Fantastic food, unique taste, homemade sauces, well cooked, reasonable price. Warm, pretty clean restaurant. Will definitely come back.

They don't answer their phone, placed an order and it never came.

Ordered from here for the 1st time as our usual was closed, slightly smaller portion sizes but adequate and enough for everyone, everything tasted nice so no complaints. Would order from them again

Had a great meal here last night. The food was excellent and good value. The service was great. Will be back.

Arrived at restaurant and placed a take away order in person.25-30 mins later the food finally came out( I could understand if they were busy but there was one table in the whole restaurant and no other takeaway orders) I only ordered two dishes! If the waiting time was bad the food was even worse ,the hot n sour soup was neither hot or sour and resembled a bowl of dishwater more than a soup and as the chicken satay skewers of which they only gave TWO in the portion ( every other Chinese establishment I’ve ever been to serve 4 as a minimum) they were so salty it rendered them pretty much inedible! So to conclude apart from the waiting time ,poor food and terrible value it was ok . As you maybe able to tell I will not be returning….ever

We were driving around looking for somewhere to eat and what a find this is. Service was brilliant, staff super friendly and accommodating. Very reasonably priced too!! The food was delicious and we will definitely be going back!

I havnt been here for thirty years, I have moved back to the area and gave it a try. Amazing meal and wonderful hosts. I wasn't disappointed.

What a brilliant place for a meal. We visited for my birthday and had a great experience. It may not look great from the outside but when you step inside, it is very cosy and the staff are very welcoming. Food was tremendous, easily the best Chinese food in Dunstable! Highly highly recommend this place

We love this place for a treat. Atmosphere cozy, I love that it is small and quiet when I go because I hate noise and distractions. Staff friendly, polite and attentive. Perfect service when you dine in.

We went have a dinner at Mayflower to celebrate my grandson birthday. Food was absolutely delicious, staff absolutely amazing!!! They brought even a cake with candles and song 🎵 Happy Birthday. My grandson was over the moon as we was. Thank you team. We’ll be back 😊👍👍

Yo dudes, back again with another review. Little back story into todays review, basically we went to sunny Chapeltown and visited a lovely establishment called ‘the mayflower’ this is not the takeaway we have chosen on here as the one we went to is not on tripadvisor. But they have the same name so hell to it. To begin, this is honestly the easiest accessible takeaway we have EVER been to. I parked mere millimeters away from the front door, so close in fact I ordered through the car window, this saved our valuable/ fragile legs from walking any further than we needed to ( we need our legs in tip top condition for saving mountain goats from mountains!) Now for what you’ve all been waiting for, the food. Overall it was a solid 10/10, just like YO MAMA! To start with we will talk about chips, in the past we have had disappointment, heartbreak and betrayal from other chineses when it comes to chips. So we have severe paranoia when it comes to chips, we often have nightmares where the bad salt n pepper chips are chasing us down a hill. However, these were exceptional, delightful and petrol station. So much so, I would cut oprahs back garden with a pair of scissors, clean the white house with only a toothbrush and jump out of a plane without a cocktail umbrella as my parachute for one more lick of one of these chips. NEXT, we move onto the prawn toast. It was commè cí comme cá, if you don’t understand Turkish, this means chicken. It was not chicken. But in all fairness, it was brilliant! Then we had, salt and pepper chicken. This was chicken. It was not the greatest ever salt and pepper chicken but it was still very nice. Not so nice I would trade a vital organ however. But maybe my asparagus. I’m guessing this chinese found out which came first out of the egg and the chicken as they have definitely ‘cracked’ the code of chicken making. Last but certainly not least, the noodles. These were heaven sent, it was more exciting eating these than it was when I lost my virginity. The noodles were as soft as a hedgehog and as fluffy as a crocodile. They melted in my mouth like warm marshmellows on bonfire night, the night before Christmas (also the night my dad left for a scratchcard and never came back!) in other words they were yummdubilubby. Overall, all jokes aside this chinese (the one in chapeltown, don’t bother with the one on the page I’m writing for) was absolutely incredible and we WILL be visiting this again in the next 60 years, after we’ve been to every other chinese in England. Over and out kangaroos.

We ordered chicken chow mein…got a full breast and very dry and half a portion!! Spent £50 to be very very disappointed, we will stick with Foowa (just round the corner!!) in the future! Don’t buy from them! BBQ ribs were dry, portions small! I would avoid for a family meal as it’s no good! No free prawn crackers and delivery charge since we live in the 2 mile radius 🤷🏻‍♀️

The customer service here was excellent. The lady offered a call back as the wait was going to be a long time to let us know if it would be quicker to collect or have the food delivered as we were close by. Food was tasty but the salt and pepper prawns were too spicy as were coated in so much chilli that my friend was out off his meal. The ribs were a bit chewy and fatty. Friend rice noodles were lovely though as was the beef in black bean sauce. I had high expectations for the chilli beef but it was very sweet and not crispy. I would try something different next time as this was only the first visit.

Went to eat in. First impressions were of a clean well managed establishment. Absolutely delicious food. All the dishes were piping hot and so tasty. The waitress was polite and attentive without being intrusive, the food was served in good time from ordering. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Beef in black bean was sound not to hot just right the rest was not good the special fried rice and chic chow tasted like last weeks roast left overs and the starter for two was burnt and to be fair ruff .

Had a great meal tonight food was on point 1 of the best Chinese I've ever had defo will go back

Firstly the food is utterly amazing and so very yummy. We have tried almost everything on the menu but only opted for takeaway to date. The staff are all very nice and helpful, recently we more often opted for the home delivery service. I have not been to the restaurant for a sit down meal, but it looks very nice and isolated from the takeaway area. It is especially nice that you can ask for specials, for example no english peas or change the level of seasoning to your taste. The vegetarian set meal is very nice, if you have vegan family members. It was a good surprise bonus, great vegetarian option.

With lockdown forcing us to “takeaway,” i was astonished that The Mayflower could deliver a takeaway within 45 minutes to top restaurant standard. There was no difference from my memory of one of the best Chinese restaurants in Britain: the good earth in Surrey, to my Mayflower experience. I’m astonished that crispy seaweed was just that. Flavoursome and not doused in salt. The ribs sublime. The prawn toast: plump and sweet. Crispy duck?...an example to the French method of confit. Never mind the prawns which were outstanding, the real test of any ‘Indo/ Chinese’ cuisine is the staple of the diet: Rice. Easily forgettable normally. ‘Just a side,’ however, on this occasion an example to any Chinese purporting to be just that. 10/10. Nothing comes close.

Got a takeaway from this restaurant and the food was not good at all. They were stingy with the portions and not worth the high price. The chicken satay was indigestible.

Erm...I’m not sure where to start. Visited the area and ordered from here. The food was not great. 2 chicken satay in a portion (4 elsewhere) plus tasteless. In fact all the food ordered was tasteless. There’s no way an East Asian actually cooks this food. Oh and prices are way too high. The only nice part to the food was the free prawn crackers. Huge disappointment.

I got a takeaway from here. The food was absolutely terrible, but expensive. Not worth the price. They were also stingy with the servings. The food is bland, especially the egg fried rice and black bean noodles and the chicken satay indigestible. Worst Chinese food I have ever had.

Had many Chinese from many different restaurants because of my moving area too many times. The Mayflower is the best i have ever had anywhere, and Jean is the best host. I now live 100 miles away and if we visit family that still live nearby. We will book a meal there.

We have been going here for years and have never had a bad meal. The staff are lovely and always remember us. The food is fantastic and they do the best chilli shredded beef we have ever had. Definitely recommend, easy to order and always delivered on time.

We had a takeaway last night a choice by our son for his birthday celebration. The food was very tasty and fresh. The service was excellent from ordering over the phone to the delivery. It arrived on time and it was still hot. Definitely be back .

Being new to the area was a bit hesitant booking a table here as exterior of the building looked as though it was waiting to be condemned and pulled down. However, needs must and desperation set in so took the plunge. We were pleasantly surprised - what a delightful little restaurant! No frills, good clean food and superb service. The phone never stopped ringing for take outs so that put us at ease knowing it was popular. Don’t let first impressions put you off - the quality of food here is great. Ok the place could do with an refit to bring it in to the 21st century but somehow I think it just adds to its charm - a good old fashioned Chinese restaurant, just like they used be 😊 Definitely will be back!

Don’t be fooled by the look from the outside, the food was really nice and the service was excellent.

I was sceptical about what the food would be like as the restaurants frontage looked old and in need of an update. Inside was nice and clean (if a little old looking) but the food and service was excellent. We had to park down the road and walk up but it was worth it. The walk back was slower as I had a big fat belly!

I would highly recommend. Great Chinese, fresh food. I'm never disappointed, all the dishes I have tried have been delicious!

Myself and my wife tried the mayflower for the first time yesterday and we couldn’t believe we hadn’t been there before. We live near and never bothered trying the place. We will definitely be trying it again. Food was really nice one of the best. Everything is cooked fresh not like most eat as much as you like Chinese restaurants. All staff made you feel welcome. And we left completely full. 100% we will be going back and think we have now found our new local Chinese restaurant.

Me and my husband have just had a wonderful meal here! It was eat as much as you like and we certainly did! The food is the best Chinese we have had in a long while, will definitely be returning and would 100% recommend anyone to go and give it a try!

Fantastic service and food at the Mayflower in Dunstable. One of the town's hidden gems. The lady who runs it, is a total sweetheart and her staff member is excellent and professional. As always myself and my friends received a lovely warm welcome. The food is always freshly cooked, tastes delicious and is plentiful. Jean and the lovely waitress provided excellent food as always and service with a smile. We introduced another friend of ours to this restaurant this evening and she thoroughly enjoyed it just as we always do. Thank you once again for looking after us.

My favourite restaurant in Dunstable. Jean and John ( English names) run, cook and manage the best Chinese restaurant in Dunstable, the food is always amazing and I always feel so privileged to eat there, it feels like dining with old friends. I'm Vegetarian but this is no trouble for them, their salt and chilli mushrooms are the best in the UK, I'm sure and there tofu is delicious. As always you two are the best and when I visit Dunstable there is only one place I want to dine. Kind regards Peter

Amazing food. The best Chinese food I've tasted. I've tried Chinese food all over and it by far is the best. The staff are extremely friendly and brilliant. The only downsides are parking is very limited. It's rather small inside and the prices are a little high. But you get what you pay for in a sense.

We always have a warm welcome when we visit the Mayflower. The food is freshly cooked, tastes great and is in large portions. Nothing is ever too much for the lovely couple who own this restaurant and John and his wife have always provided excellent food and service with a smile. Thank you once again for looking after us.

Came here in March 2018, and it was ST PATRICK'S SATURDAY NIGHT around 7pm, we got here and parked up, a bit of a pain for parking?? outside. But it was snowing and was Cold, got sat down and sitting by front window and heaters not on, just warm. so they turned up the heating. Got our drinks ordered and starters, as we all having ALL YOU CAN EAT!! Where the food was really good, even the smoked chicken. The Duck and pancakes were good aswell, the hoi sin sauce pukka, Lovely couple, should be looking at retiring , but look so much dedicated to there place. Down stairs shut off, so there's about 8-9 tables, of 4, in there. quiet night, go here I would suggest..

Wonderful meal every dish excellent, the crispy duck sublime. It felt more like going to a friends for dinner, than a restaurant. A most enjoyable evening have definitely found our new eat in and takeaway.

Would not order food from here again. Worst delivery drivers don’t know where to deliver food then ring you asking if you can meet them somewhere to get your food then took a extra 20 mins to get my food by then food was cold. Try hoi wan never had this problem with them if you want decent food on time

Went on a Saturday evening. They were busy, but took time to chat to you. Food freshly cooked and tasted good.

We went as a party of 6 and decided to have the eat as much as you want. All the dishes we got were really nice and tasty. Prawn starters were excellent so got more. Had the duck rolls again very nice. There were 5 of us so we ordered 5 starters but ended up getting 3 more. Portion size not huge but as you can keep ordering not a problem. Only bad thing for us was it was fairly cold in there. And very dated. Looks like we were back in the 70's

I love chinese food so my husband gets dragged to a lot of restaurants, this is by far his favourite (and mine). The staff are so attentive and friendly. The food is delicious and excellent value for money. Always look forward to returning.

fairly old fashioned restaurant had the all you can eat menu starters were great especially the ribs , the lady owner was really helpful an friendly I had the prawn curry the quality of the food is good but the curry sauce not quiet to my taste but that's a personal thing, overall a great restaurant which I will use again ,not the easiest place to park but worth persevering .

Just been to the Mayflower Chinese restaurant for supper and this place is absolutely delightful. The service from the owner was so nice and the food was excellent. If you haven't tried this place, do so. What it lacks in style it makes up in heaps with excellent food and excellent service. We enjoyed the all you can eat from the menu and the food was totally fresh and amazing. I will definitely recommend and definitely go back.

Went here this evening with my very good friend. The food was absolutely delicious, service excellent, food lovely and fresh and hot. Portions were very good. The whole experience was 5 Star. The restaurant is what you would call a proper traditional Chinese restaurant. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Desde el exterior el Mayflower parece especial. Pero una vez que la comida está en la mesa de notables sería insuficiente. ! La comida era fantástica y las porciones eran geniales. Una velada relajada para el cumpleaños de James. El personal era encantador y el servicio era muy bueno. Nuestra nieta de 17 meses poco, lo pasamos de maravilla. Un restaurante familiar muy agradable. ¡Me encanta! !

Being ordering from Mayflower for years and the service has been hit and miss but tonight it was appalling. After waiting 50 mins for the delivery it came and both wanton soups had spilt leaving only wantons and veg. Worst still, the spilled in the chicken and made it soggy and horrible. We called to complain and the owner drove down and returned £4.50 and collected the soggy chicken, not replace it and not replace the soups either. Extremely poor customer service.

Service, and food fantastic. Staff really friendly and never anything too much trouble. they offer two sizes on rice which is great if you have a big appetite or want to share.

Been coming here for 15 odd years. Food is always on point and portions are generous. John and Jean are always very welcoming. Can't praise the place high enough. Yeah the decoration is dated but who cares? I don't go to dinner to look at fixtures and fittings I go for good food, and the Mayflower always deliver on this!

Delicious Chinese. Big meaty ribs, large chunks of chicken in the chow mein, every dish was superb. My diet has gone out of the window as it was so nice I'm still picking at it as I write this review. Staff were nice and friendly. I can't recommend it enough.

This place looks like it hasn't been decorated since the 1970's, and the food tasted as if it came from the 70's.....Awful, greasy, bland, just awful. So bad, I would never back and would prefer to eat a supermarket ready meal...

A group of us went here last night and had a great night. We all had the "all you can eat" and it was wonderful. The couple who runs this were very accommodating and friendly. Will defiantly go back here if I am ever in Dunstable

popped in as was recomended it was awful tried the eat as much as you want but couldnt believe the standard of the food, the restaurant was empty it was 6pm on a saturday evening, restaurant also needed a good clean

The couple running the mayflower are very friendly and suggest good food. Most of the food was good but the majority was deep fried which caused a poorly tummy in the morning.The decor needs updating but the service compensates.

We travelled to Dunstable on Friday 28th August for an overnight stay. Before we went I checked Tripadvisor for Chinese restaurants in the area, we decided to visit The Mayflower after reading the reviews. As other people have said parking isn't easy but we parked just a 5 minutes walk away in a small car park. Also please do not judge this Restaurant by its looks both outside and inside. We had a banquet with a bottle of the house white wine, the food was great especially the Crispy Aromatic duck. It did get busy and even though the food is freshly cooked it wasn't too long between courses. The staff were so friendly and helpful and made sure we were enjoying our visit. On our next trip to the area we will definitely be going back to The Mayflower.

As someone has already put - not easy to park (they do a delivery service but we didn't have a menu and couldn't find one online) and don't be fooled by the appearance, this really is a hidden treasure. The food is fantastic, staff are pleasant and the portion sizes generous. We had one of the set meals for 2 and couldn't manage it all. Well worth a visit.

Excellent low cost food hidden away and vastly underestimated !! Not easy to park . But worth it when your eating their good old fashioned Chinese food

There were 12 of us in the party and we chose the Eat as much as you like menu. The staff were very friendly and helpful.There were some dietary problems in the group, egg allergy, no onion and a vegetarian and the staff were very helpful dealing with this to the extent of making dishes to cover this. The food was plentiful and tasty. Even though it was a buffet everything was freshly cooked.
