Called in on the off-chance. What a change. Is now a Nepalese restaurant and the food is excellent. Probably the best Nepalese we have had for years, can't wait to go back.

Me and a couple of friends had meals here tonoght and everything was faultless as 5 stars suggest. Shesh and Bidhan made the meal very special. Highly recommended and we'll be going back.

Table was booked for 4 people 8 pm Got there at 7.50pm, at 8.20pm walked out As not.spoken to, just stood in side the entrance , 2 other groups of people walked out at the same time , very disappointed, , if we was asked to get a drink at the bar and will be called when table was ready that would have been fine . But nothing very bad

Great venue. Decent size car park, the building was lovely with wooden beams and nooks . All the staff where very pleasant and the service was excellent. The food did not disappoint either served efficiently at a good temperature and very tasty. Also good value. It's the first time I've been to this establishment but it won't be my last.

Excellent Nepalese curries - great taste! Wyevale ales on draft too! Staff couldn't be more friendly, even in a very busy , weekend evening, which made for a great atmosphere without any annoying musac! 😊

I celebrated my birthday here with 13 people (including an 8year old and young teenagers) the service was great, from the minute we arrived, even adding an extra person very last minute was no trouble. Everyone had a traditional dish and the food and flavours were so good, we had some family members who had come from Austria and they were so impressed we plan to go again before they leave!

We live in the village and ever since they have opened, they have given a new energy to the area. The staff are great, the food is wonderful and there is a good selection of beers. Long may they reign.

The food is delicious and freshly made to order, the staff are so welcoming from the moment you walk though the door, they greet you with a smile and very polite to when you leave, probably the friendliest people I've had the pleasure to meet,

A busy Saturday night so parking was a problem, having to walk down the road in the rain. The staff were quite anxious to take our order but it took us a while to decide because it all looked amazing and I needed to be able to sort out what could be dairy free. She was brilliant and went off to thr kitchen to check. The starters arrived and were fantastic, I had dumplings and they were divine. There was quite a long wait to the main course but not something we were worried about. The mains arrived and again were fantastic, very flavourful without blowing your brains out with chilli. The naan bread was light and delicious, made specifically for me and one one of the best I’ve had. Overall a lovely evening with wonderful food and I would definitely recommend

Honestly can't recommend this place any more, the food, the atmosphere the chicken biryani is amazing good quantity, been as a couple and a group, eaten a few times and also just been for drinks always been looked after.

You need to book as extremely busy especially later in the week . It deserves to do well as food is excellent and staff friendly & welcoming . Long delay in ordering mains but well worth wait , drinks & starters were served quite quickly . Tables very close such that you could not sit comfortably especially in the big room on left of bar . Carpark tight and entrance to pub needs marking off as cars park across it so you can’t walk in let alone use a wheel chair .

The Gurkhas food was absolutely amazing no doubt about it. Staff was very friendly. I know they have been only open a month and they are still finding there way but in my opinion restaurants have too many tables as our chairs were back to back to other tables and people were struggling to get out. Also our total wait from moment we sat down till we received dinner was 1,5 hours, poppadoms and drinks were very quick. And some people were saying there starters were quick as well but long wait for main. Wish we were told that there will be a long wait.

First visit since it became The Ghurkas at The Mother Huff Cap, and it was delicious! My dad, who is not a curry fan, had the honeyed chicken, as recommended by the owners son. He thoroughly enjoyed it! Food was really flavourful, and very good value. All of the staff incredibly polite and friendly. The place had a real buzz, and was very busy (we were advised to book a table next time). A few English dishes (not that many will order one), some well known Indian dishes, and an array of Ghurka specialties. I had the Ghurka Tawa, which was delicious, if a little mild (they will tailor the chilli factor though, should you wish). Look forward to revisiting and trying some more of their unique cuisine.

What an amazing difference the new owners have made. The welcome is brilliant and the food and service get better with every visit!

Just been to The Gurkas @ The Mother Huff Cap in Gt Alne- if you haven't been and love something different and beautifully tasty... it's a must. Lovely staff. Extra bonus for those who love to have their furry bestie with them, they allow Dogs in the bar area. 🥰🤗

Booked well in advance - just as well as it was REALLY busy! Friendly welcome, though initial problem with finding an accessible table (even though I’d emailed in advance to request one). POSITIVES: The food here is amazing - a blend of Indian, Chinese and Nepalese. We went for Nepalese dishes as they are not something you can get just anywhere. Food brought quickly and it was hot and very tasty. The staff are friendly and always smiling. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: The restaurant is new (only open a few weeks) so hopefully the organisation will improve. Staff do not attend specific tables so we had trouble getting drinks, were asked 3 times if we’d ordered (better than not at all though!) and were brought the wrong bill at the end. With a few tweaks here, this place would be fabulous. Word of warning: car park very small and not suitable for wheelchairs due to the stones.

Picked up a takeaway from here last night for the first time. The food was outstanding. Lovely staff and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be back soon. Great to see the place so busy.

Our first but definitely not our last visit to The Gurkhas. Very friendly and welcoming staff and absolutely fabulous food. Prices were reasonable, we had two courses plus a couple of beers and a bottle of wine and the bill came to £133 for the four of us, given the quality of the food I would rate it as excellent value for money. I highly recommend the Gurkhas if you like Nepalese food you are in for a treat, they also cater for people who prefer more traditional food which we haven't tried but I see no reason why the quality would not be as good. Good luck to Al and the team in this new venture.

Brilliant! Great food and exceptional service. Been twice now in the space of a week. It's good to see the Mother Huff Cap re-opened with genuine people who care about what they are doing. They only opened in December '24 so you have to ignore reviews older than that (the previous operators had a bad reputation). And I like the way they are trying hard to connect with the village locals (like me). Worth trying, definately.

1st visit last night, and really good 1st impression. Staff smartly dressed, warm & welcoming. Spotlessly clean. I liked you could see into the chef,s kitchen - no Gordon Ramsey shouting, just calm, co-ordinated team work. Tasty food, right size portions, with warm plates presented. All staff were doing their own jobs, but willing to help. Tasty food means exactly that; no precooked, mass produced rubbish, but fresh, clean ingredients that you can see being prepared. My Madras was about half a heartbeat from getting my traditional hiccups! Naan was thin.... but very very garlicky👍👍. For a Thursday night, we still booked. Half the restaurant was full, with a few others drinking in the bar. Overall, a very good 1st visit.

Visited this evening First inpression was very good welcomed on arrival shown to table poppadoms brought over. Staff friendly and very smart. Ordered food and drinks. We had the mixed grill which was nice for 4 but not really proportioned for 4 to share for the cost one fish panora and 2 lamb chops Lamb jalfrzie not that spicy and not a lot of meat , Chicken Patia OK However when we received the bill we were amazed that a soda water was £3.45:plus £1.85 for a shot of lime So £5.40 for a non alcoholic drink 60p more than a pint of HPA. This definitely spoilt our evening . Very disapoiting at the cost of non alcoholic drinks for the pub location when most people need to drive to venue. I wish yiu all the best but I will have to think about a return visit ?

Dec 2024 it changed to a Nepalese restaurant and bar. Both service and food done extremely well and customers are made to feel welcome and valued. Worth a visit and to enjoy some lovely food.

We ate here for the 3rd time on 4th January. Popped in early evening to miss the forecast bad weather. The welcome is always warm and friendly. We hadn't booked but they fitted us in. The food is really tasty and plentyfull. I went for the Chicken Jalfrezi. This is not a criticism but at other Nepalese restaurants 3 chillies on the menu which the Jalfrezi is would be too spicy for me but having eaten here before I realised they are not too spicy. We will be back to enjoy the food again quite soon 🙂

Wow! Finally a restaurant that has attentive service and great food. Cauli Manchurian was amazing and the boneless grill was brilliant. So, so good!

Would highly recommend a visit,the food was excellent and the staff plesent and helpful.we went midweek and there were tables available as we hadn't booked. It's still a bar if you just want a drink. I hope the local community will support the new owners. It's a couple of miles outside Alcester.

Went for a meal with my family. One of the best curry dishes I’ve ever eaten. Well worth a try. I’ll be sure to return when I’m next up near Alcester.

Have just returned from a meal here today (28th Dec) after I had heard about a new Nepalese style restaurant at one of my locals. Pleasantly greeted at the entrance door by the front of house staff and the bar had a good selection of beers, ales and cider. Bar and restaurant staff are brilliant and friendly, food is top class and well priced. Drinks are a little expensive in my opinion and it was a little quiet considering time of year. But overall, a really superb restaurant with a fantastic dining experience. Will definitely return for another meal.

We had our first meal here last night, and I have to say the Nepalese/Indian cuisine is some of the best I have ever tasted, and I've tasted a lot! The food was fresh, very tasty, and made to your preferred level of heat, all freshly cooked in the open kitchen in full view. The level of service is 5 star, despite being extremely busy, the front of house staff, bar staff, and waiting staff all go above and beyond to look after everybody, and the chefs are the jewel in the crown, outstanding! Thankyou Shesh, Al, Karan and the rest of the team, look forward to drinking and dining with you again very soon.

Outstanding would be my one word to describe tonight’s meal. The staff are so friendly and go above to make your evening special, very attentive and super friendly. The food is amazing, authentic and you can taste it is made from scratch and fresh food. The starters were brilliant and the main was just outstanding. I would recommend the clay pot dish which was full of flavour and taste. I would most definitely recommend and urge everyone to give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Only open 2 days. Went for lunch,was quiet been a Tuesday. We both had different curries. Poppadoms chutneys& nanny breads Both curries were delicious, not quite as hot as we like them but very tasty. A good selection of beers, Very reasonable pricing. Al the restaurant manager very friendly nice man. Good luck in your venture. I will be back in the new year

Being re-named and turned into an English, Indian, Nepalese gastro pub. Looking forward to trying it out!

Lovely country pub and restaurant

Had our worse meal ever on Sunday evening. The pork and chorizo meatballs for starters were cold in the middle. Chickpea curry for main was bland and flavourless, it seemed like it had come straight out of a can from the supermarket. It was served with 5 popadom crisps out of a packet. The panna cotta in a bowl was like custard with a horrible thick rubbery skin on top. No care at all seemed to be taken with our food.

Expensive, however well wirth the money

It is a great place for a relaxing beer and spot of food. A wide rangle of ipa, cider and lagers to choose from. The burger (mama hen) was amazing and full of chicken and more than ample portion of chips The staff members are cracking and not intrusive when your eating Well done 👏

Refurbishment is excellent..Good range of ales, staff friendly and helpful. First visit but very impressed..Give it a 5 once I've eaten there...

I had fish which was not cooked so returned it, to ne served ham egg & chips which wasn't fit to feed to the dog. It is bad to be served 1 bad meal but 2 is disgusting

Fabulous food - midweek holiday treat!

Delicious food from a very varied and unusual menu. Shame there were very few people in on a Tuesday night in half term but lovely decor too. Well recommended!

Absolutely disgusting! Both my mum and I are vegetarians, and ordered the vegan burger. The waitress who served us looked miserable and never apologised, after we were served a burger with chicken and bacon. We were appalled, and being a strict veggie, my mum felt physically sick! Working in the hospitality sector myself, I am appalled and can say that we will NOT be returning

Medium steak was over cooked also chewy so quality poor not worth the money very expensive close to 30 pound the meat had to be sawed Also fifthy table plus filthy hairy cutlery outside. No music outside utterly boring.Also spraying poison on a hornet inside the eating area is just gonna make food taste like poison. Not a good first impression. I am local expected better!

Very nice countryside place, cozy and atmospheric. Ideal for spending a family or romantic weekend. Haven't tried the food yet, but the drinks were nice.

New manager very unhelpful, clearly didn’t want to be there! Food all ok, apart from the chicken liver pâté, was tasteless and even our dog spat it out! Mentioned this to the manager, who just said he will pass feedback onto the chef! Won’t be visiting again Very poor experience and customer service

Food was great, good wheelchair access although the gravel car park wasn't great for my dad's motorised chair but nothing that wasn't sorted. Dog friendly. Food was incredible

Well, after giving this pub (our local) a 6th chance we won't be going back there again. A pre-booked (3 weeks ago) private function for 13 with use of the back room was totally lost on the system when we arrived. Pre-orders lost and the room not set up for us. Just totally ruined the whole get together. (Exactly the same thing happened at Christmas for a pre-booked meal). I have to give credit (hence 5 stars for service) to the temporary manager (apologies I forgot his name) who had been brought in from their other pub in Cheltenham to save what's left of the place. He had literally been dropped in it by useless x-colleagues who have now all been sacked. One of whom took our booking and never passed on any of the information. (If you're reading this, good luck in the big wide world you absolute lemon). The temporary manager did get all our orders out in good time despite there being 13 of us so thank you. Absolute shame this cosy Warwickshire pub is now back to an empty, poorly organised, over priced shell from what it once was. Why can't this bloody pub be the amazing place it should be!

Not many people in tonight,however the staff was fantastic and very customer focused and couldn't do enough for us,we very much enjoyed the food and I hope people will start going there again.my only negative would be the small carpark,but that is due to the new builds,so that's possibly having a impact on the business, we will be back

Had a really excellent Sunday lunch with friends after a walk in the area. Great service and really comfortable bar area. Everyone enjoyed their food and great value for the 3 courses. We felt very well looked after. Will return again. Baby and dog friendly.

Decent local pub, has been refurbished to a high standard, good food and decent selection of beers, dog friendly and good service. Definitely worth a visit

Passed by The Mother Huff Cap a few months ago and thought it looked a lovely venue for a family birthday lunch. Dropped in for dinner one evening and after a short chat with the staff decided to hold my 60th Birthday lunch there. A custom menu was agreed from the various available menus and pre-chosen by the 27 guests. On the beautiful (if rather warm) day drinks were enjoyed on the terrace as guest arrived before we moved inside. The staff couldn't have been more attentive, the three courses of food were excellent, perfectly cooked, on time and enjoyed by all. Thoroughly recommend The Mother Huff Cap!

Nic and his crew are brilliant. Having recently moved to Studley this place is quickly becoming our 'regular'. Never had a bad meal or beer.

Lovely pub. Few issues with the service and food. We ordered nachos which came without guacamole and sour cream and sent them back. They came back out and we were told there was no sour cream or guacamole. No alternative or refund offered. Staff all seemed to in need of training as the bar staff didn't know how to make a shandy.

Just popped in for a drink. We had the sharing platter. Wow what value for money. Gaffer was very welcoming. Definitely be coming back.

Popped in on spec whilst out for a drive. Had a 2 for 1 pizza offer on - pizza are all a bit different than the normal but delicious. Staff were polite, attentive & helpful. We will definitely be back to try something else from the very interesting menu.
