Nicest curry we’ve had in Shrewsbury. Quality of the food was excellent.

I have to say the food was amazing, my imli starter was delicious and would definitely order again. My Tawa was perfectly spiced, hot but not to hot. The wife was very impressed with her Nargis Kebab and House Special Byrianni to. Difinitely will be ordering from here again

Food arrived faster than expected and everything was really tasty, will order again

Waiting 2.5 hours for food and not bringing drinks that had been ordered was not the night I was expecting. The food is good…once you get it. Requested a jug of water four times but it never got to us. Whilst I understand it was a busy night, don’t book that number of people at the same time.

no notification from the restaurant to say food was going to be late. It said food was out for delivery but after half hour still hadn't arrived!! called and they said they were busy give them 15 mins. Once food arrived it was very bland and lukewarm. shocking service

Iv only ever had this place twice tonight was my third, I got all the way home to find a completely dry chicken tikka massala dry because apparently on their website if it say main it means dry which isn't clearly stated at all, when inasked if I could return it and just swap for some sauce I was refused and told it was my fault I shall never return here and will make sure friends and family don't either terrible service.

Portion sizes good, however meat in the curry was perhaps a little dry, notably the lamb. The flavour of the curry was good though, but I was left feeling a little discontented after spending almost £22.

Food was lovely again, but I didn’t think this time I would have to carve the chicken myself it was a whole chicken leg in the curry as apposed to chicken strips.

No sauces or salad came with the papadum, plus my main was not as advertised (I’ve had this dish before). Purely lazy poor service.

We were drawn in by the poster in the window advertising 3 courses for £15.95 (midweek), which sounded like a good deal. Don't expect starter, main course and dessert though... one of the "courses" is in fact rice or naan, which are just described as sundries or side dishes everywhere else we've been - i.e. we're used to rice being an accompaniment to the main dish rather than a course in itself. To be fair, there is a good variety of rices and the ones we had were enjoyable. The first courses were OK... portion size as you'd expect for a starter, mine was a little greasy but otherwise passable. For the main courses, the chicken wasn't bad (I've had more generous portions of meat elsewhere, but then this is clearly being done to a budget) but unfortunately the lamb was quite tough (not gristly, just chewy). On the whole, the flavours and quality were a bit underwhelming and we're also not keen on the use of bright food colourings (red dye on the meat and multicoloured rice) or vegetable oils (if I'm not mistaken) but there were no ill effects and I suppose we shouldn't have expected too much at that price these days (it's a genuine saving over the normal menu prices). Service was also prompt and attentive, so we weren't unhappy on the whole and I know this place does have its loyal fans, but I think in our case we'd prefer to try somewhere else next time.

A poor and expensive dining experience. Unclean toilets, curt, snappish manners from the first waiter, raw shrimps in the Masala rice and the butter chicken my kids and wife ordered tasted like content of a can of coconut cream ..plus sugar. The second waiter was a lovely lady who acknowledged and offered to remedy the raw shrimp situation, unfortunatelly the owner showed up afterwards trying to convince us that these mushy translucent shrimps we had left on the side of our plate were safe to eat ...because they bought them pre-cooked ! Well, neither were they cooked nor would I have expected proper curry to have pre-cooked ingredients in it , I'll leave a picture for the reader to be the judge. At least the owner finally offered to not charge us for those two rice servings in the end but even so, 70 quid for 4 curry servings + 2 rice portions felt anything but value for our money. Will definitely not repeat...

Das Restaurant wird auf Tripadvisor gut bewertet, also haben wir dort für ein Abendessen reserviert. Aber es war doch recht enttäuschend. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, bloss hatte es - entgegen der Angabe hier und anderswo - von glutenfreien Speisen nun wirklich keine Ahnung. Zum Glück kennen wir uns etwas in der indischen Küche aus. Das Essen kam sehr schnell. Während die Vorspeise noch ganz okay war, wenn auch kein Highlight, so waren die Hauptgänge eine grosse Enttäuschung. Nichts von der Geschmacksexplosion, den Gewürzen, der Exotik, die wir uns von indischen Speisen gewöhnt sind. Alles schmeckte gleich, alles war fade, ja geradezu geschmackslos und - was uns besonders irritierte - süss. Zuckersüss. Geradzu widerlich süss. Alles, bis auf den Reis. Sogar das Naanbrot war süss. Vielleicht eine Anpassung an den örtlichen Geschmack? Aber wir haben schon so oft auf der Insel Indisch gegessen, das kann es nicht sein. Also wir können das Restaurant nicht empfehlen, wenn man typisch indische und bangladeschi Gerichte geniessen möchte. Aber das Personal war wirklich ganz bezaubernd. Wenigstens das.

Absolutely excellent restaurant, exceptional service and tasty authentic food. We came here while visiting the town on 2 different occasions. We were warmly greeted and the food portions and taste was just divine. Really amazing Bengali-Indo food. Will absolutely come here again if we are passing through. Highly recommend. It is clean with a lovely atmosphere. Recommend to all and any Bengalis too, it is really yummy food.

Lovely food, best curry house in Shrewsbury!

We ordered a takeaway/delivery to a nearby touring site. This is outside of their usual delivery postcode, but after a quick call to the restaurant, they said that delivery was no problem for a small additional fee. Food arrived hot, and the order was correct. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Balti, and a Chicken Naga, plus rice and naans. Great food, nice chicken pieces and great tasting sauces. Would recommend if you are visiting the area.

Years ago when run by John, this was our go to Indian restaurant in town. I felt it went down a bit after he sold up but when they reopened following lockdown, the quality again seemed very good. In the last couple of years it’s now become probably our favourite local again. The food quality (and quantity) is excellent with meat dishes full of good meat and there is ample variety. The staff are all very friendly and efficient and I feel that it offers very good VFM. Definitely recommend.

Came across the massla on a quiet Monday night . Excellent meal and service enjoyed by all.❤️ the staff very attentive and welcoming,nothing too much trouble for the team. Would recommend this restaurant and will definitely return next time we are in Shrewsbury. Good value for money.

Easily the best Indian restaurant in Shrewsbury. The service was very prompt and friendly. Portions were generous and the chicken Pathia was the best I've ever had. The fluffy peshwari Nan was also excellent.

Party of four. We didn't realise that we'd hit on 3 course deal night. It was busy, but the service was spot on. Attentive and friendly. Special mention to Mr Ripon for excellent service. Our food was tasty and generous. It was our first time at this restaurant. We will return.

Didn’t have a booking but staff were able to accommodate. Starter & drinks arrived quickly however there was a slight wait on the mains being served. The food was hot on arrival, serving sizes are more than adequate & staff were friendly. Reasonable prices too.

We went for an evening meal a few weeks ago. Really enjoyed it. Food was great, gorgeous Naan bread and impeccable customer service. Have booked to go again.

Ok but very expensive for what it is had a king prawn tandoori dish as a main literally had two prawns and over a tenner. Also when we spend 40 quid on a takeaway no free stuff not even a popadom .Also had lamb a few times always tough as old boots .

We waited over 2 hours for our order, we were offered a bottle of coke to compensate. When I said that wasn’t acceptable, they put the phone down on me. Very professional company. Such a shame as their food was lovely.

Our food was good overall but it was let down by the restaurant being understaffed and the service being slow. We were there for 2 hours and 20 minutes and we only had mains and popadoms. We were overcharged for our drinks and were also charged £2 for some yoghurt, and £4 for an extra tray of dips for our popadoms. This felt a bit miserable and expensive considering we were spending £200 already between us. But our main issue was the slow service.

Very full and very loud, food was excellent but a beer I had requested simply didn't arrive, however I was not charged for it. I didn't leave a tip.

Visited here after looking on Trip advisor , we usually go to Avatar but thought I would try somewhere else , big mistake!! I can honestly say the food was the worst I have ever had and I have eaten at lots of Indian restaurants. My Chicken Tikka starter was bland with absolutely no taste and my husband’s Sheek kebab was just awful covered in a strange red sauce that was a bit sticky and the meat tasted strange like they were masking gone off meat . My main meal was even worse I ordered a house speciality that was supposed to be madras strength and again it was tasteless covered in a bright red sauce but very watery . My husbands curry was a Chiken Rasam and it was so bland it tasted like a soup . The rice and Naans were lovely but that was about it . I couldn’t believe high busy the restaurant was and I honestly thought the food must be great so what a massive disappointment. The only plus for this place are the staff every single one of them was lovely. I definitely will never return here again , left feeling very hungry because I couldn’t eat any of it . If you want a truly genuine Indian curry DO NOT VISIT HERE!

A great memorable meal with my whole family. My family members all enjoyed the traditional flavors in each curry they ordered. I had my favorite and it was still as good as the last one i tried here. Complement to the chef.

I went to The Masala for the first time this evening and I can definitely say I will not be returning. Although the staff were helpful and polite the food was absolutely disgusting, I have never tasted food like it. The starters and mains weren’t edible. The lamb tasted off and the curries were some of the oddest most disgusting curries I have ever eaten. The only things that were nice were the naan breads. I was also concerned at how unclean the restaurant was, the ceilings were covered in damp and mould, especially on the toilets, the toilets were that vile, I would not change my toddler in there and waited until I got to the car. This made me wonder, if the owners are happy for you to see the restaurant and toilets in such a condition, I dread to think what the kitchen that the public don’t see is like. There are many different curry restaurants in Shrewsbury that are lovely but this most definitely isn’t one of them.

Booked as a table of 3 originally, then called up a couple of hours before we was due to arrive to ask if we could add two more people. Wasn’t an issue and the staff were fine. We arrived and the staff were great, sorted the little one out with a high chair and were very friendly. Poppadoms lovely with all the dips. Soft drinks, and spirits fine also. Beer was flat, took it back up twice myself, just no head on them at all. Starters arrived, Sheekh kebab had a weird taste to them, almost off like. chicken tikka starters were very bland, no flavour at all. Tandoori lamb chops were ok, along with the veg samosas. Mains come out, every single curry had no flavour at all, despite us all ordering different things. The Chicken balti had inedible chicken with big pieces of gristle. Two of the curries were sent back, we were offered replacements but it put us off. The sides that came with the curries were ok, the naans were lovely. Staff once again, were very good. They replaced two of the beers after with fresh ones, they soon went flat again. The floater coffee never turned up. Shame really as the place was packed and people must like going there, but we won’t be returning. Avatar and The Curry House miles ahead for curry houses in Shrewsbury. We are from Birmingham originally where there’s plenty of nice curry houses. Food wise this was one of the worst curries we’ve ever had. Staff knocked off 2 of the curries to be fair to them at the end. Bill was still £120.

Best Indian food west of Brum.

On a night out in Shrewsbury with the better half and we fancied an Indian so came here. Did an online booking on the night and received a response within 10 minutes. Restaurant was busy but staff were on top of the game, excellent service and it was lovely food. Wasn’t rushed or harassed to leave to make the table free and was a decent price for a meal for two with a few scoops, would definitely revisit if in Shrewsbury

Lovely warm, cosy restaurant. Went on a Friday night, it was quite busy but the staff were really quick in serving us. Very attentive and friendly. Food was piping hot and the chicken Sagwalla didn't disappoint. The best fluffy nan bread ive had yet!

Great takeaway , chicken tikka makhani / peshwari naan / onion bhajis absolutely spot on! Wait was 1hr 10 but was worth it in the end. Defo recommend

This is the second time that we have eaten here while in Shrewsbury and both times the service and the food was spot-on. We turned up without a reservation and nothing was too much trouble. We were taken to a table, offered menus and drinks orders were taken straight away, no waiting around. We both ordered starters and mains, both were delicious. Our server was Mr Ripon who was attentive, funny and very helpful, in fact he remembered us from 3 months prior which is great in a service industry. He advised us on the choices and did not disappoint. He is a credit to this restaurant. We have already booked for our table next month so hopefully Mr Ripon will be there that night to serve us and make us feel welcome and laugh again with us. See you soon.
