Stopped by for a set price meal on Friday lunchtime. We sat in the courtyard, an oasis of calm just moments from the very busy streets of Dartmouth on Regatta weekend. Reserving a table is highly recommended which can easily be done by messaging the proprietor. To start we chose the asparagus and poached egg along with the watermelon Caprese salad, both were light and delicious and perfectly dressed. For the main we had the crab and lobster tortellini and the beef ravioli, these were fabulous as well. We finished with affogato and the strawberry and melon salad. Dartmouth benefits from a good number of excellent restaurants and this little gem is a fabulous addition offering something a little different. Great people, great Italian cooking and a really charming location.

Stuffy, over priced, over rated. Not child friendly

We had the set lunch, Amalfi just started this a few days ago and it was fantastic. Very hospitable host and great food.

My wife and I chose to dine at Amalfi because of the excellent reviews. We were really looking forward to the meal having booked a couple of weeks in advance. Our expectations were high. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The food was fresh but unfortunately a little under whelming. We both had pasta dishes which cost £22 each. For the price we were expecting so much more. In total our bill came to over £60 for 2 mains, a garlic bread, a tonic water and non alcoholic beer. We are happy to pay high prices but expect the food to reflect the price.

Truly fantastic. Do not leave Dartmouth before trying this place. Mike and Phoebe have turned this place into a gem, an absolute find in Dartmouth. Fresh local produce, cooked to perfection in the perfect ambience. Just loved it. Jo, is amazing at providing the perfect balance of attentive, helpful and knowledgable about each of the dishes. Will always come here when in Dartmouth. Thank you.

What a lovely meal and the Red wine suggested was a perfect match for our meal

Had fantastic meal in this classy restaurant tucked away on a nice quiet street in Dartmouth. We had a bread and olive sharer starter and followed that with the Ragu pappardelle and the salmon and mascarpone tortellini. Everything was beautifully cooked and presented. I had to have the brownie to finish which was exceptional. And the wine we drank complemented the food very well.

A beautiful restaurant, with a lovely ambience. The service was great, both ladies were very attentive. Unfortunately the food let it down a little. The beef Ragu lacked the slow cooked beef shin that was stated on the menu. The flavours were quite nice, but I wasn't blown away. We came here due to the reviews and loving Italian food. I don't think the food was reflected in the price and we came away a little disappointed.

Really really impressed with this delightful little restaurant, service and food just absolutely excellent. They were really accommodating with me and my dog! The food was so fresh and generally absolutely excellent! And the staff and service were so friendly and hospitable!! Would definitely visit again. Highly recommended

Wow, amazing little place We were a party of 7 and had the little side room, maybe the original part of the tea rooms. Initially when we got there we sat in the little courtyard having drink before we sat down for dinner. Our service was personal, and great. The food was sublime, lush and really well presented and tasted divine. The menu really catered for everyone in the party being a mixture of meat and vegetarians. It was so nice that the owners came to chat, makes you feel so welcome. We throughly enjoyed eating hear and would definitely recommend this place. I would book in advance.

We found this gem of a place on our week in Dartmouth. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. It is lovely to see an owner operated Restaurant & Bar like this as nothing is ever too much trouble! I highly recommend and will definitely be back.

A returning visit for us and what a delight! Not only an expenditure on their area but their menu too, which did not disappoint! We had the beef ragu, rich in flavour with every mouthful and the spaghetti aglio; Wholeheartedly, better than any dish in our latest trip to Italy - How wonderful! Best Resturant in Dartmouth hands down, can’t wait to return!

Lovely intimate restaurant, really great service, all staff were friendly and attentive, including Mike the owner. The food was incredible and desserts were delicious!

My wife and I visited Amalfi Kitchen along with our friends on 10th May. We had booked several weeks earlier as part of a planned holiday in the hope of finding a good italian restaurant (we're not fans of fast food chains). What a truly wonderful discovery this place was. It's a small establishment with a lovely courtyard frontage. The restaurant is very intimate and relaxing, and the team are very welcoming (including Cleo!) The food is obviously prepared with great passion, which could be tasted with every mouthful. I can't eat cheese and when I explained this I was told "no problem, we can adapt anything on the menu to suit your needs". We started with breads and assorted dips and oils, for the main course 2 of us had the crab & lobster tortellini and the other 2 had the mushroom carbonara - homemade pasta and fresh ingredients - this was simply outstanding, and the wine selection here is chosen well to compliment the menu. The desserts leave you with a difficult choice as they're all excellent. We enjoyed the evening so much that we booked a return visit on the following Monday. Our intention here was to have the same as our first night (it was that good), but we were persuaded to try the beef shin ravioli (again without the cheese for me!) All 4 us chose this dish - and we thought Friday nights meal could not be bettered - how wrong we were. The evening was a wonderful culinary delight and it was nice just to be sitting there finishing off our wine and chatting with other guests at the tables around us. There was no sense of being rushed and it just felt like a little piece of Italy had been dropped into the centre of Dartmouth. Food was absolutely divine, atmosphere was cosy but sophisticated. Service was intimate and we felt very well cared for, especially when I requested a few changes to my starter, which they were more than happy to accommodate and came out to check on me! We didn’t feel rushed to finish our food, truly was a lovely dining experience.

Came here as a group of seven, we were given a pre order menu earlier in the week and it was very easy to organise. Our food was served promptly (but not too promptly!) And was all delicious. All the staff were incredibly smiley and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to Mike and the rest of the team for being so welcoming. PS. Cleo was also very sweet.

We had a first rate meal at Amalfi last night. Each course was beautifully presented and freshly cooked so absolutely delicious. The excellent waitresses were very attentive and great fun. It’s dog friendly too! Just wish we had a dog to take!

Beautiful food, a wonderful space and fantastic hosts! On a very brief, winter, weekend trip to Dartmouth, we visited Amalfi for an impromptu dinner on a Sunday evening. Long story short the food and drink is fantastic, the lovely, cosy space is welcoming and the company even better. Mike, Phoebe and Cleo have built a little gem in a beautiful place and anyone visiting the area should definitely visit, whether it’s for food, drinks or both you won’t be disappointed! Had the most amazing evening at Amalfi Kitchen last night! I wish I took more photos, but I was so wrapped up in the amazing atmosphere and service to remember to get my phone out. The menu has a variety of options both veggie, meat and fish. I wanted to try it all and it felt like Sophie’s Choice when trying to decide between a couple of dishes; however, we then decided we’ll have to come back later in the week to try the rest of the menu! We started with Olives and baked Camembert, which was just incredible! Then I had a mushroom spaghetti and my husband had the local venison salami pizza. Incredible!!! I would be remiss not to mention Cleo, she is employee of the month! As the best four legged chief customer relations officer, it’s always delightful to be greeted by her! If you’re in Dartmouth or planning to visit you MUST add Amalfi Kitchen to your list.

Visited this lovely restaurant to celebrate my Dad's special birthday and it was wonderful! Great menu of gorgeous Italian delights, great wine list and dog friendly. Well worth a visit for dinner or an evening drink in their courtyard (where hot water bottles and blankets are provided if the Devon weather isn't quite giving Italian vibes!)

Fantastic food made even better by a great team. Visited Dartmouth for two nights and visited twice - once for dinner and again just for drinks in their lovely courtyard. Mike and Phoebe are so welcoming and great chefs to boot. If we lived in Dartmouth this would definitely become our 'third place'.

Phoebe, Mike and Eve are unbelievable hosts for this perfect small scale restaurant. It’s clear from the menu alone this is a thought out well tested menu from wine through to the small but concise food menu. Looking at the food menu as an amateur foodie it is clear every element has been well tested and tried with every sense in mind. I had the beef shin tortelloni whiich is tender and high quality. One minor minor consideration is an increase in red wine volume in the sauce but otherwise everything is unfaultable. Considering every food taste whether vegetarian/vegan, seafood or meat it is clear the menu is well tried and suited. This authentic Italian restaurant in Dartmouth is a credit to the huge gap in the market for a high quality Italian restaurant. With an impeccable menu and incredible customer service and atmosphere i cannot discredit my experience here. Not only is every staff member a credit to the venture but also Cleo the resident dog is a beautiful addition. I could not recommend more and am incredibly proud and intrigued to see what is next for this talented team.

My partner and I visited amalfi kitchen last night for dinner and it was just fantastic. We started off in the bar area for some drinks and then moved into the restaurant for our food. The warmth welcome from phoebe and Mike was superb and continued throughout the evening. The atmosphere was great; an array of music playing in the background, the sensational smells blowing through from the kitchen and a real authentic vibe which often made you feel that you really were on the amalfi coast. The service we received from the waitress was delightful - Not too much and not too less ! Usually I am quite a fussy eater but there was such a range of opportunity for me on the menu. I had the pea tortellini and my partner had the pizza and there wasn’t a crumb to spare. What a fantastic little gem, secluded in the streets of Dartmouth - I couldn’t recommend enough.

Visited Dartmouth for a short break and on the first night decided on Amalfi as they were one of the few places open on a Sunday evening. Honestly, the mushroom and truffle oil pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had. My wife had the smoky chorizo pasta, which was equally great. Desserts were lovely too - we can recommend the chocolate mousse! What made the evening memorable was the cosy vibe and the friendly staff. The owner came out and spoke to all of the customers towards the end of the evening asking how everyone's meal was, which was a lovely touch. We will be back!

This is such a brilliant addition to dining out in Dartmouth. Lovely cosy atmosphere, excellent service and friendly staff and the food was exquisite. We had the lobster and crab tortellini. The pasta was obviously homemade and cooked to perfection, the filling was a taste explosion with individual flavours detectable in each exquisite mouthful. This was followed by an affogato with pistachio ice cream - amazing! I will be letting everyone know about this wonderful little restaurant

We went here without a booking on a work trip and during dinner peak time. Sadly, not many places to eat in this beautiful part of the country. As we walked around, this came up on a side road looking very unassuming. We hesitantly went it as it looked like it lacked atmosphere or winding down. The young lady who greeted us was very lovely and was kind enough to see we looked hungry having worked all day. She said they are fully booked but thinks there’s a table that’s about to be free in 15 minutes. So she sat us down and we realised what you see on the street is the small bar waiting area. Anyway, she took our drink order and I had the Pimms summer cocktail which turned out to be excellent with all the summer fruits. When we started looking at the menu, they were straightforward unfussy with not a lot of choice —- but we appreciate this because it means fresh local produce. I ordered pasta stuffed with crab with some cheese on top. Delicious indeed and my other half had a very tasty freshly baked pizza with a side of garlic bruschetta. This small but confident place is just what you need for a nice and well priced dinner when in town. We ate in a nearby town who’s ubiquitous as it’s hotel partner and we paid more for food that’s frozen and it tasted of 90’s menu. This one was quality through and through. To think one of our favourite destination in the world is Amalfi, it’s namesake restaurant in Dartmouth is also a class of its own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

A wonderful little gem in the heart of Dartmouth. Everything was just perfect. Mike, Phoebe and all the staff went out of their way to make the evening really special. Friendly atmosphere and super cute courtyard where we were able to have drinks before being seated in the restaurant. Really tasty tortellini and authenticate pizza cooked to perfection. Great choice of wine and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!

What a treat. We were delighted when Amalfi Kitchen had space for us to eat, having heard such wonderful things about their venue. The menu was simply delicious, perfectly capturing a Mediterranean feel. They had small plates, bruschetta, gorgeous hand made pizzas and amazing pasta dishes. High quality local ingredients at a very good price. The wine was very impressive too with a great selection of Italian, French and local award winning wines. Owners Mike and Phoebe were so welcoming, as were all staff. After the meal we were made to feel at home and very relaxed in their open courtyard which was lovely...coffee was tasty. 5 stars isn't enough :)

This was a great little find in the streets of Dartmouth. The service was excellent with the head chef coming to our table to understand our daughter’s dietary requirements and then modifying a dish from the menu just for her. The atmosphere was pleasant and friendly. The food was simple but incredible and the price reasonable. The beer and wine excellent, even the alcohol free beer which I ordered accidentally and drank not realising much to the hilarity of my family when I found out! Definitely would recommend this place.

Honestly, the best restaurant/bar in Dartmouth. Service is impeccable, food absolutely delicious (Phoebe is a queen), and so easy and comfortable to sit for hours enjoying the wine hehe. Such a lovely atmosphere and vibe. Will definitely be returning very soon x

Managed to finally get around to having food at the new Amalfi last night and it did not disappoint! Some of the most friendly and lovely staff I have come across. The restaurant at the back was a lovely surprise, very relaxed and peaceful place to have our meal, plus courtyard is a great place for drinks after. I highly recommend the mushroom bruschetta and as a fan of thin crust pizza's, theirs was excellent, I recommend the amalfi Pizza, my partner says I have to also mention the chocolate mousse was to die for. We will be back soon.

Straight into our top 3 restaurants in Dartmouth!! We just had the most superb meal at Amalfi. The food is extremely high quality and it’s matched by the warm welcome and exceptional service. For a restaurant that’s only been running for 3 months it’s run like a veteran. From the prawn caprese all the way to the espresso was top tier. Congratulations guys - a slice of Italy in Darty

This restaurant is everything. Atmosphere, interior, food, drinks, service, location. You feel so welcome and everyone is so genuine. Food is beyond gorgeous. I highly recommend this gem.

We spent a lovely few hours here sat in the pretty courtyard whilst dining on delicious bruschetta and pizza. We were really grateful to be squeezed in at the last minute, knowing that they were pretty busy. Really friendly service and a lovely relaxing atmosphere. A great meeting place so can’t wait to go back with friends.

5 stars isn’t enough to express how great the food and service is at Amalfi. Phoebes food was a 10/10 and Mikes ability to serve a busy restaurant and still give a personable service is a rare and appreciated trait. They were able to cater to a vegan diet with very minimal warning with grace and style. Honestly worth visiting Dartmouth just to come back here!

Just popped in for a quick drink, but wow. Just wow. Very friendly, made us feel so welcome and special. Wish we could have stayed for dinner but had a reservation elsewhere which wasn’t as good.

Had a lovley lunch here whilst visiting family in the area for the Coronation weekend. Wonderful owners and the pizza pockets are delicious. Will definitely visit again once back in the summer!

Cenamos allí una noche de sábado. El restaurante tenía un ambiente agradable con una mezcla de edades y una iluminación agradable y el entorno parecía limpio y ordenado. Sin embargo, el camarero fue muy informal y casi indiferente cuando le dijimos a uno de nuestro grupo tenía una amenaza a la vida alérgia. Pedimos una lista de ingredientes o alimentos que indica qué hoja contenía alergenos potenciales y dijo que no tenían uno, pero debe estar bien ya que no había frutos secos en la cocina. Dijo que volvería con el chef y regresar diciendo que debería estar bien.

Nos dejó sin reserva en la oportunidad conseguiríamos una mesa, y tuvimos suerte de conseguir uno, teniendo en cuenta que era semana a mitad del semestre al final de Dartmouth festival de comida. Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra toda la noche el servicio era amable, la comida era adorable (queso de cabra y conserva de higo muy bonitas) y arranque de un buen vino de calidad combinado para darnos una noche realmente agradable (buena música de fondo). Dos de tres platos y una botella de vino que pagamos £63 por estándar dartmouth está nada mal, y nos alegraría recomiendo este restaurante. La única crítica que hubiera re el servicio es que hubiera estado bien que hubieran ofrecido parmesano y pimienta negra con mi pasta, por supuesto, en vez de tener que esperar para el personal aviso yo tratando de pedir que, por lo demás estaba bien, y en la justicia, estaban muy ocupados.

Four of us dined for under £90 including drinks, we have paid more for poorer quality. Ambience is just right and the staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. A good sign is the popularity with the locals.

Nice atmosphere, good service and reasonable prices. Wasn't too impressed with the portions though - Spaghetti Bolognese as there was not a lot of sauce (but maybe that's the authentic way). But very tasty and worth a try.

Had a couple of pizzas on Monday night, and they were okay, nothing special. The premises is nice, clean and smartly decorated, staff pleasant and helpful and the drinks were really good, lovely glass of prosecco, but in the end it is about the quality of the food. Seemed reasonably good value and we would give it another go in the future.

As Dartmouth is well know for it's food, sea food and a lovely place to visit, an Italian restaurant should do very well. This lacked any flare, was mediocre in presentation and somewhat disappointing. I won't be rushing back.

Después de caminar por la ciudad de decidir dónde ir elegimos cocina mamas. La primera impresión fue buena, había un ambiente agradable, el personal era amable y el menú parecía estar bien. Pedimos calzone y el tortellini de espárragos. Por desgracia, cuando llegamos fue la pasta cruda, así que grueso y enviarlo. En vez pedí el crab linguini, que era bonito, pero podría haber tenido más aderezos. El calzone era precioso, lleno hasta los topes, así que es una buena opción. Paga la factura era lento y finalmente tuvimos que subir hasta llegar a la su atención. Bien, pero probablemente no volvería otra vez!

Difícil poner mi dedo sobre por qué fue una experiencia tan maravillosa. El tinto de la casa por sólo £16 una botella. Mi calamar entrante fue el más tierno que he probado. Mi esposa tenía una remolacha rissotio que le encantó tuve un principal de pizza. La música era relajado y el servicio era bueno. Todo el mundo alrededor de nosotros parecía disfrutar su noche también. No Ir directamente como menú un poco limitado, pero conozco a otros reservado una noche regreso en la noche. Se lo recomiendo sin dudarlo.

This is the best meal I've had for ages, it was bursting with flavour, extremely fresh and hot. We had the olives to start, bresaola, the calamari, pizzas and fries followed by gelato. All washed down with Moreti beer and a carafe of rose. Perfect!

We visited on a 'Pizza Night', which meant they were serving only.There was a good choice of toppings and they were really good and tasty, well served and priced.

Just called into a busy Mamas Kitchen without a booking and they found us a table straight away, ordered a couple of beers and a bottle of wine, (after I'd retrieved the wine list from the waitress), starter was fine, main course came and my partners seafood Calzone looked and apparently was delicious, however,,, my £20 sirloin and chunky chips came as a sirloin and what can only be described as a huge pile of Mcdonalds fries, no explanation was offered as to why I'd been served frozen 'chips' with what was a very good steak !! When challenged I was given a chuckle and the comment "oh yeh, we've run out of those",,,,,, that's it, nothing else, just a chuckle, from this moment on we both felt as though they wanted rid of us and no dessert menu was offered, just the cleaning of nearby tables with overpowering Detol antibacterial cleaner, Such a shame as a £70 evening meal could've / should've been a good experience :o( Sorry Mamas,,,

Our first evening in Dartmouth, five including a six-year old and looking for an alternative to pub grub. A good selection of Italian dishes. Two of us had the mushroom risotto which was first class and granddaughter devoured the kids' pizza. A Milanese and Margherita were complimented. Side salads fresh and well presented. A good selection of wines and other drinks. When we arrived just after six there were only a couple of tables occupied but within half an hour or so people without bookings were being turned so probably a good idea to book. Service was excellent and we were not rushed.

Enjoyed a very tasty homemade pizza here during Regatta Week. Lovely ambiance and the staff were attentive and friendly.

We came across this Italian when strolling through the streets of Dartmouth. It was very busy everywhere we went but managed to find a table here. We ordered two lovely Pizzas and service was good so glad we came across it :)

Four of us ate here on a fairly busy Saturday night. Even though it was busy the service was prompt and friendly. All our meals were very good and the linguine with Dartmouth crab was especially tasty.

It is probably best to check as this restaurant only offers pizza on certain evenings, whereas other times pasta dishes are also on offer.We visited on a pizza only evening and glad we booked ahead as lots of people were turned away.The pizzas were amongst the best we had ever had. Our only critism would be that the pizzas were served 'whole' and not cut which would have been nicer. Anyhow we thoroughly enjoyed the meal, drinks and dessert.We cannot fault the service which was efficient and friendly.We will return!!

Booked ahead and was really looking forward to a simple pasta meal at an authentic Italian restaurant. I have a garlic intolerance and asked if I could have a Pomadoro sauce without garlic. We were told no, the sauces were made up and it would take ages to make one up, having to to puree the tomatoes and so on. This was really disappointing. So many Italian restaurants have made me a delicious sauce in no time (e.g. last week in Shanklin, peak season in a restaurant twice the size).I had no choice (as the children were hungry) but to have the steak and chunky chips. This arrived with stick thin McDonalds style chips. When I questioned this I was told "We're run out" (our booking was 7.30pm). I would normally expect to be told if being served something different to what's on the menu.The steak was tasty and nicely cooked, but was very fatty so I had to leave about 1/3 of it, which at £20 wasn't great. The waiter noted I hadn't eaten it and the fatty bits were clear to see, but made no comment or apology (not that it was his fault).The rest of my family enjoyed their meals, and the staff were polite, but we wouldn't return. We decided to go elsewhere for desserts.

Visited here last evening with my husband. I ordered a simple cheese and tomato pizza. My husband had spag bol. The spaghetti he said was fine hence they got the extra star. My pizza was not. The base was very tough. It was hard in parts to cut! The guy on the next table was struggling too with his pizza after his first mouthful. You would expect it to be fine, it is basic Italian food. We won't be visiting again worst meal we have had in Dartmouth all holiday.

We phoned at 6 and got a table for half 8 the same day . Lovely food ,wine and atmosphere . I had the pumpkin ravioli and it was delicious , full of flavour and a good size portion , other half had the bolognese and said it was very very tasty too !

It's not often on holiday that you find a restaurant and think, 'I wish that was our local Italian' - but this was one of those times. We went twice during our stay in Dartmouth and ate well both times. The Calzone Mare was particularly popular among fish-lovers in the party while the pasta dishes also came highly recommended. We were also impressed with the customer service; on our second visit there wasn't room for our group of 5, but a bit of juggling of space gave us tables of 3 and 2 right next to each other.Price-wise, Mama's Kitchen is pretty reasonable - a meal for five including drinks and sides set us back about £70, which is a lot less than many places in Dartmouth.Overall - highly recommended.

Visited twice during our week in Dartmouth. First on a rainy Monday evening, and second on a busy, sunny Friday evening. Both occasions were busy and I would highly recommend booking. Monday and Tuesday nights are Pizza night and the rest of the week A La Carte. Both meals were delicious though gluten free options were only available for pasta dishes and not pizza. The food was well presented and plenty of it. Desserts were limited but we didn't require one after the main meal anyway. Would definitely visit again as the service was friendly and professional.

The biggest asset this restaurant enjoys is location but it's squandering that very rapidly. We booked a table for 4 on a Thursday evening and one of our party was not able to join us until 30 minutes after the booking. The "manager" was pressing the other 3 to order ASAP and advised that the table was only available for an hour and a half and that we would have to vacate the restaurant when that time was up, whether we had finished our meal or not. The fourth member of the party arrived 20 minutes after the booking time and we all ordered our main courses. The food was AVERAGE. What I mean by that is that any competent cook can make better food at home themselves. The world has changed in the last 20 years. We all have access to unlimited ingredients and fantastic recipes. We don't need to eat out for good food. The only reasons we visit restaurants these days are for the social experience and convenience. This restaurant wasn't able to deliver on either of these. You've only got to read the cynical and abusive management responsesto critical reviews on this site to understand how disinterested the management is in their customer experience. It really is most extraordinary. I've no explanation for it but what I can say with certainty is that businesses like this have avery short shelf life.....

We recently stayed in Dartmouth and went to Mamas Kitchen twice during the week. Both times the food and service were very good. The restaurant was very busy but the waiting staff coped well with the number of people in both nights. Would definitely try again next time we are in the area.

This was by far our favourite meal in Dartmouth. The food and service were excellent. I had a risotto which was the nicest I have ever had! Our server was friendly and efficient and this restaurant represents real value for money with tasty fresh ingredients. It's a smallish restaurant which gets very busy so I would recommend that you book.
