The Mundy Arms in Amber Valley

Absolutely brilliant! We stumbled over this place and glad to find it be the best chef and brewer we have been in so far! Heidi looked after us so well, she was friendly and efficient but when we asked about the no leaf salad, the Chef Jo came out of the kitchen and talked us through the menu and was so knowledgeable and friendly! Not only that, the food was the best prepared we have had yet in any chef and brewer! She clearly knows what she’s doing in the kitchen and it shines through. I’d love to have a meal prepared by her again soon! All this and they are dog friendly! Keep it up.

We recently had to attend our fifth funeral wake at the Mundy Arms. These Wakes are really good with great food and service. The pub is close to the crematorium and therefore very convenient for these occasions.

Special thanks to Anders and chefs Craig and Jo who made sure we had a perfect evening, lovely atmosphere and was allocated a table in front of the fire, so cosy and relaxing, food was superb, we had the terrine to start then steak and lasagne, steak was cooked perfectly and lasagne probably the best we’ve had. Desserts and lovely hot latte rounded off the evening, we will definitely be returning to sample some more delicious food.

Meal was lovely , couldn’t fault it , Heidi and anders looked after us well , best orange squash and soda ever had

As always my experience with the Mundy Arms was impeccable. The new Christmas menu is absolutely delicious and huge thank you to Meg, Heidi and Craig for making our visit memorable. The fireplace was so relaxing and really highlighted the Christmassy vibes :)

Megan was great. Great fun, very accommodating, and perfect balance between leaving us to have a good time at the table and ensuring we had all we needed. Thank you. Food was fab so credit to Craig the chef for that. I had the sea bass and scallops with risotto. Very nice indeed. And nice to see the Christmas tree and decorations up bringing a nice festive spirit to an end of November Thursday evening. Great stuff. Can highly recommend. We’ll be back.

I booked a finger buffet for 20 people for after a funeral. The room was excellent and the buffet selection and quantity provided was very good. Melisija was very friendly and helpful. Thank you to the Chef Ethan too.

Myself and my husband went for a meal earlier today. I have say the food was amazing!!! The service spot on and all the staff were so attentive and friendly!! Will be back soon!!!

Fantastic service, we booked a large table at short notice for an engagement meal celebration. Anders and his staff couldn’t do enough for us. The food was lovely and the space was fantastic. I would highly recommend. They even opened the pub earlier to accommodate us! Thank you so much!!

Visited for a Birthday meal whilst away. Lovely warm welcome with such pretty quaint interior. The food was very enjoyable, and we were very well looked after. The ladies were very good with the children and attentive to our needs. I really enjoy the sharing options on the menu, as someone who struggles to choose they are good to try a little of everything! Would recommend for a meal out.

Absolutely love the Mundy. Every visit is always fantastic. The food is absolutely amazing, it’s my favourite restaurant in Derby. It’s faultless. The staff are always warm and friendly. We visited the Mundy arms last night. We had drinks and ordered a takeaway. The staff were very friendly and attentive, never left us waiting for a drink. The takeaway came quick and the food was just amazing!!!

This is the best Chef and Brewer pub we've visited. Such lovely food (highly recommend the Sunday roast) and the two members of waiting staff were excellent. Service was very attentive, polite and friendly and food/drinks were of high standard. Will certainly visit again.

Brilliant Xmas Dinner with very attentive staff. Food good, all delivered together and piping hot. Good selection of beers and spirits. We are a party of 10 from 13 months to over 60. All more than happy with the Mundy experience. So much so we have booked for next year. Big thankyou to the staff for making our day.

We spent Christmas day with family at the Mundy arms in Macworth. The best Christmas ever, food and wine excellent. So relaxed and staff well outstanding service excellent in every way.Well done to the Mundy arms a hidden gem and we will be back for Xmas dinner next year.

Visited for a birthday meal. The service, food and surroundings were all of a very high standard. Steak cooked to perfection. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. A Warm fire and well kept surroundings were just the ticket.

We popped in for a drink and a snack on a Sunday afternoon in December. We hadn't booked a table and I anticipated it would be busy with families enjoying Sunday dinner, but we were welcomed so warmly and a table found for us immediately. Our order was taken promptly and our drinks and bowl of chips arrived in less than 5 minutes. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and service was outstanding. It was also spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. We'd never visited The Mundy Arms before but will most definitely return and will be recommending to others. Thank you!

Welcome was good, service too. menu was also but that is where the plus points ended.Yorkshire puddings served with the Sunday roasts were something other- flat pancake type addition. Meal was hot and served on hot plates, but otherwise Ok.Sweet choice was limited as two of the items our group selected are said to be unavailable after we chose them. Hope you get the picture.

We called in for lunch today Unsure of what to have Staff member Lorraine was very helpful with recommendations We had one of her suggestions a steak mix with a chicken skewer It’s was a great potion and was delicious Thank you

Went yesterday at 12 midday for a long awaited catch-up and natter with a friend. We had Scampi and Gammon which was beautifully cooked and piping hot. Have always enjoyed our food here but this just seemed to be even better than usual. Will certainly both be back in the future.

Me & my husband just popped in for something to eat and were overwhelmed with the service give by the staff, especially Lorraine who couldn't do enough for us - thanks Lorraine! Food was excellent too!

We hosted a family gathering following a funeral at The Mundy Arms this week and really cannot speak more highly of it,The team there from when we first enquired about the venue, until we left were exceptionally friendly, compassionate and professional. The venue was perfect, a lovely quiet room out of the way, in which the family and friends could be together, there was no rush or pressure. Bar staff and service was exceptional.The food “packages” (Bronze, Silver and Gold) available to choose from were excellent and varied. And what we finally chose was perfect. The hot items were lovely and hot, everything was very fresh and tasty. All of the family and friends who attended commented on how lovely the food was and that the venue was perfect. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Mundy Arms and would like to thank the entire team there.

Asked about dairy free options as one of the party has an allergy and was told they were not allowed to tell us we had to read a sheet of information which was in very tiny print and decide for ourselves!!!!!! The lighting was full and no heating was on Dreadful meal , veg cold meat dry the so called roast potatoes were the only thing that were hot Definitely won’t be returning

We came as a family to have a evening meal to celebrate our daughters birthday.Very disappointed by the poor service, first of all we ordered a vegetarian meal which should have included gravy and we had to wait to grab the waitresses attention to ask for the gravy.The meals were o.k but nothing special.After finishing our meals we asked for a dessert menu which we were given but then had to wait at least 20 minutes before having to ask the waitress to take the order.Then whilst the waitress was clearing our plates she dropped a plate resulting in gravy running all over the table which very nearly ended up on our knees.We were not asked if our meals were good and had to go to the bar to pay the bill as we were fed up of waiting for a waitress to come to the table.Very disappointed with everything especially when it was a birthday meal.

We went here for lunch. The service was quite good and the food was of reasonable quality for a pub.

When Kedleston Hall restaurant was bursting with half term visitors a hasty search of the internet led us to The Mundy Arms - how lucky were we! It was a Monday lunch time and were a family of eight, despite saying there could be a slight wait as they had a reduced staff level in the kitchen the service and food was excellent. I wish we lived closer to visit again soon but will defiantly remember to go back when next in the area.

We stayed in the hotel adjacent to the Mundy. 6 of us, Ordered a range of breakfasts, took a while, but it was freshly made and absolutely delicious. The restaurant/pub is really lovely. No complaints

We went here for Sunday tea and ordered Roast beef, hunters chicken and a chicken burger. The Sunday roast was okay but nothing special except no roast potatoes. We asked but got no further reply. The hunter’s chicken was very dry with the sauce being nothing more than a solid mass on top of the bacon, still edible though. The chicken burger was good. Asked for a desert menu but still didn’t see it after a 15 minute wait. I had to go to the till to get the bill which was delivered with bad grace. Sorry to say we won’t be back again.

Been to the Mindy arms quite a few times and it was always good food / service from the team.Been tonight and the service was poor- very unprofessional attitude by staff.We won’t be coming back here ever again, very disappointed.

I went with my wife for a Sunday roast but left so disappointed! The turkey was awful, the bit of veg dumped together on the plate looked and tasted like it was warmed up from a different day! And as for the Yorkshire pudding, dry and like concrete! They also quote lashings of gravy! Not at all you get a bit on your turkey and had to ask for more! The stuffing was pointless! One mouthful worth! And to my shock when paying the bill they charged £3.50 for a diet coke! Really awful experience! Don't put yourself through it, there are far better out there

We went for lunch today staff were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced would definitely recommend.

We booked a space at the Mundy arms for the reception after my mum‘s funeral. They were absolutely brilliant, the food was exactly what we asked for which was sandwiches and crisps lots of tea coffee and cakes. There was plenty for everybody, fresh abd well presented. The staff are lovely the venue is clean there is a bar available. It was really good value.They were also really nice to deal with when setting this up – which meant a great deal to me with all the stress of this time.We have been to the Munday Arms before for meals and always great, always with really friendly, efficient staff and good unfussy food. 10/10 all round.Thank you

We went here on a Friday afternoon for some dinner and it was just excellent, brilliant service from staff and food was exceptional Everyone was polite and friendly snd ready to deal with our complicated order that was brought to us in great time and with amazing service from staff! We chose this place as it was a short drive from Markeaton Crematorium and we needed somewhere peaceful to eat and recover.This place ticked all the boxes. The food, service, prices, ambiance and facilities were all perfect.The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. There is ample seating inside as well as a cute outside seating area overlooking fields. Good, free parking and even a motel type hotel using the same plot of land.We had a large range of people with us from a 6 year old to a 55 year old and all were very satisfied with the food and drinks available.Would highly recommend and will be back.

Family MealAbsolutely outstanding place. From phoning to book in & every part of the food & service. My children have even said it’s the best place they have ever been for a meal with us & we go out a lot as a family. Every staff member was attentive polite & welcoming. Visited at dinneer on 30th August. Food was really poor very disappointed. We ordered the Chicken peri peri. Arrived so char grilled it was dry, black and the smallest chicken thigh in the land! My Husband ordered the seafood special for £16. Again portion size very very small and not cooked well. The Children's meals were burnt burger and toasted burger bun and dry chicken nuggets. We didn't stay for desert. £54 later we won't be visiting here again. Waiting staff were apologetic but the kitchen staff shoukd be ashamed of the standards offered. Far better elsewhere. Avoid!

Family meal party of 10, incl 3 children & 1 toddler. Staff really attentive to all our needs really on the board. Good Sunday roasts, good ales in cosy atmosphere. We are so happy with the Mundy that we booked for Xmas day festive meal.

Having travelled up to Derby for a family wedding, I was really looking forward to lunch here. The place looked great but in all my life I have never been so disappointed in the food. The staff were great but what we paid for the food was scandalous. Worst meal ever. I did send the meal back but even so on return it was not good on return. It may be they have too much choice, we chose the chefs special and it was so not special ☹️

Having looked forward to a relaxing dinner with our close friend for the first time since lockdown, we were dreadfully disappointed with the whole experience. The food was nothing short of a disgrace - I needed a hammer and chisel to break into the pie I had ordered and when I did manage to break the crust, I was met with a dry, virtually empty middle. The mashed potato lay like a lump of rubber on my plate with a crust on it nearly as hard as the pie!! In an effort to moisten the food I attempted to pour out the accompanying gravy but sadly that was a coagulated jug of lumps so I gave up. I could go on about the rest of the food which was equally as bad but I think I’ve set the scene. I was given a different meal in place of the pie but eating alone when my friends had finished was not really the idea of the sociable evening I had in mind, and in all honesty the second meal wasn’t much better but by that time my appetite was lost, both for food and for complaining. The staff seemed woefully untrained to cope with complaints but were apologetic and thanked me for the feedback - they explained they were shortly going to be changing the menu which would make things better!! I suggested the menu was fine and it should indeed be the chef they should be changing!! I should mention that the tables felt very ‘sticky’ and the lavatories were, shall we say, less than inviting and there was a distinct lack of loo roll !!All in all a very disappointing evening which was upsetting because of the contentious atmosphere caused by having to complain. I very much doubt we shall be troubling this establishment again!

Stopped at the Mundy Arms for some food after a long day out. We asked for a table for two and the lovely waitress sorted a table for us. I ordered the Steak Pie with mash which was so lovely and my partner ordered the pork belly off the specials which was beyond our expectations. The meals themselves were filling and we wanted something sweet but wasn’t sure if we could manage desserts but the waitress explained we could take desserts home with us which I think is amazing idea. All in all an amazing pub good quality food for the price. Staff are kind and friendly, huge recommendation. Thank you Mundy Arms Team.

We bobed into the mundy arms, after a long day at work we found this place, we cant believe we havent found thus sooner, we sat in the bar area staff were friendly and helpful and chatty which was nice to relax with a drink after a long day! We will return thank you!

We visit here weekly, sometimes once a week sometimes 5 times a week, the food is amazing here especially the fillet steak and when it is served with a smile what more can you want?! We e tried other places but keep coming back trust me, try it you won't be disappointed See ya next time

After a mix up with our details, the manager and her team managed to whip up a hot and cold buffet for 50 people within 45 minutes!!! Food was great, staff were lovely would highly recommended and will be revisiting with family

My family and I went for Sunday lunch on 15/08/2021.We chose this as pre covid had many lovely meals here sadly this visit our first actual meal out since rules relaxed were disappointing. We waited patiently to be seated having booked and were initially seated opposite the toilets.There was a musty smell which I put down to being in that area so requested to move table.The young waitress was happy to move us in the same area but further away from the toilets , the smell was still there which I would describe as a damp musty smell, maybe the pub was closed for sometime during covid and as not maybe heated this is the result? The ladies toilets had only one available toilet one was out of order the other had no light and it was quite dark in there there didn’t appear to be hot water when washing our hands.I had Sunday roast/turkey.It looked presentable but just had no flavour to it the cabbage and veg was warm but not hot the rest as I said had no taste I left most of it.My husband seemed to enjoy his mixed grill however the steak was cooked rare when medium was asked.We didn’t complain about his steak as we had waited so long for our meal and time was getting on and we had children with us.The children’s meal was fine. My Daughter didn’t enjoy her meal either and left most of it as that too had no flavour.We did mention to the waitress who came back and kindly offered a free desert to myself and daughter we also had a slight reduction from our bill.It’s not cheap food and I personally felt we should not have paid for the two disappointing meals however are not usually the type to complain and didn’t want to put other diners off so we left after paying out bill.All in all sadly was very disappointed

Went for a family meal on Sunday, waited ages to be seated right next to the toilets and the smell was awful so we requested to be moved! The service was really slow although it didn't appear to be very busy, the food was terrible I had a Cajun chicken burger which had no Cajun flavour what so ever it was just a deep fried crispy chicken dripping with fat my mum had a Sunday dinner which was flavour less, kids meals were ok although the beans were disgusting and had a funny taste. We complained and got 20% off the bill which I suppose it's something! Won't go there again I had terrible belly ache on leaving

I really enjoyed my dinner here. I went for the supper meal and went for starter and main meal. It was very nice and recommend it.

We have been here once before and we were very impressed so we came back with the rest of the family after we had been to Markeaton Park. We all had a wonderful meal and the food was really good!!Great service and they had even been able to sort some flowers for my Mum!!!!.Would really recommend and would definitely go again!!

Called in here at lunchtime with my Mum. There were 3 couples already eating but no-one at the bar. There was a sign asking you to "wait to be seated" so we did. After 3 minutes no staff had been seen behind the bar or in the room. I phoned the pub from my mobile and the phone nearby rung. No one answered and after a great many rings went to an answer machine saying they couldn't answer the phone ! We decided they clearly didn't want our custom and went to The Bridge at Duffield where we were warmly welcomed on entry, quickly seated and had a great meal. Do yourself a favour don't waste your time going the Mundy Arms, there are lots of other good pubs close by.

We went for lunch me and my partner and 3 year old boy. We waited ages to be served, it wasn’t busy at all. We were served our starters and had to wait for the child’s food at least an hour from when we were seated!When my chicken burger arrived within two bites I could see the chicken was raw. The food was terrible. Very nice looking pub but a shame that it’s a food safety hazard and seems to be run by teenagers. I would not go here again through fear of getting sick. They even tried to charge for the burger my partner had to ask for it to be removed from the bill. Such a shame, nice looking pub in lovely area.

Visited here last night with my husband and friends. The service was great, food was delicious and it made for a great night out. Nothing was too much trouble for our waitress, Claire. She was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back soon! Thank you for a great night after a tough 17 months!

I visited The Mundy Arms we had food plus drinks the staff was very pleasant and food was excellent the service was top standard and would recommend this very friendly pub. I will definitely be back again soon!

After I ordered, my food arrived swiftly, and I recieved two of the specials starters I was extremely pleased with the King Prawn and mango and lime chicken starters. They were extremely delicious, couldn't be happier. The service was friendly, and I felt welcomed even though I dined alone. Would definitely recommend anything off the specials menu in particular.

Fantastic find. The food was amazing and up to standard the staff were friendly and respected Covid restrictions. We felt it was a safe and clean environment. The manager elly was wonderful and took the time to explain the Covid measures and the menu as a member of our party had allergies. And the other two member of staff took care of our needs and they were very welcoming and very amiable. The meals we had didn’t take too long to come to our table huge thanks to the chef. Highly recommend the pub.

They do allow reasonable changes to standard menu e.g. exchange chips for mash, or no mushrooms.Too full to try desserts but will try next time.Staff are very friendly, helpful with regular checks to the table. Staff or pub will automatically put through any offers that are available on your bill should what you choose come under the deal - very ethical.Reasonable time for food to arrive. Ate here this weekend and overall it was good. Staff were really kind, too. However, there was no hand sanitizer on entrance (it was empty) and they left extra cutlery on the table and didn’t change it out for the next people sat there. Food was good, portion was perfect, prices were average. There was only one vegan main on the menu which was a mushroom pie. It was good, but would’ve loved a couple choices. I’d definitely come back but hope the sanitation stuff was a one off!

Very nice pub, 3 stars for the staff who I don't blame who were friendly and efficient, but the food was not good now we all know a lot of chain pubs buy their food in from frozen but at least make it worth while experience, for the price I paid i won't be going back, but again the staff were good

Beautiful food, and great service, all staff were attentive, We would definitely come back soon.. Daughter had mussels, and I had prawn cocktail for starters, main was caesar salad with Sea bass and daughter had Halloumi Chips and peas,and we shared a dessert platter, the food was amazing..

Booked for party of 6 ( 4 adults + 2 children age 9 & 12 ). Very good Covid procedure without being too restrictive. Pleasantly greeted at the door on entry and escorted to our table. Drinks ordered straight away and left to ponder the menu. All the meals came out together in a reasonable time good and hot. My son & I had the sirloin which was spot on - 2 clean plates at the end. It was a relaxed atmosphere with no rush and we all enjoyed the experience. We will be back soon.

We visited the Mundy Arms on Friday and the whole experience was excellent. The meal of fish and chips was very tasty.The atmosphere was good and service was pleasant and polite. The staff clearly seemed to enjoy their work.We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Came this afternoon and was overwhelmed by the cleanliness of the environment..Covid guidelines visibly in place and was greeted by very welcoming staff.Table service available however I used the app and was impressed with how fast the service was!I had a couple of sides and was impressed with the presentation and taste of the food!Glazed veg was perfect and potatoes was very tasty too!Would highly recommend visiting!New manager has clearly done a lovely job and time and effort has been put into every detail of the pub!Definitely visiting again soon!

We came for a meal at the Mundy as many times before lockdown....The food has always been great but tonight was very disappointing. We a joint starter which was great, but the main meal was not how I read it on the menu.The bacon was missing the chips were cold and over cooked, it came out really quick so I assume it was sat under the heating lamps. I wish now I had said something waste of money.

We visited for a late lunch, first time we’d been out for a meal since last October! Had a nice starter and were enjoying a nice chat in between our starter and main when we heard the most shocking outburst we’ve ever heard coming from the kitchen! The Kitchen Manager started shouting at one of the serving staff at the top of his voice using absolutely foul language (the F word was used repeatedly) and it went on for quite some time. It could be heard from as far away as the toilets way downstairs. Turns out there had been a mis-communication over one of the tables’ order. I don’t care what the reason, that was the most shocking behaviour I have ever witnessed in a hospitality setting - indeed anywhere. When we did get our main (which we did ask to be delayed and so should have been cooked when we said we were ready for it) it was way overdone, therefore leading us to believe it had been cooked way before we asked for it and sat under the lights waiting to be served - we didn’t want to complain as we didn’t want to set him off again! The behaviour of that individual has definitely put us off a return visit. The individual concerned didn’t even have the decency to come out and apologise and even try to explain his behaviour! We go out to relax, not to witness gut turning behaviour that made us want to leave! All of that said, the two ladies serving were absolutely lovely!

First day back for the hospitality industry, and first time in the Mundy Arms Thank you for a lovely visit today for lunch, All precautions in place and a lovely atmosphere, a quaint little pub/restaurant Thank you Mundy arms for putting me as ease during these times, having the safety measures in place!

Atmosphere excellent considering covid restrictions. We'd planned to go with two family inlaws as 'a four' but had to change after recent restrictions changed to two seperate tables and go in seperate cars. No problem for us or other couple - all should be observing government directives and advice - its in all our interest!Staff couldn't have been more helpful, professional and friendly. Place was very clean, well organised and all tables well distanced and protocols operatid by staff were strict but not at all 'opressive'. Reassuringly sensible and safe I thought. Service was prompt without feeling like your 'being processed' at a cattle market as in so many similar establishments. Had a lovely meal, starter, main course and wine all excellent and (understandibly) restricted beer choices were still great. Thoroughy recommend and this place (which was a return visit after a previos excellent experience)Our servers were Dan,Sheryl (who we also had previous visit) and Ryan - all were excellent and we'll certainly return frewqiently despite the travel for us from South Derbyshire - once situation allows us too.

All precautions in place for Coronavirus. Staff were very efficient and very eager to please. Food was excellent. Out of all the pubs in Derby that we have visited we would rate this as the best.

£5.79 for a Prawn and Avocado cocktailIt had 5 prawns of the type that costs £3.50 for a bag of 30 prawns in SainsburysI small slice of avocado cut into 4 All served in a teacup of wet lettuce with toast that hadn't been toasted.Anyone preparing or serving this disgrace of a meal must have know it was wrong.Others have mentioned the 'trio of meats' - Its simply outrageous that they can get away with 3 wafer thin half slices of meat, a couple of teaspoons of veg and charge £12 for it.I had genuine reasons for not making a fuss on the day, but will do the only thing that i can do and that is to take my custom elsewhere.

Weekend away at a cycling event, evening meals at The Mindy Arms. Lovely food, very attentive service all boxes tucked will be back. Sheryl very helpful.
