Wow what a find. Great pub that sells proper homemade food and very generous portions. I had the Cajun chicken that was simply stunning and my partner had the brown cow pie. We are not local, but felt really welcomed. Well worth a visit.

Sunday roast was a huge disappointment, consisted of boiled cabbage, smash, overcooked beef, microwaved soggy frozen Yorkshire pudding, frozen roast potatoes that were still uncooked and thick lumpy gravy. Not going back, would not recommend at all.

100/10 Food! I Had The Nevison Burger (beef) And It Was SUPERB!! As Soon As The Rich Flavour Hit My Mouth It Was Love At First Bite! I've Been Here Many Times The Service Has Always Been Exceptional! And The Food Has Only Gotten Better! Any Review That Puts This Brilliant Pub To Shame Is Utter Nonsense. This Is A Gem. Ty 4 Reading This Aswell

I had my birthday celebration here, 8 adults and 2 children. It was everyone's first visit and we chose it because of the reviews, it was roughly a half way meeting point, and it provided vegan options. We weren't disappointed, everything was great especially the service. Nothing was too much trouble and they made my birthday very special. Thanks again to all at the Nevison xxx

Wonderful pub after a nice walk to visit. It’s very nice and cool inside and has a nice outside seating area for family’s and kids to run around enjoying the nice weather. I didn’t sample the food but I can tell you that I did sample the alcoholic beverages and they was of a high standard

Great cosy pub, especially if you're vegan. 2 of our party are strict vegans and we always struggle to find somewhere that not only accommodates their dietary requirements but has a few choices and this place came up. They also commented that it was the best food they'd had in a while so testament to the staff/chef/owner on the vegan options and quality. Overall, everyone enjoyed the meal and the gardens provided somewhere for the little ones to run around.

Hate to score it low, but I came because of great reviews and am really disappointed. The bar maid/ waitress/ manager single handedly impressed massively. Bright, friendly and helpful. But everything else was really poor. Tables are filthy, chairs felt and smelt damp, flies everywhere and cobwebs in a fireplace housing a broken log burner. Really poor, unfinished, cheap decor/ decoration everywhere. So much needs doing. Sorry 😔

A lovely homely atmosphere with excellent service from the staff, food was excellent and we were served realy quickly. Had the cow pie, came served with home made chips and chunky carrots and cabbage, gravy was awsome, honestly I can't say enough good stuff about the Nevison, great portion size and a lovely atmospheric environment 😋

Popped in for lunch with a friend and had high hopes after looking at the menu which was great. Ordered our food and it came quickly, starters were tasty. I ordered the stilton steak for mains and unfortunately it came very overcooked, however the waitress was pleasant when I told her I had and issue a replacement was brought.

Great local pub and decent food. Beer garden is absolutely amazing on a sunny day!

I enjoyed this pub tonight, passing through on a Narrowboat. Dog friendly, a good variety of food at a reasonable price. Outdoor space. Would be better with a couple of cask ales.

It's a pleasure to find local non chain pub with good hearty food, generous portions ( also smaller portions available for less hungry 😋) and reasonable pricing. Menu wise, pleanty options for vegetarians. BTW, fish is NOT a vegetarian meal, still bleeds.

A great little authentic Country pub that is tucked in off the road. Food was great, everyone at our table enjoyed the food. Service was exceptional by the lovely young waitress. She was super efficient and attentive. Thank you for the great food and service.

Excellence service delicious freshly prepared food, comfortable surroundings well deserved five stars.

Booked a table for 8 at 5.00 bank holiday Monday to celebrate 60th birthday. Wasn't told at the time of booking the kitchen would be closing at 5.00. Was asked to send list of meals before hand, now we know why. It was so they could plate up beforehand and keep warm in the oven. Had to ask for the sticky table to be wiped. 3/4 the way through starters was asked could they bring the mains out as the kitchen was closed and they were waiting to go home. Didn't even get offered desserts. Felt like eat up please and go home. Why take the booking in the first place, why not offer us a 4.00 table. Won't be going again.

We visited without booking. Had the cow pie with chips and gravy. It was probably one of the best pies i have had. So much filling! Nice flaky chunks of beef and the pastry was great. Chips were also really nice. Would recommend.

Always pop in here after a walk along the canal. It always needs decluttering and cleaning. Food is good when we have it. Would eat more often if the environment was cleaner.

Great food generius portions. Lovely home made chips the steaks are too die for. Friendly atmosphere around the pub However the pub is filthy the pictures are all wonky the management make excuses ongoing work for the clutter and mess it’s been like this for years! A cleaner would make the place look outstanding. The toilets are so dark and even the toilet seats are wonky: this stuff should be sorted out before customers enter the pub. The car park and garden is a mess you don’t get that in other pubs everything is in order. Shame really as you can’t knock the food

I had the sirloin with pepper mushrooms and my partner and daughter both had the nevi burger, absolutely delicious food. Even the fussy teenager enjoyed her burger and said it was the best she’s ever had so it must have been good!!

Lovely peaceful meal with my dad shortly after I’d finished work. It’s my first time here and I’ll certainly be eating and drinking here again. My dad had the spaghetti and meatballs & I had the 10oz sirloin steak. Kudos to the chef and lovely bar staff who served us.

Service and food was excellent, although busy the atmosphere felt calm and restful. Roast of the day was plentiful and minted Lamb Shank was cooked to perfection where the meat slide off the bone. We go out of our way to visit this pub as we know we will have a wonderful meal here.

What a hidden gem this place is , sat in yesterday and had a meal that was so amazing I can't wait to go back . Staff were friendly and inviting. Cheap food that tastes like a big hug.

Been here for a quick lunch with my family and dog after a quick look on google. The place is very cosy and the staff was very friendly and tried they r best to looking after us. We ve ordered sirloin baguette,fish and chips and fish finger. After a long wait, unfortunately the food was defitenely not great at all:chips and the fish were way too soggy and the baguette was more cold then warm. The worst point was the level of cleaning. We been seated on a sticky and dusty table,the place was not looked after at all: cobwebs on lamps,dirty floor,dirty cutlery,bad painted walls,dirty toilet,aldi bags full of something in the fireplace. What a shame.. I definitely won t come back.

Good home cooked food, good beer and excellent service.

Family up from the south so we introduced them to some good northern hospitality. We can only manage a main meal as they are so large and we all had something different and all enjoyed. The visitors were delighted with the quality and value for money and the friendly staff, happy to accommodate any tweaks to menu choices. We've been several times and will come again. I could happily work my way through the menu, everything is superb.

Called today after a friend recommended it to us, can't believe we've never been before. Amazing food, great service. We'll definitely be back.

First time visit to the Nevison. We called in quite early (4:30pm) and the pub wasn’t that busy. We were shown to our table and we looked at the menu which was packed with all manner of meals from snacks to large substantial meals. We ordered our food and drinks and it arrived about ten minutes later. My wife ordered steak pudding, home cooked chips, marrowfat peas and gravy, I had chicken, ham, black pudding in a Stilton sauce with home cooked chips and the vegetables of the day. The portions were not small and the food was well prepared and very tasty. The chunks of meat in the steak pudding were big and very little fat. Overall we were both very impressed with the food and the service. We can’t comment on atmosphere because it wasn’t that busy. We will definitely be returning to try some of the other dishes on their comprehensive menu.

Absolutely appalled, came here for food with my family for my cousins birthday. Asked for our steaks too be rare. It arrived and was pretty much weldone. The guy that was serving us found it hallarious to lift his leg up and fart (disgraceful) Toilets where blocked all we could smell was sweage! All our food was cold and was sent back. Will never come again. We wasn't even offered a refund. Do not eat here.

Chose this pub out of the blue as a meeting point for friends from Yorkshire & Lancashire to have lunch. What a find! A warm greeting on our arrival followed by attentive service, an excellent choice of food that turned out to be superb and reasonably priced provided by friendly but discreet staff. AMAZING!

Kind helpful staff, food was really good! I had the nicest blue cheese and mushroom sauce here.

Food ok, Yorkshire puffing soggy aunt Bessie’s. friendly staff. No disabled toilets & toilets felt grotty. It was a shame about the lack of disabled facilities so unfortunately wouldn’t return

Met family at the pub for lunch, took our dogs too. Food was plentiful, tasty and well presented. The staff were very attentive, the waitress bought our dogs little food trays containing roast turkey and dog biscuits, lovely touch. The food was good value for money, would definitely recommend.

Absolutely fantastic, drove by on a drop in and was very impressed with the quaint local pub feel with amazing food!

Popped in for a quick drink on our way back from the local tip. I've never been in before, so we'd thought we would give it a go. We did end up ordering a few starters as we were a little hungry. The main meals that were conung out from the kitchen looked amazing. Definitely will be back to try them.

Pretty good food at a very reasonable price, think pre-covid prices! But the place is getting pretty run down, could really do with a facelift!

This is one of the best pubs I’ve been to in years. They really know what customer service means. The woman that served us was friendly and patient and the cook was lovely, she came out of the kitchen to chat to us when we were enquiring about making adjustments to some of the menu items we were ordering. One of our party had an allergy and she was so helpful to make sure he got a good meal that he felt safe to eat. I have already recommended this pub and will continue to do so. The portions are generous and the ingredients are good quality. There is something on the menu for all tastes and appetites.

Visited with my disabled daughter who has multiple complex needs. The staff literally went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. 10 out of 10. Thank you for making us feel included. Food was hot and tasty and reasobably priced. Will definitely recommend and return.

Absolutely the best pasta I've ever had, beats an Italian restaurant by miles! The staff are welcoming, warm and friendly nothing too much trouble! Highly recommended 5 🌟

We were going past and decided to try the place, as I've heard that food was nice there. Walked in to empty place (maybe 3 tables occupied) to be told by staff that they are booked up. We looked around with confusion... eventually, one of the staff girls decided to sit us down. Next to her son, who was repeatedly throwing a drink bottle up for it to land on table upright, making a terrible noise. After 10 minutes of that and watching the staff making their own orders for family dinners, and ignoring us totally (not even offered a drink), We stood up and walked out.

Lived locally for years and never visited - food was gorge & good value for money! Welcome from red head man needs some work.. no smile or welcome really. The weird marrowfat peas esp not a fan (prison peas!) garden/mushy peas with meals like pies/fish & chips would be much better. Early cut off time for food would restrict us visiting more often :( Look forward to going back at some stage though :)

possibly one of if not the best pub lunches I’ve had in a long long time. I was lucky enough to get a table for three on an Saturday afternoon walk in but it was challenge cup day and Leigh were their, otherwise I’d book it in so your comfy. They have a vegan , vegetarian and normal menu, everything on the menu was tasty and filling , props to the chefs in the back because the smell hits you when you get out of the your car and you know that it’s gonna be top quality gear. I wanted to try everything on the menu after eating what I ordered, service was bespoke as well the lovely red headed gentlemen behind the bar was a gent and the lady serving with Leopard outfit was a darling who made us feel at home and because some orders were vegan or vegetarian she made sure it was all correct even with allergies. Prices are ridiculous for the quality and portions.

Always brilliant here and the staff are really friendly. What Pubs should be :-) Returned today for Daughters 19th Birthday celebration and been really well catered for. Ordered off menu 2 x Mixed Grill and other dishes for party of 6 and all are fully satisfied and happily filled. As always would heartily recommend this venue. If going at weekend then booking for this popular venue a must

Amazing service from Nieve and Stacy today, me and my husband travelled from Wigan as we have heard such good things about the food. What can I say .. it did not disappoint. Home cooked food and very generous portions too. The front of house team are very welcoming and engage with you in conversation. A rarity in hospitality these days. Thank you to you both and keep up the great work.

Luckily we did not eat here. Stopped off to have a drink and check out the food menu . I ordered 2 drinks and we took them to the beer garden . After drinking from my glass I noticed how filthy both our glasses were . Looking around the place it did look a bit untidy and in need of some TLC. Checked 'scores on the doors' and found a food hygiene score of 2 we left the drinks and left the building...never to return. I do have standards and they definitely weren't met at The Nevison Country Inn.

Don't judge a book by the cover! Amazing food. Proper home cooked with nice portions. Children's meals are huge! Chocolate Orange cake is awesome! Would 100% recommend.

Great value for money and located for handy access for Leigh Sports Village and Pennington Flash. A few parking spaces right outside but also a decent sized car park at the back. A cracking menu of traditional pub fare with a modern twist. The vegetarian and vegan menu is vast and varied and there’s children sized portions too so everyone is catered for. This place is perfect for families, adult groups, romantic couples and anyone who wants great value, great service and massive portions. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

First time visitor ..Monday lunchtime..fairly busy...food great quality..had the brown cow pie..very tasty...minor criticism..when asking for coffee after lunch only had limited instant coffee sachet...need to invest in a decent coffee machine!

Extensive menu for all tastes including gluten free. Food well presented and cooked to perfection and served pleasantly in an acceptable time.

What a dump. Outside area is untidy. Half empty fountain kind of thing, mops buckets. Tired tables and chairs. Went inside as it was getting a bit chilly. Dark & dingy, dirty sticky tables. Wouldn't eat there if you paid me. Needs some serious money spending on it. Could be a goldmine with all the new houses and the only pub in the vicinity. Only 8 people in on a Sunday speaks volumes.
