My husband and I go often , staff are very attentive and friendly, senior menu is great, can't often eat it a ll, must say that the cleanliness is second to none, very welcoming just go and try you will not be disappointed, many regulars are often there, once you try you will be hooked.

What can I say! Just wow!!!!!! Everything about this place is AMAZING. Food, service atmosphere.....definitely 10/10

Well we cannot fault the quality of the fish and chips or the restaurants pricing and for that alone we would happily return. What wasn’t so good was the crazy warm temperature of the restaurant wow just wow like a sauna but the only thing that placed a downer on our visit was the service. The male staff member I cannot fault he was polite and professional however he was a complete contrast to the highly miserable rude and stern faced blonde haired older female member of staff who also served us. I appreciate everyone can have off days but no excuse for been miserable with your guests. I’d happily return just for the fish and let’s hope the staff are nicer next time

Great fish and chips cooked the proper way in beef dripping. I went for the whaler which was a tad on the pricey side at £12 but worth it. You need to add in the cost of the chips so it’s about £15/16. I went to the Pudsey establishment, and the signage is unclear so you don’t know where to queue - entry is for pick-ups the other is for walk-ins. The curry sauce was fantastic, although rather stingy in terms of size so a bit overpriced. But in general it was fantastic.

No bread with meals even though we were told when we ordered it was included. Food was nice but portions quite small, well cooked though.

No one showed me to a table so went for takeaway fish and chips the service was very poor from the young lady serving and the food was well below standards I would expect even from a chip shop there are many chip shop that are far better

ate here a couple days ago and can i just say the food was dire. also tried booking in a couple days before we went and the assistant was very rude and unkind. back to the food, my batter on my fish was very wet and was not enjoyable, also someone had taken a bite of it when theyd served it (as shown in the picture below) 1/5 never going here again

Terrible servicio, el personal simplemente se quedó parado hablando con una chica de cabello oscuro y un plato simplemente se quedó sin hacer nada en la caja en el restaurante todo el tiempo que estuvimos allí. Nunca nos preguntó si queríamos nuestras bebidas antes o cuando llegó la comida preguntó si todo estaba bien al final de la comida y el aclarado de las mesas era una broma llegando a todos en lugar de despejar para cada extremo parece más formación necesaria!

28 / 9 para el almuerzo del sábado. Dos Especiales de Pensionistas de tres platos. No había colas y nos ofrecieron elegir mesas, que estaban muy limpias. Los baños eran ejemplares, lo que siempre es una buena señal. No nos gustó la idea de sopa de zanahoria y batata o zumo de fruta para empezar, así que nos ofrecieron un lado gratis con nuestro principal y ambos optamos por guisantes mushy. El servicio fue rápido, educado y la red era excelente, con porciones de tamaño decente de sabroso eglefino en una masa más amarillenta. Las papas fritas estaban bien y acompañadas de una gran porción de guisantes adecuados. Ambos tuvimos un helado de vainilla de postre que vino con una oblea y de nuevo eran porciones grandes. Mi pareja pidió una olla de té y yo tomé un vaso o agua, ninguno de los cuales se cobraron a pesar de que el primero era de £ 2. 50 . Un descuido por la camarera que era por lo demás atento, inteligente y servicial. Factura total: £ 30. 90 . A pesar de los aumentos de precios, esto sigue siendo el valor apropiado de Yorkshire con el mejor servicio de mesa. 10 / 10 . Hay un aparcamiento gratuito detrás del restaurante con un montón de carteles preocupantes sobre terreno privado, multas de £ 100 y CCTV. En realidad, si usted está usando el Ballenero no hay nada de qué preocuparse y no hay necesidad de dar su reg al personal. Cinco Estrellas. Recomendado.

Wetherby Whaler en Pudsey es mi tienda de pescado y patatas fritas para rebozar sin gluten, siempre ha sido, para mí, el mejor y el punto de referencia con el que se miden todos los demás gf fish and chips. Mi pareja y yo solemos comer y no tenemos nada de qué quejarnos. Esta noche, domingo, decidimos ordenar llevar, viajando desde Eccleshill, Bradford, no demasiado lejos, pero lo suficientemente lejos. Al llegar a casa estaba tan decepcionado, el GF rebozado en el pescado era delgado y más oscuro de lo habitual, el pescado estaba seco y cuestionaría el tamaño de la porción, pedí un especial, no era muy grande.

I was eager to review one of the seven branches of The Wetherby Whaler, and on this occasion, I chose Pudsey. There is a good-sized private free car park to the rear of the building. The shop is large, with a dedicated chippy takeaway and a spacious restaurant. Everything was tidy, and the customer service was commendable. The packaging was environmentally friendly. I opted for the Whaler Haddock, which was a thick jumbo fillet encased in a dark, crispy batter. The batter had a colour I had never experienced before, but the taste was excellent, as was the haddock. However, the chips were pale, much too firm, and rather bland. The potato scallop was a bit oily (beef dripping) and, like the Yorkshire fishcake, could have benefitted from being left to drain for a minute or two before packaging. Their fish and chips is the best I've had so far in Pudsey! Crispy batter, fish cooked just right. Chips are of a good quality too. The food is not too oily like in other places and the service is quick. And to top it all off they serve in paper and cardboard boxes which are all recyclable. It has never disappointed so far!

Popped in for a light lunch, no complaints here.

We have had fish and chips many times from wetherby whaler eat in and take out It has always been nice.But im sorry to say todays at tea time the chips were terrible most were bad and some tasted awful we had to throw most away very disappointed.

No tan bueno como la última vez Cuatro de nosotros pedimos té a eso de las 16: 00 Un montón de mesa para elegir. El saludo, primeras palabras pronunciadas, fue “¿Tiene alguna alergia”. Como saludos no son tan buenos. “Buenas tardes, ¿tienes alguna alergia” un poco mejor, “aquí está tu mesa, ¿tienes alguna alergia mejor aún?”. Habiendo sentado con los menús, “hágame saber si usted tiene alguna alergia” mejor. Dos sopas, zanahoria y chirivía, bueno, la sopa de pollo era pobre. Fresco en el mejor de los casos, sin mucho sabor y sin pollo a la vista. No es difícil calentar la sopa. Eglefino y patatas fritas estaban bien, una brecha molesta entre el pescado y patatas fritas que llegan y los guisantes / frijoles para ir con ellos. Todo estaba caliente en lugar de caliente. Personal amable y alegre.

Pequeños peces tan delgados que todas las virutas de pasta tenían muchos ojos morados en ella. Solía ser un encantador restaurante de pescado ¡qué pena!

Clearly now doing fried goldfish! One of the worst fish I've ever had. Overcooked, thick batter and the tiniest fish you can imagine, overpriced poor quality..last time for me, much better chipies in pudsey!

Some of the best fish n chips around either take away or sit in, never dissapointed, lunch time meal deal good bargain, fish n chips side and drink under £10.

Great meal food was great but is pricey for what you get. The service though is amazing never have an issue when we go here.

First time visited Wetherby Whaler Pudsey, 04/05/2024. Fantastic meal Haddock, chips mushy peas, bread and butter, couldn't fault it. The young man who served us was so polite, professional, an absolute asset to Wetherby Whaler made the visit really enjoyable. I visit a lot of Fish and Chip restaurants East to West, North to South and only post reviews when I feel they exceed expectations.

I used both the restaurant and the chip shop. Both are run by a lovely bunch of people. Even when the chippy is busy, you rarely have to wait long for your order. They do click and collect too,if you want to order in advance.

Nice decor. Extremely friendly staff. Quick service. Friendly fellow diners. Very clean toilets. We both had Haddock and chips. The fillet was HUGE and melt in the mouth tasty. We went by bus all the way from Leeds on the recommendation of the fishmonger in the Leeds market. He did us a big favour. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant, and we'll go again on our next trip

Consistently pretty poor now,the prices have increased yet the size of the fish has decreased! 3rd time in a row the fish has been extremely dry.... very disappointed.

Went to grab takeaway fish and chips. My husband asked for a lightly battered and lightly cooked fish to be put in. No problem. I then recalled we needed a small fish for part of our order and called to ask for this. Often, special requests have to be mentioned. I then stood back, to then await our turn. A young man who was on the front counter, turned and looked at me like something he had wiped off his shoe. He explained he was busy and needed to finish what he was doing first. I don't recall his exact words. I pointed out I wasn't queue jumping and just letting him know. I made sure the couple in front of us were aware of that too. They were absolutely fine about it and understood why I had called ahead. This place lost forty quid in sales today, through providing a terrible customer experience. Went on to another chippy and had quite the opposite experience.

Great Fish and Chips either from the take-away or in the restaurant. A good sized car park at rear, but this can become full as the restaurant is so popular. Street parking is also available. Very popular with the locals that come back again and again, so do not be surprised if you are asked if you want a menu. The frequent customers know the menu inside out so do not need them!

First visit after terrible service 16 years ago. Never again. Same quality of service as before. Rude assistant who couldn't say politely that he was doing something and would be with us soon. We left before our order was even taken.

We had a lovely family lunch today. The food was hot, fresh and beautiful always. I had the regular haddock salad, which looked and tasted gorgeous. The salad was crisp and very fresh, I'll definitely have it again.

Unfortunately not as good as it it used to be.

Good haddock, chips also good but get just one bag between two because there's a lot and they won't reduce the price, they'd rather give more.

Very good service, had the 3 course meal fish and chips to a good standard,will visit again.we went at 12.00 so plenty of parking spaces available at that time ,after 12.30 would have been a problem as I noticed when we left at 1.30.

Service is friendly and relatively fast. I've had the regular, special and Whaler special. The Whaler was humongous. Fish was succulent with good batter.

Food was lovely and I could not finish the plate as there was too much. My mum used to love the restaurant and we have many memories of our meals with her there.

I love coming here. The please is always immaculately clean and the food is always spot on! I've never had a minutes trouble with anything. I find the staff very approachable and friendly, there was a young man i think his name is Zack , he was so polite and attentive and as i was dining alone, i did feel a bit like a sore thumb, but this young man made me feel very comfortable and welcome

We used to visit the Wetherby Whaler Pudsey dine-in restaurant every couple of months, over the past 20 years or so, and always found their fish and chips delicious, consistent in quality and good value. Sadly, our enjoyment decreased when, some time ago, they changed their batter recipe, which rather than the previous crispy and tasty golden-brown, became, in our view, rather insipid, soggy and floury (I believe they started using soy flour to make the batter gluten-free), and we started going less and less. We’ve not been for a year, and I’m afraid that our visit today may be our last. In line with their competitors, prices have risen dramatically, but what really surprised us was that not only has the portion size been reduced (plate was actually smaller to try to obscure this) but the fish was rather grey and wet, and the chips had quite a few black ‘eyes’. I’m not sure if they’ve switched from beef dripping to oil to cook with, but the fish and chips were no longer ‘tasty’. To cap it all, you now even have to pay an extra 30p for a slice of bread and butter, although I can appreciate their rationale (that 50% of the previously ‘free’ bread and butter was left uneaten by unthinking customers who had requested it and was being thrown away). Sadly, the restaurant was almost empty when we visited, whereas previously it used to be packed, with people even waiting for a table. I appreciate that business overheads have increased, but to justify the now high prices, and to keep the customers coming back, the quality needs to be top-notch. We were very disappointed today.

Smashing fish and chips all round, lovely staff, reasonable prices, food cooked to order. Pleasant atmosphere, good spacing of tables and carpet help it feel homely and background noise not invasive.

Lady who served us was very rude, needs to go on some customers care training.

Best fish and chips we have had since our last visit. Convenient location, easy parking, very nice atmosphere and surroundings. Very pleasant staff. We expected the best and we're not disappointed.

Service was exellent, young girl friendly and fast. Fair sized fish but didn't taste as fresh, wasn't in crispy batter, not soggy though. Chips were a bit pale, but ok. Mushy peas from a tin l think. I paid a seniors price which was £17 l think so it's three courses but if you have mushy peas with the meal then no starter, but did get a trifle for pudding. So price is reasonable l suppose. I do like this place, everyone likes fish and chips, and we will go again, it does seem to entertain the older generation though. 😄

I was very disappointed with the length of time waiting to receive our plates, and the portions were small for £13.95. Extra for bread and butter was also a low at 30p a slice. Will not be returning which is a shame as used to be good value.

Fish and chips as good as you can get pretty much. Nothing to complain about or to suggest could be better. Tasty fish and crisp batter. Good chips. Everything cooked in beef dripping which adds to the flavour and textures. Tartare sauce and lemon wedges add to the flavours.

Gone downhill in recent years. The food used to be delicious and every server was fantastic! Now, the food is subpar and only a handful of staff are polite. The rest are aloof at best or just downright rude and presumptuous. Will not be coming back.

PUDSEY great fish and chips lovely staff and nice surroundings

We often get take out fish and chips as my daughter has the gluten free range. She is now in hospital, so we pick it up and take it to LGI for her and a few other patients. The fish is amazing, the Whaler is the best. We love how they do cater for gluten free people. Not many fish and chip shops do, the range is perfect as well.
