Popped in and picked up a panini today to take away. A lovely buzzing atmosphere and super friendly staff. The panini was slightly more than I expected to pay however it was super tasty and they didn’t scrimp on the filling. So it was worth it, I will be back with the family to try more things.

Stopped for quick bite as was dog friendly.. quite expensive for a basic sandwich and drink. Busy and most tables were in use, it’s very small inside, as are the tables. owner or manager must have been to suppliers as for the duration of our meal he barged in and with various packages. He was very loud and spoke to staff and customers in quite a curt manner. Reminded me of Basil Faulty.. I couldn’t wait to leave.. food was ok, other staff lovely.

We visited this deli this afternoon (9/2), after being welcomed by the lovely lady reassuring us the pram was welcome inside the cafe. All staff were very welcoming and friendly, and were very accommodating to my 2 children. Coffee was lovely, and the 2 scones and slice of chocolate cake was delicious! Would definitely go back if in the area.

I visited here flying solo with my two young children (aged 6years and my baby at 9months). It was a little congested to get in with the pram and no highchairs are available due to limited space. However the staff (one lady in particular) did everything possible to help me. I fed my daughter in her pushchair. I had the most delicious goats cheese wrap and my son enjoyed his croissant (which was actually two) and he loved it. Delicious decaf coffee for me. Baby changing facilities weren't available again due to limited space but a lady staff member made me a makeshift area for this. She also very kindly chatted to my son and gave him some drawing so I didn't have to drag him along. She was so kind and made a real fuss of him. All staff went out their way to make my trip a success. I'm so grateful and will definitely be back. Thank you all.

Watching a woman from a mixed race family walking up to the Mockingbird Yarm and look in horror at the unacceptable 'artwork' proudly displayed in the window. Watching the same woman pull her young daughter away from the same image so she didn't have to see it. Needless to say they did not enter the shop. Neither did I. How any one can proudly display such an offensive item I do not know. And don't say there are two ... supposed butlers! One is a classic 'Jeeves' character and one is entirely different.

This morning i thought i would have a breakfast and a coffee as i came in with my wife about 3 weeks ago and enjoyed everything about it including the 4 legged friend's. Im registered disabled with needs that I have to address everyday. I was involved in a very bad accident a few years ago which left my right leg and my right arm smashed so whenever I go anywhere I position myself where I’m least likely to get banged as I’m still undergoing treatment and rehab on both my leg and my arm. my arm sticks out in a 45° angle and I need to tuck it in whenever I go past things because my arm does not bend, I have to be sat in a place where my arm is tucked away and is unlikely to be knocked this is preservation of my health it is to stop me getting injured more and the embarrassment of somebody hitting it and me being in pain and it’s just being Sensible. when I went into the mockingbird this morning I got asked if I would sit at a two seated table which is fine because I was on my own but instead of sitting in the middle of the room i asked if I could sit in the corner that i had sat in before as no one was there anyways and the young lady said that was fine so no issues. so I sat down, I’m looking at the menu and while deciding what I was having which was going to be a breakfast and a coffee a gentleman came across and asked me if I would go and sit in the seat that I was asked to sit in originally and I explained to him that I have a disability with needs that i have to address and the suitability of that table explained to him and I must address, where he went oh that’s fine it’s just that dogs come in here and we like them to be in a corner ( but there were 2 dogs already in there and not in corners ) and I explained that my arm doesn’t move and I would like to sit in the corner to stop my arm getting banged, yeah that’s alright he said but then he continued behind the counter to explain to me the dogs like to go in the corner which I said i was more than happy for that to happen but he insisted that I left the corner, to that I got up as a would be paying customer to leave the corner empty for a non-paying dog to come in at some point. At WHAT point is it more acceptable to allow a dog that wasnt in the cafe to take precedence to somebody who has a disability. I left feeling humiliated and left. I felt really belittled when leaving and very upset for that reason I won’t go back again now and yeah it’s unacceptable

Called in for bite to eat and a coffee early morning last week. Had read reviews so looked it out and glad we did. Small dog was welcome. Food was well cooked/prepared and the cappuccino was the best I’ve had outside Italy. Not milky coffee. No chocolate on top to disguise lack of coffee. Delicious. Service efficient and the background music was brilliant. Thank you.

Really disappointed at the staff’s service/attitude towards us today! We were expected to eat and drink from a table the size of a napkin. There was no room to manoeuvre items around. They left the food and saw no reason why this would’ve been acceptable. When we asked if the adjoining equally laughable sized table could be joined to our table , we were told that they could not do that. After sometime when we had already started eating ( or rather trying to) , we were then offered a bigger table but the staff made no effort to move our food or drinks , we ended up doing it ourselves. They then charged us for items that were already paid for. We only realised it as we were leaving . Overall made us feel unwelcome and staff were either ignorant of customers needs or just couldn’t give a ****.

The tea and beer was super expensive. We were given 1 tea pot with 1 tea bag and 3 small tea cups. Charged almost £12 for it all..My beer was almost £4.00! But that wasn't the biggest problem for me although it seemed they couldn't agree on anything's prices when we went to ask about them politely. The manager was quite rude, even aggressive to my partner's mum which was horrible to witness. I had to get her out of there as it seemed like he was about to jump from behind the counter and bite her. I feel like that manage/owner doens't seem to have the personality to work in the service industry!

We visited with our family on Tuesday. We had a pot of tea for 3 and a small bottle of beer. I liked the miss matched China cups and saucers and the pottery tea pot. Very quaint. Lovely. We sat outside, also lovely. Then we chatted about the cost. £11.78. I sincerely thought an error had been made. I went into the cafe, which was empty, and started to speak with the young waitress behind the counter. I explained what we had ordered and asked what the price was for a pot of tea for 3 and a small Perroni beer. She started to explain, when I assumed the owner joined the conversation. He said a cup of tea is £2.75 per person, and the price we had been charged was correct. During this brief conversation, I was looking around for a price list, which I was unable to find. I questioned his price and expressed the view that he was charging London prices. He told me to go to return to London then and it would be best if I didn’t visit the north. He then proceeded to ask me if I was aware of his overheads etc. I found him rude and aggressive. Perhaps a few lessons in public relations would not go amiss. I checked the prices of the cafe next door when we left - Treats, I think it was called. You can get a pot of tea for 2 for £2.70. Guess where we’ll be going next time we visit Yarm.

Visited yesterday. The food was fine, but ...... one of the customers had a dachsund dog on her knee. The dog had its feet on the table for some 15 minutes (in spite of a sign saying "paws on the floor" and the waitress passing the table quite a few times whilst the dog was standing on the table), and the dog was licking the table. When the customers with the dog left, the waitress simply brushed the crumbs on the table onto the floor with the back of her hand and did not wipe the table down. I told the waitress, who said it was disgusting, but did nothing to wipe the table down before the next customers were seated. Not at all impressive hygiene standards!!! Parked in CoOp and walked to find a coffee, plenty of choice, we walked through the market which was hustling. We eventually found the MockingBird. a quirky decorated double fronted Bistro/ \coffee shop. On the counter were a tempting array of eatables, my friend liked the look of the carrot cake. The waiter brought our coffees and the cake over to where we were sitting on stools in the window. Moments later my friend exclaimed that this was the best carrot cake she had ever tasted. The coffee was average, lacking any depth of flavour. You smile when you go to the Loo!

Good coffee and delicious cakes. Lots of locals and regulars in here. A really good vibe and the kind of place that makes you feel welcome. Well done all at the Mockingbird Deli, what you have created is the perfect retreat

We stopped off here for a morning coffee and a cake as we passed through Yarm. This cosy deli has a mismatch of furniture, wall art etc. Every time I looked at a wall or shelf I discovered something else of interest. It was busy and had atmosphere. We only had coffees and I chose to have a fruit scone. My expectations was a cold scone with butter and jam. The reality was the scone when delivered to the table had been cut in half and toasted on what must have been a Panini machine. I have to question why? If I wanted this item toasted I would have asked for it. If it is standard practice to toast their scones, then they should at least have given me the choice. Toasting makes me wonder if it was freshly baked or whether it needed toasting to freshen it up. Really sorry to comment on this but you didn't please this customer!

My visit was at 5pm on a Friday evening, so it was pre rush hour for the late evening crowd. The staff were very friendly and they had a good selection of tea to choose from. The atmosphere was very relaxed and we were actually the only people in, but did not feel like they were listening into our conversation at all.

Very cosy and welcoming cafe, small inside and gets very busy at peak times. Food interesting and generally very good standard - although sometimes it takes a while to arrive, or for the table to be cleared. Coffee really tasty, although cups are all fairly small size and there doesn't seem to be the option to ask for a large. Prices on the high side of acceptable.
