The New Happy Palace in Edinburgh, City of

This was my first time using this Chinese as my local was closed, it was a great first experience , to anyone not sure about changing please, you won’t be disappointed using this Chinese and it will now be my new favourite, food was delicious and very fresh tasting, only small critique is maybe the fried rice needs to be more fried as it seemed like boiled but not complaining was still nice.

Food was fine. Delivery was 45mins late (so nearly 2 hours from ordering to delivery). Neither of the two phone numbers or the email address worked

The vegetarian spring rolls contained beef and shrimp. The Delights Sweet and Sour dish was also very disappointing.

usually enjoy everything that I order but tonight the beef chow mein was horrible not sure if changed chef had peppers mushrooms corn bamboo shoots hardly any meat never had all this veg before and I've ordered here for years

Tasty food but delivery was at 20.10, over 45 min late! Restaurant didnt get back to me via text or answered phone calls. Food got dwlivered while I was at their shop to complain.

order said delivered, but it wasn't. tried to phone restaurant but it rang out, then it went straight to voicemail (couldn't leave a message as the voicemail box was full)

This is our regular choice for a Chinese takeaway as the most flavoursome we have found in Edinburgh, however, in our last three orders, items have been paid for and not delivered. Tonight it was my prawn toast, which is highly disappointing as their prawn toast is immense.

Stay 5 minutes away from the shop waited 1 hour and 15 minutes called the shop twice food arrived chips were cold and soggy chicken curry had basically no sauce call the shop back and the guy had no intention of caring shocking service

Food is rotten don’t even think it’s chicken couldn’t eat it only thing I’ve eaten prawn crackers

Normally this place is amazing but 2 and a half hour wait then to send the wrong stuff was very disappointing.

Curry Sauce was very sweet, not a great experience. 1st time used this place , won't be back .

Order from here whenever we are having Chinese food. Consistently very good high quality food. We have a choice of several restaurants in our area, and we have tried most of them but I keep coming back here for a reason. Never had a bad meal from here and will keep ordering from here because I have no reason not to. Fantastic.

Normally, The Happy Palace is a safe pair of hands. That's to say it's either pretty good or unremarkable. Occasionally, though, it has a disaster and the food is far below the usual standard. I don't know if it's a backup chef, or no back up chef, but randomly the Happy Palace is a let down. Those blips are infrequent enough that if I don't want to wait for a delivery and just want to pop in somewhere for a quick single person dinner that I'll pop in. I think those small meals are The Happy Palace's strength too. They also do chips and some Western food. Those alternatives seen pretty popular but I've never tried them. Popping in to The Happy Palace is for pick up only. There's no eat in functionality. The waiting area is big enough for half a dozen people. I wouldn't want to follow a gang of yobs in. Overall, need a quick rice dish or something like that? The Happy Palace will do. [October 24 - Tends to be very swift!]

Been my regular Chinese for the last 5 years and the food is always fresh and tasty. The best Chinese in the North of Edinburgh.

Great take away with friendly and helpful service

Chicken in black bean sauce was ok. Sadly the chicken chow mien went in the bin. Wouldn’t order again.

The food was fresh and tasty, spring rolls seemed handmade and had good amount of veg in them. Fast and friendly delivery and they read and used my order notes. Would order again, thanks.

Best Chinese takeout in the area. Definitely my go-to. Their duck curry is amazing.

Literally the worst king prawn chowmein iv had watery brown sauce with vegetables to pad it out with the 7 prawns..

got a portion of crispy noodles, they looked like they were just taken out the packet, they were so hard I couldn't eat them threw them in the bin.

Dishes VERY salty and every dish drowned in sauce: Fried Rice? Sauce. Chow Mein? Sauce. Service good and portions large, but can't recommend the food, sorry.

Highly recommend this new food place everything’s cooked beautifully hope they don’t let there standards slip like others do I’ve stayed well away from chinease food for a long time because of there slap dash cooking ,then I stumbled upon this new happy palace thought I’d give it a try glad I did 10 stars from me

It was delivered about 30 mins late and one of the items was wrong. When I phoned to organise the correct item, I was offered a free drink with the replacement food as an apology but never received it.

Collected our great priced order from a really friendly guy who made sure it was the right order we were taking away. Nice, hot food: vegetable chow mein, duck with ginger, crispy and light vegetable spring rolls, and fortune cookies that were spot on!

Food arrived an hour late and had an item missing from order. Some of the dishes were luke warm so had to heat in the oven and then the chow mein was ridiculously salty so it was hardly touched. Missing item was delivered almost an hour after the initial delivery but we'd finished eating by then so was now unwanted. First and last time ordering from here.

Fantastic meal as usual. Love the Crispy Shredded Chicken with Honey Chilli Sauce. Nice spicy kick. Their BBQ sauce is lovely too. Everything was grand. Loved it. This is why I always order from them. Cheers New Happy Palace.

I used to live in the same building with them and ocassionaly i would buy some food. I was pretty happy with their food, nothing to complain about really.

Chicken fried rice & prawn toast was burnt they both had a charcoal taste. Lots of weird brown stuff in the rice which totally put me off giving the food to my daughter altogether. There was not 1 spare rib that wasn’t covered in fat it is disgusting. Tried to call back twice tonight regarding a refund for my order as I am appalled but both times i received no answer. I will be taking this further. I have took both pictures and videos.

Repeatedly good food. Occasionally it takes a little longer, and the noodles are too greasy for me (but lots of meat in them), but all other dishes Iv tried have been yum! My go-to take out

Outstanding, best Chinese I’ve had

We have been going here for years. I think the chef has changed or the whole establishment has changed hands as the food is now terrible. Terrible, as in, the worst Chinese I’ve ever had in my life. We received undercooked boiled rice instead of fried and the main courses were congealed, extremely salty and just inedible. It tasted as bad as it looked. Threw the lot in the bin. Such a waste. Avoid

Food was ordered at 7:40pm. At 9pm called restaurant to ask if food was on the way and I was told the driver left. 9:20pm the food arrives, said to driver it better be hot and he said it was as he just left. Clearly he didn’t. Food was Luke warm. Won’t waste my money again.

Had a bit of an issue with one of the items ordered but the restaurant handled it very well and dealt with it admirably. Food was great and would order again. 👍

Chow mein but not as usually served. Chunks of chicken and thick noodles with hardly any beansprouts etc. Wasn't keen on the sauce either.

I deliberately didn’t order any food with meat in it. I ordered some chips and instead was sent a box of chicken bits. Very disappointing.

Not nice at all sorry, absolutely tasteless and unfortunately went in the bin. 1st and last time using this place. Curry sauce luke warm and watery, chicken chow mein tasteless and overcooked, shredded beef and shredded chicken in honey chilli sauce was revolting. Very dissatisfied and let down badly.

I haven't received my food yet. I've been waiting over a hour. It says ''enjoy your food'' below the estimated delivery time, but our food hasn't arrived.

Food was amazing only thing let it down was too many onions in the curry.

Simply a fantastic Chinese takeaway, after going here for years and it being great I think new owners have taken over and the food now is out of this world. I’ve never had a bad takeaway from this places. Customer for life.
