Second visit to this lovely place, we were on our honeymoon and stopped by to have a bite to eat as we were staying locally. I knew what I wanted straight away, the steak pie with potatoes and veg, I had it last time we visited and it is the best steak pie Ive ever tasted, im a fussy eater but it is delicious. Also the lady who served us was very friendly and really down to earth, we had an amazing experience and will defently be back when we visit again next year.

Steak pie was tasty but terrible portions...walked away still feeling hungry, I get that steak is expensive but even the veg and chips were scarce...potatoes cost pennies, really wouldn't hurt to add some more...Politely said the manager that the portion was far too small, he shrugged his shoulders, didn't say anything and then walked away....waste of £10.50 won't be going back.

Steak and ale pies were absolutely stunning, a rich sauce that had us mopping up our plates and it was all we could do not to lick them after. Fish and chips were crisp to perfection, with good quality haddock. All four of us were in stitches and holding onto every word shared by the part owner who made us feel incredibly at home the minute we stepped through the door. Quick service, the barman was friendly, and we left with a rich knowledge of the history of the building and its surroundings. Sounds like there are exciting projects in the pipeline for future accommodation and it can only get better with so much love and care put into the place. Thanks for giving us a wonderful beginning to our holiday!!!

We visited the place on a quiet weekend for a quick lunch before going for a hike, had to wait for 20 minutes for a fun-size portion of soup. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place. At least it was tasty..

Show!!!

Visited over the weekend of 9th/10th June 2017 on a camping trip, with 4 adults and 8 kids. The reason we came was because we had visited the year before and the food and service were excellent. This year, they didn't disappoint, and were really welcoming to everyone, with the kids really enjoying the pool table and dart board. Oh, yes, the food. It was excellent, from the fajitas to the steak pie and burgers, everyone really enjoyed it. When we come back camping to Aberfoyle, we will definitely be back here, for both the food and friendly banter. Loved it.

Lovely bowl of soup and a generous pot of tea were just as needed. Cheerful and friendly, service with lots of smiles, especially when I had to be rescued from the ladies, good job I had my phone. Renovations are taking place and I was a victim of a door in need of adjustments. Pleased I gave everyone in the place something to smile about. Apologies were offered all round, and accepted. Hope to revisit while we in the area and try some more of the menu.

Recently popped in for a quick bite to eat whilst on a day trip with National Holidays. We where greeted by a lovely lady who had a beaming smile and was very friendly. We ordered nachos and soup/Sarnie combo. The lady who served us seemed to make our food behind the scenes and was very prompt.I had cheesy nachos and they where massive with a lovely salsa on the side. Very tasty. My hubby had a cheese and ham toastie and scotch broth. It was very nice too, the soup wasn't overly hot but luckily thats how he likes it.The interior was really quirky with tall book shelves full of nick nacks, signed pictures and memorabilia. I could have spent all day looking at it all. The bar had a really nice vibe and was very accomodating.

We were part of the Hairy Coo tour, departing from Edinburgh and stopped for lunch in Aberfoyle. To be fair there wasn't much choice of restaurants so we chose this place as it was showing football on BT Sport. Food: It was ok, its your typical pub food really. We had a chilli con carne and a fish and chips. It all seems reheated and not fresh, and we feared some stomach aches later but it was fine. I must say the Nachos were a surprising delight for starters but the mains were really just OK. Service: the lady serving us was very nice and showed attention so I cannot complain about that. Price: I'd say not great value. You'd expect prices to be cheap in Aberfoyle, in the middle of Scotland but it seems they know they can cash in on tourists so the prices were closer to London prices. Atmosphere: we were the only ones, so thank god for football on the TV. The restaurant is nicely decorated and charming but the toilets were at a poor standard in my opinion: one was out of service, the other had a leakage problem. Conclusion: I haven't been to the other restaurants in Aberfoyle so can't really comment but depending on what you take here, it can do the trick so not a bad experience after all.

Popped in here on Saturday for a few drinks as coach in was shut for refurb. Followed signs for game room and ended up in someone's back garden. When did find our way in, we found it very pleasant and was greeted by a smiling barmaid and clientele. The games room was amazing and had a top juke box. The only reason for missing star, only two darts and misleading directions. Next time I visit, it will definitely be my first port of call. Have no doubt it will be five star on the next occasion. The sandwiches we had was also very tasty.

A small Bistro in the center of the village which has been created from an old grocers shop which still has the original fixtures inside. It has a limited menu but the food is excellent and is served hot. Next door is a Fish and Chip shop owned by the same family, so anything battered or fried comes from there. Service was quick and there was no rush for you to leave, in fact you could stay and talk for hours if you so wished. There were a couple of tables outside for those who required outside space and even a dogs water bowl (Filled) The normal staff was not there, but her husband who was standing in could not have been more friendly and happy. It was a pleasure to eat in the Bistro.

In Aberfoyle today and popped in here for a baked tattie and panni...... well to be honest we sat outside in the sun. Lovely lunch £14 for the two of us. Very friendly staff quick service and very busy. Its attached to a fish and chip cafe. Which has no fatty smell coming out of it so it was lovely to sit in the sun! Next time we take a drive to Aberfoyle we would stop there again.

Popped in here for tea and coffee with cakes and was disappointed at the steep price and felt ripped off. Staff were friendly enough but for what we got it wasn't good value. We travel a lot and know that in key tourist places you can expect a price hike. Wouldn't like to think tourists are being exploited as its a bit of a closed market in the town as very little competition.

We lunched here in late June not long after the current management took over. While the food was adequate, service was dire and we lost count of the other customers who gave up waiting and walked out. Matters aren't helped when customers aren't served in turn. The proprietress seemed more concerned with making personal calls on her mobile rather than sorting matters. When the staff are incapable of working the till and the boss doesn't intervene, you know you are in trouble. Need to get their act together fast.

With a few global giants nearby this independent knocks them for six in terms of quality and value. Recently reopened, post covid closure and I urge people to support this and other independent businesses, but only if they deserve it as this one clearly does. I had a bacon and a square sausage roll for breakfast and both were lovely. Returned on my last day for another bacon roll and had a couple of takeout rolls for later on the long train ride back home to Birmingham. Nice staff, nice place, deserves support. Recommended.

We have enjoyed visiting The Aizle many times over the past several years for both soup and a toastie or tea/coffee and cake. The staff are always friendly and efficient but the main attraction is the cakes which, although pricey are absolutely delicious. We had visited in May and had two teas and an americano coffee with hot milk and of course the cakes. Unfortunately, when we went there at the weekend, it is now apparently the practice to charge extra for the massive expense and effort involved in steaming a spoonful of milk to have with the coffee which means that a small cup of americano coffee which costs £2.65, presumably with cold milk, now has a surcharge of 75p, making it £3.40. We visit many restaurants and cafes and no-one else makes this additional charge so it really seems like greed. We won't be back.
