Amazing decor and scenery. Had a fabulous 3 course meal with friends. Canapés in the cocktail bar first and finished with coffee and petit fours. All dishes were really lovely and so nicely presented

We went for a ‘Tea’ costing £55 each and dressed accordingly as requested. We were shown to our table by an attractive young lady in what appeared to be tight jeans . The table was set with a plain white cloth and white crockery which can be found everywhere. The table was not large enough to take individual teapots for the various teas offered. The scones were put on the window seat. The table was set with a knife and fork. Not a cake fork! The equivalent of one round of cheap finger sandwiches, one cucumber, one egg, one ham one Salmon. Cakes, one was a chocolate profiterole. We were given one small plate for everything, this is not good enough. This was not what I expected for a special Art Deco Tea costing £55.

Open to those who come across from the mainland via sand (at low tide) or the sea tractor it provides a nice stopping point for a drink for those walking around the island or enjoying the beach. I cannot comment on the food as we bdid not eat there. Note that if you want to drink outside they will be served in plastic glasses for which there is a £2 returnable deposit.

We ate breakfast in the restaurant and can honestly say it was outstanding. The food was delicious and the standard of presentation and service was second to none. Dinner in the evening was amazing fine dining prepared by wonderful chefs who really know how to please their guests. A beautiful experience

Absolutely first class - the highlight being a local lobster. The tables are nicely spaced and a size that means you are not squashed in... all very nice

A perfect place to relax with amazing fresh meal to enjoy, we chose to sit and enjoy the view outside. Staff you can not fault as they work with Covid restrictions and very helpful whilst we all get used to the rules. So you park at pay and display and enjoy wonder on to lovely beach where we spent loads of time before walking across the sand to the island. You walk up slope and then have to wait to be seated. Lots people after us had to wait but people would queue and after our meal and drinks you can see why!!! Will be back for more the beach and food, only issue I can see is due to new rules this means they have reduced tables so try aim to go when it’s quiet.

As part of a birthday celebration, which involved a stay at the Burgh Island Hotel, my family and I had a lovely afternoon tea in the hotel's Netlefold restaurant. We though it was a really nice take on the traditional afternoon tea. Some quite adventurous sandwiches and delicious cakes. I managed to polish off my share, but my wife and daughter fell at the last hurdle and had to leave a scone untouched, so I think the portions sizes were pretty good. We were seated in the Captains Cabin, which was salvaged from HMS Ganges some time in the 1930s and added to the hotel. A quirky, but very comfortable setting, with views across the bay. The main restaurant is very bright and airy and also has a terrace which is very popular. Well worth a visit, just for the location alone, but the afternoon tea and cocktails top it off nicely.

What a great find, the tapas was fantastic! We ordered 3 vegetarian dishes each and that was plenty to share between us. We have a very good tapas restaurant where we live, so it was interesting to compare. There was a good mix of dishes we recognised and ones that were completely new to us. And who knew that cabbage could be so amazing as a tapas dish (Burnt Hisbi Cabbage)? It was a fabulous flavoursome meal from first bite to last!

So I've been compelled to update my review of this quaint little pub. We have been coming here multiple times a year for the last 6 years. It is always the highlight of our trip and the food is the gold standard of great pub food. Our latest trip here was nothing short of that. With the french food magician (Dom) injured and out of action, the food was still to his high standard (so a huge congratulations to the kitchen staff). Even though they were understaffed they made us feel welcome and any problems were quickly resolved, with apologies and an amazing sense of humour. Thanks Adam for being a great barman! Of course we will be back in a few months for a next trip down here.

I always visit the River Shack whenever I'm in the Devon area. Delicious food, friendly service & fabulous views. My wife always enjoys the yummy soups at lunch & I have enjoyed an excellent seafood spaghetti. Highly recommend, well worth a visit!

Me and my 8 year old stopped for a quick coffee today. My 8 year old pointed out - the Cafe is actually called Man-get-out (an adult brain doesn't think like that!) Absolutely no complaints with the service or coffee. Highly recommended x 👌
