I went for mix grill and wos very tasty and good proportion, im a big lad and struggling to eat all .good experience again ,definitely i will be back . Great sérvice and good price

Small intimate restaraunt with lovely atmosphere. Service and food were great too. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed ouselves.

1st time here tonight. Doesn't look much from the outside but staff and food make up for it. We booked for a time before a show at the Forum. Recommended as it got very busy closer to show time. We had a special 2 course menu which had loads of choice. I had black pudding then a risotto with beef strips. Both quality, taste and size of the dishes were generous. Then topped it off with salted caramel Creme brule! Other tried other dishes and were equally impressed. Definitely will be returning.

Great atmosphere, lovely friendly attentive staff, but the food isn't the best. There's far too much choice on the menu. I had the pollo pancetta, it's a bit odd that it came with what can only be called the blandest 3 pieces of veg and boil in the bag rice. It didn't taste horrible, just not what I'd expect in terms of quality. The pizza was a bit odd, I'd have thought sun-dried tomatoes may have worked better, and the crust was far too thick. The carbonara tasted like it was a microwave sauce or a ready meal, definitely not authentic Italian carbonara. Again, the food wasn't horrible, but it's not amazing.

Lovely place, staff very friendly. We called in today on the off chance of getting a table and were greeted by a lovely lady who seated us. The food was absolutely beautiful, lovely and fresh. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem, I would highly recommend and the steak sandwich is beautiful along with their amazing chips

Food was amazing, lovely and fresh and full of flavour, and the chips are simply the best. I would highly recommend this hidden gem.

The best of the La Porto restaurants.

Only when ones easy to see they are falling behind needs a facelift covid has took its toll on a lot of places. Just needs to put a new fresh look on it . To be in with a chance.

Early evening visit to La Porto for a family meal food was really good and service was excellent will definitely be back.

From getting there to leaving it was clear they wanted us out so they could lock up. When sprinkling the very small spoon of parmesan one of our party politely as for a little more ( you could hardly taste it ). He was given a small sprinkle. Not a thing was said by the server. Imagine our surprise when on the bill and extra 50p was added. So tight. I get restaurants need to make a profit but at least tell customers. Won't be back. Felt unwelcome. Didn't ask if meals were ok until we had finished.

Mussels tasted of washing up liquid, horrible, didn’t eat them, sent them back. Ravioli had a weird nasty after taste too. Olive nibbles turned up with my main which was all wrong. Wine was ok.

Been here several times with my mum and our family. The staff are very attentive and when my mum has come by herself, have always helped her if she needs anything cutting up etc. Food is delicious - we usually go for the lunchtime specials. The Porto special sandwich is delish!! The main menu is always lovely too and my little one loves the kids pizza - 5 out of 5 apparently so high praise indeed! They also have a lovely brunch menu. Highly recommend for a quick bite or a meal with the family. Always lovely.

Went for my birthday in may a party of 4 adults and we agreed we throughly enjoyed ourselves not just the delicious food but also the service from the friendly woman who really looked after us . Will definitely return for great service and food ,thank again.

Honestly can’t believe the good reviews on here. It is laughable that they call themselves an Italian. Pizzas are like something out of Aldi (actually Aldi are better), base rock hard and nothing like an Italian pizza. Pasta recipes are not Italian, never known an arrabbiata have any veg in it. The light above us wouldn’t stop flashing and the staff weren’t bothered that it was bothering us and did nothing about it. The staff weren’t very helpful and missed parts of the order. Won’t be returning.

Ate at La Porto 4th May at 8:00 p.m. with two of our friends, we were really surprised when we arrived, to find that we were the only customers in the restaurant and that they had stayed open to accommodate us, at the earliest time that we could arrive due to other commitments. As usual the food and service was amazing and we didn't feel hurried in any way, given that we were the only customers. It seems such a shame that a restaurant which serves delicious food as La Porto is not supported by customers after the early evening specials finish. Hopefully the evening business will pickup for this very lovely restaurant and it's staff.

Ate here tonight. Disappointing food. Maybe I'd try again with a different order. Tagliatelle carbonara was bland and lacking in size, chocolate brownie i had was terrible. Others in the group had the cheesecake, which they liked but it was tiny. Serve staff were great but forgot about my drink order until reminded.

My sister, brother-in-law and myself decided to try this restaurant for our recent pre-theatre dinner despite reading some of the negative comments on this site. Boy are we glad we went there as the food was excellent, the staff brilliant and the restaurant ambience perfect for a busy Italian restaurant. We will definitely eat there again and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves Italian food.

We called tonight for a meal with my wife we had pasta mussels and stake with pepper corner sauce every thing was fantastic service food fab pepper corn sauce to die for thank you 😊 🙏

Went here on Saturday with a group of friends before the Theatre how dissapointing. Will definitely never eat there again. I ordered a diet coke without ice it came with ice 🤷‍♀️ I ordered a La Porto veggie sandwich on gluten free bread , the waitress came back and said no gluten free bread, considering there was several things on the menu with gluten free bread as a option and it was a Saturday, you would of thought this small requirement would of been available. So I ordered the La Porto veggie sandwich without the bread and was told by the waitress I would after to pay the the full price of the sandwich even though I was not having any bread I said not a problem. Expecting to receive roast peppers, mozzarella with pesto, salad and coleslaw no no what I received was chopped broccoli, courgette, black olives, green olives and a side salad of spinach leaves with a drizzle of oil. When I asked the waitress why have I not got any mozzarella cheese or coleslaw she replied you can have some but you will have to pay for a portion. I was left in total discuss because the La Porto veggie sandwich comes with mozzarella and coleslaw. I have eaten in there Norton branch and never experienced this dreadful service and attitude from the waiting staff before.

Absolutely appalled by the food that was served off the children's menu to my son...this was chicken strips and chips..this would not even be suitable for a toddler never mind a 9 year old child. I advise anyone who has a child over the age of two year old not to order off the children's menu

We actually went to Stockton Riverside one but I cant find it on here, Everything was so Lovely, Nice happy friendly staff, we were able to pick a table of our choice, lovely food and we werent pestered at all by the waiting team it was very good , it was a little cool inside but fine with us, Music was great, all round a great experience and the best bit Cash only so Big thumbs up from us . It was my daughters 18th so we were happy we tried there we will be back .

Amazing food and fabulous service. Always made to feel so welcome, it's like dining with your best friends and family. Our favourite place to eat. Absolutely blown away with the quality every time we visit. First visit since COVID, so pleased to see that apart from social distancing and exceptional sanitisation, this place is exactly the same. Fabulous food, very friendly service and so good to be back. Missed dining here, but we'll have to try to make up for it!! Still magnificent - no better place to dine. Wonderful food and such a personal service. Love it!!

Food was terrible, I got a calzone and it was very undercooked. The ends were raw and doughy. They top was burnt though and the spinach and mushrooms weren’t cooked so it was very wet inside. The building was freezing cold inside as well. Always had decent food from here but won’t be going back. Seems to have gone down hill with food when looked at recent reviews. Edit to add answer to the owner: I didn’t eat all the pizza, left huge chunks of raw dough. The building was freezing. I can see you’re getting angry at bad reviews rather than taking it and fixing the issues!

My other half had some stuffed mushroom with cheese and tomato, it was literally a raw mushroom with half a tomato inside it and half a teaspoon of cheese. Not the best starter but we persevered because as I say, I've been dozens of times and normally it's lovely! I ordered a pizza, the dough was burnt to a crisp on the bottom and was pretty awful. Somehow the dough itself was pretty uncooked though, I've no idea how they managed that. Then the grease, my god, I've never seen so much grease on top of a pizza before, it was literally dripping off (presumably from the cheap pepperoni). My other half ordered a calzone, the dough on the ends and around the edges was so raw you could roll it, they'd put raw spinach inside the calzone which obviously just dumped all of its water inside. Again this was somehow burnt on the top and bottom. Having seen how the owner treats feedback with his replies to such comments I can't see us ever going back which is a shame, it used to be a lovely little Italian in the town centre. I'm not sure if it's been bought by someone else or if the current management have fell out of love with it. But when we were the only customers in the place I think that said enough to me. Steer clear - you'll get a far better pizza at the Wetherspoons a few more steps in the town.

Meals don't seem to be as good these days. 8 of us and 2 people never ate there meal. One was risotto. Friend said it was like sick. Tiny taste was enough for her. Told waitress and all she said was...I'll tell chef. She was still charged full price. Other friend had to cut bits off her pizza. Supposed to be chorizo on it but she said it didn't taste right and was extremely greasy. Oh well. Won't be going back

Food was badly presented and various member of our party had issues with the food, either it was over cooked or not cooked enough. Would not recommend.

We’ve been to this place before but wow this place has gone downhill. Luke warm starters. Mains not hot either but the standard was a disgrace. Hardly any meat or sauce in the lasagne and steak was frying steak with a garlic butter that tasted like stork. Staff didn’t care (expected they’re only kids) Will never be back.

10 of us went before a show and one of my friends weren’t happy with the food cause it was burnt but the chef said it was fine and refused to replace it, so if u go here and your not happy they don’t care. The one in Norton is nothing like this the chef is crap and gives out dry burnt food

Excellent food and service as always. La Porto is a gem in the town centre. Always our first choice for a meal out.

2 recent visits. Firstly for breakfast after shopping. A week later a graduation celebration meal. The La Porto Breakfast is always a treat. As for the graduation, owing to the bad weather we were finished earlier than planned, so phoned La Porto and asked for half an hour earlier than booked. No problem at all. Yet again the food was superb. 5 of us and not a bad word from anyone. For my part my Pork Belly starter was sublime. The crackling done to perfection. Looking forward to our next visit!

Poor quality, outdated restaurant, poor customer service. Needs a good shake up to be more successful. If a restaurant's mission statement is 'please the customers' La Porto Billingham did the exact opposite. I haven't visited in years and wow has it gone down hill. A party of six of us and all walked out bewildered by the experience and vowing never to return. One party member had special dietary requirements and when asked for a bog standard grilled chicken and salad, waitress flat out said no. Party members ordered food and requested certain items not to be on the plate, and ALL plates came with these items on - staff can't take notice to details. At the end it was an absolute joke, we asked for the bill to be split, manager was not happy about this and this was like them trying to figure out a mastermind quiz. Go to a lot of restaurants and staff are always happy to split a bill. If I could pay what I thought the meal and experience was worth it would be half of what was paid. Should have gone to Weatherspoons. This is no reflection on La Porto in Norton which is a wonderful experience.

We had a really nice meal, 2 courses for £14.95. Good value and good service. We’d previously been to the sister restaurant in Norton and found this much better.

We always liked eating at La Portos, but recently the standard has dropped. I have in past given this restaurant a 5 star review, can only say that was 9 years ago when it first opened. So disappointed with the way the standards have dropped. Have been twice in the last month, and both times been disappointed. The first time we thought maybe just having a bad day and gave them a second chance, wish we had not bothered now. Tried different dishes on occasions. Pasta lukewarm, with a little tasteless sauce. Have to ask for parmesan for the pasta dish for any other restaurant would be offered when the dish is served. Pizza was greasy and the toppings sparse. The front of house staff seem uninterested. When finished meal they asked how it was, when we said it was terrible the waitress, never said anything, just cleared plates away. We will not be returning for a long time (need a complete overhaul of staff first).

Always thought this was superior to Norton but both are now off the list. Carpaccio is apparently aged beef slices with rocket and parmesan. I will eat my hat if that was beef, it was parma ham with a couple of rocket leaves and no parmesan and looked like a sorry state on the plate. Pizza really well done on the crusts..just caught it before burning so had to cut them all off. Had to ask for black pepper and parmesan for the pasta dish which is usually offered when served. Wish we hadn't bothered, much nicer restaurants around. Won't be returning I'm afraid.

Come here for an evening meal. Food was at best average! Some food appeared to be pre cooked and warmed up. Bland tasting main and average service. What really put us off after visiting was the awful, dirty smell of frying oil. This cling is to our clothes and made us feel very extremely dirty. Will not be revisiting in a hurry. Much better and cleaner places to eat in Billingham. Try Pepermill Bistro!!

We visit this restaurant often but tonight was the first time we had a takeaway. Daughters ordered 3 course meal for Mother’s Day and it was amazing. Delivered on time, well presented and piping hot. Lovely surprise to see the owner at the front door making delivery. Food was delicious and the same high standard as served in the restaurant. Thank you, will definitely be ordering be again.

Visited here on a saturday evening with family. It was busy when we arrived and our table was still getting prepared. Once seated we were not asked our drinks order and ended up having to shout over a staff member to take one for us. Considering the place is only small this wasn't very impressive. We then asked to order food when our drinks arrived. I went for the fillet steak. It arrived with the presentation superb.. and tasted just as good! Cooked to absolute perfection and was really tender.. Couldn't recommend more. We once again had to flag down staff for another drink but all in all it was a lovely meal enjoyed by all. Hidden gem in Billingham.

Had another wonderful experience last night. The food was superb. Sea Bass for me and pasta for the girls. Great atmosphere and service. Well recommended.

We are so lucky to have a restaurant of this standard in Billingham serving exceptional food at a very reasonable price. The specials are not to be missed. Lovely little place and knew the food would be nice but did not expect such a high standard especially when i looked at the prices on the menu. I have eaten all over the world, top of the Eiffel Tower, at Gaucho's in London etc and can honestly say this place would give them both a run for their money. Not only was the food gorgeously presented but all the taste was there too. The staff were lovely, attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Especially in these hard times with Covid it was great to see people supporting this restaurant and I can see why. Almost didn't want to leave a review as now probably will struggle to get a reservation. Give them a try and I promise you will be leaving the same review as me and i'm not easily pleased.

One of the best resteraunts in the NE hands down. Never had a bad meal, owner is really friendly and always remembers his regulars. Absolutly love this place, I reccomend anything on the menu.

This was our second visit in two weeks and the food was as good as ever.We’ve been coming here for years and the quality of food has been consistently amazing.The staff have always been attentive and friendly ,but the staff currently are exceptional and make the experience even more brilliant.I can’t recommend this place highly enough.Vodka prawns are must if you like seafood.

This is meant to be a review which i will come to later. First and foremost can we apologise to all the diners today who had there meals interupted by my sons meltdown. As many of you noticed ( not all ) he has autism and today was one of them days where things went badly . It all started from him simply dropping his straw and it escalted from there. I would like to pay special attention to the gentlemen he abused and also the waitress . Again we are very sorry . He certainly doesnt hear language like that at home . I would also like to say a huge thankyou to the diners , staff and owner who made a huge effort to make us feel " that its okay " during this tough time . Its at times like this when people you dont know offer you a little support and it restores all faith in humanity.So on with my review . Well its typically the same as always . Awesome food , great service and great value . Every time we visit we always say " best meal ever " and it is . Totally faultless . I really hope through these testing times La Porto pulls through and gets the support that it deserves . Great to see all safety measures also to keep us all safe .Keep going and good luck

Booked in July for August 19th for 7pm arrived 5 mins before and the said the just sorting a table out can we wait in the corner which we did 5 mins later the girl said our table was ready OUTSIDE next to a pizza shop and chip shop to eat a meal with many of billinghams youths shouting and swearing close to the restaurant we declined Since we probably booked weeks before most in the restaurant we appreciate it’s busy cause of the eat out to help out but we should of been given the option at the time of booking Would think twice before booking again if I want to sit outside I’d grab a pastie out of Greggs and sit on the bench the with the chavs swearing

My mam and I came along this morning for our breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. The staff who worked there couldn’t be more friendly and welcoming, we have booked back in already to try some of the other beautiful dishes they have on the menu :)
