The Mad Turk in South Kesteven

A huge group of us went out to celebrate not seeing each other for several years. The team at the Mad Turk was great from booking such a large party and changes to numbers. Staff were extremely attentive and helpful throught the evening. Everyone really loved the food. Lived up to its reputation.

Brilliant conservatory style setting. Perfect for a sunny day. Some of the friendliest, most efficient staff we’ve come across. Oh, and beautifully cooked food! Would have liked one or two more options with sauces, but what we ordered was lovely.

Weird one how I ended up in here got stood up Christmas Eve (yes Christmas Eve) by a lady who turns out is a nothing but a🤥🚩. It had stopped taking more customers but the staff kindly let me dine after I explained the above the food was absolutely delicious will definitely be visiting again! Thank you for letting me dine too was really appreciated never got to thank you properly.

We went here as a family celebration for my mums birthday, the setting feels like you are abroad as you go through the historic building and out there’s a hidden villa like outdoor setting with glass screens and slate floor. The service was very efficient and the menu was interesting. Me and my husband chose the ottoman feast sharing menu, as it was great to be able to taste abit of everything, as it all sounded amazing. It was very clean and the food was vibrant and fresh. It was very authentically prepared and barbecued meat and presented beautifully. The meze was delicious and very generous portions for both starter and main, it was that delicious we managed to eat the majority, everyone enjoyed their food and it was lovely to finish with sweet baklava and traditional Turkish coffee with Turkish delights. Would love to return for a date night here are the setting was so pretty. Just to note there is a lot of steps to get to the back and toilets of elderly or disabled due to the old building so may be more suited to sitting inside as you go in,

Always amazing food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere

A great experience at the Mad Turk. It’s a bit of a hidden gem as they have an amazing outdoor, heated and covered area at the back which is beautiful and totally unexpected when you walk through the main indoor restaurant area. The service and food was excellent. Would highly recommend.

First time at this restaurant but definitely not the last. Booked a dog friendly table for mother's day and the host really looked after us. Pleasure to dine here!

We had lunch three courses, all beautifully prepared and delicious. Subtle flavours, really authentic and the most delicious ice cream I have ever had. We started with falafel and halloumi, followed by lamb kofta served on pitta bread and with delicious sauces. For dessert my husband had Baklava and I had pistachio ice cream. Well worth a visit.

Had a great meal at The Mad Turk last night. I was in town for work! We started with the sharing platters which were spot on, especially the hummus and pitta, both fresh and full of flavour. The calamari was also lovely, light and well-seasoned. For my main, I went with the Za’atar swordfish, and honestly? Generational. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavour, and paired with some of the nicest and incredibly seasoned little potatoes I’ve had. We were sat toward the back, which is a little colder, but it’s also the best spot. The renovated interior back there is stunning, warm lighting, great ambience, just a really nice vibe. Service was friendly throughout, which tied everything together nicely. Definitely one to come back to if I’m ever around again.

Food was amazing, sadly the service a little hit and miss and was rushed as they wanted the table for another booking. Shame they didn’t manage our expectations when we arrived instead of informing us 39 mins before they needed it ! Regardless of this I would certainly return as the food was amazing. We had the Ottoman for 4 people.

Having been to many turkish restaurants, this one is expensive, meat a bit dry. Labm was better, chicken very dry. Staff very friendly and welcoming. But we would not come back considering the price food was not worth it. And the interior design is not cosy.

What a wonderful find this restaurant was during a 2 day visit. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the staff delightful . My husband chose the Turk’s ultimate mangal for mains and said it was delicious. I had the chicken shish which was equally delicious. We managed to share a baklava for pudding and that was yummy. Deserves to be busy on a midweek night. Will definitely re visit the next time we are in the area.

Enjoyed MadTurk. Was a spur of the moment decision, recommeneded by a few friends. They were virtually booked up but made ammendments for us to eat, staff were really friendly, on hand for us and patient to new faces. I felt asthough it was a niche resturaunt as I felt a bit out of place, the inside was dim lit and covered in Turkish heirlooms, gave an authentic feel. The food was fairly priced, a little heavy on the feta in a couple of the starter dishes including the Baklava, but really well balanced meals. Would recommend.

I've only ever had incredible food here! I've eaten in and taken away from this restaurant and the food has always been incredible. I'll often opt for the vegan box with extra hummus... I always have to have extra hummus!!!! My husband has the chicken shish and it smells divine. The bulgar wheat is so incredibly flavourful too! I literally can't fault this place. When we pick up our order we get exceptional service and are well looked after while we wait. I would happily recommend this place to anyone visiting stamford.

First time at the Mad Turk and was very impressed. Quality was excellent, service friendly, and the ambience was great too. Had the chicken shish and it was grilled to perfection. Will definately visit again.

A great restaurant to visit, good service and the food was fantastic. The only issue I would flag is , if you are seated in the back part of the restaurant (in a heated , glass extension), it is very noisy - so , if like me, you have a hearing problem and all you hear is background noise , when booking ask not to be seated in this area. And at weekends - booking is essential

Absolutely insanely nice place, super friendly and helpful staff and the food is incredible and came out very quickly nice and hot and tasted superb, definitely recommend coming here!!

We came on Saturday, fantastic food, really tasty. The service was really good; didn’t catch the young ladies name but she was really great and looked after us well. Would highly recommend and will be back

Best meal out we've had for a very long time. Food was incredible. We had the Turk's Ultimate Mangal each. The staff were so accommodating and the restaurant was warm, cosy and clean. Can't recommend it enough. Thanks for a great meal and we will definitely be coming back.

We booked this evening for a rare 'date night' we sat up stairs which was comfortable, just a shame about how loud other diners became. The blackened spatchcock chicken, absolutely recommended!

Lovely evening and very friendly staff. Made us feel welcome and gave us some great suggestions as what to eat.

Attentive service. However, food was very disappointing. Crusty, dry meatballs and dry kebab. No upselling, so great if you don’t want to feel pressured, but wasn’t offered desserts, so paid and left.

Great authentic Turkish restaurant. Always have the lamb shish kebabs and always cooked to perfection. Service is friendly and excellent.

Pretty tasty Turkish food. Well presented and fresh. Service was efficient. Both the 1/2 chicken & swordfish were good. Chips and potatoes were tasty, not too oily.

We sat in the small cosy historic bit at the front but there's a whole modern glass area at the back which makes you feel like you're sitting amongst Mediterranean ruins especially at night when it's all lit up. Food was really excellent. The lamb hot meze was absolutely delicious. Staff were fantastic especially as we left my mother's rollator behind in the street outside and they went out to get it and held onto it for us. Best Turkish and definitely best Baklava.

We visited here for dinner tonight, as it is by far our favourite place to eat out in Stamford. The food and service as always was incredible - right from arriving and being greeted straight away, to such immaculate and friendly service from our brilliant server - Mujtoba - he couldn’t have done more for us and you just couldn’t ever fault him. He was brilliant! We are always so impressed by our experience eating here and will certainly be back again very soon! The manager was also super friendly as always & makes such an effort. Definitely recommend you try this gem out! Thank you for having us 🙏

Nice sitting area outside, great service unfortunately can't recommend it because I've paid £21 for small plate of mixed kebab which had a couple of pieces of chicken and lamb served with some soggy rice and salad My kid had a better meal which cost half the price

Amazing restaurant. One of the nicest Turkish meals I've had in a long time. We sat in the outside section of the restaurant at the back, which was a lovely setting. The food itself was incredible, lots of variety and tasted amazing. The staff were very friendly and provided a great experience for a birthday meal.

4th time here and just had to write a review. Again everything was amazing. Service is absolutely phenomenal, staff are so attentive and friendly and the food incredible. Even when extremely busy the service and food is just brilliant. Best Turkish food ever!!

This time they didn't understand vegan or decaffeinated coffee Worse though was the veru cold temperature in the conservatory area

Me and my husband visited here and felt like we were on holiday in Turkey . Definitely recommended!!

The restaurant is spacious, staff are very friendly and professional. I asked the staff their recommended food in the menu. It was very delicious comparing to London High end Turkish restaurant and I would say we ate them all emptied everything. I will be back again and lot of food choices.

Busy restaurant with great service and excellent food. The covered outdoor seating area at the back is great during summer. We had three courses and all were very well made. Sucuk, Borek and Kalamar starters were all perfectly prepared and presented. The Adana Kofte was juicy and tasty, served with plenty of rice and bulgar wheat as well as some dressed salad. The lambs and chicken shish both met with approval from other members of our party. The biscoff cheesecake dessert was also excellent and was quickly polished off. Efes draft lager, Aperol spritz and a bottle of Malbec washed it all down. The service was very good, no delays between courses and checks that everything was okay, without being too obtrusive. With the place being so busy there’s a fairly rapid turn around of tables so if you’re having three courses, after two hours you may find the next customers waiting for you to vacate, but there are plenty of places nearby where you can continue your after-meal chats.

Beautiful food served fairly quickly. My meatballs starter was delicious as too was my wife's chicken shish main, served with fresh salad and lovely dips. I had the Ultimate Mangal which was delicious, all meats cooked perfectly. Service was excellent and my wife popped her nose into the garden and wished she had sat out there! Lovely experience in a lovely restaurant in a gorgeous town!

Not entirely obvious that this was the place we were looking for. We were met by super friendly staff and led through to the terrace/courtyard at the back. Complete contrast to the inside dining room. We had the vegetarian meze for two which was all delicious. We added whipped feta, salad and chips. Great selection for vegetarians and gives you a taste of what's on the menu. Came quite quickly bur we were there fairly early. Starting to fill up when we left just after 7.30pm.

We visited for lunch at 12pm today (17th) and we're quickly seated. Our starters arrived in minutes, I had the meatballs and my wife had the pittas with dips, quickly consumed, both thoroughly enjoyed. The mains took a little while, I ordered the ultimate mangal with salad and rice and my wife had the chicken shish with rice and salad. The lamb was unbelievably soft and the salad was very fresh, I loved my peppers, they melted in my mouth. We could not fault the food, service or the surroundings. I could happily eat this food for lunch daily! There is also a nice outdoor area too. All in all a 10/10 from us! Thank you. Visited 17th August 2024.

Went for the first time last night and already it’s one of my local favourites. Lovely outdoor seating, really lovely chilled vibe. Food was incredible, recommend the maze starter for 2.

It was a bit dark and cold but otherwise a nice atmosphere. Food was good but the meat wasn't as juicy as other Turkish restaurants in the area

If you are in Stamford I highly recommend this restaurant, the food was absolutely amazing and the staff very helpful and nice 😊 P.S. You shouldn’t miss the Sword Fish- that was 🔥🫠❤️

Went with colleagues for a meal out. Disappointed with the moussaka - it was made up of courgette and potato with the tiniest bit of aubergine about the size of my little finger. When I pointed this out to the waitress she apologised and said their aubergine delivery was due the next day and that she should have told me that earlier. I was not impressed and the moussaka hadn’t tasted that good. No money off was offered. The whole bill was also very expensive for what it was. It was an OK meal but I won’t be returning in a hurry.

This was a last minute decision and we're glad we went - the vibe is nice, service excellent, and the food is delicious. The portions are very big - we didn't need a starter - but it was all very tasty and we ate it all. Oops! (The only weird thing was the grape in my glass of white wine - what's that about?!)

Very good good and friendly service

I visited with friends mid week recently and had a really enjoyable evening. The food tasted absolutely amazing and was clearing very fresh. The service was friendly. This was really good value for money and I would recommend.

Lovely food. If you are wearing heels, becareful of the stairs as it's an old building. Tried Bulgar which I will be cooking at home with bell peppers. Delish

Reasonable but easy meal which was expensive but very high calorie for a vegetarian dish with loads of bread and cheese and not much salad. Disappointment with the food was mitigated by excellent presentation and service

Great little restaurant in Stamford. Beautifully cooked food and great service in a relaxed and informal setting. Looks like they are finishing an alfresco area out the back of the restaurant for the summer. Will definitely return.

We love this restaurant. By far the best Turkish restaurant in Stamford, and definitely one of the best restaurants in Stamford generally. The food and service is excellent. We do prefer to sit in the back conservatory however for incredible ambience, vibe and atmosphere. I understand that this will re-open soon. We look forward to that as it’s perfect t for a group of fronds.

Pleasant evening, plenty of options for food. Quick turnaround from ordering to having food brought to our table. Plenty of people choosing to dine here, a nice atmosphere. Love it when the garden glass room is open.

We hadn’t booked but were welcomed in. The food was out of this world. We had starters, main and had just about enough room baclava for dessert (though some left in a doggy-bag) ! All incredible. No hesitation to recommend.

From the moment we walked into the place we were impressed with the decor of the interior, it felt authentic, warm and welcoming. The customer service provided from all the staff remembers was top notch, attentive but not too overbearing. Special shoutout to Carrie for her bubbly personality and attentiveness. Now onto the main topic of conversation; the food. We ordered the Ottoman Feast and it didn’t lie. It was a meal fit for a king. The starter platter was really nice with a selection of dips, pitta bread, halloumi, calamari and borek. It was super nice, great mix of flavours to get us started. The main was a char grilled meat selection with beef, lamb, chicken (wing and chunks) rice, fresh salad, roasted peppers, 2 sauces (one yogurt and dill based and one spicy salsa). It was absolutely amazing and the portion size was huge, enough to satisfy anyone. The baklava at the end was the crème del-a crème. 2 different types of baklava, good quality ice cream and pistachio drizzle. It was absolutely amazing and worth every penny!

Outstanding food & excellent service we will be back. We had an awsome starter called Borek, lovely filo pastry, feta cheese, the ultimate mangal for mains, great value at £25 for two people, loads of great flavours, sauces complimented it all the way. A fabulous Turkish yoghurt. For dessert we enjoyed the honey comb cheese cake. Really loved the experience, thanks Mad Turk, your awesomeness is awesome. xx

So good! Last minute reservation travelling through Stamford fairly late, they held back a table. We enjoyed a mixed Shish and a chicken shish with hummus and fries. Beautiful little place, pretty lights and good staff, polite and professional, food was authentic, really enjoyable and tasty and I look forward to another visit

I love everything about this restaurant!! Once you step inside you feel like you’re on holiday. The service is excellent. And as for the food, well, not only is it presented beautifully and tastes delicious buy also the portions are enormous. I only discovered The Mad Turk in Stamford, two weeks ago and I’ve already been three times. I will be back next week. It’s definitely a must!

Passing through Stamford this evening we decided to stop for a bite to eat. Decided on The Mad Turk and went along in the hope we could be fitted in. Lovely warm greeting and they found us a table, food absolutely excellent, staff professional and attentive. the whole experience was excellent from start to finish..Thank you

Great food in this busy and vibrant restaurant. A nice menu, reassuringly short which tells me it’s all home made! The loaded hummus and baba ganoosh were delicious with warm bread to dip. The lamb kebab I had as a main was delicious with tender lamb tasty as it had been cooked on a fire. I have only dropped start for this review as the size of the restaurant lets it down as we were sat on a thoroughfare to the toilets. Don’t let this put you off though, super food, great location and very nice helpful staff.

We came here for lunch today along with a friend and her toddler. The staff were very helpful and kind, and the food was lovely- I had the Iskender kebab which was excellent. I enjoyed the addition of strawberry and pomegranate seeds to my glass of prosecco, it was a nice touch.

We met family at this restaurant. The food was really delicious BUT the seating design was really bad. We should have been informed tgat we were to get seated in an area tgat was soooo cold we had to wear our coats. Spoilt the whole...

Very good service with delicious food

Superb meal with generous portions. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Also excellent value. Our main dish (vegetarian moussaka) was a subtle twist on the usual dish which was nice and unexpected. Thoroughly enjoyable experience and will very happily visit again.
