We arrived about 2.10 on Sunday afternoon, having been let down for some kind of lunch at Armley Mill in Leeds. The menu advertises lunch until 2.30pm. However, when we went to order some pannini, we were told that lunch was no longer available. We had to settle for a toasted tea cake and a pot of tea, both of which were fine but not the healthier option we wanted. We then had ice cream, which was outstanding! On the whole, would come for an ice cream if in the area, but wouldn't count on having anything more healthy.

The Milk Churn is very close from my house, my parents were visiting from abroad and they wanted to have a wall so I suggested them to go for an ice cream at The Milk Churn. They walled there and ordered their ice cream however when they needed to pay the girl at the till pointed to a sign that says "only card payments" my parents don't speak English so they could not understand what was she saying, at this point my father was already eating his ice cream as he was the first served. The girl at the till did not even try to explain to them what she was trying to say but instead in an disrespectful and aggressive manner reached to my Dad from inside the serving area and in front of everyone snatched the ice cream off his hands, my mum is 65 years old and my Dad is 74 years without being able to speak or understand a word of English they felt embarrassed as everyone was looking and left the place with the eyes of everyone on them. A few days later I went back to try to explain to them what was happened and why my parents could not understand and I just found the same aggressive behaviour from this girl and even worse, nobody from management intervened to calm her down whilst she was just constantly repeating to me "is only card payments and is on the board" without listening or letting me talk. So, this used to be one of our favourite places to go for an ice cream but now I don't know what to think I found this incident disrespectful, far from kind (considering the customer were 2 elderly people) and I could even think that there is a bit of racism and because of this I am giving a "terrible" score.

Exceptional ice cream. Other things are available but you can start to loose focus on the main event- the ice cream. Pity there aren’t better price breaks for 2 or 3 scoops….

I have visited here regularly over the past year as it is lovely for children. However, we usually visit on a weekend afternoon and the staff are already clearing up 30-45 minutes before closing. This means being sat amongst tables with the chairs on top while the staff mop around you. Once we arrived 30 minutes before closing (you don't exactly need long to eat ice cream) and all the vacant tables had the chairs on top. No one offered to help sort out a table despite me juggling two ice creams and a two year old. The outdoor play area is great but the toys inside are in desperate need of a clean and are significantly depleted from last year. The toys for children are a huge reason for visiting so it would be great to see this addressed - I appreciate this is a cost for the business but given almost all of the people I have seen there have young children surely it would be worth the investment. The ice cream is delicious with a good selection of flavours - I want the Milk Churn to continue to be a weekly treat but don't want to feel unwelcome and rushed out well before closing.

We heard about this hidden treasure which is only 5 miles from where we live!) and went specifically for the gelatos 🤤 We had 2scoop cones: Hazelnut and Fig/Ricotta (my wife and I) Chocolate and Hazelnut (my daughter Ian (the handsome one?) not only knew his stuff, he actively encouraged us to taste the different flavours - which resulted in our all having hefty cones full of delicious and smooth gelato… The cafe looked nice - but we didn’t want food today- and there’s a good playground for young children. The half eaten one is mine… shows the size though!

We used to like coming here as its a lovely spot for kids to play and the ice cream is delicious. However, we were really put off this week by a rude response when we asked for an alternative milk due to severe allergies. The staff member responded with 'it's a dairy farm, so no' in a vet unprofessional tone. I appreciate its the 'milk' churn, but its not difficult to have alternative milks to cater for dietary requirements and allergies, or at least be apologetic about it. It's 2022,oat milk is not an outrageous request!

Having visited this gem of a place several times with family and friends, was very disappointed during our visit today. We spent in excess of £80 between 3 adults and 7 children, on lunch beverages and ice-cream and the children were using the play facilities. One of the children was told not to play on the swings as the structure was provided for children under the age of 7 years. There was no notice advising this guidence/rule however when I attempted to speak to a member of staff, he was reluctant to engage in conversation and continued clearing tables, I asked him politely if he could speak to me, continuing to avoid me, he said "he can play on the slide I'm very busy" and walked away. I am of the understanding this gentleman is the 'owner', as such I feel that he needs to work on his 'people skills' the rest of the staff are always professional and polite

I love this place! Delicious ice cream and lovely outdoor space for children to play. Today especially I wanted to say a big thank you to the staff. My 1 year old little boy knocked hot coffee on himself- he’s completely fine now, but at the time it was scary. The staff were really helpful and kind, letting us use the kitchen sink to run cold water over the burn, and checking if we needed anything, so thank you very much for your help.

It’s a spot that is quite unknown, but honestly if you love good ice cream, then get yourself there! The milk churn is a great environment for children aswell, as there is a play ground on the grounds outside. There are several tables outside - which is great on a nice day. There is often cows roaming in the fields near the car park which is a sweet touch. The ice cream itself is hands down the creamiest around. Good quality ice cream at a reasonable price. The cones are proper waffle cones, and they also offer tubs if preferred. The variety of flavours is always second to none and you will always be stuck on at least 2 flavours! The variety also changes every few days which is great if you’re adventurous. Staff are always very happy to help and see you. Always feel welcome, and they will also give you great advice on what is great. Brilliant clean service from all members - and they will always give you a generous amount! For those with disabilities, there are 3 disabled bays, with around a 75 metre walk to the main door. After the car park there is a bit of stoning, but the actual walk to the main door and inside the establishment is flat, so is ideal for those in chairs or walkers. However; I would suggest to bring someone along as the 2 gates may be quite heavy to open. Overall, if you like really good ice cream, on a date, with family, with friends or just by yourself please do go and try, you will not be disappointed!

I’m from the village and this pub has changed hands multiple times over the last 5 years or so. No one has made it work and it still isn’t working. Saturday before Christmas with a party of friends with children, the menu was down to pizza and burgers (could be understandable if preparing for Christmas Day). BUT they ran out certain gins, got to the last barrel of Maretti and the place looked a mess. The bar was lifeless and not well kept, it looks like a pub is ready to follow the pattern and soon close (time will tell). I really want this village pub to work but fear it never will. If you’re reading this to make a choice, go to Cromwells or elsewhere until it’s fixed !
