Good food , decent menu choices, attentive staff in a nice relaxed atmosphere, a mixture of Business and pleasure eating, with good well presented English fare. Will be back!

I have adopted this restaurant for my City client lunches, it is faultless, the food is sublime, the service seamless, nothing is ever too much trouble. Thank you to the staff here to always make sure us (the customer) are always well looked after and happy...

A gem! Outstanding lunch with just enough choice to be easy to decide, rather than overwhelmed. Drinks menu is spot on and most importantly, the service was well timed with courses being well spaced and service in between, done very well. I highly recommend The Mercer if you wish to enjoy your lunch but have unhurried time and space to discuss work topics too.

Office Xmas party..... Turkey was ever so slightly on the dry side ( opinion echoed by several) which is the only reason for 4/5 else everything else was great - atmosphere, service, setting .... Would revisit.... Thanks for a great evening.

My visit to The Mercer was a wonderful experience and my colleagues and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was wonderful from the beginning and the food was excellent.

I have booked one of the meeting rooms for private room for 17 people on Monday night. It was a business dinner with Client attending the event. From a very beginning the contact with the events team was poor- on the day of the events my questions weren't answered at all. Unfortunately it was worst during the event:Please see some points below: - on arrival the room was dark and quiet - atmosphere poor. - there was noone to serve drink or to talk to during the event nobody checking in on the group or serving the drinks - Took nearly 45 minutes to turn music on - Service was just one server for 17; two people left before dessert was served (after 9pm) Considering the minimum spend was £1500 I consider it a very disappointing level of service resulting in my Manager advising me not to book the restaurant ever again. What's worst it did not represented the level of care to our CLients and we feel there is an opportunity lost here.

Came here for my works belated Christmas party. We hired the function room upstairs and had a champagne reception on arrival, access to a cloak room and then a beautifully arranged long table where we enjoyed a tasty 3 course meal. It was a great evening!

We were in one of the tiny private rooms and it was terrible (The Silk Room). Food was ok. Service was good. I would not use that again.

Good spot for business lunch in the city. Decent food and not hugely expensive as others might be in the area. Only gripe and this is nothing to do with the restaurant at all, but the weekday lunchtime clientele is very male, pale and stale.

The website advertises an extensive vegan menu but the reality is no menu exists and the only hot dish is a risotto (the default veggie option for a restaurant that puts minimal effort into veggie food)

A tasty piece of Sea Bass washed down with a glass of Chablis complimented by excellent service by the waitresses. Always a safe bet when looking for good quality food in a decent environment. See you soon.

Delicious, perfect. I loved it. The atmosphere was just wonderful and my tastebuds were practically dancing. The most enjoyable experience of my entire life. Food very good. Our party all had dishes from the set menu last night. Sadly not many visitors given the current regulations but I would definitely visit again. We ate downstairs and albeit there weren't many of us, the restaurant still has atmosphere given the wood panelling and high ceiling. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. Try it.

Cuando nuestros vasos estuvieron vacíos, se volvieron a llenar rápidamente y cada plato salió en el momento adecuado.La comida era abundante, bien presentada, preparada por expertos y deliciosa.Las mesas estaban adecuadamente espaciadas para permitir el distanciamiento social y, aunque no nos sentamos hasta las 8 pm y tuvimos que dejar las instalaciones a las 10 pm debido a las Directrices del Gobierno, nunca nos sentimos presionados.¡Un regalo encantador en medio de una pandemia!Muy recomendable.

A real gem. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome, significant. It was clear to see other customers were also made to feel just as important. I was delighted to see the frequent hand washing along with multiple electronic hand sanitizer dispensors around the establishment. Tables were thoughtfully set with ample space between to allow a safe dining experience. Beautifully presented and full of flavour the food was simply wonderful. A place to be enjoyed by everyone who ventures through their door, I look forward to another meal here soon.

Teníamos el menú del viernes por la noche. Todos los platos eran un poco diferentes. Todos los entrantes que tuvimos fueron excelentes. También los platos principales, en particular el Mercer Pie, una porción individual de bistec y champiñones en su propio plato de tarta con una guarnición de guisantes y zanahorias baby. Dos de nosotros tuvimos los postres calientes pero los dos hombres estaban demasiado llenos y optaron por un helado mixto. Nadie estaba decepcionado. Se incluyeron una botella de Prosecco y una de Malbec entre los cuatro. Por esto pagamos 28 más servicio. Valor excelente.

An excellent, traditional restaurant which is a joy to visit. Linen tablecloths and napkins, even hand towels in the toilets. Service is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. But of course the best of all is the food. We had the Friday evening set menu. All the dishes were a bit different from the usual. All the starters we had were excellent. So were the mains, particularly the Mercer Pie, an individual portion of steak and mushroom in its own pie dish with a side of peas and baby carrots. Two of us had the hot desserts but the two men were too full and opted for mixed ice cream. Nobody was disappointed. Included were a bottle of Prosecco and one of Malbec between the four of us. For this we paid £28 plus service. Excellent value.

Definitely the worst food I have ever been served and as for the service it was horrendous I ordered a bottle of wine 40 minutes later I had to go to the bar to cancel it never ever go back again

The company I work for booked a private dining room at the mercer for our christmas party. The room sat 21 people very comfortably and was located on the lower ground of the restaurant. The booking process was straight forward and the menu choices were good on paper and in reality. We pre-ordered in advance and the service was great, they made a note of everyone’s names beforehand so they could dish out the courses efficiently without little fuss. They were attentive without being too much, and we all had a fantastic time! Would recommend!

Have meant to try this restaurant for years - wasn’t disappointed when I finally got round to it! Classy evening venue with a wide ranging menu. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Perfect for a dinner meeting or catching up with friends (atmosphere was good but not too noisy). Will definitely be back.

No he estado en el Mercer durante unos 8 años y recuerdo que la cena fue encantadora hace muchas lunas. Sin embargo, tenía un desayuno de negocios aquí y fue pobre en el mejor de los casos. El servicio fue lento, y debería haber sido rápido dado que desea entrar y salir durante el desayuno.Las órdenes llegaron mal, lo que me hace preguntarme qué había escrito el camarero. Repetidamente dije el pedido y lo señalé en el menú para asegurarme. Los huevos escalfados estaban fríos en el medio y no estaban bien cocidos en las claras. Had a fantastic birthday dinner here with friends. Food and wine fantastic and our waiter, Giorgio, was excellent! Just lovely. Wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Attended a work Christmas lunch with some clients. Nice private room (for 16) downstairs with classic settings. Only had a limited festive menu but the food was well done, if lacking a little imagination. Table service was very good. Will try again when in the area for the full menu.

Perfectly attentive and lovely staff, we had a private dining room for around 25 colleagues at a business lunch and the venue was ideal. The food was excellent, with not even a minor complaint from anyone present regarding any facet of our time at The Mercer.

Food was generally good - steak was great but could have been bigger (!!) service was a bit slow for a City restaurant at lunchtime. Been here several times and will continue to visit.

Relaxed and refined, great business meeting location

Reliable good service and food. Note however that I booked on Open Table but they didn’t see my booking as said they had delisted so didn’t see it. Luckily they had room but this seems strange.

The Mercer steak pie is quite, quite delightful. Warm fragrant smell of freshly baked pastry, and tender steak stewed in Guinness. Irresistible. Come during a quiet period for a really relaxing atmosphere.

We turned up early for our 6pm booking (around 5.30) this was no problem. we choose where to sit as the restaurant was empty. Order for drinks was promptly taken. drinks served and orders taken for starter and main. Starters we again served promptly. Jazz music playing at a good level. Dorset crab on toast was very tasty, I did have 3 oysters with the starter, very fresh with the Bloody Mary dressing. For the main Calf’s liver, grilled bacon, bubble ‘n’ squeak, onion gravy. Which again was cooked to perfection. The bubble was a version I had not tried before, with peas as the main greens. We decided not to have dessert but cheese, a good selection of British cheeses, these did seem a little cold to be served. The service was exceptional, which I did expect as when we left we were still the only 2 in the establishment. I consider this restaurant to be a good find, great food and service, which I strongly recommend.

The food was fantastic, I haven’t been here for a few years and had forgotten just how good it is! The staff very friendly and attentive. This is not the buzziest of places a bit business in nature but still a lovely experience!

I had lunch here as a guest and therefore cannot really comment on prices. The food was decent quality as was the service.

Apart from us being the only women diners in the restaurant, this was a good meal. The service seemed a bit amateur at first (dropped butter dishes and someone bringing over the wrong order) but soon found its stride and the food was good. Nice old City atmos with big round tables and high ceilings. It has seen better days but we were happy with the experience.

Me gustó el sitio, sobrio, con ese reloj que domina todo desde la barra. La carta de vinos tiene muy buena pinta, con bastantes ceros en algunas botellas y como siempre con una ridícula oferta de vino español (nos falta marketing, o que nos lo bebemos todo aquí). La comida muy correcta. El cordero delicioso, y las zamburiñas ricas, aunque cocinarlas con beicon es como para provocarte el suicidio si tienes sangre marinera. Postre sabroso y abundante. Muy bien.

Probamos un postre de arroz con leche y cafes. Velocidad de cocina adecuada y el tamaño de las raciones medio. LOCAL: Un local muy clásico y algo rancio pero que cuadra con la comida, estábamos todos rodeados de gente de la city, muy curioso. SERVICIO: Muy bueno. PRECIO. Ya sabíamos que era caro pero con lo que tomamos los 6 más cervezas pagamos 200 euros.

I went with a City of London friend to this interesting building near to the Bank of London , it appears to be on two levels and my table was on the top floor via a concrete staircase from the old banking days of this building . the staff are attentive , the menu is of good size the cost of all items is high , for a starter , main course, sparking water and tea £100 at lunch time , very nice but a high price for a nice but not amazing meal

Good service. Well presented premises, but the food was overpriced. The Mercer pie (steak and ale pie) and the Shepherds pie that we ordered weren't much better than your standard pub fare, but we're around £18 each and came with no sides. The Shepherds pie was small, didn't have much meat but had a well made mash. I expected more for the price. The sides were quite small. A main, desert, 2 beers and a coffee came to £50. If the food was something special, you might be about to justify it, but it wasn't. The two restaurants next door were busy, but there were only 7 customers total at the Mercer when we were there and it was Friday night. Better options around.
