The Marsh Mills Beefeater in Plymouth

We had a group of 16 people and were made really welcome, service was good and meals came out fast and as ordered (which given we had a large group doesn't always happen) staff were friendly, cost was as expected so all in all good. Oh yeah, and the loos were clean.

ALL YOU CAN EAT BREAKFAST, MARSHMILLS, PLYMOUTH Have not been to the Beefeater at Marsh Mills for a good few years. My daughter insisted I take her there for the all you can eat breakfast on Tuesday 29th October 24. As soon as we got into the restaurant (around 9.45am) it was heaving with families. We waited at the reception table, to be seated, for a good 12 minutes, not a good start. When someone eventually showed up I continued to pay for the food (£10.99 kids under 16 go free). I paid via contactless and 4 times my card was declined, not my error! The woman changed the machine and it worked. We got seated and proceeded over to the help yourself area - the queues were long and the majority of the food trays were empty! We had to wait another 10 minutes or so before they were restocked. The bacon has to be the worst bacon I have ever had. Far too greasy and more fat than on the bacon itself. The staff hospitality was awful and they just looked flustered. To cut a long story short we wont be going back! Oh and 2 hours after leaving I had serious stomach pains which lead to bad Diarrhoea!

Visited with my daughter. Staff warm, welcoming and attentive throughout visit. Food was good, can recommend Chicken flatbread and Lasagne. Would visit again based on staff alone - Thank you.

Service was terrible so slow we were their for 2 hours and only had a main. Portion were not very good The place itself is very good Must of been a bad day

I am Coeliac, so I have to eat Gluten Free, and my friend is Vegan. The menu has a very good choice for both of us, including starters and puddings, as well! The restaurant chefs produced very lovely cooked delicious food. Georgia couldn't have been any better as our server - she's so friendly, smiley, bubbly, and kind. She made sure all of our allergies and dietary needs were met and that our courses came out in a timely manner after each other. She remembered what we'd asked her about in advance and made our experience so much happier, comfortable, and smoother - we felt valued, cared for, and listened to. We couldn't have asked for anything better. We hope to see her and the team again soon!

Pleasant place to eat, food is well presented, portions ample, tasty, good choice on menu, standard pricing and service good.

No roasts available at 3pm on Sunday. Slow service, always short on staff. Food average at best.

Food was average at best, chips were cold and stale, salad was uninspiring. The service was absolutely abysmal, staff spent majority of time discussing their shifts or running around the bar like children when they weren’t all back of house chatting. Had to ask twice for someone actually come out to serve on bar. Wouldn’t recommend for food or service

Great value for money and lots of choice, English Breakfast hot food was hot, the Continental was filling, only negative was that the toasting machine burnt the toast so needs to be turned down! Great service by staff!

What a visit!! Came in with a 4 adults 4 children on Sunday evening, and was looked after by Georgia from start to finish and she was brilliant from the get go.we have 3 young children with us and she was great at entertaining them and making there trip just as fun. She had very good banter with the adults on the table throughout the visit. Food was lovely. Had starters, mains and Desert and each dish was on time and tasted lovely. We did want a carvery that was the reason on booking and they had ran out and that was handed well by Georgia! So will have to try and come in to try it next time. All the other staff I came across was also very lovely and friendly, looks like you guys have a good team so well done.

Went for a lovely evening meal from the set menu. Bill came to less than £50 for two including drinks. We visit a lot and always enjoy the food and friendly staff. Always good value for money. 5 stars 🌟

It was a typical Beefeater experience. The boys both loved their adult chicken burgers, which were very nice. My wife has the steak stack, with 3 different steaks. One was crap, one OK and one good. I had the Ribs and Chicken combo meal, which was nice if somewhat lacking in meat, especially the ribs. The place was clean and the service was OK. They were cheeky busy but not full, I didn't appreciate having to wait 45 minutes after ordering for the fire to be delivered when you know it's mostly come from a microwave but there we are. Would I go back again? It wouldn't be my first, or even 10th choice, however if we had a voucher I'd consider it. I think you can get a much better meal for less elsewhere but I'll say again, the chicken burger was very good so if that's your thing and you don't mind waiting it's worth a try. Lastly on that note, my youngest really wanted a chicken burger and the only option was an adult size one. We didn't think it would be an issue as we'd take half of it home for leftovers. When the time came not only did they not have containers for leftovers, I received a very odd, partial confused / disgusted look look from the waitress. She then proceeded to try to handle it at the table, no washing of hands and wrap it in the closet napkin. Not great customer service there.

Although the restaurant was empty so no atmosphere ,Georgia served us she was efficient and polite 5 stars for her service ,food was average and tbh overpriced but served well by Georgia.

Booked for a late supper 8.00, waited a bit to be seated, then waited a while to be served drinks. I used the bathroom, it was very grubby with tissue on the floor in the toilet and in the entrance lobby. The restaurant floor was also very messy. I understand that there has probably been a busy period, but a quick tidy between customers is always a good idea. We had the sampler steak which was great and our waitress Milly was lovely.

Stayed at the hotel for work back in April 24, breakfast was included at this restaurant. Lots of variety to choose from and displayed well and looked very inviting , Kirsty was friendly and welcoming, service was very good. Steve freshly cooked my breakfast to order, full English was hot, well cooked and set me up for the day. 😊

Really Lovely food and brill service from Judith

Our server Georgia was super friendly and helpful. We had a few questions regarding gluten freeband vegan options and she gave us all the assistance we could hope for. The food was well presented and we did not have long to wait, which was appreciated as we were all hungry after a long day of travelling.

Went here today for my daughters 12th birthday and it was amazing I had the mixed grill and my daughter had the steak and it was delicious. The staff were amazing gave my daughter a bag of lolly pops and a bday card and also brought her out a croissant with a candle on singing happy birthday completely off their own back (they asked earlier if my daughter was going to have cake and she said no she didn't like cake but love doughnuts croissant was the closest they had lol). Highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back.

Usual beefeater, you get what you pay for but don't expect ambiance just lots of noise.

Went for a family meal, excellent service from Judith B, Food took an hour to arrive after ordering, plates were cold chips luke warm and some were hard for triple cooked. Disappointed with dessert apple and blackberry crumble as it came from a tin. Custard was cold.

Mediocre offerings of poorer quality produce not very well cooked and poorly presented. Waitress was amazing and seemed to be on her own doing reception meet and greet, showing to tables, taking orders and dashing behind the bar when she saw someone waiting!!! All this with a smile on her face and time to be pleasant!! Shall not return.

Don't order fish and chips It took me a while to dismantle the batter and still to this date dont know where the fish was . There were w of us seriously there was more fish in a fish finger than both portions . We were not impressed Have 2 nights here won't be eating in here the 2nd night

The staff are about as friendly as a lion caught in a electric fence very rude, ignorant And the man’s toilets, the cubicle door does not lock so people open the door when you are on the toilet and I’ve seen cleaner toilets in India plus we had to clean my own table to sit down and eat

We hadn't booked but the lovely door staff made us feel welcome and immediately sat my husband and self at a table for two. Our waitress Kayleigh was very welcoming , attentive,polite and super efficient. Made our dining experience enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious. I'm a vegetarian and sometimes find it hard to get good dishes. I had spinach and ricotta lasagna with steamed veg and my husband had a steak. We were both very happy with the dishes ..my husband is an X chef so we're used to good flavoured food and this didn't disappoint at all. We then shared a lovely KitKat Sunday . Gorgeous. With 2 drinks each we had a lovely evening. The customer service at this particular Beefeater was absolutely amazing. Thank you

Went to the marsh-mills to celebrate a family members birthday The meals were great well cooked nice and hot and the menu choice is very good The waitress that served us was laren very helpful and good knowledge of the.menu she explained everything really well nothing was to much trouble

Our host Josh was amazing. Made our visit so worthwhile and we celebrated very comfortably. Very grateful they helped us with extra people for the party! Much appreciated thank you Josh!

Had a lovely early evening dinner with Kayleigh attending to our every need. A very polite and helpful young lady 😀 definitely recommend and the steak tonight was perfect.

Our server was called Georgia, and what a lovely young lady she is , so polite and helpful took time to talk to us and was very attentive, the food was amazing very well presented, hot, very fresh and tasty. 😋 (compliments to the chef's ) didn't have dessert as we were both to full , but by looking at what was being served to others customers we wished we had room for one , but next time it will be a must ,. Parking was a breeze plenty of spaces to be had , this wasn't our first visit and it certainly won't be our last we highly recommend the beefeater, thank you for your great service , see you again soon 😀

I stay here all the time with work . Food is excellent, restaurant always has a good atmosphere. You can eat in the bar area too . All the staff are great but one member of staff Millie stands out from the rest , always a lovely smile to greet you and nothing is a problem

We had a family meal here and the food was delicious. If you're having the set menu, make sure your drink is one of the included ones, it wasn't made clear to us.

This was my first visit to this Beefeater. We were left to wait at the entrance to be seated for 5 minutes, nobody seemed overly interested in greeting us however, our waitress who served us throughout the majority of our visit was funny and helpful. Food was hot and fresh and tasted good. A different waitress asked I wanted sauce for my steak which when I asked for BBQ, it never came and I was charged for it on my bill. It took an enternity to get our bill once the original waitress has possibly gone home. I couldn't be bothered at this point to dispute the sauce so we paid and left. It is very dated in this restaurant and you can tell it is 25 years old.

The current Google review score of 3.9 is about right, distinctively average. One of us had the Steak Pie which she enjoyed, I had the mixed grill, chicken was cold, the sausages and steak was just above warm, steak tasted nice though, and the chips were good. The other dish was the Salmon, overall nice but to pay £4.99 for "two" average sized additional king prawns was daylight robbery, I thought they may have dropped a few on the way to the table. Prawns probably the same price you would pay if you were getting served by Salt Bae.

We had a table booked for 7:30 and arrived at 7 :25 while we were waiting a member of staff was seating a couple of people in front of us she took them to their table and didn’t come back we were stood waiting to be seated and at least 3 member of staff seen we were standing there and totally ignored us we told them we were waiting and we were told someone would be with us by the time we were seen to we had waited for about 10 minutes when the member of staff turned up she said sorry to keep you waiting but she didn’t seem sorry she was rude and looked like we were disturbing her it’s not the first time that we have been there and has to wait at least before they seemed generally sorry I take it that the member of staff was in charge as she was wearing a white blouse she is in the service industry I expect her to do her job

Lovely meal with the family, friendly service.

A fair dining experience though always seems like they're understaffed.
