Great staff well managed and service is exceptional as is the cleanliness!

I didn't eat there, I only stopped for a couple of beers. The beer is kept well, and the service polite and friendly.

Best pub in Orpington, all staff are very friendly and caring especially Arc who always give great customer service and will chat with you, Fridays are also very great especially karaoke nights which are always a laugh

Been a semi-regular patron of this pub for about 2 years and the service of staff and general atmosphere is amazing. my favourite place to go for a drink and some good food. Elle, Flo and Charlotte especially are amazing.

staff are amazing very helpful easy to get to they have space incase you need to park very close to the station and bus stops is very close the food is great the vibe their is 10/10 i love the decor and everyone is very welcoming the community is friendly and the pub is dog friendly aswell i love the pub keep doing what your doing very proud of how far the pub has come and love the new managerment flo is the best worker you can have

Maxwell hotel is a great place to go when you’re hungry and just want to have a nice time. The food was great and the service was good. It didn’t take long for my food to arrive and the staff was really nice. I would recommend coming here if you’re hungry and want some nice food.

Rude, disgraceful staff and racist. Myself and my elder brother recently came here to our local pub for a drink, we are 21 and 24. Upon arriving, we noticed we were the the only ethnic (south asian) individuals of all the staff and customers. They ID'd myself, and then my brother, and for some unfathomable reason deemed my brothers' ID as fake! There was no good reason for this, other than us being the only brown individuals in the establishment. Both ID's were legitimate and they checked my brothers' for quite some time. They then proceeded to try and confiscate it, having zero regard for the fact IT WAS REAL. We returned later with his passport and they maintained that they had the right to keep the ID. One particular staff member who went by 'Elle' really seemed to single us out like we were some criminals despite the disgraceful behaviour on their part. Other customers then proceeded insult us and insist the ID was fake having no knowledge of the situation, taking an utterly discrimanatory disregard for anything we had to say. It was the worst experience of my life and I would strongly urge people to steer clear.

Late afternoon visit for non alcoholic drinks & food. Peroni 0.0 & GUINESS O.O suited us fine. My friend has a nice steak ale pie. The all day breakfast could have been better; delivered on a cold plate with cold bacon and mushy sausages, plus fried eggs (one overcooked) baked beans bread and butter. The cold plate allowed the food to become cold quickly. Just this means I wouldn't recommend eating here. Otherwise the background sounds were sufficiently low to allow conversation. The TV would have been useful for anyone wanted to see sport or darts rather than talk.

Friday nights are always buzzing with Karaoke. Service is super fast as the staff go above and beyond and normally know what drink one is ready to order. Great for sports with big screens at every corner and a lovely outdoors area. Shoutout to Flo, Elle, Chef and the all the staff for making the Maxwell the best motive ever Weekend.

Food was absolutely awful and overpriced

We held our daughters 21st here and could not have asked for a better venue. The buffet was amazing, and the staff were very helpful and friendly .

Came and meet my daughter here for lunch we shared a bottle of Rosa wine and had the hot honey flat bread with some picky bits of the side food was amazing so much flavour and Came out rather quickly didn't even manage to finish the first glass.

Came in for a couple games of darts and few pints beer was nice and cold had a few plates of the starts 6 for 26 pounds food was decent and worth the money

Came in to have a lunch and watch the football great atmosphere pub was really busy but service was great Flo and ellie the staff seem very friendly and happy to help had the stake sandwich and chips stake was cooked perfectly only came in for one and end up staying will be back again soon

Sorry but we were so looking forward to this visit with family and ordered two Sunday roast dinners which was very disappointing. The beef roast was very fatty small quantity. Looked like a kids meal. My wife had the chicken roast meal roast potatoes were rubbish tasted like pre cooked no veg apart from peas and a little bit of cauliflower and the Yorkshire pudding was horrible. Again meal was very small for the price we paid looked like a bloody kids meal. I would ask for my money back but i know I won't get it back anyway. I would not recommend the Sunday dinner to anybody because it's not worth the money. Won't be returning any time soon. Bar staff are very nice and service is great but Sunday dinner like beef or chicken not very good am afraid 😕😢😢

This pub may be just a step off the train (so close to Orpington stn) but it has everything each day of the week from poker to music to darts to food to jenga, good prices and great bar staff . Check it out.

Attended a friend's 50th birthday private function tonight and the buffet food was amazing. Best pub buffet I've had. Friendly staff too. First visit to The Maxwell, very impressed.

Went today for food and drinks the roast dinner was below average brocolli raw potatoes bad quality and not traditional roast potatoes. Cauliflower cheese cold and no one came to check if food was ok. Upon complaining no apology or any attempt to offer a drink or coffee for the issues raised. I asked if I could try a bit of the rose wine which was opened as I wanted to buy the bottle I was told we are not allowed to do that which I have never experienced before. Shame as nicely decorated pub and they show the sports sadly I will not be returning.

Maxwell is fast becoming my favourite pub in and around Orpington. Used to pop in on a daily basis many years ago for a quick pint after work and it was OK then. Since the refurb and new landlord and lady it's much much improved and I can see they going out of their way to make it a community hub what with OAP specials and Kids Breakfast club amongst other things long may it continue.. However the biggest change is they are now dog friendly and even have a pooch menu which is brilliant. Food and beer prices are about average for the area and the atmosphere is very friendly. Well worth the 5*.

I like it here, it's always quiet enough to sit and talk, the staff are lovely and friendly, food is great and everything's a good price! It's never overly crowded even when it's really busy and it's nice to sit outside when it's hot!

I haven’t been here before but I could instantly tell that the recent refurbishment was a marked improvement. Other people were commenting on how amazing it now is. The menu looked superb, although I did not eat. The bar service was swift, really friendly, and helpful about the local area.

Considering The Maxwell has only just recently reopened after refurbishment, we were surprised there was only one barstender on at 6:30pm. It was disappointing that 2 popular draft beers had run out and were not replaced. And to see the bartender and the chef throwing a half filled water bottle in the air to see if it landed on the bar upright was not very professional. Also, our neighbour visited last week for a meal to be told no food was being served due to staff shortage. Not a good start for a pub that's just had a relaunch!

Came with friends and had a brilliant Friday night - there was a dj, great atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food which we were warned there might be a wait for as the kitchen was busy, but came really quickly. Excellent night out, we’ll be back.

Newly refurbished, opened 30th March. Very tastefully decorated and very smart. Good prices too. Only sadness is that if you're vegan the only thing to eat on the menu was chips and a mixed salad, very poor for this day and age.

Awful as wouldn’t accept my Id card which is recognised by the government and the bar staff were very rude I don’t recommend this pub to anyone I think it should be shut down for good

Came for a few drinks as it's a stones throw from my friends flat. Really good vibe and friendly staff, the drinks were a great price too. Nice seating area outside with heating but plenty of seating inside too, which has a big TV too for sport.

Stopped off for a few drinks after work and received a warm welcome from the bar staff. Class atmosphere with a jukebox and sport games on the TVs, lively customers.The pub was clean and service was fast and efficient, would recommend for friends and families!

What an abomination. We walked to the door below the lovely welcome sign to be grunted at like an ox by a member of staff.We were advised there was no entry here but understandably we did not know this due to lack of signage.After this abrupt meeting we walked to the non-apparent usual entrance for my friend to check us in via track and trace to be barked at by said angry staff member to stop touching the bar- which to our surprise we did not know was forbidden. A “please do not touch the bar” would have done but “HAND OFF BAR” demand seemed inappropriate.After another grunt and groan we left as to be spoken to in this manner was deemed completely unnecessary and completely uncalled for.I was completely upset let down and down right shocked and how another human thought this okay speak to someone like this.Honestly, I hope this gentleman finds his peace with his angst against hospitality and does not rest another guest in this manner.Long and short please do not enter this pub unless prepared to be humiliated and spoken down to.
