The Mossy Well in Haringey

Well kept real ale and lovely lasagne at very affordable prices. Service good, cleanliness fine and toilets better than most. We ate in the non-smoking back garden while others smoked in the front garden; the obvious solution to the current conundrum. No Muzak - hurrah!!! Impressed by security staff who ID checked anyone potentially underage with a very pleasant manner, gently persuaded a raucous table to turn the volume down and tactfully moved anyone who moved tables or chairs in front of the emergency exits.

Can't go wrong with the wide range of excellently kept real ales, under £3. Fantastic value, food well prepared, friendly, hardworking staff. Mixed clientele.

The acclaimed Thursday Wetherspoons curry night (16th May 2024, Mossy Well). Stone cold and right-angled rice as standard ! 2nd onion bhaji which allegedly comes with the large curry option also absent and told by waitress it only came with one. Waitress subsequently reneagued on message when shown menu by customer.

Absolutely disgusting bar/restaurant, run by a little curly haired weasel, sat down at a filthy table littered with plates & glasses, food all over the table and not a member of staff in sight to ask to clean it. Ordered food & drinks via the app, waited a good 15 mins and still no staff to clean this table. Eventually drinks arrived closely followed by the lukewarm food. Staff attempted to put the food down on the grubby table when I then asked again for it to be cleaned first. Finally we had a clean table. Food was terrible, the mixed grill was lukewarm at best. Ordered further drinks from the app and waited another 20 mins before they arrived. The vibe in this place is completely dead, staff, in particular the manager, are completely out of their depth in trying to run this place properly and have a dreadful attitude towards customers, definitely won’t return here, awful experience.

Good pub, massive back garden can't wait to go in the summer and a have a few drinks out the back. Typical pub with the oldies having ales and shots of pink Sambuca for the rest of us. Decent prices,

We used to come here quite often but since the pandemic haven’t been much. So it was nice to get in the warm on a rainy day. We went about 12:30 and got a seat OK. We chose the 5-bean chilli and the small fish and chips and mushy peas with drinks. Where in the world can you get a meal like that in pleasant surroundings for under £18. The food was great and thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will coming back soon.

It's very badly run blame mangerment and training of staff items left off your order ie no pepercorn sauce with your steak no mushroom they constantly .run out of wine glasses and processo glasses tables never cleaned you have to ask for them to be cleaned or clean it yourself place needs a good shake up I know it's cheap but that's no excuse for not doing your job properly or with alittle bit of pride

This is great pub, light and spacious and always very clean. However my experience has been ruin recently. I do understand that pubs and restaurants need to follow government COVID-19 regulations, however ordering via the app is very time consuming and despite only offering table service staff very rarely pass by tables and when they do, they seem to ignore your calls for attention.I do look forward to when we are allowed to order at the bar. In the meantime, I’ll be visiting smaller pubs.

Drink here quite often and you cannot beat it for quality and price. Good choice of food and drinks. The staff are very accomplished and polite, generally a well run pub.

Staff and security need customer service training and to learn some manners (don't know about everyone but a few we had to deal with for sure). Awful experience visiting this pub. The place itself is not Covid-19 safe at all. Tables not being wiped, let alone disinfected. Huge amounts of people not wearing masks inside when not seated and no attempt from the staff is made to control the situation.Weirdest thing - if you want to order a spirit with no mixer it is not possible as apparently this is the way the till is set up. So you would still have to pay for the mixer although you won't be having it. Never again!

Llegamos a musgo, en la puerta se ha dicho que espere en la puerta para sentarnos, lo suficientemente justo. . . . esperando un rato, nadie apareció, había una chica frente a nosotros, dijo, ella también ha estado esperando años, fui al bar, ¿qué tenemos que hacer para estar sentados? ? Ninguno de ellos pudo dar una respuesta, solo mírense el uno al otro. Al final nos sentamos a ordenar con uno de los miembros del personal. . precioso, después de 20 minutos, un chico viene con una bandeja de bebidas, obviamente no coincide con lo que pedimos, se disculpó, que otros 5 minutos, regresó con otra bandeja que no era nuestra orden nuevamente, de todos modos, en el y después de 30 minutos obtuvimos nuestra bebida, que en la segunda ronda obtuvimos lo mismo tratar como antes, no como nuestro pedido, nosotros, etc. etc. . lo siento de nuevo, pero eso es todo. Absolutamente estafa. . . . .

Mis cohortes y yo fuimos tratados absolutamente horriblemente en este lugar. No solo te acosan las 24 horas, los 7 días de la semana por los camareros intimidantes y groseros, ¡sino que también fuimos sujetos a una repugnante discriminación por parte de ellos! Como un grupo de 20 y tantos (edad, no cantidad) en un grupo de 6 para el cumpleaños de un amigo, un camarero se acercó groseramente a un camarero que tenía una relación personal pasada con un miembro de nuestro grupo, relacionada con razones controvertidas que no profundizaré en por el bien de su empleo. Cuando fue asignada a traernos nuestras bebidas, inmediatamente reconoció al miembro de nuestro grupo al que se negó a servirnos las bebidas por las que pagamos más de 30 libras y nos pidió que nos fuéramos. Tras una consulta, se negó a revelarnos por qué nos pidieron que nos fuéramos e insistió al gerente en privado que nos hiciera irnos sin una explicación de ninguna de las fuentes. Cuando solicitamos cortésmente un reembolso por nuestras bebidas no asignadas y el dinero se negó en lugar de que no recibiéramos nuestras bebidas, no recibimos ninguna ayuda del gerente ni de ningún otro miembro de la facultad y todo nuestro grupo fue forzado a salir de las instalaciones con sin explicación. Cuando solicitamos un reembolso simple por nuestras bebidas no obtenidas a la gerencia percibida, nos dijeron que "Reportáramos a los delincuentes" o que nos "empantanáramos" (por falta de una palabra mejor), lo cual fue impactante y repugnante de escuchar de una facultad establecida. , incluido el gerente diciéndonos lo que el camarero había exclamado groseramente traducido al italiano para mi amigo que hablaba el mismo idioma. Me sorprendió que el personal no llevara máscaras ni guantes. Se sirvió comida mientras el personal hablaba con nosotros, y estaban muy cerca. Se recogieron vasos vacíos durante nuestra comida. Me preocupa que se pueda seguir un mejor protocolo COVID. No culpo al personal de todos modos, eran encantadores. La comida era buena.

Spent quite a while here with friends. and 1 girl doing all of upstairs by herself we had amazing service and friendly. then when we were asked to go downstairs as upstairs closing she tidied all byself this girl then came down and we joke with her it's her home time but no came and tidy most of downstairs as well while everyone chatting well done lady (1 woman show) excellent service

Well where do I start with this pub me me and my wife attended this pub often but I can now see what the problem is when your ordering food if the pub gets busy you’re food is going to be cold. I ordered the pizza and my wife ordered the bbq melt with chips after waiting 30 minutes for the food my pizza was hot but my wife’s food was stone cold. Now what I don’t understand is the food was served at the same time. We was sitting next to the food service bar and we noticed that their was only 2 people serving people and we noticed that their was plates sitting their on the shelf getting cold this pub needs more staff to serve the food that’s why when you finally get your food it’s cold because it’s been sitting on the shelf getting cold this pub needs to sort this out

I have been to this pub many times and always enjoyed the food and service. Not today. I ordered a steak medium rare. When it turned up it was clearly well done with evidence of being burned on the outside. However i was starving so decided to eat it rather than send it back. Wrong decision as i then discovered everything on the p!ate was stone cold. I would have complained but the waiter who cleaned the table did not ask if we enjoyed the meal just took the plates without muttering a word. Shame on you!Afterwards we ordered a bottle of wine on the app which finally arrived 15 minutes later. Just the bottle, no glasses. Oh do you want glasses? No we're just going to pass the bottle from one to the other, what's a bit of spit between friends .......oh dear........

From the outside you could think it is a cafe, but no. This place has great selection of beers and pint costs less than 3£ in many cases.

The only pub i have found that charge 40 pence for a dash of black currant for a £1.60 half pint of guiness by order of the manageress

Huge pub cum restaurant on Muswell hill . Very very affordable drinks . Large bar and selection of drinks . Seating is good , so is the space . They have outdoor seating as well , which can be quite nice on a cold winter night .

Just had the signature steak in the Mossy Well. Superb😊. Good service and relaxed atmosphere. Good management on the day,Thankyou. I love this pub, but to be honest It depends who is manager on the day.

Beer and service were excellent. However the outer doors are chained open so that every time anyone enters or leaves there is a blast of cold air. Many customers sit there in their overcoats. This must be a colossal waste of heating

Used the Wetherspoons table service app for the first time, quick service easy to use. Party of three, two has the Traditional fish and chips and one had the drive through burger all dishes were served hot and delicious.

Warm and humble. Prices are affordable. Atmosphere and design is good and especially the garden is so nice.

Me encanta volver al pozo cubierto de musgo. Cuenta con dos hermosas áreas de descanso al aire libre, una en la entrada y otra en la parte trasera. Un montón de opciones para alimentos y bebidas. Siempre es un buen negocio, no importa qué día sea. El servicio es rápido y el lugar está limpio y ordenado.

No ice for over a week, how can a pub have no ice

I've been a regular to mossy well, over the months my service has been improved over the course of months. Particularly by a gentleman on the bar with black hair, quite messy, about 20s, I believe I heard his name as Mike? Micheal? Anyways, I'll always buy my drink from this lad onwards.

Service was poor and even a simple hot chips were revolting! I would not recommend the place to anyone.

A good relatively new Wetherspoons. Split level with a covered outside area. Sixties style seating. Problems with taps in mens' toilets.

Great venue but on this visit I was persistently served foul and cloudy real ale by staff who appeared not to realise there was a problem. A cloudy pint is not a good replacement for a returned cloudy pint!

Would give 0 if I could. Visited on 31.05.19 Was asked for ID with friends at our table upstairs in front of everybody which was embarrassing after we had already drank our alcohol. Surely we should be asked at the door, not at our table. Then security (tall foreign blonde man) asked me to take off my hat as he had asked another customer first and they pointed me out. Surely I should’ve been asked at the door or when he asked for my ID at the table (he said he didn’t look at me properly which made no sense as how did he ID me?). He then screamed in my face as I pointed out all of the other customers wearing hats and berets. Male manager was absolutely useless and rude and didn’t seem very aware of the rules. Food was rubbish and took ages to come. Wish I knew these selective “rules” before entering, would’ve never gone, never going back.

We will probably not be returning. Three of us anticipating the usual superb experience (last review) Well it quickly went wrong - items not available; meals delivered not as ordered; meals not delivered at same time. Firmly told by duty manager our fault we should state if wanting starter same time as other ... funny; menu doesn't show "starter" ... we did get a refund but attitude really so appalling we wrote to head office Customer Service ... today's response apologised for our experience but didn't address a single one of our issues. This is NOT what we have expected or experienced at any Wetherspoon pub before; we are bitterly disappointed

Very nice pub, big outside space at the back for nice summer days, good food, nice staff and drink and food very reasonably priced

Went here with family for a drink and was pleasantly surprised by the none smoking outdoor area at the back. Having sat down though, a nearby table was smoking. This was brought up with staff and then management but never stopped even though the group were spoken to twice. We eventually left as it was clearly not going to stop. A shame because the pub have clearly made the effort to establish an outdoor area that is smoke free although it’s pointless if they won’t enforce it!!

We have been to many wetherspoons and this is one of our favourites, the children love to come here every now and again.

Lovely to sit outside and have a drink to watch the world go by in a busy area. Typical Wetherspoons on the inside. Toilets were in an absolute state with a few taps broken off the wall and huge gaping holes in the walls (no idea why these haven't been fixed or closed off).

I ordered a round of drinks for me and my friends last night and never received the drinks due to it apparently going through after the last drink bell which is fair enough but when I asked the bartender for a refund she replied in a rather aggressive manner. Frankly I’m disappointed with the costumer service, I’m a regular and I’ve never been treated in this way. I’m still waiting for my refund.

We had planned to celebrate Mothering Sunday with a visit to the local cinema to see "Fishermen's Friends" (it was excellent!) and then to enjoy lunch at the Mossy Well. We were very lucky to find a space in a booth, chatted with an amiable gentleman and ordered ... the half rack of ribs was scrumptious; falling off the bone and tasty ... we left having thoroughly enjoyed our meal ... won't be lon before we return!!

Have drank and eaten here a few times now certainly a lot better than the wood green and turnpike lane Wetherspoons.

This is one of the nicer weatherspoons and has recently had a huge garden bit fitted out the back. Cheap but good Beer as ever and the food we ordered (2 ultimate burgers) came quickly and was decent enough for having paid under £15 for two beers, two burgers and chips.

Totalmente empaquetado, pero el servicio sigue siendo amable y muy eficiente. Buena variedad de cervezas de verdad bien conservadas, una pinta con pescado y papas más que aceptable para menores de 9 años. ¡Tenga en cuenta que conseguir una mesa puede ser difícil los viernes por la noche cuando los jóvenes se amontonan y comienzan sus fines de semana ya que sin duda tienen la intención de continuar!

Un almuerzo muy agradable con la familia. Cerveza bien conservada. Personal amigable. Últimamente no estoy muy impresionado con Wetherspoons y la calidad de la comida y la cerveza. El crédito es debido sin embargo, y hoy este bar es bueno. Vale la pena una visita por su cerveza bien cuidada y un personal amable.

Once again we went for the fish and chips. This week was exceptional for the fish and chips. As the range of drinks keep changing the waiter was unable to advise on wine, however he did try his best.

We like this place, but recently the quality of food is awful. On two occasions we have had to make a complaint and get our money refunded. Over cooked burger, Infact it was cremated then a Tuna Sandwich, you would serve up to a dog.

This was the first ever Wetherspoons and is one of the biggest I've ever seen. They have numerous different areas to sit in, all with their unique feel and ambiance including both a front and rear garden / terrace. Drinks were excellent quality and VERY cheap for London. Amazing spirit selection (particularly the Gin) and they even offer the order on your app, bring to your table service which was INCREDIBLE and delivered fast and with a smile. Couldn't fault our experience and we will be back. Only loses a dot as it wasn't overwhelmingly busy when we visited and the tables (particularly in the rear garden) hadn't been cleared for a while - but genuinely, a GREAT pub.

Don't sit at a table upstairs or at the back of the downstairs towards closing time. Last evening the four of us were seated at a table having a convivial time when at 11.30 we were ordered to move towards the entrance by a menacing security person who, having a poor command of the English language, was unable to give us a reason. As we were comfortably seated we were reluctant to move. However we were given to understand that if we didn't comply we would be barred. If you prefer not to be treated like sh*t you shouldn't come to this place.

This place's super nice, spaceful quality food and variety of drinks esp beers. It feels like a long way out of central London but its really worth it as prices are less than half of what you'll pay up in twon!! Cheers

Las mesas sucio y querido de nuestros clientes bastante claro. Asientos estaba sucio con manchas negras mostrando bastante claramente arraigado en el exterior, de nuevo sin ninguna atención o limpieza o cualquier esfuerzo para pensar en el cliente. Además Los menús estaban pegajosos y de nuevo no había sido limpiada o limpiada de nuestros cliente(s)

Hamburguesa, perro caliente, patatas fritas aros de cebolla y una bebida alcohólica sorprendió agradable y una buena relación calidad-precio con un ambiente agradable y mesas limpias, pisos y condimentos. Nos sentamos en una mesa acogedora y relajante leer el periódico, así que dependiendo de a qué hora vas tendrás un buen tiempo, suena como de las críticas de otras personas es evitar la noche con buenas intenciones.

The restaurant is an old building. Cleanliness leaves much to be desired. Dining tables are sticky even after being cleaned. Carpets are terribly dirty - it actually stains!

This pub was totally rammed to the rafters - as we vacated our seat an elderly couple who had been hovering near us dived into our seats - just as we had done when a group of lads had left earlier! This was the first ever Wetherspoons pub, and there is a timeline and photos on the wall. The ground floor is huge, and then there is a massive first floor as well. There is also an outside area, but this was closed off (possibly as it was raining hard).

Fish Friday is fun and Good Friday should be no exception. The fish was amazing however the chips were cold. Unusually we were asked how was our meal. We advised of our disappointment. A bowl of hot fresh chips appeared almost immediately. Bravo Mossy Well and our most efficient server.

Normally a good service. Today all the staff want to do is Talk amongst themselves and not Serve customers. Even so much as joking around, showing there backs to customers!

Generally as a rule I won't use wetherspoons but was here for a birthday. I was pleasantly shocked at how well set up it was. Really friendly staff & fantastic seating areas in and outside. Really nice pizza and a great selection of beers.

Edificio muy interesante con asientos al aire libre, con mucho espacio, pero sospecho que se llena en temporada alta. Buen lugar para tomar una copa con un montón de opciones. Fuimos para una comida con amigos, y en general la comida me pareció decepcionante. Mi curry estaba bien pero las papas fritas con el resto de comidas eran nulas frío y difícil de digerir, no estoy seguro de si habían sido recalentados. pescado que venían con fue bueno, bonito masa. Hamburguesas no genial. En general no es buena para la comida. El menú dio los habituales para una cadena con mucha variedad. Puedes pedir tu propia comida y bebidas en el bar y las comidas son entregadas a la mesa. El servicio fue rápido y eficiente. Disfrutamos de nuestra visita y la pasamos muy bien, es una pena sobre la comida.

Visitamos este pub recientemente el lunes por la noche y francamente me asombra por la cantidad de bebedores menores de edad en este establecimiento. He visitado las mohosas antes y me pareció un típico con buenas bebidas valor Wetherspoons y comida. Normalmente cuando he estado allí antes de la noche son doostaff si la visita no había! Estuvimos aquí en sábado para una cena ligera. Obtuve exactamente lo que esperaba. La comida era barata y fiable de la media. Pero el lugar, como con cada Wetherspoons he estado recientemente en estaba sucio. El personal que lleve su comida y volver a la cocina, nunca coger una placa utilizada desde las mesas sin estallar que parece estar en todas partes. Los platos y vasos se apilan todos los clientes en el pub como intento de borrar un lugar para sentarse. Nos sentamos al lado de una mesa sin recoger 12 durante dos horas. Been there many times, but i think it's time to review.Great atmosphere and cheap drinks... And you always can find a space to have a chat if it's too loud by the bar.

Impressive pub on 2 floors with child friendly garden and good disabled access. Has the feeling of a shopping mall at times because of the size and parents who allow their offspring to use it as a playground. Everything you would expect from this chain including slow service because of the coffee making. Good value for money though.

Friendly staff, good food , nice prices especially for LondonGood choice of food from fish and chips to Curries. The lamb shank was particularly good

Friends took us there and was expecting northern prices for the area. Really good menu with a beer on the meal deal. Great decking area at the back of the place. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Food lovely as was company. Well done to the staff at this place.

After my previous post about smoking in this pub I saw several reviews which seemed to indicate that there had been changes for the better. I revisted last night and discovered no change. this pub still stinks of smokers. With continual turnover of couldnt-care-less staff it will never change.. If you have children or you wish to have a pleasant meal then this restaurant is one to avoid

We visit Muswell Hill once a month and I always call in here at least once. I am a Wetherspoons fan but this pub is one of their best. Obviously you have the usual excellent ales, food, service and good value for money. However this pub has so many different sections that you can choose from the bar, the alcoves, the terrace, the beer garden, the upstairs all with their own atmosphere to suit your mood. I don't think that you will be disappointed here. Just wished I lived closer!

This pub has a great decor and atmosphere. Great value for money with a wide variety of quality beers at very reasonable prices. A great addition to Muswell Hill.

This pub is just okay. The bar staff aren't very good at knowing who's next in the queue and serve whoever is nearest. So, here's a tip - stand in the middle. After a few visits I haven't seen any of the waiting staff cleaning the tables, or picking up napkins from the floor. Many people bring small children, so there's a lot that ends up on the floor. They're not quick at clearing tables either. Glasses are left to pile up at the drop off area, which isn't very attractive. Most staff look like they would rather be elsewhere. But are pleasant enough. The older gentleman with the pony tail is very efficient. I have seen a lot of hair swinging by the younger ladies. Food is okay, but never changes and isn't very imaginative for vegetarians. Garlic bread consistently poor.

As a local in this pub it is not often I get the chance to eat there, but 2 weeks ago I went in for an afternoon drink with my wife and the smell of the curry got my taste buds into overdrive. we decided to eat there and I was very surprised at the quality of their curries . we ordered 2 different curries and shared them and they were very good indeed and for two meals and 2 drinks the bill came to less than £15. Amazing value and good quality food. To be visited again in the very near future.

We went to this pub on a Friday night to hang around with a few friends and catch up. Great location in Muswell hill for transport links. Nice plenty seats and drinks were reasonably priced. We didn't eat here but food looked good.

Dined here on a lovely warm Monday night I ordered the lamb shank with mash and vegetables this was delicious, my partner ordered the chicken and ribs which was also very good. Dessert was a knickerbocker glory for me and a sticky toffee pudding which was as good as the one that was had at the Hawksmoor. Staff came to check if food was OK a couple of times. Overall a lovely meal out will definitely vist again and the added bonus along with a drink each the bill came to £26 a bargain

We stopped coming here because until recently the bar service was terrible. It was not divided up, one end for ordering meals and the other for drinks only which meant an awful long wait to be served. But the last couple of times it's been much better - maybe they have more staff. Usually the food is good but on Tuesday my steak had lots of fat on it and was almost rare rather than medium. No-one came to ask if the meals were OK, or I would have mentioned it. There should be a lift going up to the upstairs seating area as it's difficult carrying drinks up the stairs.

This is a popular pub in Muswell Hill - and a wide range of ages - if you look young bring ID they carded everyone who looked under 18 Good selection of food as you would expect in a Wetherspoon's Couple of courses weren't good and a few unavailable puddings but staff refunded the cost. It was also flying ant night so after several complaints by other customers they stopped food going outside which was a pity as we wanted to be outside Nice place and very clean and huge amount of space so plenty of tables

Huge Weatherspoons where we struggled to get a table. Soon discovered why when we looked at the extensive menu and cheap prices.

Nice meal, drink and locale BUT then spoilt by stink of smokers sitting in non-smoking areas and puffing away. Staff not helpful at all. Will not be returning
