to individuals customers,some like to moan about small details and majority like to have a nice evening with no rush and good food.Give it a go you will enjoy the food.

Been here before and enjoy the food however service is awful went for a quick bite to eat before going out early evening and after 90mins got our main course 2 groups of people who came in after us and were obviously known by the staff were served quickly .Only 1 person serving and although friendly enough as the restaurent got busier it was obviously not enough .Shame but won't rush back to many good restaurents in the area
