Met with 3 friends last night again as part of our monthly get together Indian meal. Easy to park just behind in Waitrose car park . We’ve been going to Mitas for few years , with some of the group many years !! If you want the best freshly cooked indian meal at very reasonable prices then look no further . Whilst there is competition from nearby it’s great little place . Personal attentive service ,friendly welcome by Mohammed the owner ,his staff and grest authentic indian gorgeous tasty food . Very varied full menu cooked just how you want it . .i had once again the speciality of the house tandoori mixed grill served on a long skillet busting with noise and colour accompanied by a fresh naan and lovely crispy side salad . I also asked for extra pineapple which made it even more delicious !! . All 4 of us had differ t seperate dishes ,that came out at same time ,all 4 of us were well satisfied that we had great meal . Added bonus is you can take your own drink which is really good idea and keeps the cost pp right down . We had poppudoms to,start and coffee n mints to finish off with ,all for just £88, outstanding value . Go there you won’t be disappointed .

We were initially put off a bit when we found they didn't have a license for alcohol. They cheerfully advised that one should nip next door to the Tesco Express and buy the booze there. Decided to visit this Indian restaurant for a change and will be happy to stay with it now. We arrived without a reservation on Saturday night and were warmly welcomed. It was probably good we were quite early as it was busy shortly after. The menu has an interesting selection of dishes and as someone has already commented there was no extra/unnecessary oil in the dishes. Often oil is very much in evidence to the detriment of the dish - not so here!.The meals were well spiced and good flavour. Friendly serviceThe restaurant doesn't sell alcohol. Twyford has 3 Indian restaurants and I have visited them all on multiple occasions. Mita's is definitely the winner of my 2016 award. As others have mentioned this place does not have a licence to sell alcohol but there is a Tesco only a few doors away which has all the beer and wine you may want in a fridge. As you enter you are greeted like an old friend, which I am never quite sure is because everyone gets that welcome or if they genuinely remember me as a returning customer.Brought in beer is opened without fuss (although the guys are not the best at pouring beer without too much froth!)The food here is always, without fail, excellent. Portion sizes are good and they are happy to modify spiciness to suit all tastes. If you haven't been here before try it. The food is far better than the Gaylord and the prices better than the Haweli. I also note that it is the only one mentioned with 5/5 for the official Food Hygiene Rating.

The food in Mita's is great, both for eating in and delivery and it's very reasonably priced. There is an off licence just up the road, perfect for bringing your own drinks and Mitas will store these in the fridge for you and serve them throughout the meal. Staff are excellent, very attentive. The only downside is that if you go midweek you tend to be the only customers in there so it's very quiet! Great for visiting with family or friends at the weekend.

We really like this Indian restaurant in our village and we tend to use it all the time now. The fact you have to take your own alcohol does not bother us, in fact it can stop you having that woeful extra glass! Also this time they was a guy in the restaurant who might have been the owner who just came round to each table and had a chat checking everything is ok etc. The waiters are good but they were full last night and i think it is a nice touch. We had onion bhaja and chicken tikka with peppers as starters then my wife had a Hindi dish and I had one with chicken, a lovely sauce with honey, bananas and pineapple, sounds odd but it really worked. Their lemon rice is really lemony and we it was a lovely meal.

Have visited Mitas on a number of occasions, but never got around to submitting a review. So, here goes!We decided to go to Mitas last Thursday, armed with our cool bag of beer and wine. We were given a warm welcome upon arrival, and once seated, the wine was opened, and popped in the cooler. The service here is always prompt and courteous. The food is very good and on a par with the other Indian restaurants Twyford. The beauty of Mita's is the fact that you can bring your own drinks, without paying corkage. If you want to push the boat out, and treat yourself, the The Haweli is probably your best bet in the village. However, for a reasonably priced night out you would be hard pushed to better Mita's. The food is not oily and is tasty and it is good value. We started with poppadoms then both had starters, then two mains with a side order of a vegetarian curry based on lentils. The food was very good and Mita's was very busy which was good to see. Very good food although it is slightly bland and borders on Indian cookery by numbers in terms of absolute flavour and spice. For the latter you need to make the 30 mile trip east to Southall!Perfectly pleasant buffet food though. Was impressed by the naan breads and rice was probably the tastiest I've had. We came across this small restaurant by accident one day and I was very pleased that we did.The menu is what I would describe as quirky, with a number of dishes I have never seen anywhere else. I had the 'humdee' which was very good. The plates came warmed and there were individual dish heaters on the table to ensure the food stayed hot. I rate such attention to details very highly. The other thing of note is the fact that the Mitas is not licensed to sell alcohol. Fantastic! Go next door to Waitrose or bring your own and drink something you actually like. Minus points are the poor choice of desserts and the fact that it can be noisy in such a small establishment.

My partner has been using Mita's as a takeaway for 15 years and I have for 2 years. We drive from Reading because it is so good and have a takeaway from here at least once a month. We have always had good food, the staff are welcoming when we arrive either to order food or collect. The phone is always ringing which indicates other people rate their food too.I've ordered a range of dishes as I like trying out different curries (Lamb/Chicken Tikka Massala, Chicken Rezala, Lamb Jalfrizi) and have built up my spice tolerance. When I've been unsure the staff have been helpful. I have been favouring the Lamb Madras recently because the meat is tender and it tastes wonderful! Having read other reviews I'll try a Hundee next ;)The side dishes are good - we weren't sure what the Sabj-e-bahar was and this has become a regular, the naan breads are good. The portions are generous - there is enough food for my partner to have the leftovers the following night. We ordered a takeaway on Christmas Eve and had it the following day - stress free Christmas meal! I was really surprised to see the bad reviews from 22 Dec so felt I had to write a review because we have never had bad food from here. They advertise their Food Hygiene Rating on the door - 5 stars and Mita's deliver 5 stars every time.

Its been over a year since I last reviewed Mitas but have eaten there at least once, sometimes twice a month since then and could not understand the two reviews by different people both on the 22nd December 2014 (very convenient) stating disgraceful and disappointing. I have been reviewing restaurants since 2009 and have never found any place that would warrant a terrible rating as there is always some redeeming feature. Poor Ok I have given a fair few of those but neither of these reflects Mitas.Having eaten there again last night not a lot has changed over the preceding 12 months and the food is still in my eyes the best in Twyford. I rated the Gaylord Indian restaurant which is opposite also about a year ago and gave them a deserved poor for serving burnt food, chicken curries with no chicken and putting glace cherries on top of curries.Your never going to please everybody all of the time and possibly other people have had different experiences in the restaurants that I have rated as poor but there is certainly something suspicious when reviews consistently are very good and then two on the same day, the first ever terrible and the first ever poor reviews appear. There is nothing pretentious about Mita’s it’s a small restaurant where you bring your own wine, they do sell Cobra beer but that’s as far as it goes. You are always made to feel welcome by the waiters Aktar and Fizal and they can never do enough for you.A criticism if you want one is that the only fish dishes that they serve are prawn and it would be nice to see some fish curry’s on the menu.Do not be put off by the detractors, make up your own mind and do not believe all that you read, as Mitas remains in my opinion excellent and the best Indian restaurant in Twyford.

I was upset to see a less than good review earlier on this site given this is my favourite restaurant in Twyford, so I popped down to the Mita's tonight with my wife and a friend without booking in advance to check out to see if anything had changed since before Christmas. We received the customary very warm welcome and they quickly made up a table for the three of us. We had a selection from the menu (my favourite dish is the lamb hundee) and I have to say we all thoroughly enjoyed our food; from delicate to rich and varied flavours it was superb and the service was excellent.

We've been living in Tweeford for 12 years. We usually go to the much-garlanded Haweli, true. But the Mita's is good too, and has two awesome things going for it: BYO (I'll have an ESB, cheers) and the Hundee, a curry of their own creation, which is divine.Just finished our takeaway Hundees :-) -- which inspired me to write this -- wish I knew the recipe.

Never eating here again. Absolutely awful! My recent takeaway was distinctly average and my mother ate here recently and had horrendous food poisoning. Last night my friend ate there and this morning he is extremely unwell. Avoid this place like the plague unless you're looking for food poisoning!

We live in Twyfors and always order take ways from the Mita and alway been very happy .but having family over we went along to Mita for Sunday buffet all 12 of us and was very disappointed the staff are very friendly but the food was warm as soon as we had finished our starter the plates of rice had arrived so no time to rest our food or even chat to our family straight on to the main felt we where being rushed .Also we asked to have some lights on but the staff could not get them to work so was very dark in one side of restraint.

First time I've been here despite living in area for years. Heard some good reviews from friends so decided to give them a try. As it's BYO it's cheaper to eat here than the other Indian restaurants in Twyford, situated next door to Waitrose and close to Tesco so you can pick up your own drinks before you go in. The interior is smallish, basic but clean and tidy, staff friendly, tasty good size portioned food and for once hot poppadoms !They did make one mistake on the order but not a major issue. Worth a visit

Recently visited with a group of friends, we received excellent service and you are allowed to bring your own beer as I believe they have no licence to sell alcohol. Food was top notch and really good value for money, will be visiting again soon!

Despite the sign claiming it to be "Fully Licensed" we found out that you can't buy a gin & tonic because they don't have a licence. They did sell us bottle of beer though? The food was OK but the decor was pretty basic although the staff very welcoming and polite.

Having tried most of the Indian restaurants in Twyford, Mita's wins every time. The food is consistently good - both eating in and take away - and the service in the restaurant is excellent.

Like many others on this review site, we've been going to The Mita's in Twyford ever since they opened, some 20 years ago (the takeaway unit used to be a butchers!). The food is consistently good, we regularly have takeaways and it's also a very family friendly restaurant for celebrating birthdays etc. - Sunday buffet in particular is excellent value. I travel throughout the UK a lot and it's always great to come home to their food, best taste and variety and beats all other local similar food outlets for quality and price. You can bring your own drinks and there is no corkage charge.

I guess I must have been coming to The Mita restaurant for over 20 years - mainly using the take away service and occasionally the restaurant. We are spoiled for choice in Twyford for Indian restaurants as this is one of three (there used to be two others). Competition is high for the Mita but for me they win hands down on their ability to maintain quality and consistency in terms of their food and there welcoming service. The food has the right balance and tastes fantastic. In the restaurant itself you will find attentive and friendly staff and the very same quality of food time and time again.- it is a bring your own booze restaurant for those on a tight budget - saver the food drink your favorite plonk and enjoy. We are moving out of the area soon and I have to say that I will most definitely miss the Mita restaurant and Mohammed's friendly welcome. Highly recommended.

Being a bit lazy but loving Indian food, this is the best Asian restaurant for miles around! especially for a takeaway. There is a very slight dependency upon the chef "of the moment" but 99,9% otherwise cannot fault.

Reserved a table for myself and 9 colleagues on a busy Friday evening and wow was i impressed with the food, the quality, the atmosphere, and most importantly the level and speed of service! The food was absolutely amazing! I have been to a lot of indian restaurants and eat indian food regularly coming from India and this was by far the most authentic food i have tasted in Britain. The food was brought to us perfectly hot filling the room with gorgeous aromas and astonishingly the value was unbelievably for such reasonable portion sizes. The staff were friendly throughout with a massive smile on their face and always happy to help in any way possible.Simplicity and originality was clearly the key here with the food really being fused with authentic fresh spices and flavours of India. At the end of our meal I asked to personally thank the manager and was surprised to be greeted by two managers! They were equally friendly and made it clear as to why the restaurant was so very good. Mohammad had been serving us during the night and was managing the Restaurant side, he was exceptionally funny and very kind. Shilu was managing the Banquet orders, the kitchen and Take-Away side and seemed to be the inspiration behind The Mita's success as he told us the story behind his vision and present success. Both lovely gentlemen who have worked hard to have created such an amazing restaurant. If you are anywhere near to this place YOU MUST VISIT! I can guarantee you wont be disappointed!I will definitely be visiting again and can only hope they somehow find a way to bring a Mita's into London as it is a crime that this level of Indian isn't already here.

I have been to this restaurant several times and really enjoy the food every time. The restaurant is small and friendly, but not licensed so bring your own wine or beer. There is an off license, Tesco's and Waitrose all nearby. Staff are friendly and it never seems very busy in the evenings - which is strange because its very reasonably priced and the food is excellent.

We love this Indian food so much that we have regular takeaways every month and have done for years and years - recommend the Bhuna dishes as they are tomato-ey, not too spicy - added to that they are served with genuine warmth and a big smile! Who can beat that!

There is plenty of choice curry house wise in and around Twyford. The Mita's sunday buffet is difficult to beat for value, ideal for a family get together. Take your own alcohol too, if you wish. There was a good if not predictable choice of starters and mains, but all tasted good and the turnover was sufficient to keep the curry's fresh. Worth booking if you are a large group. The staff are always very welcoming.

Great breakfast today. Decided to skip the full welsh and opted for the avocado and poached eggs on sourdough. Perfectly poached. Had 2 lattes so on a bit of a coffee high at the moment. Waitress kindly gave me a small jug of hot milk to add to them. The rainbow cake looked fantastic, hope it’s still on the menu next week. Love this place.

Absolutely gutted that they have dropped the Thai food, this was exceptional, well presented, hot and delicious. Well i won't be sending anyone there again, what a shame, as I was always sending people there, because it was so good. Lino Len
