The Mira Restaurant in Runnymede

Was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant but overall I was disappointed. Felt rushed by the staff when ordering and some elements of the food were underwhelming ( Char Sui Pork was overcooked)

We have eaten at The Mira a number of times and it has always been a great experience. The food, service and ambiance are high end Mayfair quality. It represents excellent value for money and we are fortunate to have it on our doorstep.

Thought we’d push the boat out a couple of days ago and try out the new Chinese in Egham – The Mira Chinese Restaurant – Well, first off to their booking system and set the day and time for a visit by the 2 of us. Went to confirm this and was greeted by their comment “This restaurant requires a credit card to secure this booking. All credit card information will be processed securely. No-shows or cancellations less than 2 days in advance will be subject to a charge of £25 per person.” In all my days of eating out, never have I seen such an absurd demand, the kicker being 2-days. If it was 12-hours, maybe, but 48-hours is a bl**dy nerve. We’ll stick with our other set of Chinese restaurants.

The food here is simply exceptional. Yes, it's expensive. But worth every penny if you are looking for fantastic spicy chinese food. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Exceptionally good food at a fair price. Food like this is rarely found outside of London, so it was a very welcome surprise. I also found the staff to be highly engaging and very pleasant. All round, it’s a joy, and if you know your food, it’s definitely worth a visit. The clientele on the evening we went were ‘lively’ and the tables all seemed to know each other…. From their friendly back slaps with the managers and staff, I suspect they are regulars, but there were no problems. My only real criticism would be the room itself. The walls are a cold grey and completely bare. This gives it a really austere feel, and the contemporary look I think they were trying to achieve doesn’t work. It needs someone with a good design eye to make it more appealing. However, because of the points mentioned re the food quality and friendly staff, I will definitely be back.

Exceptional quality of Cantonese food. Better than most restaurants in London Chinatown. Still thinking about the food I had and how much we enjoyed it.

Very good authentic Chinese Restaurant. Nice cosy place. Tasty food with friendly service. Need to reserve a table before you go as it is always full. Have few public parking spaces around. The toilets are very clean, compared to other restaurants, I am very pleased about this. Recommend for families

Wow.. the Peeking duck is amazing. If you ever visit just one restaurant in your life, the Mira has to be high up on the list. From the super friendly staff to the mouth watering food. This is one of my favourite places to go now.

Authentic Cantonese food. At long last it is possible to get food just as good as served in Hong Kong. Clientel a mixture of Chinese and Caucasians.

Food was delicious and so clean. So glad they cook without msg. Feel full but not unpleasantly full like at most Chinese restaurants. Will definitely be going back and will highly recommend to friends and family.

We were disappointed by our business dinner at The Mira last night, despite having wonderful experiences dining there with family in the past. The food is incredible, but also expensive. At those prices, you expect perfection in both taste and service - which simply wasn't the case. Our reservation was for 8pm, yet one of our party didn't arrive until 10 minutes later. Even so, we felt rushed through our set menu the entire evening. The service lacked any warmth or friendliness too. Despite being the last table there, we got the distinct impression they wanted us out. The music was turned off promptly at 10pm and the bill brought over. Within 10 minutes, a staff member was jangling a set of keys - clearly a not-so-subtle hint that we'd overstayed our welcome. I get that it was a midweek night and the restaurant probably wanted to close up by a certain time once we were the only table left. But when you're paying £245 for a business dinner with 4 people, you don't expect to be hurried out the door like that. It made us feel pretty embarrassed in front of our professional guests. It's a real shame as we live locally and want to support neighbourhood restaurants. But after last night's poor experience, The Mira is one we'll be avoiding for a while. A disappointing evening all round.

Considering what you can get in the surrounding areas, this restaurant provides better than average food. Service is good. Of course it is on the high side of the price range.

It was my daughters 18th birthday dinner. No restaurant can beat The Mira. Better than any Michelin star restaurant out there. Fantastic hot fresh food !! There is no compromise in quality with their food! It’s better than China tang the Dorchester ! Better than Park chinos Mayfair ! Better than hakkassan ! Better than Kai Mayfair And the list is endless as I have tried absolutely everywhere. This is by far the best restaurant and I hope they never ever change anything about their food and service . The Peking Duck is one of the best and the prawns are absolutely fantastically cooked and the quality 10/10 we do order nearly everything on the menu and each dish is uniquely Devine ! We have passed the Restaurant many times and always wanted to give it a try. This time we were nearby, and decided on the spur of the moment to go for an early dinner. According to the Internet, the Restaurant opens at 5.15, but when we arrived at 5.20 they were firmly shut and closed. We telephoned them and were told that they open at 5.30. We asked for a table for 2 but were told that there were no tables available and that we had to book '2 weeks in advance'. So we decided on a take away. The food was good, no complaints here, but also very pricey. Will we be back? Probably not.

By chance I have had dinner at 2 Chinese restaurants over the past 5 days. The first was Mira, the 2nd was Peking Inn in Cookham, not shabby. At the latter we had one of their set menus that included duck plus we ordered a bottle of wine. At Mira we had a la carte with 3 small bottled beers between us. Value wise Mira was £70 each, Peking Inn was £52 each. Not a huge amount of quality difference but Mira was probably slightly better with everything (apart from only 3 pancakes each with duck, who can be bothered with the delay of asking for more). Where Mira shone through was the Spare Ribs, a plate of 4 with lots of meat and a great sauce. Whilst I live closer to Mira, my value choice would be Peking Inn or Jade in Sunninghill.

Top cuisine. Authentic. Great produce. Varied menu. Beautifully presented. Caring service. Spotlessly clean. Clearly have a passion for there craft. Simply wonderful.

Service and vibe awful. Food is really good here so I’d hoped precious POOR service would be improved, not a bit. All 4 of us highly regretted and agreed never again. Cold vibe, cold staff pushing sales. Tried to get us to order more starters then order more mains. We’ll order what we want. Staff constantly leaving over and touching one of my sons with their body which is highly rude, apologizing so clearly knowing it’s not right. They lent over his should to reach the water glass to top up, he’s tall, they’re short. This is because tables are crammed tightly so they could fit to his tight. Miserable visit. The 12.5% service charge on top of highest prices is ridiculous. Never again.

Every ingredient clearly fresh and of best quality; flavours superb, presentation top notch, service better than perfect. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Definitely now our top favourite place to go. And, if they’ve got scallops in (always ask) then have them, do not miss them!

Never been , it was our first time . We were pleasantly surprised to find a good Chinese Resturant with west end food. Food was delicious and they had a really good wine list . The service was excellent and very friendly . Would highly recommend it to people looking for good Chinese food locally.

I've been three times in about as many months. The food is gorgeous with a good selection of wine as well. The decor is calm and the service superb. I can't wait to go again.

Food is similar to most Chinese takeaway restaurants but beautifully presented (apart from the duck, which is decent but you need to preorder). The service and atmosphere is excellent. Overall a decent experience.

We are local and had been recommended this restaurant and wow , can’t believe we have not been or heard of it. The food is seriously good and the service even better - what lovely people. Looking forward to returning for the whole roast duck…

Good food and service at reasonable prices

Welcoming and knowledgeable staff in a calm, relaxing minimalist atmosphere - not a plastic chair or red lantern in sight. Good selection of wines with variable prices. Well-presented and incredibly tasty meals a little different from average Chinese restaurants. The dim sum is absolutely wonderful. This was our second visit and we're booked for a third. Why try the rest, this restaurant's the best :)

Fresh flavours, seafood also very fresh and that is a rarity. The food is a great step up from most chinesr restaurants and the staff are friendly and attentive. One point that is not often mentioned is that it's a small restaurant with not many tables but they don't cram you in. So many small restaurants cram in extra tables and at the Mira they allow space and comfort. I can't wait to go again

Quite staggering, I’ve been looking for a decent Chinese restaurant in the north Surrey area and some friends of ours booked a table for the four of us (we had to book several weeks in advance to get a table) we went for the duck which requires a 1.45 minute wait well worth they recommend that you book for duck in advance, but we just order some nice starters. It was without a shadow of a doubt, the best Chinese have a head anywhere. A little bit on the pricey side however, I think the food speaks for itself. Either way, I can’t wait to find another reason to go out to this restaurant!

Food is great, service is great.. Not cheap and you'd be advised to book as its popular. Very lucky to have the mira in Egham!

Excellent food and service. We prebooked a whole duck which was a great experience and fabulously tasty. The dim sum and everything else was excellent. This all happens in a fairly unassuming looking restaurant.

The best chinese food I have ever eaten. We ate here for my brother in laws birthday. The staff are very professional and helpful. The food was excellent, definitely worth pre-ordering the duck if you are going with a group of people. I would go again

Possibly the nicest Chinese restuarant I've been to for a long time. Staff were super friendly and accomodating and the DUCK!!! OMG it was amazing. Big shout out to Philip who was our waiter who was lovely and was very helpful. I'm definitely coming back here with the rest of my family. Its a rare find.

Friday Night out, I must say it's a nice change to get things freshly made again. The chef has an exemplory palette. using Light soy rather than dark the Sauces well balanced and did not over power the taste of the main ingredient. Super wine...

A friend recommended us this restaurant so we decided to try this restaurant on a weekend (we drove all the way from London!). Glad that we booked in advance as we saw walk in customers got turned down as they were fully booked. The restaurant has a very nice intimate atmosphere with less than 10 tables. Food was very delicious. We really enjoyed the pepper squid, Peking duck, char siew, fried rice and miso cod! The fried rice was the best fried rice I had. On top of that, service was very attentive and friendly (thank you to Tony, Mary and Philip).

Not impressed. I tried to book a table for a birthday and they wanted me to add my credit card details in case I don't show up. The restaurant want £25 per person if I don't show up. They tried to take the money out of my account. This is outrageous!! They are really full of themselves or greedy. There are so many amazing restaurants out there. Mira just missed out on a customer and I will tell friends about this ridiculousness.

We are from Hong Kong. The food here is as delicious as those in Hong Kong. Makes us feel like home. Better than most Chinese food restaurants in London! Even the chili oil is so tasty! Definitely a must come.

Lovely new restaurant, decor fresh and clean. Warmly welcomed despite the fact I had booked a table for 2 in error instead of 4, but no fuss was made. Noted they turned other people away who didn’t have bookings so this place has become popular very quickly, it probably has only 30 covers (?) so seems booking essential. The food was superb, it was expensive but everything was super tasty, nothing greasy or unpleasant-their website claim no MSG used in their cooking and I certainly didn’t feel uncomfortable and thirsty after this meal like I might with other Chinese restaurants. The waitresses were very friendly and shared a joke when one us asked for coffee after the meal, which they do not serve, but she talked him into a pot of Chinese tea to aid his digestion. A lovely touch was a complimentary platter of fresh sliced fruits after the meal, everything was cleared away quickly and we did not feel rushed. We will definitely return.

The Char Siu pork was the star of the show and absolutely loved the rest. Really friendly owners and highly professional team.

Our first visit on husbands birthday and it was excellent. The prices may look high but it is evident that ingredients are top quality and the dishes were all delicious. Lovely environment, very attentive waiting staff. It was special and we will be going again!

This is, without question, the best Chinese restaurant that we have ever eaten in. It is simple and doesn't try too hard to be something it isn't. Whenever we stay overnight at Heathrow, we make the journey to Mira. Try it; you won't regret it....

Love the Peking duck: crispy and delicious ! The Char Siu is not as salty as other restaurant’s but really tender. We ordered the Teriyaki beef , which is my son’s favorite. I think this is the best Peking duck I’ve had in the UK.

Mira is a chinese restaurant with 7 well spaced tables. The quality of the food is amazing. The star of their menu is duck , prepared two ways. Everything is prepared with care . You are not rushed yet you do not have long waits...

Modern decor, small restaurant but with space between the tables. Everything is good quality but the proper peking duck is worth a special mention as is soft shell crab. Certainly not cheap but a good place to go for a special occasion

I think in order for this place to maintain any long-term business they need to take a look at their prices and reevaluate.

We had a table for 3 at the Mira restaurant last night. It was wonderful. The food was excellent and the service was first class and a particular shout out to Phil who looked after our every need throughout our meal.. If you are looking for very special Chinese food with great service then you need to get to the Mira. We will be going back there again very soon
