We are in the area for a weekend break got told by my family no cooking read reviews for this fish and chip shop online they were all mainly good pulling up outside it looked empty one down the road was really busy so glad we went to this one best fish and chips and sausage and chips meal we have had for a long time we will be back when in the area

Rude people and delivery woman food is not good soggy fish overdone chips soggy onion

All I can say is …WOW by far the best fish and chips around lovely hot food great portions and a lovely delivery lady .

Lovely chips, not greasy, and fish cooked to perfection. The side dishes of curry sauce and beans were decent portions too, not your usual tiny sample pot size. So great food and friendly service.

Been using The Mermaid for quite some time now. Food is always piping hot and there’s plenty of it. Plus almost always arrives well before the predicted delivery time. Highly recommend

Fantastic fish and chips! Cooked to order and absolutely delicious. 2 cod and chips, 2 drinks also curry sauce and peas for £18. Good portion size too and friendly efficient service:)

Normally order from here and usually very satisfied. However tonight I was shocked at how bad quality the fish was. Considering how much money I spent on the order I would not expected to have putrid smelly fish with soggy batter. Genuinely couldn’t eat it. Very disappointed

Unfortunately the delivery arrived slightly late. But that did not diminish the great quality of the food. As always it was first class.....

As always the food was piping hot, exactly as ordered and most enjoyable. This really is the "GO TOO" fish & chip shop for the area. I'd never, ever, consider ordering from any other establishment. And I must say our Dog always looks forward to the delivery arriving as she loves the Sausages.

Best fish and chips I've had for ages will definitely have them again. Only down side was after paying realised voukd have got tge same meal on a deal for cheaper. Even though my own fault for not looking woukd have thought the staff would have made me aware of it especially as it wasn't busy at the time of serving

Ordered fish n chips in the shop last night, It took for ages as they was bissy with phone orders and I mean ages almost asked for my money back!!!!! I waited that long, in that time I was waiting with 5 staff not one of them said a word to me, was expecting won't be long sir, sorry about the wait sir, Salt n vinegar on yar meal didn't even get that. Took my money and that was that. Won't be returning.

Asked for extra pickles. Didn’t get any pickles, onions or sauce. So was very dry and tasteless

Disgusting place £38 for 2 battered burgers a chicken and mushroom pie plus a portion of scampi! Called up about the order the man was really rude and put phone down on me ! Yep it was delivered if only I could upload a photo on here ! No stars from me at all , never use them again and would strongly recommend everyone avoids them !! Will be reporting them to trading standards now !!

We come this way for a caravan getaway with friends. This is our second visit and we cannot fault the food. The fish is so meaty and delicious, the batter is one of the best we’ve had. Chicken strips were so juicy and tasty 10/10. You’ll be missing out if you don’t come here!

They gave us plenty of time to chose our order which was nice but when it came to paying the man practically snatched the money out of my hand grabbing my thumb in the process. Food was hot and yum however if you want vinegar on your chips, go home and run the tap over them. The vinegar was so watered down you couldn’t even taste it and i put a lot on there.

we used to order here all the time...... one of the beat chippys I've had in a while and the scraps (fishbits) was absolutely amazing every other chippy there full of grease and heavy these were perfect 👌 will 100% be going back again.....

Delivery driver - not good service

I always order from this fish bar on a few occasions the batter in the fish is just a load of stodgy that gets stuck all over my chips and inedible on this occassion it was like that very disappointed but usually it comes a perfect think a different cook works after 5 so won’t be ordering early anymore

over an hour late and virtually cold. even the cat had second thoughts
