Food was great and the staff were friendly and polite

A decent meal experience here the food was good for sure. Service friendly and helpful. A little warm in here as the oven is open to the main eating room in the lower floor so if you are at that end it’s warm. Menu is not over complicated and we have three good meals, wine list maybe could do with a little more character. We kept it simple with some hot focaccia bread and olives to start, one of us had the hake with risotto, one a very large pizza and one a lasagne. All good. Just over one hundred pounds I guess to be expected in today’s hyper inflated times, even simple food seems pricey. Probably my only bugbear is the gratuity already added to bill filled by explanation by the waitress of oh it’s ok you don’t have to pay it!!! I would scrap that policy guys it’s very presumptuous and will put pressure on families watching Pennie’s.

Had the 2 course lunch deal for £16 each today. Very good food - a delicious risotto followed by a delightful, light, and fluffy tiramisu. Great value. Staff friendly and attentive.

My wife and I agreed that the evening meal we had recently at Cena was the best we have had anywhere for some years. On a mid week evening it was almost full, very vibrant but not unacceptably noisy. Despite the fullness the service was very prompt, helpful and efficient. Out two mains were totally excellent. My wife had the hake, while I had mushroom lasagne. I was asked if this should be vegetarian or vegan, showing how responsive and adaptable the kitchen could be. The prices were very acceptable, below £20, compared with similarly priced but lower quality offerings elsewhere.

Best menu for dietary requirements I've ever seen :) Food is delicious, and exemplary service.

This place is obviously popular, being packed mid-week. The food was generally good - the pizza bases being the stand-out for me. I've been to 3 or 4 places on Yarm High Street and this was probably the best of them.

When you're in Yarm you have to visit this restaurant.Every thing was superb.

Excellent pasta. I had the lasagne which was to die for-a proper slicing lasagne rather than a runny one which a lot of places serve. My friend had the spaghetti with prawns which she said was superb.

We wish we found this place earlier! Food was delicious and very reasonable price. Lovely setting and great waiting staff. The gratuity was already added to the bill but we were happy with that as the staff couldn’t do enough and were very attentive. Can’t wait to go back to try more of the menu.

Arrived last night (8th August my birthday!) and the staff couldn’t find a booking for me. I was convinced I’d booked a table but my middle aged brain fog must have messed up. They were really busy but the lady who served us was so nice. Found us a table and saved the day! The food was delicious as always - we had the Meze board starter and I had the sea bass. It was really busy and buzzing as usual . Thank you for your excellent hospitality

Fabulous little place, very tasty risotto

Excellent family meal in relaxed surroundings. Food was lovely. I can certainly recommend the haddock risotto with a side order of caesar salad. We enjoyed some beers and a bottle of red, all reasonably priced. We will be back.

We ordered from the set lunchtime menu and the food and service were excellent. It was part of a wedding anniversary celebration and my friend’s first visit to Cena. They were very, very impressed! Thank you.

We both ate from the set price menu and the food was superb. We had a lovely meal celebrating my wife's birthday. The service was good and friendly and the food was delicious and cooked freshly for us. We both a pasta dish for our mains. No complaints.... we'll be back

Great time at Cena on Monday, food was superb, the garlic bread was the best we've ever had. Atmosphere a little noisy due to large groups / crying babies but that isn't the restaurants fault.

Excellent meal , great menu choice and we will be back

We visited on a busy Saturday night but was pleased that service didn’t suffer for that. Each had a pasta dish which was nice but really very rich. Most of the pastas are cream or béchamel based - would be lovely to see some more variety here or some seasonal specials.

Cool little spot in the awesome village of Yarm. I had a great Pizza and a couple glasses of a nice red wine. Everything was great

An easy 5/5 rating. Lovely venue in Yarm high street (we were very pleased to be sat upstairs - downstairs was much louder but good atmosphere) and the service was attentive and helpful. Food itself was excellent, piping hot, superb quality meat in the pasta and pizza, would recommend and return.

Booked a table here not really knowing the area’s restaurants very well and wow!….what a place. The food was amazing, the service great and friendly and the atmosphere relaxing and informal. We had a fantastic meal and will definitely be back.

Amazing little restaurant with brilliant service from the staff. Really enjoyed our meal, maybe worth making customers aware of how spicy some of the dishes.

We were taken here by friends who live close to Yarm. It did not disappoint. The food, ambiance and service were all excellent. We’ll definitely return when next in the area.

Staff and atmosphere were lovely. Coffee and sticky toffee cake was lovely. My main food was the burger, which I wouldn't recommend as one of the burgers was raw in the middle, which I put to the side and just made staff aware of. I wasn't making a fuss as we were a large party and everyone else's food was lovely. Would visit again but just pick a different main.

Arrived with my 86 year old dad and went out of their way to ensure we were seated downstairs! Food and service were amazing! We visit family twice a year in Yarm and always book a table - could not recommend enough! Thank you

Had a few beers in Yarm last night (Sunday), fancied a pizza, and I've got to say it was one of, if not the best pizza I've ever had. I had the chicken and chorizo. The doe was really nice, the staff were great, the restaurant felt very rustic, typical of an authentic Italian restaurant, very nice ambience. I'll definitely be going back to try more of the menu. Superb.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Yarm from Aberdeen and came into Cera for dinner. Such a lovely venue, really kind staff and great service. The food was really well priced and so delicious Could not recommend this place enough if you are visiting Yarm!

Why oh why do some restaurants add a percentage service charge automatically onto the bill. In the case of Cena, it is in the small print, which will certainly be missed by some people who are not specifically looking for it. Also Cena include it automatically, and the small print doesn't suggest that you need to tell the waitress to remove the charge. It creates a bad feeling, and towards the end of the meal you feel uncomfortable knowing that you will have to tell the waitress. Also, Cena charges a rather large 12.5% as the 'voluntary' charge! On top of all this, I didn't enjoy the meal very much. The main course was small, the tables were too close together, and the drinks were rather expensive. However, I suppose you have to accept this in Yarm. To be fair, it was very busy, so must be popular.

Great food and even better service. We did a 200 mile round trip for our anniversary to eat here. I think that says enough about the place.

This restaurant was originally seen on a visit to the town but as the area was so busy for parking that we decided to come back and spend some time in the area which included booking here. We were delayed due to traffic, rang up and was told it wouldn't be a problem, on arrival we were shown to our table, very polite and happy staff. The service was just right, you didn't feel rushed, the beers were cold, food was very good authentic Italian dishes & desserts. This is really worth a visit.

Really disappointed I ordered Salmon and pea Paccheri which arrived promptly however consisted of dry pasta and peas no salmon!!!. Staff were informed and an alternative meal was ordered. Gratuity was not added to the bill and to be honest I would not have paid. I had been looking forward to Cena but feel I will not be returning or recommending to family and friends in the future.

Although busy for a Monday evening and we had not made a reservation we were made welcome and shown to a table reasonably quickly. A lovely polite, smiley waitress came to take our drinks order and then gave us time to choose our meals. They were served good and hot and tasted even better. Recommend you try if in Yarm .

I came with 2 friends for a late lunch last week. The ambience was great. We had pasta and porchetta along with their special starter of the day, which was Burrata Caprese Salad with Fresh Plum. The burrata was so fresh. The mains were delicious too. We ended our meal with some tiramisu and cheesecake. The tiramisu was fabulous.

Staff friendly and efficient. Our waiter (?Tom) seemed to know exactly when we wanted to receive attention and when we wanted to be left to chat uninterrupted. A very enjoyable experience and a fabulous birthdav meal.

Food was good apart from we ordered a burger but weren’t told they didn’t have any brioche buns, not the end of the world but a burger is so much nicer in a brioche bun If they had informed us when we ordered we would of ordered something different from the menu Flies in the kitchen / oven area is a no no Issue needs to be addressed

Great welcome. Food was fabulous. At the end of the meal a waiter was rather abrupt. Grabbed empty bottle off the table, knocked over the pepper pot and tried to get us to pay the bill after we'd already paid it. He did apologise after being challenged about his abruptness.

Perfect location for a romantic valentines meal. Wonderful gluten free menu. Lots of choice. Food was delicious, service was prompt and friendly staff. Prices reasonable.

It's the first time dining at Cena. It has a nice welcoming atmosphere about it. We were seated at a nice table and the service was very good. The choice of food had a nice selection of meals and the gluten free menu was also good. The service was prompt and the waitress was helpful. The food itself was very nice and I especially enjoyed the antipasti. Overall we enjoyed our meal at Cena and would recommend it.

Went on Friday evening and as always Peter the owner was friendly and hospitable. Even though it was really busy the service was spot on. The food was delicious with decent portions and yes we will be back again soon. Excellent evening !

Visited 3 times in the last twelve months. Sadly this week was the worst. Food was poor, which is a real shame as its usually decent.

Having a coeliac in the party always makes it quite difficult to find a safe place to eat - but Cena was excellent. Great gluten free options, and very conscientious staff who checked on orders. No aftereffects either, which validates the caution. Very tasty food and great portion sizes. A thumbs up from all in the group. Thanks Cena.

We had pizzas and I have to say, they were outstanding! So full of flavour and beautifully made. Wonderful!

Food was average and waiting staff were hospitable but managers attitude when a service charge was refused to be paid was appalling. Arrogant to exact. Won’t be back in a hurry

Absolutely love this place. The food is amazing, the staff are attentive and friendly. Although was really busy we didn’t experience any delays and were dealt with quickly and professionally.

Lovely restaurant. My only constructive criticism is I don't like it when the tip is added to bill. I know it's optional but some people may not realise or feel obliged to pay it. I always tip but I like it to be my choice and not something you feel obliged to do.

6 of us visited on New Year's Eve lunchtime. All meals were tasty and served reasonably quickly. Only downside was the waiter who was very professional but lacked a smile.

Eaten here previously and really enjoyed it so returned and weren’t disappointed.

Feared the worst when we arrived. We were seated at the last free table and the place was jumping! But we needn’t have worried - all of our food was well presented and absolutely delicious. Friends with us were visiting for the first time and said they’d definitely return. The staff were very welcoming and worked well together. Yes we did have to ask to order more drinks but given just how busy the place was that was no problem to us at all. Looking forward to our next visit in the new year.

I met up with my cousin who I hadn't seen for 15 years, the food was excellent, we talked and had a few drinks. The staff we do polite and courteous, I had no idea we were there for six hours, it was a wonderful experience! Will definitely be back! Thank you so much to all the staff at Cena

The food was lovely, though not a huge selection. This however is my second visit within a fortnight and on both occasions, the service has been poor. The waiting staff were uninterested, very slow to take drinks orders, then a long wait before returning to take meal orders. Very littler interaction, seemed more interested in leaning on one another near the kitchen. It's a shame because this restaurant has a better reputation than that. Unfortunately I'm afraid that we are unlikely to attend or recommend based on the above

It's very nice and the prices are fair but they charge a 10% service charge which was said to us with an option of not paying but with the prices of eating out now I thought they were good to give us the option So for the quality of food wine and atmosphere I would recommend the place I hope it stays open because its getting harder to find a decent restaurant
