Sainsbury's Café in Plymouth

I do visit here every couple of weeks for breakfast before shopping, simply because the full veggie breakfast is such good value; that said I am not impressed that they have changed it from two eggs to one and replaced the second egg with a second hash brown!

Came here several times while staying at the premier inn across the road. The breakfasts are far better value for money and cheaper than a premier inn breakfast. The cafe is spacious, and exceptionally clean. The all day breakfasts are lovely and the staff are very polite and welcoming. I particularly noticed how they greet you and are attentive when bringing your food as if you are in a proper restaurant. All credit to them, they’re doing a wonderful job. I Purchased 2 x All Day breakfasts to be presented with a very small breakfast with a very small quantity of beans. When I asked very politely for some more beans, I was told that’s the portion because it was a small breakfast! (It was a large). At no point was I even given the option to buy anymore. Awful service and diabolical food portions.

Friendly staff, very good food, reasonably priced

Ceiling still leaking, not good to be sat next to buckets. This has been going on for quite a while.

Only given 1 star because although the tomato soup was lovely the fish chips & peas were absolutely diabolical, the worst my husband has ever been served. He only ate it because he was very hungry. We presumed the 15 minute wait for the food was to overcook it & then let it dry out completely. Not impressed whatsoever!

Moreover, Sainsbury's also values customer feedback and opinions. They have an online survey where customers can share their shopping experience and provide suggestions for improvement. I have personally taken this survey and have seen some of my suggestions being implemented, which shows that they truly value and consider their customers' opinions.

A well stocked supermarket. Clean and friendly. Had the breakfast with coffee, great friendly service, and a good tasting, well presented breakfast at a very reasonable price.

Friendly staff. Limited but perfectly adequate menu. Really nice for after shop treat.

Dreadful place!.. no atmosphere, food choices diabolical, queues, people waiting ages to be served, staff looking, and wandering around and not helping with food orders!.. get a grip or decent management 🤔

Not that bad. Given the sheer number of vegan options in store, the choice at the cafe wasn't all that great. Just a sausage roll and a doughnut. Wasn't able to ascertain if the shroomdogs and mash was vegan as nothing was labelled. Not bad for a quick pit stop before shopping

Got our order wrong then told the lady she got us the chips with our breakfast then we waited to pay while dinner getting cold then we thought we can pay after as our breakfast was getting cold nothing arrived then she brought the chips and said u must pay!! We said we will once we have eaten as we have spent 13 already and chips were only 2 pounds. She said no pay now don't matter if food is cold... disgusting service full of oaps who have no knowledge or customer service skills DONT RECOMMEND

Staff need a bit of training on how to relate to customers.

Service. Guys were very busy and clearly under pressure, polite and they did there best. Food. Unusually poor. Egg was rubber, sausages just cooked, hash brown more akin to a broken shard of concrete wall. I say unusual as normally a high standard

Popped in at the cafe at Sainsbury's in Plymouth this a.m.....the staff were really helpful and friendly...even clearing up quickly to keep the place tidy...It was early so quiet...Great!

Food cold some not fully cooked .

If I could I would have given minus star. After 20 minutes waiting we were told that there is no beef lasagna my original order. I was given vegetarian lasagna instead which consisted nothing else than tomato and onion. My friend fared even worse he ordered chicken burger and was given all day breakfast without the choice because this was on the order paper never ever come here again.

I had eggs and bacon really delicious staff efficient and not long to wait.

Only popped in for a quick drink, what a mistake. I don't blame the staff, they are just understaffed. The staff working, we're as friendly and efficient as they could be, but when there is a long queue, management need to recognise, more staff are needed. We won't be back, unfortunately, as it was a nice pot of tea. I'm just glad we didn't want food!!!

Food was good but it took 25mins to arrive

It has not improved at all since lockdown, not like it used to be at all.

Was highly Dissapointed went out with mum and orderd fish and chips. It said beer battered was so looking forward to it till it turned up and it was a cheap frozen fish so sent that back

Our visit started with a bit of a wait to get served. When we did the staff were all really friendly. There's a good selection of items on the menu from lunch type food to hot meals. There's also some delicious drinks and cakes. There's massive seating area which has loads of space. I was slightly disappointed as I ordered a brie and Cranberry baguette but as they were out of baguettes I ended up with a bap which wasn't the greatest replacement.

Food absolutely dreadful. The salmon I had was dry and crispy at one end where it has been over-microwaved, the green beans were barely warm, undercooked and had not been topped and tailed, horrible. The new potatoes were microwaved but not enough and again underdone. My husband had soup and a meal and they wanted to serve him both at the same time, crazy. The soup was like a can of tomatoes with herbs sprinkled on and was so thick you could almost stand a spoon up in it. His steak and ale pie was completely covered in gravy to hide the fact it had been in the microwave from frozen (still cold in parts) and therefore soggy. The mash was instant and the garden peas not hot. No-one bothered to ask why we had left almost all our food. Dreadful experience, will never go again. The one star was for the lovely staff. Also it took them half an hour to serve it and hardly any customers in. Lord knows what it would have been like on a busy day

Lovely friendly cafe with a good selection of reasonably valued food

Has gone done hill, and it's nothing to do with Christmas. Appalling management response, pretty much like it or lump it. Ordered fish chips and mushy peas, chips are luke warm with an odd taste, but also look like they have been recooked and mushy peas have dried out top. Hot drink, whilst his tasted great, was overpriced. Used to come in a lot, as liked the staff, but now it will only be if there is a zombie apocalypse....

Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Food is usually really nice. Only had 1 bad meal in 50+ visits.

Always queues, staff very slow, can not multitask

It would be better if the people who only require a sandwich or sticky cake could get served if the coffee counter was opened at the same time as the lunch counter.

Waited 10 mins in a long queue, during that time they only served 2 customers, decided it was better to cut my losses and go somewhere else rather than wait.

This cafe is quite nice. The staff are friendly, it's fairly priced, the portions are decent. I'll certainly return.

Lovely food but a terribly long que.....its like that every lunch time....no good for anyone in there lunch break.

We have been there twice in the last week, and whilst the food was ok the counter service was very slow and the 2 people working there did not look happy to be there.

Good coffee and friendly staff but it's annoying that the express drinks counter is always closed. It means if you want a quick drink and snack you have to queue with those wanting meals etc. This can put you off getting a quick drink when shopping in-store.

Stopped of for a quick breakfast bite. Had a cup of tea and a bacon roll. The bacon roll was tasty and the cup of tea nice and warm

I rate this based purely on my experience of supermarket cafes. It's was a bit slow and the staff weren't very switched on but we did get what we ordered and it was exactly what you would expect from a supermarket cafe quality wise.

Que' s for ages for a coffee. Snack bar closed as usual. Rubbish.

Food ok but queue at lunchtimes dreadful and slow

Lack of staff at peak times causes long wait food and drinks. Why not employ more people and open the drinks only bar instead of it lying idle.

Not enough staff and coffee bar never open these days. Mary however is amazing, great customer service when she is working

Big cafe but when I asked do you get salad with the panini they said no you have to buy that....very unclassy. I then ordered the £2.50 Apple crumble dessert....what a joke it was like a child's portion and came with a table spoon of icecream not even a full scoop....disgusting as Sainsbury is supposed to be better standards.their donuts on display disgusting and uninviting and scones a joke.tiny things from a packet not even hand made and they are charged at £1.20 each.just because its a Sainsbury store the cafe is a super let down to the name... go somewhere else if you want better food and prices for lunch.

Had a Sunday roast dinner...Cold out of a packet potatoes,cold overcooked peas and cheap wafer thin beef...Never again...

Sainsburys Marsh Mills cafe has a good number of tables and chairs for customers. There is a large seating area at the far end of the cafe with a view of the car park then a narrow area with some more comfortable looking seats. The customers have to queue for service and its quite a long wait. Why only one person serving? There are other staff clearing tables etc but the customers have to wait. not good.

As cheap food goes it's not bad

It really is about time that Sainsbury's get it together! 9 times out of 10 the hot drinks are lukewarm, the coffee is hardly strong enough to crawl out the cup and just what can diabetics eat???? The answer is absolutely nothing. There are no digestive or ginger biscuits, only cakes and shortbread which are very high in sugar. Oh for a decent cup of coffee!

Overall great place. I've been here a number of times now and it has almost always been perfect (there have occasionally been mistakes but they are happily sorted out). It's also very clean, particularly for a supermarket café.
