Great staff great food great service highly recommend Georgia and the team were the best Best Fish and chips I’ve had in a long time.

Good roast but would have been much better if the Yorkshire pudding was cooked properly, I had the lamb shank which was nice , the potatoes were good and veg , but the Yorkshire pudding was awful , all the batter was hard and sunk to the bottom , such a shame Starter was ok , dessert ok Service was very good Had better meals but it was still nice

Enjoyed a dinner here with friends in the past week and was really impressed by the service - it was extremely busy being a Friday night however service was faultless. We had anticipated that there would be delays in getting served once at the table, getting drinks having food come out just because the place was rammo. But service was very prompt, really lovely food, so so good. Can't wait to come back for another fab evening

Very nice restaurant right by the River - we have also been there in the summer and its was like a holiday destination - sitting outside in the sun with people sitting on the rivers edge and paddling. Food was ok - the Lasagne was really excellent and well worthy of compliment - fish and chips were just ok nothing wrong but nothing great. Car parking a bit tight in the summer but a public (pay for) car park right next door so don't be put off just pay - the pubs car park is free. Nice to have a walk either before of after a meal.

We were a table of 9 plus 2 dogs looking for brunch on bank holiday Monday. We phoned a few days previous to book a table to be told they couldn’t accommodate us in the dog area indoors but we could just turn up and get a table outside (which couldn’t be reserved either). We travelled 30 miles to come here, paid the parking fee and easily found 2 tables together outside. It was just before 11am as we were told on the phone previously that breakfast was served until 11.30am. The waitress gave us the breakfast menus and asked us to order at the bar. We made our choices quickly but when we tried to order at the bar at 11am another waitress told us that she couldn’t take our order as the kitchen was overrun because it was a bank holiday! This was despite not 1 single table inside the pub being occupied and us easily finding a table outside. We explained that what we were told but she refused to take the order. This was very disappointing considering our previous phone call and having 2 cars travelled a round trip of 60 miles. We were told to order from the main menu but we couldn’t order for another hour as it didn’t start until 12 noon. The waitress was very dismissive and not apologetic. Very poor customer service as far as I’m concerned. We won’t be going back.

Lovely venue. Meal very very disappointing. Expected, breaded goats cheese from the Specials board arrived in a small ramikin dish unbreaded with peppers in balsamic and a few pea shoots, trim. Draught beer flat. Another special arrived with French fries not the expected chips. The cheese was queried to be told nothing is breaded on the menu because of allergies???? Are crispy halloumi and breaded scampi not crispy coated, which were on the menu???? Felt fobbed off and no caring customer service. The ‘flat beer’ was mentioned twice but again, felt fobbed off. Value for money rating , ‘O’. We won’t be returning

Popped in mid week, garden is first come first serve and hot weather we struggled to find a table so opted for a bench. Service at bar was speedy, they seemed to have plenty of staff on which helped. Good food and nice views.

5/5 book early is all I can say and there is a reason! Stunning location by the river, good beers and wines. Great high end pub food. If the sun is out this place will be packed!!

We had lunch & needed to be quick as we were going to a funeral, the waiter was informative on dietary requirements & assured us our food would be on time. All 6 meals arrived together with no complaints, it was a shame we couldn’t have stayed longer to appreciate the lovely river setting.

The staff were welcoming friendly and very attentive. The pub is in a beautiful location and is comfortable inside. The food came quickly and was very hot and tasty.

Really lovely meal, service and location. They have had a 50% off food during Jan & Feb after 5pm, which is a real bonus. Definitely a place to return to, it’s stunning on the riverside.

This pub is in an excellent location beside the river with beautiful views. The food was delicious , the staff were attentive, professional and friendly. Nothing was too much. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning here soon.

I visited the Maybush on a Tuesday evening to make the most of their 50% off food offer. Despite food being half price, this did not affect the quality of the food. The sea bass on the specials was the best I’ve had in a long time. My fussy children both enjoyed the Maybush stack too which was a bonus. The service was very prompt and the lady that served us was very kind. We will definitely be back soon Also the patrons only car park is free but if you park in the overflow you have to pay £2 but they refund it in the restaurant

Although the other meals were OK, I chose their cod and chips. The fish was not fresh and tasted sour. Should have sent it back. Did not eat it all - something I rarely do when I pay for food. It was quite the worst fish and chips I've ever had at a pub.

Popped in with my daughters and extended family after a morning out. The food was nice quality pub food with friendly and prompt service. Lovely outdoor area on the river. A nice area to sit and watch the river or allow the kids to stretch their legs (bearing in mind the proximity to the river). There’s also a nice walk along the river to walk off your lunch.

A beautiful, dog friendly pub overlooking the River Deben with coastal walks on the doorstep. Fabulous food, very friendly staff and when the weather is kind, lovely outdoor tables to really appreciate the location. Offers a great menu and specials board. A must - visit if you are close by. We have never been disappointed.

To begin, I was greeted rudely at the bar, by a member of staff, when i had said i booked a table. Then, about 15 minutes later was FINALLY seated at my table, which was tiny, and not clean. We were not given any menus, and we’re waiting about 20 minutes for a drinks order - i contemplated leaving now, and wish i left. Then, after the drinks order being taken, we proceeded to wait another 20 mins for a simple diet coke and lemonade - didn’t think it was too much to ask for. After this, we then got the attention of a server to order our food. We ordered the nachos to start - is was OK, and did come out promptly. Then for mains i had the Lasagne, which was dripping with oil, and far too much melted cheese, thought i was going to be sick! My friend had the beef burger, in which i was dry, and had fatty parts in - making it inedible, and really not a nice experience. Furthermore, the prices are not cheap, so was expecting ALOT better. Overall, the service began our experience off badly, and the food topped it off, we will not return. From hearing good things about the Maybush, and frequently dining at another Debin Inn (The Butt and Oyster) it really let down the chain of pubs, the Maybush is one to stay away from.

I ordered Sausage & Mash with Seasonal Greens & my friend ordered the Mediterranean Vegetable Lasagne. My friends vegetables weren't cooked through and my "Seasonal Greens" consisted of one piece of Broccoli, 6 pieces of Mange Tout and a tiny bit of cabbage. My dessert wasn't much better, White Choc Tart with Clotted Cream. The Tart felt like it had just come out of the freezer and there Clotted Cream turned out to be ice cream. Super disappointing as Deben Inns are usually great. Won't be returning to The Maybush.

Fantastic pub! Went for dinner to celebrate my boyfriends birthday with the family. Had a lovely meal. Everyone enjoyed there dinner. The service is brilliant and the staff are all friendly. Love the views of the river and all the boats.

Lovely location, friendly staff and food generally very good. The portions were somewhat smaller yet not reflected in the price. Maybe due to inflation and rising costs of running a popular pub but could become quite an expensive night out.

Having been to the Maybush several times and loved it, we decided to have a family meal to celebrate our sons birthday. There was 5 of us and every single one of us had a problem with our meal. My fondant was solid and stone cold in the middle, my daughters prawn linguine tasted of nothing - might as well have been Heinz spaghetti out of a can (actually that would have tasted nicer!). We were asked if we we’re finished when we were still eating yet our empty glasses didn’t prompt an offer for more drinks etc. Very poor service. To make the evening worse the staff were then totally inconsiderate - they proceeded to shove / scrape tables and chairs all around us as if it was closing time and we weren’t even there…we all had to stop our conversation because of it, yet the staff seemed oblivious (or ignorant?) and carried on their own loud conversation which included private / personal problems! A real shame. We won’t be back.

Pub with food overlooking river Deben. Some will think it to be ‘in the middle of nowhere’. It’s popular, but obviously a well kept local secret. DrD

Really lovely breakfast. I had a 'vegan' full English breakfast (basically I asked for the vegetarian minus the eggs) and was pleased that the team had given me some additional items to replace them. Delicious food and very well presented. The Oat latte was very good too. Great service and beautiful setting.

Food was great, location is perfect by the river, loads of seating outside and dog friendly. Table service is inside only but this didn’t bother us. Perfect way to spend our Saturday evening, would highly recommend

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic meal at The Maybush on our wedding anniversary last week. We were fortunate to get a table outside, and the food and service were faultless. The fish and chips was comfortably among the best I’ve had anywhere, and my wife absolutely loved the cold fish platter which she’d had on a previous visit. She may have been able to finish it if we hadn’t ordered the super cheesy nachos to start.

A large group of friends descended on the Maybush for a breakfast and what a treat we had. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. The setting is also great.

Unbeatable setting offering prompt service with the best fish & chips we have had all Summer! Highly recommended for lunch or early supper.
