I came with my sister and we were really impressed with the new decor! Although very disappointed that the pool table is gone! Lunch was lovely I had wings with hot honey sauce and my sister had the vegan burger. They were both really good. Seb & Paul were really hospitable, friendly and chatty. Thanks for a lovely visit! The Monkhams is so friendly and relaxing. They also make our dog totally welcome with their fantastic dog menu, free treats & water, plus bowls. Human Food & Drinks are great too and served quickly! Monkhams is a great place to eat and drink for all occasions inside and...with its large lovely garden spaces too. It's now much improved after it's latest big refurbishment with an even bigger capacity. A good selection of food and drinks also... with a good friendly atmosphere, a special mention for Sammy and Lucy behind the bar who frequently serve me always with a happy greeting smile 😊 many thanks 👍

We came to the princess breakfast for Easter. It was lovely. My little one loved seeing ariel and pocahontas. They where really friendly the pub was nice and clean. Breakfast was so yummy. Such a great start to our Easter thank you team monkhams x

We held my daughter’s baby shower here in the upper outside area. Arrived early to put up some decorations and the staff were so very helpful. They offered to help and then popped out a few times to make sure we were ok and to see if we needed anything. We had pre-ordered a finger buffet a week earlier and the chef was very helpful in assisting with choice and advising on numbers to cater for. The food came out, there was plenty of it and it was well received by everyone! Would definitely recommend looking at The Monkhams as a venue! Thank you to all the staff who helped make the afternoon a success.

I was here with my friend after not being able to see her for months and after a very hard day at work was looking forward to a catch up and a relaxing evening. This did not happen, far from relaxing. Was looking forward to our first drink. Had to wait 45mins for our first drink. We asked numerous times for them. My friend then ordered a drink in the hope this would arrive sooner. Only to be met with you need to use the app. Being told I can't serve you if you don't. The app is not good its difficult and very slow. Eventually she was served. Yet again a wait. The two people sitting on the next table used their app and waited over an hour for food after asking numerous times they got it after us. The staff came across harassed and they were apparently short staffed. It seems to me that this so called app has replaced human contact with staff. One member of staff said its because we are so busy and offered a free desert. Sorry but I don't eat desert. It was not a pleasant evening. The management need to provide more staff. Of course it was busy we have all been shut in doors for months. Come on Greene King you can do better than this!!!!

Had an excellent lunch on the 24th of May , The service was great the food was delicious. Was served by Paige she was so lovely and very helpful as she explained everything we needed to know about how to order and greeted us with a smile.

Went here and firstly they double booked our friends table and there is currently the rule of six so we told out friends to come sit on our table because they had double booked their table which made seven of us. We then ordered drinks which after waiting half an hour for I went into the bar and asked where they was and they said the bar was shut this was at 7:45 and they didn’t tell us it was shut. We was then told to leave because previously there was seven of us but by this time there was only five so I asked for a refund which they said they cannot give. So they ruined my whole night and stole my money. The manger was really rude and didn’t want to come up with a solution to the problem. He couldn’t control anyone there and people were just walking into the pub without a booking meaning there was no social distancing which lead to him calling the police. There is a simple solution and that is controlling the amount of people also there is a load of under age drinking going on and nothing is done about it.

Visited the pub today with my son on his day off and made the most of the BOGOF Burger deals. He had the 'Smoking Jack' Burger with Mac & Cheese on his fries and I had the Double Daddy Burger with Mac & Cheese & Bacon on my fries. weather was sunny at times although when it's behind the clouds a little chilly. Let’s consider what we have all been through this past year and a bit. We have all been so desperate to get back to normal and that includes getting back to the pub! Well, it’s been worth the wait!! Clear and easy to follow COVID guidelines. Welcoming atmosphere, especially from Paige, who, bless her looked cold sitting out on door duty!! But a warm welcome nonetheless!! Certainly glad to be back!!

Tried the Monkhams today, first time for many years, greeted by Jamey, very nice helpful chap, made all 4 of us welcome, lovely beer, good atmosphere, all boxes ticked, could not fault it at All, nearly as good as THE UNICORN at Clayhall, comes a very close second, will go again for sure, THANK YOU .

Very poor experience due to the male host. Seated at a table after almost 2 house he rushes over to tell us to abruptly leave as he needs this table back, I explained we just ordered more drink and dessert and that they have 6 other empty tables around us! He told us our reservations was only for 1.5 hours but he seated us and never explained this and said we could have 15 min more. After finishing our drinks and dessert (25min extra) he again tell us we need to go! All other 6 tables still had no people seated at them yet so why did he need this specific table? Worst experience ever, this guy should not be in a customer facing job as he was extremely rude with no common sense. Definitely he is a massive letdown to this business as we will not be going back.

We came for a quick Sunday roast with my partner. We were greeted by a man who asked us if we booked a table. (He didn’t seem to be in a very good mood to say the least) Answer was no. Then he sat us at a table right next to the toilets when the pub was nearly empty at 20.00pm.We placed an order for 2 beers and 2 burgers. Burgers came out in about 2 mins which makes no sense cause it would have taken longer that to grill. Buns were cold and patty way too greasy. A bar staff came to tell us they didn’t have what we ordered. We then asked for a different beer. Two mins later they came back to inform they didn’t have that either. We ended up getting beers that are cheaper than what the original order was and no one came to inform us. Even when we had to get an extra beer because we weren’t happy with what arrived they made us pay again. Real shame!!!!We’re locals and wanted to try the pub for the first time. Very disappointing. I did like the mac’n’cheese chips though :-)

Went in for lunch with an old friend and a catch-up. Starters was nice, mains came out whilst still eating which was sent back. When it did come back out was dried. Quick chat with the Manager and she immediately got the problem rectified and was very polite and professional. Our server (Young lad) very polite and friendly nothing too much trouble.

The food is terrible! anything that is fried is soaked in grease-oil! from kids menu chicken came raw pink inside! salad dry and dirty... i mean its a horrible place and also stinky inside.Drinks came warm.We have been here 7 times and each time it is worse that previous.We live near by so we always hear them at 00:00 night them recycling glass bottles :(

Service was fine for drinks, but main meal took over an hour to be served. The wine and prosecco was warm, which we didn't enjoy. Food was fine and everyone enjoyed it - when we got it.

Me and a few friends came in yesterday to have dinner and a few to drink. The service and staff were lovely but the food was god awful, Chicken barely cooked and the steak was ordered rare and came out well done. We left the pub shortly after and ate else where which is a shame because the staff were brilliant.

I have visited loads of Hungry Horse pubs but this is the best so far... Everything I have seen that night on a very busy night the pub was really managed well. All the staff was running around doing such great jobs. Rosie is a very lovely young lady who always bought our drinks to the tables very fast, and always kept the garden clean.The managers were outstanding on that night just so professional and made sure everyone was keeping safe distancing (although at first is a bit confusing, but I did get the hang of it). THE FOOD IS YUMMY, and everything is so cheap. I will be definitely be coming back to this pub again. I felt very welcome, also very safe - thank you everyone on that night

Visited this pub with my partner some time ago and decided to give it another go. Glad I did as the service and atmosphere has changed for the better. The team look happier and the place is cleaner. The food which is why I returned is it’s usual high standard. Would recommend to anyone to go and give this place a go.

Monkhams review We, a group of 5 mums and their toddlers, used to go there every Monday after a nearby toddler class to this pub. Sometimes there is no milk for coffee, other times the coffee machine is out of order, sometimes there are no fish fingers cause the delivery guy didn’t make it. There was even a time it wasn’t open at all at the usual lunch time. There was no notice anywhere. When we knocked on the door, a builder came out to say it was closed. But we still kept going there out of convenience though it was just another grubby pub. But one of the staff crossed it’s boundary when we went there one time. The guy at the till had a go at me for making a mess at the table and I have the quietest of kids. We have been going there for more than 6months. We are just a group of normal mums who get really apologetic if our kids misbehave and tend to tidy up well after our kids or so we thought. We normally order fish fingers and peas anyway. The guy at the till was quite intimidating and threatening accusing me over and over that we leave it messy and me politely replying that we do clean up after. After a point I got tired of his intimidation that I decided to leave with my hungry toddler without ordering any food. If they had mentioned it to us at any point we would have taken extra care. He was so angry and full of contempt and sarcasm for us. He was quite graphic at how he had to crawl under the table and clean our mess!! Most of the mums were still apologetic. Given me quite a scare though that we will never be going there again. This just happened to be the day after woman’s day. The whole planet just thanked us y’day realising the struggles that mums go through and today this happens!

Great family atmosphere, great service with a smile. Very friendly attitude from staff all the time. Very good food quality with so many different deals. Excellent value for money. Cannot stop spreading the word around, and friends are staring to come as well more often due to all the qualities as a casual family friendly pub.
