It's too late when you're sat down, have ordered and eaten, but to be the ONLY TWO people in there on a Saturday night speaks volumes. We only saw 2 takeaways leave there too. To be fair, the popodoms were fine. Drinks: No draught beer working, so I was given two bottles of room-temperature beer, meaning I had to have ice in lager... ice that took ages to come because we're pretty sure they had to race to the Co-Op to buy some. Don't they have a fridge? Worrying. Mains: they looked almost identical and we were both impressed how skillfully the chef had managed to extract ALL the flavour. A medieval peasant stew would have had more spice/flavour/impact. If it wasn't for the added chopped up chillies I'd asked for, my brain would have thought my tongue was in the morgue. Were the kitchen staff actually afraid of spice, despite the name of the restaurant? Portion sizes were generous, which would NORMALLY be a ticked box, but facing more of the bland, tasteless slop wasn't. And we were never approached during the meal to see if all was OK or to check on drinks, etc - poor when you remember there were only the two of us in the place. Never going back whilst being of sound mind.

My wife and I were weekly visitors and really enjoyed their meals. As some reviewers say, the best in the area. However, after a long absence we called for a take away. It was honestly the worst garlic chilli lamb we have ever experienced. The meat was tough, the sauce just a bland tomato purée with a couple of slices of garlic and three pieces of chill, no detectable spices, totally uninspired, boring and frankly inedible. Hopefully, they were having problems with perhaps no chef but this was the meal they chose to sell us and it deserves the strongest condemnation - it was dreadful. We will certainly never give them an opportunity to redeem themselves. That was their offering and it was thoughtless, unimaginative and an insult.

Gem of a find via a quick Google search on our long journey home from mid Wales this evening. Really excellent food, served v promptly: all 3 dishes we tried were delicious, incl the enigmatic "Chef's Creation". We rented a barn in Pontesbury and got a takeaway from this restaurant (lockdown meant that we couldn’t eat at the restaurant). The food was some of the best Indian food we’ve ever had. The chicken was tender and succulent, the sauce was delicious and the sag bhaji was absolutely delicious. Try the chicken Jaipur an chicken dupiaza. Incredible!

So we visited Balti Spice after finding it on Google maps as one of the only curry houses in the area. We wasn't sure what to expect but to our delight we wasn't disappointed. We were greeted by a warm welcome, and shown to our seat. And then given a menu . The prices were fair and there was a good range of food for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Food was quick and prompt to come out and was delicious. We never felt rushed and staff were extremely attentive and friendly With the bill we were given some chocolates which my wife decided to have both :-/. Overall a very good experience and would visit again.

When we arrived and took our seats we thought what a nice room. The menus arrived and we were asked what we would like to drink. I asked to see the wine list and when these arrived the waiter said, quietly to me, there is only Sauvignon blanc. So we all agreed that is what we would have as there was no other choice. The main course was very good, Tandoori King prawns and Nan bread both hit the spot. My son had a curry and said it was good. After the main course the waiter asked if we would like anything else and in the next breath said there is not any ice cream. That was code for there are no deserts! Is it me? I think its reasonable to expect a choice of wine and a desert in a building with a sign outside that says restaurant. Never again will I waste my time and money at the Fawlty Spice in Pontesbury.

Our first visit to Balti Spice was a throughly enjoyable one. The staff were excellent with prompt service and told us the history of the building being an Old bakery. It was lovely to see that they retained the old bakery ovens as part of the restaurant decor features. We have often eaten at the Balti Spice but haven't been for a long time. The food wasn't so great last time we went. But it's back to usual and we had onion bahjis to start and I had a combination dish chicken dhansak and mushroom Balti. It was delicious and portions are not too oversized so finished it all. It seems a shame that more people don't go, we are quite often the only people sitting down.

We only visited the Balti Spice on a Saturday night, by default, as we originally had gone out to the Lea Cross Tandori our usual venue, but ended up walking out of there after waiting and being ignored for 25 minutes. (another story !) So the last time we had been to this Balti about 6 years ago and it was just "average" so thought we would give it a go again. The staff on Saturday were friendly and efficient found us a table and took our order straight away, & I have to say that the Biriani I had was very good indeed and for the presentation it had the edge on any Indian meal I have had for a long time, so I was very pleased. Chatting to the owner after the meal he told me that they had been running the place for 5 years, and was pleased we had given the place another go.I will be happy to visit here again,

Placed a telephone order on Saturday 27th February at 7pm. We're told our order would arrive in an hour. At 8.30. My partner telephoned to ask how much longer we would have to wait and was told as it was Saturday they were busy but the food would be with us in a couple of minutes. He then very rudely put the phone down whilst my partner was still speaking. At 8.45 the food arrived, as we were plating up we noticed a pilau rice was missing so I then telephoned and was told they were sorry but very busy and could they sort the problem when we next ordered. As we had already paid and at this stage very hungry and fed up I said no, then I was told it would take 20 minutes to bring the rice. As we live in minsterley and they are based in pontesbury, less than a two mile journey I insisted they deliver immediately as the rest of our food was getting cold, this they did. Their attitude is disgraceful. Customer service appalling and if they are too busy to provide a delivery service. Don't advertise one. We will never use them again and will never recommend them in a positive way.

My husband and I had previously visited this restaurant a few months ago and we found the food and service to be really good. However, I visited this restaurant with a friend last Saturday 29th August and it was more than disappointing. When selecting the dishes, I asked the young waiter what sauce was in the Garlic chicken, to which he replied, "I don't know". I remarked, "You don't know"? He said that only the chef knows that. He then proceeded to wipe his nose on his hand. Disgusting! We ordered our starters of Sheesh Kebab. It arrived soaked in a bright red colouring which was very unappetising. The main course was exactly the same; the chicken was covered in a bright red colouring the sauce was very dry and totally unenjoyable. What a shame. I can only assume that the chef has changed, because this is not what it was several weeks ago. I will not be returning. Also the place was completely empty on a Saturday night!!?? There was myself, my friend, another couple and an elderly man, and two girls in the restaurant the entire evening. It speaks for itself. I wish we had gone to Zenna's. Please owners, make an effort to improve Balti Spice.

Ate here Wednesday just gone with my wife. Chose Wednesday evening because we like quieter rather than noisier, plus we wanted to investigate the Wednesday Night Special - a four course £9.95 meal deal. From start to finish the service was superb - very friendly, courteous and professional - faultless in fact. The same goes for the food - it was fabulous. Given the set price, we expected the portions to be a bit skimpy or to have to choose from a restricted menu. Not a bit of it - the portions were great and diners get to choose from the full menu; papadoms and pickles; any starter; any main dish plus any rice or nan bread; coffee and chocolate mints. We ordered mixed kebab and prawn puree to start, followed by chicken Jaipur and chicken tikka naga for mains with mushroom pilau rice (and 2 x cheese nan bread as an extra), followed by coffee. The food quality was superb and the portion sizes were generous. The coffee was a cut above too - very nice and served with cream and brown sugar plus chocolate mints. At any price this was one of the best Indian meals we've enjoyed. All for the bargain price of £9.95 each plus the cost of a couple of nan breads and two lagers.Summary: a great meal at a great price - very highly recommended.

We've been here a few times on the Wednesday special offer (4 courses for £9.95) but this time we decided to try them out on our family - London-based and can often be difficult to please. Plus we have a new fiancée who is of Indian extraction. No problems here - we had a variety of dishes and asked for the "Chef's Head" as we'd been told previously that this would be traditional Bangla Deshi food (as opposed to Anglicised version). All we had to state was chicken or lamb and the chef came up with the dish. As we had 2 chicken on order we wondered if there would be too much of one dish, but the manager explained they are all uniquely created and "if the Chef hasn't got more than one dish in his head then he wouldn't be working here" And we ordered a couple of normal dishes to give a spreadAnd it was true - really great range, very reasonably priced and the family can't wait to go back:-)

We often have the takeaway on Saturday nights with my family (always a large order and they always get it right!) I've tried several different curries and they're all beautiful and full of flavour, my personal favourite is the chicken Balti as I'm more about flavour than spice! We suddenly found ourselves with enough time on our hands to go out and have a meal, so the two of us arrived without booking and were seated immediately. We have eaten here many times before and the staff and the manager are always very friendly and attentive. Unusally I picked a more basic starter of Onion Bhajis, which were light and delicious, I've had these in other restaurants where they can be stodgy. My partner had the stuffed pepper which she enjoyed. For mains we both had different birianis which were delicious, my partner requested to change the vegetable curry that comes with this, for sag aloo, which they were happy to do. Both these meals were delicious but the piece de resistance was the peshwari nann bread which was incredably light and airy. All of this with complimentary popadoms and dips and coffee to follow, for only £9.95 is such an amazing deal.We highly reccommend you give it a try, I know we will be back soon!
