One of the cliches on review sites is "hidden gem". This time, though, it is wholly accurate. No big swinging sign, no massive car park, no temporary banners announcing "watch sky sports live here" or "two for one". Thank God! This is one of my favourite pubs in the whole country. Warm welcome, friendly proprieters, dog lovers, log fire lovers, local ale, lots of other drinks, and above all cracking food at reasonable prices. And this is a rare find indeed as a venue that will offer a roast of the day...EVERYDAY... The building is historic, they have plenty of interesting and relevant pictures (not ones that have been just bought online) and the place feels cosy. They have a shelf full of board games, no TV's just great music playing at a low volume. Whether you are out for a day out walking, cycling, or anything related to the canal, this makes a perfect destination. Thank you Navigation inn, we are so glad we have found this Gem :-)

Magnificent pub. Wish it was my village pub. Staying nearby, we came for an evening meal which was great (steak, duck & salmon all got top marks). Excellent Salopian bitter, good range of whiskies, and to top it off The Salopian Boatmen singing in the bar. Just fabulous.

Had a fab Sunday roast at the Navigation Inn. Welcoming host and staff, going the extra mile. Food was really tasty, extra gravy, no problem, although not needed. Beef cooked to your particular taste which is important to me as I don't like it pink. I had sweet briwn ale which was lovely. Hisorical building with interesting stories on how it has developed over the years. Ideal location if you want to walk the canal, or arrive by boat. Dogs well and truly welcomed and they have a dog menu too. Loved the experience and will return.

Went for Sunday dinner with my boyfriend and dog (who was treated like royalty with treats and strokes) dog not boyfriend although he was treated well too :) It is so hard to find places where there is more than one vegan option! Especially around Oswestry. I have found my new go to place. Plenty of vegan options and DELISH! So welcoming, so friendly ! Will be bringing all of my family here for Sunday roasts and more couldn’t recommend enough!! FANTASTIC!!!

Mark and Brent the owner's are an amazing couple, hosts and Zak helping out on the bar and restaurant makes this Inn, very, very special! Turned up for a drink at this historical pub. Interesting historical rooms inside, including the deeds mounted in a frame on the wall. We were looking forward to sitting outside by the canal as other patrons were. First of all, we couldn't work out how to access the area but decided we'd get a drink and ask. We went to the bar where a man said he'd be a moment which is fair enough but he vanished with other customers in to the restaurant area and didn't return. No one else was serving drinks. Another customer came in. We waited 10 minutes to be served but no luck so we left. As we got in our car the other customer was leaving too.

The owners were incredibly attentive and accommodating. The Pub itself is atmospheric, what I would call a proper pub! Open fires, curiosities hanging from the beams and board games for the patrons in the corner. The food menu is varied and extensive, loads of choice for veggies and meatys. One of the nicest roasts I have had in a long time. Honest, home cooked food at a fair price. I will return and hope that this gem can continue to shine past all the Chain pubs that feel cold and uninviting.

Having moored up at the Queens Head (dogs only outside, even when it’s raining) we walked 50 minutes down the towpath to the Navigation Inn. The warmest welcome imaginable, delicious real ales, well judged menu (lots for veggies, glutens and vegans, though I made inroads into the tenderest beef) that kept its tempting promise, and a convivial clientele. Not posh, but comfortable, high quality and people and dog-friendly. In short, perfect. I’ll be back, boating or not.

A real gem of a pub! We had a lovely Saturday afternoon and evening there while on holiday recently, and it was a real highlight of the trip! We had our 2 dogs with us who were also made very welcome - especially our nervous rescue dog who the landlords were so good with, made us feel really comfortable having him there when he’s not always easy to take out.
