The Merchant in Liverpool

Used to go to this place quite a lot, but it has gone downhill post-Covid. Last time I was there, our orders were delivered really late. When I pointed this (gently) to the pizza guy, he went nuts, shouted angrily at the woman I was with and stormed off. Other staff just stood by. Seems to be staffed by hipsters who are distinctly reluctant to accept they work in a service industry. AVOID, particularly if you're a tourist

Bought pizza from a Robert de Niro lookalike who described himself as "a blade of grass" on nightcrawler pizza, he over did it on the chilli flakes but his pizza was banging. I really enjoyed the overall feel of the place and there was one employee who did a great borat impression and it influenced me to buy a double pink gin instead of a single pink gin.Ste is my favourite ever bouncer, I would ride and die for him. Amstel is cheap and I can do a fashion photoshoot on a budget. My fave place in town ❤

Attitude from the bouncers and door staff were atrocious especially the blonde woman on the door. Was not the only table having issues with the staff.

Drinks took over an hour to arrive. Bouncers on the door were horrible and threatened to kick us out when we said we didn’t feel comfortable having another household seated on our small table as it was against the law. No smiles, everyone seemed exasperated when you’d ask for help, especially the curly haired fella in the cargo pants. Just poor service and overpriced. Wouldn’t recommend.

Waiting an hour for drinks, tripled the outside capacity and kept the same number of staff, service was atrocious, ignored, not told how long it would be when we sat down and drinks came so spaced out. Not coming again

Boris has laid down the roadmap out of the pandemic with from the 12th of April pubs being allowed to reopen with outside service only and from the 17th of May inside and outside service allowed and by June 21st more or less back to normality so it will be great once again to visit area's such as the Ropewalks District which is an area teeming with pubs,bars and restaurants and The Merchant is one such place I Iook forward to revisiting. A cool establishment, eclectic decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar ,its a cool place to unwind in.Our last visit here before we moved into the 3rd and final lockdown was great ,bottles of craft beer which were super especially the ipa's and delicious pizza , couldn't fault our visit, great bar,wonderful staff and fair prices ,what more could you ask for, when we come out of this lockdown its a bar I highly look forward to visiting again, its easy to locate on the corner of Parr Street and Slater Street, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Mis amigos y yo fuimos a tomar algo aquí anoche a las 11:10, debía cerrar a las 11:30, así que nos quedamos por una. Cuando estábamos en el bar, la señora que nos servía bebidas mencionó repetidamente los horarios de cierre, prácticamente apresurándonos antes de que hubiéramos pagado nuestras bebidas. Nos sentamos en una mesa y a las 11:20, la música se apagó, las luces se encendieron y estas mismas mujeres comenzaron a apilar los taburetes de la barra tan fuerte que fue un shock cada vez que lo hizo, ¡muy incómodo! Ella vino a cada mesa quitando velas, etc., la gente de otras mesas comentaba lo grosero que se sentía y cómo parecía que no estaba feliz de tenernos aquí. Una pareja entró a las 11:25 y ella les gritó desde el otro lado de la habitación "¡Estamos cerrados! ! 'Todos nos quedamos impactados porque esta pobre pareja no lo sabía y fue tan grosero. Luego, a las 11:30, nos dijo que tomáramos nuestras bebidas y nos fuéramos. Nunca había experimentado un servicio tan malo y había visto al personal manejar una situación tan mal. En serio, el gerente general debe abordar esto porque honestamente perderá clientes y los negocios del personal continuarán comportándose así.

Como barra de renombre dentro de la industria, nunca esperaría que el trato del personal del bar fuera tan malo como lo fue. La inexistencia de servicio al cliente, los clientes obviamente fueron un inconveniente para la niña y arrojar deliberadamente botellas a la basura no crea un gran ambiente para disfrutar de una bebida.Por favor, contrate personal que realmente disfrute de estar detrás de una barra y hablar con la gente. Éramos una de las muchas personas que decían lo mismo sobre la actitud.

Visitamos para tomar bebidas informales, el personal del bar era amable y un gran ambiente hasta una hora más o menos, el personal de la puerta más miserable que he conocido le dijo a mi amigo que se quitara su tarjeta de cumpleaños ya que no permiten cumpleaños en el lugar. Nos sentamos charlando en una cabina, nada más. Absolutamente extraño

Service was great. The atmosphere was really nice too. I would recommend and will be coming back at some point

Delicious New York pizza by the slice at Nightcrawler Pizza bar (part of The Merchant). Cheap, easy and super quick. Slices to take away or perch. Perfect pit stop and great original menu. Highly recommend.

Hele fijne kroeg, met dj's, maar ook genoeg gelegenheid om met elkaar te praten. We hebben hier niet gegeten, maar genoten van de gin-tonics. Daar is een hele kaart van, dus keuze te over. Fijne, relaxte sfeer.

apareció aquí a mitad de nuestra (aún otra) noche de Navidad. una pareja de nuestro grupo lo había recomendado.Sin embargo, mi primera impresión fue que era un poco sombrío, no muy parecido a algunas fotos en la web. Me recordó a una antigua bodega. caminamos hacia el bar y luego decidimos echar un vistazo alrededor primero. entramos a la zona exterior / jardín de cerveza. frío y el césped astro como el suelo estaba empapado. bueno, había estado lloviendo bastante fuerte por un tiempo. desde allí puedes ir a la pizzería, no nos molestamos en haber comido.mientras que en el jardín de la cerveza tuvimos un juego de pechos inflables. Esto implica volar cuernos de reno y anillos para lanzar sobre ellos. los trajimos nosotros mismos. Terminando nuestro juego volvimos a la barra, pero para entonces el consenso era ir a otro lado. aunque relativamente ocupado, no parecía haber ningún tipo de ambiente en el lugar.No es mi revisión más completa, debo retroceder un tiempo y darle una segunda oportunidad.

bars really nice, pretty and that just bad vegan pizza, very sloppy, cheese not melted as it was sprinkled onto pizza after it was cooked, unpleasent texture, bland and very expensive at over £13 expected better.

El comerciante no es en absoluto un mal lugar de bar / pizza, es muy 'promedio': uno de nuestro grupo quería un cóctel, pero no pudieron hacerlo, o no lo hicieron, no estaban muy claros.En cuanto al precio, no está mal para un mal en el centro de la ciudad para las bebidas.La pizza no me gustaba, porque siento que hay muchos otros lugares mejores, tan baratos como aquí, que no valieron la pena los 3. 20 para la rebanada. La rebanada es bastante grande, pero la calidad es promedio, el queso y la salsa tienen un sabor demasiado similar a la barra de pizza ASDA, y hay un fuerte sabor a masa.No está mal, no es genial, es normal.

Here offers a variety of things, there’s an intimate bar inside that does a range of drinks, also with an outside seating area great for when it’s sunny! There also is a pizza oven here that during the week do half price slices (£1.80 a slice I think) but the slices are huge!! You can also order whole pizzas too, they do a few different toppings, I’ve tried 2 different slices, both were very good! This place also has events which is great venue to host an intimate gig! Recommend for both friends and dates

Visité aquí en el hermoso clima durante las vacaciones bancarias, ¡qué gran elección! Mis amigos habían estado antes, pero yo no, y me encantó y volveré de nuevo.Nos sentamos en el área relajada al aire libre con nuestros diversos sabores de ginebra. Las bebidas eran geniales y de precio razonable. Recomendaría la ginebra de fresa con limonada! El servicio de bar también fue bastante rápido. También pedimos una pizza en el pequeño restaurante ubicado arriba de las escaleras a la derecha cuando entras. Estaba delicioso y regresamos en las primeras horas de la mañana por más. La pizza también tenía un precio muy razonable: 14 para una muy grande o 2. 50 para una rebanada masiva. Tienes que ir y ordenar - no hay servicio de mesa.Era un ambiente relajado, pero una mezcla de personas vestidas para salir por la noche o estar en la ciudad todo el día. También estaba bien ubicado, a poca distancia de otros bares populares. ¡La sección al aire libre fue el mejor lugar para sentarse si puedes conseguir un asiento al aire libre! La música tocó adecuada a la atmósfera y la pasamos muy bien. Sin duda volveré otra vez y puedo ver por qué a mis chicas les encanta estar ahí.

This used to be Mello Mello and was a little bit of Bohemia in the heart of Liverpool night life. Whilst it’s changed owners, it still retains a bit of that spirit, good soundtrack of an evening, with a nice heated garden area and cheap eats in the form of tasty pizzas. One of my favourite bars in Liverpool

Love the look and feel of this place. Has turned from a ‘quick one’ before the main event place to somewhere you can spend the end of the night or get to one of the mNy themed ights.

A friendly fun bar. Lost of food ales and beers as well as good offers on the local gins. A fun split personality with the bar and pizza sections, we’re planning on visiting again next time we’re in the area.

Great gin offer, from sun-thurs (I think!). Always a nice vibe in there, normally play funky chilled out music, and often have dj’s there. Try the pizza from Night Crawler, very good pizza!!

Sold out but not to crowded. Had a great night out with my mate. Nice place. Clean. Good prices. Higly recommended.

Drinks are the price you would expect in town. They were very busy but it was a Friday night. Out side was a bit messy.

Go in for the pizza, stay for the nice atmosphere and boss tunes.

...originally had a fabulous range of beer and gin in a nice welcoming space. On revisiting they've dropped the greater majority of the ale, keeping just those well known really average beers you can find anywhere. I understand the reasons why, and that'll be to do with not selling the throughput required on keg and particularly cask but this bar is now no better than anything else on offer and therefore there's nothing to differentiate it against much better competition.

Possibly one of my favourite places to go mainly because of the gin deal (will never turn down a gin offer!) Turned up last night after the Giant Spectacular for some cheap pizza and gin. Great night with funky jazz all night long!

Have been here a few times over the past year and I love the chilled out atmosphere during the day, the gin and the pizza. Husband loves the beer selection too. The staff are good and serve quickly, even when it's been crazy busy of an evening. Great place to sit and work with a drink and a slice of pizza during the day and fab to visit on a night out too.

Could not recommend this place enough!!!Me and the girls went for a cheeky gin on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to find out about their Buy One Get One For £1 offer! Fit bar staff, live DJ, chilled laidback atmosphere and awesome pizza

Nice spot, funky building, good selection of gin and beers! Only problem, is that the bin area outside was infested with rats, pretty big ones too! You can see their eyes in the photo attached below

...with a large range of craft beer from across the country and indeed further afield and gins aplenty.

We’re usual fans of this place however daytime

Nice bar, have visited here several times for drinks however never tried the pizza. Last night I popped in to order some pizza with my drink, paid (in full) and was given a buzzer for when the food was ready. Came back to collect and when walking away was brusquely called back with ‘excuse me that’ll be £3.80’. When I told the server in question that I was under the impression I had already paid he didn’t even apologise for his mistake or his rudeness. Employ staff with some politeness and common sense please- I was hardly about to steal a piece of pizza from you (ps American Pizza Slice is better...).)

Just a catch up with an old matey. A lovely bar selection with live dj music. Good interior and ambience with the young and restless enjoying their drinks and company.

My friend and I visited here last night and would thoroughly recommend it. We got 2 double G&Ts; for £8.95. Well garnished with grapefruit and rosemary. Didn’t try the pizza from the place attached but looked great and love the idea of it.

I came here with friends, it was very busy but it was a Friday night. Drinks were a little expensive. The music here was great and i loved it but it we came early evening start drinking for the night but we wanted to talk and chat, the music was way to loud for that so we decided to move on after our drinks. Otherwise the place is great and the environment I love.

Nothing bad to say. Most importantly, the pizzas are fantastic, both in taste and value. Highly recommended.

A good selection of craft beer, a good selection of gin and great pizza... what’s there not to like?!

Popped in here for a quick drink, the bar itself is pretty stripped back & basic but there’s still a really chilled out atmosphere which was nice. Loads of gin & beer choices! Didn’t get any pizza but it smelt amazing!

Popped in on a recent visit to Liverpool after a friend from NYC recommended the bar and boy was I glad for the tip.

Shocking bar service, 4 bar staff on a busy Saturday night after Aintree races! Toilets smell so bad as well and the DJ was pretty poor too!

This must be the only place that does not allow entry to people who dress up in Halloween fancy dress or wear Halloween make up despite hosting a ticketed event that is named Halloween party and decorating the entire interior of the venue for Halloween. This information regarding dress code was listed nowhere on the ticket or the event page.

I popped in for a slice of pizza on the run. It was freshly made right in front of me. It tasted very fresh and delicious. The adjoining pub looked like it was quite busy.

Sunday morning outing, kids pizza making and crafts , a great idea to get families into the pub on a Sunday morning/lunch, reasonabley priced, The pizza cook was great with the kids and kept track of which pizza belonged to whom, Would definitely go again
