Popped in for an all-day breakfast at the last minute. They do some great deals on 2 for £12.49 and some of the food looked really nice. We gave breakfast 6/10 mainly because they don't offer to swap toast with fried bread, and they don't do mushrooms. However, the fish and chips looked great, and so did the gammon. Will definitely go back.

Nice little local place. We are here visiting, so didn't understand how ordering worked, but the patrons were helpful. Welcoming atmosphere and the staff was polite and pleasant. Food was great! We enjoyed good beer and a relaxing dinner

Myself and family use this pub as a meeting place to catch up with each other and have a couple of drinks and / or food. The reason we pick this pub is none of us have ever had a bad experience here. The pub is clean, the staff are amazing, always make you feel welcome and most of all comfortable. It is not a clicky pub, not rowdy unlike some in Cheltenham. I live in Hesters Way and have closer pubs to where I live, However, I would rather use this pub than the ones by me. It is dog friendly and my Children also love coming here. The prices are not bad at all and food is also of a great standard. I mainly like the fact that I can walk into this place on my own, feel comfortable, not be eyeballed by the local drunks you get in most places and is definately not a run down drug den. The staff are lovely and kind. Would especially like to mention Beth, Josh and Sarah for their outstanding customer service, always greet you with a smile, clearly work hard to make your visit the best. Most of the local pubs around here are clicky dives so were quite thankful to have this nice place to go in our area.

Best pub around the area. Prices are good and food is fab. Would like to mention how friendly the staff are, Josh and Beth and especially Sarah who goes out of her way to deliver top customer service. One example I can give you is from a while back we went there for dinner. Sarah informed us that the food wait was going to be longer than usual as they had no chef. We were happy to wait and thankful to be told about this. We ordered steak which to be fair is hit and miss in most places whether they get it right. However, we were served our food in not bad timing considering we found out that not only was Sarah running the bar but she also cooked our food. The pub went quiet and so she should have sat down for a well earned break but was quite concerned about how happy we were with our meals and said if anything wasn't to our likings she would take it back and do it again, apologising as she wasn't the chef. We thought that was so lovely that she cared so much with the pressure she was under. The steak was fab and so now this is our place to go for a good meal. This was probably the first time we had eaten there and because of the fab customer service we received that day from Sarah it is now our regular pub to eat, meet family and friends and have an overall great time. Have never had a bad meal or a bad experience. Been coming here for a few years now and am always happy from the time I enter to the time I leave.

The National Hunt is a very welcoming pub with good meals at a very good price and two members of the staff are particularly helpful and friendly and that is Sarah and Josh who stand out.

My partner and I have been here a few times now and i must be honest I’m a very fussy person food wise I have to say I’m really happy and pleased with all the service we’ve had,the hygiene,the staff,the standard and most of all the food is excellent We will be coming here often i will also highly recommend this place

Great little pub. I would say mainly locals that come here. Always found staff friendly. Food great. Price even better. Keep doing what you do! We will be back.

Staff very pleasant, very busy was told wait for food would be about one hour, food served well before then. Couldn't find fault with the food or service.

(RE-UPLOAD) I believed "The Umbrella" was the worse pub in town, until visiting this place a few times. Rude staff, wonky tables, and manager so rude he might as well be an undertaker. Punters sniff cocaine in toilets, often fights and pub brawls and if you have a free drink voucher, they will put vinegar in your drink. If you fancy going to a pub for a sniff, to see some 'so called' hard locals and mingle with alcoholics, then this is your place.

We had a nice welcome, but realised there was a football match on and it was really noisy. The menu was good, being a Sunday, we had the roast option too. We decided on rump steak and the roast rurkey roll. The steak was tasty. The roll was bound in gravy, with roasters and a jug of gravy, it was excellent. The match was a distraction and overly loud.

Friendly staff, very attentive to us and our doggies . Great quick service and a delicious sunday dinner

This pub is absolutely excellent The food, the service and the staff are 10/10 The value is exceptional. We had starter, dinner, dessert and about 4 pints each for less than £60 We are staying up the road in Leonardo for the race week. I hope other tourists find and support this place

Great place to drink and play some pool.

Bargain burgers. It happened to be build your Burger Wednesdays. Basically, it's a choice of beef, chicken, or vegan burger with three extras items included plus chips all for £5. Good portions & there was an option to double up your burger for £1. The place was packed with mainly over 60's taking advantage of the senior's menu, which was two courses for £5.50. The staff were friendly & went out their way.

9 times out of 10 when ordering drinks on their app they bring the drinks to your table. When I last visited the barman shouted at us from across the room pointing to our drinks sat on the bar telling us to come and get them. 2 minutes later the table next to us order drinks and this time he delivers them to their table without a problem.

Great place to watch local ‘characters’ with bulbous noses and bright red faces drink themselves into oblivion on cheap cider, whilst as the evening progresses becoming increasingly agitated and aggressive towards other patrons.

Visiting from Manchester Called in for a drink and a meal. As the restaurants are too pricey and the fast food outlets are boring. A Great local pub which is all you need, good tasty food and plenty of it. It has character and easy to order and very good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Dog friendly pub was perfect for us. Our only criticism was that we didn't know it was a sports bar and there was a footy match on. The food and the service made up for it.

Had a meal as we overnighted at a close by campsite. It's a sports pub, lots of TVs showing sport. Really good gammon chips etc. Very very good value.

Outstanding food and service, nothing was too much trouble for your lovely staff. The Pub is very well kept and extremely clean, the hard work put in by the owner with new furnishings and nice garden is very evident. A pleasure to visit. Thank you for a lovely experience.

We’re staying locally at Briarfields Camping Site and this pub was recommended as in walking distance and dog friendly. The staff here are lovely especially Beth who has been serving us. I’m so pleased with the number of vegan options too.

We went into the National Hunt whilst visiting family in the area, i think Greene King really need to teach their staff how to look after beer, unfortunately they had no bottled old speckled hen so i tried a glass of red wine, it was dreadful, next i tried a pint of Thatchers Dry cider, again it was awful, Greene King really need to look long and hard at this pub.

We visited The National Hunt today for a family meal and really enjoyed it. The food was great, cooked well, good portion size and superb value for money. All the staff were really accommodating, friendly and really helpful - will definitely visit again.

Dreadful beer, the wine wasnt much better, the guys running this pub need to learn how to keep beer and run a cellar, best avoided.

Visited with 7 friends from Pencoed South Wales as part of Cheltenham Cricket Festival. We had a great time, food excellent, staff and locals all really friendly. I visited the following evening although the rest decided to explore the town. (Wrong decision) Another great evening. Thanks to all the staff, special mention to Taylor who was so welcoming and friendly. Will visit again if in the area. Had Steak and Ale pie with mash 1st visit and a kebab 2nd night. Both excellent and good value.

Was the worst food I think I have ever had , I wouldn’t even feed it to my dog when I mentioned to him about the chicken being overly cooked and really chewy his reply was they are all pre cooked so if I was to get it again it would taste and be the same I would highly recommend you stay away from this sh*t hole

Ordered 4 different meals .Wanted to send them all back.Hunters chicken was as tough as shoe leather.All day breakfast looked like it had been sat somewhere all day,roast beef ,everything except meat was under done .If I wanted a badly microwaved meal I could of done it at home.AVOID

We have visited the National Hunt many times and since the new landlord has taken over our pub/dining experience has improved immensely.We have visited twice this week (Wed & Friday afternoon) and on both occasions the food has been excellent,piping hot,very tasty, good portion sizes,well presented and cooked perfectly. Such good value too. A warm welcome and excellent service on every visit. Dogs are allowed too and provided with water and biscuits. A great place to visit after a dog walk. We will return and return.

Been today after re viewing our wedding venue close by after travelling down from the midlands. If i could give 10 stars i would, cannot recommend enough and theyve certainly secured a customer for life here. The staff are more than helpful and friendly, not to mention there customer service is above and beyond what can be expected when visiting a local "pub"; your lucky to recieve such attentive and happy staff in a luxury establishment. Words cannot explain how happy i am after visiting there and how its just polished off an already amazing day for me and my fiancèe. Thank you all so much, we will be returning on our next trip down to our venue.

A good local pub, with good standards, good beers, and good customer service. This pub won't disappoint you nor create a wow effect. Great to go and grab a pint or something to eat.

Another lovely supper on a busy race night evening..... The chicken and bacon salad was delicious, succulent chicken and crispy bacon, well done chef.

Great pub for watching sport, good choice of ales with regular changes. The food is superb and seems to be much bigger portions than other Greene-king pubs - so most welcome. Special mention to all the staff who are really friendly and make you feel really welcome. No matter who is working, they will remember your name, what you normally drink and have excellent banter with you. Special special mention to Josh who is a diamond, works really hard but always still has time to keep a keen eye on when you need you top up.

Hit and miss if they are doing meals on Sundays. Several times in the last few moths there has been no cook on a Sunday.

What a great Christmas Dinner. Huge portions & all nicely cooked. A great atmosphere with Christmas tunes playing in the background. Staff were lovely & the service was great. A big thank you to all the staff who gave up their Christmas Day to look after us. 👏👏👏

Our Tuesday Coffee Morning Group (10-12 noon) each week at the National Hunt) enjoyed a lovely meal this week. Tables were set beautifully. 32 people enjoyed a festive Christmas Meal. The staff are great and did a fabulous job coping with 32 meals....not an easy task. Thank you to you all.

what a shambles this pub has become. massive Manchester Derby today,and the pub has no beer.

Decided on the spur of the moment today to have lunch at a local pub and decided to choose this pub as it was fairly close. Checked the menu and the 5 that wanted to go chose something from the menu, which had a very good selection. We arrived about 1220 hrs and after ordering the drinks told that food was only from 1pm. We decided to eventually wait and after finishing our drinks, started to place our order about 1pm to be told the chef that the chef had just arrived and unable to state how long the wait would be for the food to be served as other customers were in front of us. As a result we left and went to a nearby Harvester, where we had a far better experience. Draw your open conclusion from our visit. We thought it would be good to give this local pub our business as the hospitality trade was still suffering. Let down and disappointed is a fair summary of our visit.

Great place, landlady is brilliant

My first visit back to the national hunt in a long time . The Manager Faye is rude unwelcoming and has the worst people skills . Her customer service is not up to the standards of the other green king pubs I regularly visit . We were served flat coke with vodka and kindly explained the coke was flat and could we buy a bottle of coke instead she was unwilling to help grunted at us and didn’t even speak . Then had the cheek to charge us for the extra vodka to go alongside the bottled coke we had purchased. I’ve never known a most unwelcome miserable faced staff member . She needs to learn how to smile

We had roast dinner this weekend wasn't as nice as before, vegetables dried up wasn't as hot ,when we went in the week had a burger couldn't fault it

Had a lovely meal here with plenty of choice ,good portion sizes and good selection of drinks. Staff were prompt and friendly, service with a smile. Well done team !

Only giving a one star as it will not let me leave any lower on a weekend away i booked this pub as it had good reviews the pub is tidy and has local pub atmosphere I ordered jacket potato and a side salad with a side order of coleslaw and two corn on the cobs the meal was delivered and the jacket potato was just above frozen temperature it was still hard from being defrosted the coleslaw had salt in the mix and the corn on the cob was burnt from the inside out this may have been microwave for to long I returned the meal and a new one came but the pub wasn’t able to supply the full meal as they had ran out even tho the pub hadn’t been full and on previous conversations with the bar staff if they had been busy I was told not really. The meal came and the new jacket potato had been microwaved to the point I was surprised lava wasn’t coming out of the middle I had to wait 5 mins for it to cool to an edible temperature and at.That point it had started to harder as it was over cooked the salad was bone dry and hadn’t been washed the meal for two turned in to a meal for one as I had to leave the inedible meal a local pub for a pint if you were thinking of a meal forget it I would have expected more from such a large chain green king be ashamed of your poor standards !!!

The staff were very friendly & helpful. The OAP meals offered a good variety and were well prepared and appetising. There is a pleasant atmosphere. I thoroughly recommend this public house to local OAP residents

Absolutely shocking food quality. Beef like gandhi's flipflop pre sliced and cooked in gravy, shrivelled dehydrated vegetables, mashed potato that looked like it was made of playdough but could pick the whole thing up on my knife as if it was a clay disk. The place is dark, dingy, loud and smelly. Definitely not a place to go for good food and atmosphere. The guy serving looked like I'd asked for Horseradish in a foreign language that he didn't understand, went to ask in the kitchen and returned with a little metal dish with some in. The cutlery was wrapped up in soggy napkins that I had to go looking for after our food arrived, as we weren't told they would bring it to us. Only gave the extra star because there was plenty of gravy as there was some on the plate and a little extra jug of it.

The food was as advertised in the photo's on the menu, good size portions, hot which I love and very tasty. However the service from a young chap call Josh (Bannister I believe) was different class. We are not a regulars, every now and then...

We visited for a Christmas lunch with a group of 16 fellow Motorhomers, the service was ‘brilliant’ very attentive staff. The food was almost second to none, although we were a big party the turkey was lovely and moist, the starters, main course and desserts...

We were staying at briarfields touring park which is a short walk from this pub. Walked up the pub Friday night. Faye and her staff were so welcoming and very friendly. They are doing an amazing job. There was a great atmosphere in the pub....
