The Moon on the Hill in Harrow

It was more synchronicity than accident that the first Wetherspoons emerged from the first year of Thatcher: the rise of this business model walked hand in hand with the gradual erosion of the Working Men’s Club, where subsidised beer was part of the overall energy of what was on offer. Back in the day, men would sit so very loyally in these institutions, often finishing a shift, going straight there to either nurse beer or watch what entertainment on offer. It wasn’t urban myth that women of the seventies and eighties marriages would walk to these clubs and serve their men the dinner there, or come in for a row. The proverbial stay at home wife still exists, though today a far different creature, being kept happy with holidays, cars and home furnishings. This bar has an ignored tourist base: all Wetherspoons now, regardless of geography should be aware of the Arbnb market. But, like all chains, it has no hope of dealing with this energy, preferring instead to deal with the constraints of blanket brand approach. Here, moments away from the most exclusive boy’s school in the country exists a dogged Trinity: heavily pierced and tattooed staff with relationship interconnectivity with staff elsewhere in Harrow bars, gossip with customers that are not too happily married. 2 fiercely compromised gentlemen of note need really badly to hold court: one a compulsive gambler and self appointed Town Cryer/Snitch, the other a coke addict, needing cheap boooze and proximity to a nearby club that facilitates more time away from the missus. Both are guilty of rumour spreading to qualify for Anglo Saxon Village punishment. Further back from the seventies, gossips, snitches and muck spreaders were Cukked: bathed in excrement and shamed. The third aspect to this Trinity is the barring policy of Spoons. Here the really nasty alternative life of a post grad is eased with the power to barr. The town itself has the barring from this bar as a kind of weird Badge of Honor. Everyone who has it in them to give money to this institution has been barred at one time or another. Note that it took a huge amount of effort to have Greene King barr a very irritating individual claiming to be the cousin of Tim Martin. His very best friend sits here whilst others remain barred. Another visit is due. The poor social media (almost), says it all. Wetherspoons has it’s critics but remains a great brand. Reliability, social cohesion and a sense of history are it’s strengths. BUT, it has a tendency to be one thing in the centre of things and another in the suburbs and regions. It need not be so. A visit to The Beaten Docket in Cricklewood is where a traveller will find groups of guys playing cards, backgammon, enjoying each other without a whiff of a chance of one of them stabbing the backs of the league. Centrally located Spoons are a boon. If thinking that this bar represents brand or locale it serves, think again, go instead to the Three Wishes in Pinner or the Spoons in Baker St.

Ordered a meal, unfortunately the staff couldn't find my table so when I eventually received my food it was cold. 'My fault' they said even though the manager agreed that the tables were wrongly numbered. She then made a big fuss about replacing the food and said they would only replace some of the food and not all of it - they would reheat and re-serve the rest. Conclusion: Rough pub, fine I guess for a quick drink on the way home after a long day. Best avoided, tbh.

Always a smile and a great pint

We had dinner for a family 4. Now prices are cheap but cleanliness and hygiene standards are low. Menu they gave was so sticky had food particles and hair on it. They should keep it clean. Tables etc. Have system to order at Bar when busy so people won't push in and fight. Yes it's very cheap place for drinks and food but no compromise on hygiene standards. I wonder how kitchen is?????

We were staying about a 10 minute walk away for a weekend in London. We went here for late drinks when we came back to Harrow each night and for breakfast one morning where we could sit outside in the sunshine. Couldn't really find any fault with this well managed Wetherspoons. I hope the locals continue to support it.

Today, July 15, 2024, around 10 o'clock in the morning, I was served by a bartender who was very friendly and made my day better. I would recommend the pub to be a little cleaner, but overall, it wasn't too bad.

Genuinely felt like I'd arrived at the scene of a zombie apocalypse. Desperate stuff.

I’ve visited this place a few times, including today, and it’s consistently been a perfect spot that fits any budget. The service is quick, and today’s atmosphere was especially great as we watched the Portugal vs France match. I’ll definitely be coming back more often.

Don’t think I’ve ever had a breakfast this bad: - hash browns half cooked - scrambled egg undrained basically soup - fruit bruised and soggy defo not fresh - no butter with toast - no tea/ coffee - un-easy atmosphere - staff look exhausted, forgot half our order. Defo avoiding this spoons moving forward.

They have the cheapest alcohol.

Pints were good. Wrong food arrived and went to the bar to show them. Manager straight away admitted a mistake on their part and offered a refund and organised the correct meal. Very good customer care. Would go back again.

Been to loads of weatherspoons but this one was the worst one we visited The place was very dirty and the food was gross everything we tryed to order was out of stock in the end we ordered the all day breakfast which had things missing of the plate and instead of fried eggs they gave us cold and wet scrambled eggs

Smelly and quite dirty with poor unprofessional service where staff are taking the lowest possible approach to customer service. Excellence certainly isn’t on their agenda. Tables with uncleared used items, chairs all over the place, toilet’s smell of urine. De-fumigate yourself both from the atmosphere and the grubbiness.

Staff are always really friendly to us. Food isn't too bad and you get what you pay for with big portions. Drinks are cheap and cheerful. Can get a bit busy on weekends with a varied crowd but you know what you get with a weatherspoons sometimes.

Walked in yesterday and was treated to the absolute worst smell ever like it was a poo party in there disgusting walked out as soon as I came in

Space is smaller and worse than other branches I have been to. Food is good but some prices are higher than at Northolt branch. Men's loo has only one toilet which I opened to use and someone was there already! Not lockable, I presumed so, didn't use.

Overall I would not support this company as I have been trying to contact head office about a serious issue, and I keep getting pushed aside or ignored by the area manager. As a company you would expect a good customer service and trying to sort out the issues and not ignoring the issues and not to mention supporting everyone equally. This place is really unfair and toxic of how people are treated and there is a lot of staff favouritism. This is not right as others are treated poorly while some get anything due to other reasons…There was an issue before never been resolved fairly and now it’s happening again while one person from before faced all the punishment while a manager got away with everything from the serious issue. As the area manager said “it’s harder to replace a pub manager” doesn’t mean it makes it right. The pub manager just bars people out of anger without doing anything and once you bring it to the area manager it is fake promises again. I just hope people see this and do not support this company due to how people are treated spitefully.

Exceptional Spoons, did Black Dragon and service was incredible, taking little over a minute. Nice steak too and great value for money.

This has become the spot to go to for quick evening drinks and catch up for my family, friends and I. I really love the chips and deep fried chicken.

Having breakfast and coffee( from that kind of coffee machine which you choose and press button by yourself) with my husband this morning. Food is average, but drink is horribly watery. Then in the afternoon we both started to feel sick to our stomachs and wanted to vomit. I feel like cold from my inner body and start to have fever at home. We ate nothing after breakfast, cause our stomach really feel sick.

I couldn’t believe how I was treated in this pub I recently came from abroad and they couldn’t allow me with my international Identity card. My ID say am allowed over the age to go to a pub and have a drink. But the staff didn’t allow me inside. Humble request that the branches start allowing that.

Most of the times we go there a lot of food is out of stock!! How can’t they have Curry if it is curry night?? How can’t they have Christmas dinner during the Christmas period?? Why the app never works properly???

Staff is very poorly behaved. I had been served, i was not asked my Id prior to service. The staff tried to confiscate from my drink from my hand without allowing me to furnish my id. Very disrespectful staff.Do not recommend coming here.

Good. Wetherspoons had a good choice of food. We had a small bite of ham, egg and chips. Busy in this Wetherspoons but we managed to find a table. Tea was a free refill. So handy to help yourself. It has been awhile since I visited any Wetherspoons.

Ordered food and drinks with the app. The drink my friend and I ordered, ginger beer, has never been served here so had to change our option. My friends drink arrived with a huge lipstick mouth print so that went back as did my fizzy drink which was warm despite the ice 🤔 The veggie bean chilli was tasteless so I ate it with lots of the mango chutney. Not my best Whetherspoons experience but the staff were really nice and helpful, the only redeeming feature, sadly 😭😭

Went to the Moon on the hill for breakfast. Sat in a booth and noticed dead flies on the back shelf. Tables weren’t wiped. Ordered a breakfast and had a long hair in my food.

I wasn't aware that there was a wetherspoon pub in Harrow on the Hill until today. I found it decorated nicely with modern fittings and new chairs. Great service in great surroundings

I was waiting for a burger for 30 min. They bring a drink for one person and after 20 min for another person. Very rude staff, not friendly.

Good spoons, albeit quite small. Limited menu. The panani I had was rock hard. I like the place, though, and will probably return when next in Harrow.

If you've never experienced a great British Wetherspoons then do so. Good pub layout with loads of seating, always decent popular food at practically unbeatable prices (especially in London)

June 3, 20:40 I ordered 10 chicken wings and I specified not to burn them. Nothing. Everything burned. When there is this manager (woman), everything always goes wrong. It's not the first time. You all go into Kingsbury near the bus stop . Everything is best , service , food , everything 10 small burnt chicken wings . the wings should be juicy not black and dry

The service was very slow but the pub was very busy so my wait from order to table was over 45 minutes the food was OK but not upto the chain standard and some how I ordered the wrong desert twice?

Visited Wembley last year. Stopped here for Breakfast before the game. Excellent. Fast forward twelve months. Entered the pub and was looking forward to a pint of Blue Moon. Not in stock. Ok Shipyard then, not in stock. So San Miguel it is then. Bingo. My friend wanted a pint of Coors. Guess what out of stock. The breakfast was good though. However the pub was clearly short staffed. A point that was made by the manager, who did apologise when I pointed out that a young lad was serving on his own. Instead snapped that she had to cover the kitchen put an order away. Customer are not really interested in that. So overall a disappointing visit on this occasion. Not sure this pub will cope with the play off weekend from 27th May.

Must of been the smallest wethersoons we have ever been in was going to have a meal there but didn't feel comfortable as it was so small and only the odd table free

Best spoons in the UK, as lovely as it can get. And also the staff is world class. Curry can’t be beaten, it makes me stiff in the morning, beats india by a long shot and I lived in Delhi for 20 long years.

Weather Spoon at Harrow on the Hill (May 11, 4:35 PM) During my recent visit to your restaurant, I had a disappointing experience with one of your bartenders. I arrived with a friend and approached the bar where two bartenders were present. One of them took my friend's order for two beers, while I politely asked the other bartender if they had still water available. Ordered breakfast muffin deal includes coffee refill but I was charged extra 1.45 pound just because I didn’t asked for the cup refill .The guy was very rude and very unprofessional.
