Fantastic pub ,food is immaculate always feel welcome .

Menager Ian here is a mistake - a very arrogant man

Booked for 16 of us today with nit being our wedding anniversary plus our daughters 16th . the brisket came out like a bowl of soup burnt and tasted bbq . It says on menu comes with mash seasonal vegetables on no 3/4 of the bowl was in gravy runny loads of peas some mash and the brisket shredded up not 10oz of it that's for sure . Fish and chips needs the menu saying chips , fries ,wedges or something different today the chips if you call them that whete long and fat wedges inappropriate to what the menu said. The lady who's just come in a week ago was fab she catered for our needs and went above and beyond. Myself and the family have been 2/3 times before this been brilliant but the lack of food quality the staff who seemed useless apart fromntje Manager was excellent sorted everything for us went above and beyond for us thank you very much. But on a negative experience we'll live

Waited an hour for a simple 4 cheese pizza just 4 a snack. Cancelled it cos wasn't waiting another hour.

Fantastic place. Food excellent. Drinks fabulous. Service superb. Niomi was very welcoming and made our experience even better. Highly recommend.

The Carvery Bingo on the 27 th March was very disappointing , the table service was a big mistake , the food served was cold and definitely not what was expected from a carvery , more was sent back to be warmed than stayed on the tables ( microwaved ) , I like to choose what I want to eat that’s why I pick carvery , I’m sorry but overall the food was not what we expect from you , very poor , the only plus side was the staff , especially a young lad named Jack ,

Tried this place for the first time and it'll definitely be my last. Booked for the day before mother's day on the Saturday for 3pm for 6 of us Wasn't very busy inside the pub just to paint the picture. We ordered drinks and then ordered our food The time it took for food to actually get to our tables was just over 1 hour and 30 mins which was absolutely dreadful. The Manager couldn't give a toss to be honest and wasn't helpful in any way The only saving grace was a member of staff called Sarah who was trying her absolute best to help disgruntled customers.

Booked for 6 people for Sunday lunch 2 had carvery 4 had from the main menu food was delicious no body complained about there meal the carvery was especially tasty, quick service and extremely friendly staff would highly recommend unfortunately live in Wales otherwise would definitely visit more often can't wait till we are back in area visiting relatives again.

We pre-booked a table for 5.30 on a Wednesday, there was only 3 other tables with customers awaiting food. After 45 mins despite being quiet the first table was finally served, we received our meals after 1 hour and 5 minutes! We ordered 3 mains hallumi skewers £14.95 (not hot) which didn't come with flatbread we ordered, a burnt pizza £13.95 (my son only ate half) and beef brisket which was described as accompanied with mash and veg. It came in a soup bowl with a small portion of mash a few peas (veg?) and gravy with a miserley amount of stringy meat £14.95!. All portions were tiny, very poor value and poor quality, it's difficult to find any real positives. Won't be going again

Been for a carvery to day with all my family it was a disaster we quede got our food had to wait 10 mins for gravy when it came out it was not warm and it was like water they took the craven back had to go to the shop for gravey granules so had to wait 15 mins half the family eat half there food rest off us had to wait for new food 20 mins not good they offered us some pudding we had 3 jam sponge with the smallest off custard I had a chocolate sundae which was 2 scuppers off ice cream with a bit off cream What the hell was going off in there today I felt like I wanted a full refund but just had enough with all my family been there hope Sam reads this

This is my local and I absolutely love this place. The food used to be great! However since the recent menu change, I doubt I'll be going back. The portions of the chips were shocking, I got 8 chips total with my meal, my partner got a bit more but it was still slim pickings. We had to order another portion to share between two of us. Also, the service was crap. I got ignored multiple times by staff members. I even had to ask for the bill 3 separate times and had waited 20 minutes before they eventually brought it over!

Terrible customer services. Do not book a table for a meal if you expect a meal, as when you arrive they then tell you they cannot accommodate. Useless and unpleasant members of staff. Will not even bother attempting to visit the pub again.

Came yesterday was really disappointing,I ordered slow cooked brisket,it was long stands ,was like trying to chew string ,at one point I nearly choked and had to pull it out of my mouth ,even my grandson left it and he usually will eat any meat Sorry but will not be going again

We came to celebrate my 30th birthday. My sister booked the booking over a month ago and only found out on the day that it was carvery only due to staffing issues which if we found out earlier we would of cancelled and booked somewhere else. The carvery was worse we've ever had. The beef you couldn't even cut into it, veg was rock hard. When we advised the staff she went to tell head chef and came back with a billion excuses and said it was the butchers where you got the meat from and also said it everything was cooked the night before.

Great evening meal. Went for Valentines evening. Very competitively priced and plentiful plates. The diversity of foods from all over the world is a great attraction.

We arrived at midday for lunch and the pub was pretty quiet. We had the choice of tables so sat near the window, the barman came and asked if we wanted to order at the table or bar. I told him I would go to the bar when we decided what we were having. I had a steak and Mrs G had chicken and leek pie which was massive and I think she managed about half of it. All in all a nice meal and great attentive staff.

Absolutely the best food in the area, staff are fantastic can't fault anything about this pub

We came for the Sunday carvery as a family and it was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was great and the staff were excellent, will be coming back.

I'm definitely going there again! I live 35 miles away but will be there once a month.

Amazing staff Excellent service

I visited this pub for an away game (Sunderland v Rotherham) and was really pleasantly surprised by both the welcome and the quality of food and beverages. Nice people ☺️

This place is such a gem, the food is so good and very plentiful, I had a mix grill and boy that was a mix grill and half. We have visited The Mill Dam and we have never been disappointed, good value excellent food and the staff are very friendly.

Very poor. Had fish and chips...fish overcooked dry and crispy in burnt batter. Chips cold and greasy. Not what we expected for £13.50 a portion. Wont be back.

Not good service at all bad management at to move tables book out but we were there first plenty tables else where it if your face fits there not good at all upset a lot of regulars

A breakfast treat! Really friendly and professional staff and service, delicious food, relaxed festive yet homely atmosphere. Good value for money. Second visit for food, highly recommended and will return soon!

Brisket on the tough side , not cooked long enough

I called in at The Mill Dam with my daughters after attending Graduation Ceremony ! There was a good choice on the menu ,there was quite a wait between ordering and receiving the food,we were told the reason was,'the food was freshly prepared and cooked to order 'when they arrived all the meals we chose were we'll presented and tasted great, The staff were friendly and attentive, nice relaxing atmosphere.

Had the Christmas Fayre! Choice of 3 starters, mains and puddings. Delicious food and the staff are amazing. 10 of us. We had a great time! Table beautifully decorated and room warm. Staff really friendly and nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend a visit! Thanks Liam !

Food was fine I guess, nothing amazing as the sign says 😂. The waiting staff were odd and brought food out in dribs and drabs with no feedback. Barstaff looked impatient and generally chatted amongst themselves. It's Rotherham but they're charging city prices

Had a lovely meal my husband had carvery and I had pie it was enormous put managed to eat most of it the carvery was all cooked fresh with plenty of choice the staff were lovely will go again x

Got given a dirty glass, (lipstick on glass) when I asked for a new one, one of the staff members wasn't that bothered told me to wait she's busy, another staff member was fine though and sorted that. Food not that great, and atmosphere was terrible wouldn't go back. Trying to be a restaurant smart casual wear no hats sign on the door yet it's just a standard pub.

Got there at 4:30 and was told they couldnt seat us as they had reservations at 7?? Another came over and said they could seat us…okay? Ordered food everything alright, fetched food out and woman with glasses and short hair knocked a fork onto the floor and asked us “do you want another?” No I want to eat with it after its been on the floor? Hygiene????? Fetched food out and slow cooked beef brisket was absolutely shambolic, clearly compensating with chips and was unable to cut with a normal knife. Had to use a steak knife and even then it was just all dry on the inside, more like slabs of beef. I’m not a chef but I’m sure beef brisket is meant to fall apart? Been for the first time for Sunday Carvery, the Carvery was one of the best we have had in a long time will definitely be coming back. The pub is beautiful very welcoming and the staff could not do enough for you

Had the mill dam dirty burger, chicken burger was a little burnt but the meal as a whole was absolutely delicious beef patty was nice and moist. Burger sauce was amazing. Normally I’m not a fan of homemade chips but these are within a different league. Upon sitting down and pondering about what to order the prices came across on the high side for pub food but after ordering meals with the family we spend an absolute reasonable £44 for three meals and three drinks. Staff members really accommodating with small Children and interactive with them as well. This isn’t your normal boring pub grub, I’d class this as a more bistro quality food in a pub. Will absolutely visit again and would 100% recommend anyone to go visit.

Although I have given an average score for this pub that doesn’t reflect on the lovely staff who are friendly and welcoming. My score is based on the new menu being very boring. Some of us had the brisket which was very nice but swamped with gravy and not a vegetable in sight. The ham hock was the same. Meat, chips and gravy. It was very bland. Gravy jugs would be a better option rather than flooding the plate with it. I would just like to add we did enjoy what we had but a few tweaks would make it much better. We visited the Mill Dam a few months ago and the menu was much better.

I am so sorry I never gave you a glowing review all the times we came every week for a meal.(Mighty meaty mixed grill well done and my husband changed every week ). It was always fantastic. We came last Wednesday . They had no mussels so could not have prawns and mussels. I then had small plate. My husband had fish and chips. The trouble was the choice on the menu was very poor for our tastes. My daughter went with husband and birthday girl and his parents. We didn’t go because we knew the choices ! This was 3rd Oct 2023. Mother’s ham hock was very very fatty. Birthday girl pizza fantastic. Husband chicken leek pie fantastic. Daughters burger so so. Dad’s ribs good. But they all agreed about the choices, eg. Scampi. Sorry we will not be back which is a real disappointment.

Super delicious food 😋 a bit slow service, but it's forgettable because it's Saturday evening 😀 and we weren't booked in, that's a big plus that lady in charge managed to find a table for us 😀

It's a nice place, but when the chef and the staff don't know what gluten free (medical condition, not just a choice) means, it's not good. Asked if the meal could be gf without certain items on it (which is fine, I spend my life doing that) they said yes. The meal then arrived with one of those items on top. I could have eaten it, relying on that they knew this meal needed to be gf. But I questioned it, they sad oh no sorry, with that item it's not gf, then they bring the same meal back, just with said item removed, obviously not releasing it's still not gf, if its had a gluten item on top, unless it's prepared again. They said it wasn't their regular chef, but something so basic shouldn't have been so hard. When I finally got my food, it was actually OK. But won't be going there again.

In this pub they prepare very tasty food and very friendly people work. Relaxing atmosphere, beautiful interior. Wonderful beer garden! Highly recommend.

Four of us went for a meal this evening; two adults, two kids and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The service was fantastic and the food; incredible. Never tasted a beef burger like it. We opted for the sharing platter (pictured) and struggled to finish it. I believe one of our servers was new but you wouldn’t have known. The service from the team was top rate and they interacted with our children. This was our first time visiting the Mill Dam and it won’t be our last.

Today myself and three friends visited for lunch it was a new menu launch, it was fabulous it has your traditional bar meals and also a new street food menu which was new and exciting and had plenty of choices, We had Turkish lamb flat bread and wraps and they were so tasty and delicious and interesting flavors it made a change from from the usual bar food, The service was fantastic the staff members were on hand to serve you drinks to your table and made time to talk to all their customers making it a nice relaxing atmosphere. The pub it’s self has a great decor and was very comfortable and clean. Give it a go you will not be disappointed. Thankyou for all the staff

Decided to get a takeaway Carvery today whilst enjoying a pint on the decking. I was not disappointed it was absolutely amazing. Will definitely be trying it again on my next visit.

Ever since this pub reopened as The Mill Dam it's been stellar, drinks are lovely and so is the food. Atmosphere is everything you could ask for in a pub and I've had birthday meals with my family here before, would definitely recommend.

Absolutely lovely staff, always there to help. Food is always spot on, never had any issues. Visited multiple times and haven't had any complaints. I would absolutely recommend the Chili it is 👌. 10/10.

Came here for Sunday lunch to try it. Choice of fantastically cooked meats, wow, great start. Great choice of vegetables, again PERFECTLY cooked. No soggy veg here!!! The lemon drizzle cake was to die for. Naomi, our waitress, was very attentive and knowledgeable. A great day with great food amidst their festival outside. Top marks...

We attended a 40th birthday party in the function room. The pub itself was packed, very popular. Lovely outdoor area. Staff were friendly, great service. Food for party faultless. Very good quality. Highly recommend.

Been with family to celebrate an occasion and had the best food. Friendly, helpful staff as always. Flexible with the menu as regards to us asking to change the accompaniments to the dishes, eg chips instead of potatoes, salad instead of veg. Very helpful and accommodating. Food was amazing, generous portions, definitely value for money, and delicious home cooked food. I go here regularly and would highly recommend.

This place is great, excellent service, good quality good and the pub has been refurbished really well making it a nice environment to be. Will definitely return soon.

Has the chef changed as the food isn't as good as it used to be?? Eaten here a lot and food has always been gorgeous, last few times we've been it's not been as good and also booked for a party of 15 and the meals were just average, some quite dry and the last time we went recently the chips wereno longer home made. When we came as a large party we were split up onto separate tables and told we couldn't push them together as it would damage the carpet! Think we will give it a miss and try somewhere else for a change, its a shame but something has definitely changed and not for the better unfortunately

Nice enough carvery, veg plenty of option, lovely Yorkshires and mash, only had 1 meat option available though, maybe we came a little late on 15.30? Overall would reccomend

Pre booked large party for a birthday celebration, starters were nice salt and pepper squid, some of the mains food were ok however some average while a few were inedible, children's spag bol was disgusting neither one would touch it. Chorizo linguine cold and had to be sent back came back and was inedible anyway very greasy and about 3 bits of chorizo in it. Chips on most plates could have done with longer in the oven were still hard. Steak fajitas the steak was inedible chewy and full of gristle. Over all disappointing wouldn’t recommend.

Me my mum and a friend was looking for a nice place to eat this pub then recommended the mill dam to us we then went there it was around a 4-5 minute drive from where we were we walked in the outside building was really nice and modern as we walked in this lovely women greeted us we then got sat down nearly straight away she gave us menus and severed us the food took around 15-20 minutes the atmosphere was really calming other family was there so it didn't feel just like a pub once it came we had the homemade fajitas a steak burger I forgot the name of and scampi we also got drinks before, the food was to die for and the drinks was really nice they have a really large selection and staff are lovely and it wasn't to expensive and it was a nice meal to have

First visit after seeing many recommendations and they weren't wrong! Nicely decorated and welcoming. Staff were very pleasant and polite and the food was excellent. We had a Lasagne and a Brisket plate. Both well presented, well cooked and big portions (not enough room for a pudding!) Staff were excellent without being intrusive and there was a good choice of beers. Will certainly be going again!

Me and my partner visited today for Sunday lunch. The carvery was amazing, a great choice of both meat and vegetables. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere. Sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Definitely be back.

Visited tonight had the brisket it was amazing! The new chef has added some great new additions to the menu! The restaurant was quite busy but we had great service from all the staff. We will definitely be visiting again to try some of the new additions on the menu😜

First time of being here. The staff were friendly and look after you. The food was bang on.

Had a 45 minute wait for food and pub not busy, nobody told us are came to the table during our wait. when the food came child's mac and cheese had a little bit of water like cheese sauce, pizza was not cooked properly (base was almost raw) sent it it back waited another 15 minutes for next one ,hardly any better so was left.(pizza was taken of the bill but 2 attempts really)

I cannot recommend this place enough. We've been a few times now and we're never disappointed. The food, service, well everything is fantastic! They have a new menu starting today and I didn't think they'd be able to do better than the last one, but WOW! Amazing! We had the belly pork and it was so tasty. And the apple mash -yum! Big thank you to Katie for serving us tonight. Service with a smile is always nice to see. :)
